Went to Sa Thai on the recommendation from a coworker. A coworker and I ordered and split the Spicy Jungle Noodles and the Green Curry. I really enjoyed both. They were both the lunch portions, so smaller, but came with soup and felt like the right size for both of us. I like the medium spice level- not too hot, but a little kick. I ordered Sa Thai for delivery, and I had some of the best Thai food in New Mexico! Spicy jungle noodles 10/10. Best pad see eww / jungle noodles that I've had in New Mexico by a long shot. Absolutely loved it. The ingredients tasted so fresh , you could tell nothing was from a can or frozen. The sauce at the bottom was just to die for. Pineapple fried rice 10/10. This tied for first place, it's possibly the very best fried rice in New Mexico but it's just so close. What I loved is that they spared no expense on ingredient quality, they even used cashews rather than cheaper nuts like peanuts. Each veggie was cooked perfectly and they actually put tomato which I've never had in fried rice but man it was good! Believe it or not the pad Thai was only 5/10, not too bad; nothing to write home about. I was surprised about that since every other item blew my socks off. What might have been the worst part of the pad Thai was the regular chicken was dry and chalky. Stumbled upon Sa Thai by accident, while in my way to another restaurant I passed Sa Thai and thought, this looks cute and decided why not. Was seated immediately. I kept hearing awesome things about this place and was so glad I went in to give it a try. I decided to branch out and try something different that wasn't the pad thai which is my go to dish. Instead I tried the peanut curry with tofu and it really hit the spot. Great flavor and lots of options for levels of heat. I went with medium and it was just right for me. The portion size was great, enough for a good sized lunch but enough to take home if you wanted something lighter. The staff was very friendly and gave us plenty of time to look through the menu to decide what we wanted. They were also happy to advise us on levels of spiciness. Most importantly the jungle noodles were underwhelming. The noodles lacked the expected level of spice and did not reflect the flavors typically associated with Thai cuisine. Overall, this was a disappointing visit, and I do not plan to return. I visited for the lunch special around 1:00 PM, and the restaurant was not particularly busy at the time. I placed an order for the lunch special as the spicy jungle noodles. When my food arrived, I realized I had not been given any utensils. I waited approximately five minutes before the server returned, at which point I had to request them. This was the moment when I began to feel that the level of service was lacking. What stood out most was the noticeable difference in service provided to another table. A group of three seated nearby by the same server received a much more attentive and welcoming experience. They were promptly offered water, given the soup of the day, and encouraged to place their order right away. While I understand that regular customers may sometimes receive more familiarity, the disparity in treatment made the experience feel inconsistent and unwelcoming. I thought the service was attentive, friendly and concerned (very aware of customers' piquancy level preferences) and the room and patio were very nice - the nicest of any restaurant in the shopping plaza, with lovely red flowers everywhere. Nice lagniappe ginger/tofu soup with rice - quite a large portion, too. The pumpkin curry (with tofu) was fantastic - one of the best curries I've had in my life. Green curry (with pork) was also very delicious - and was LOADED with pork and pork-y taste. Pricing was as expected for this type of food in this area, with lunch portions being priced a bit lower than full size entrees. I've been here a couple times now and each time the food was delicious. The portion sizes are just right too. Not too big and not too small. The manager is also very nice! I had the jungle noodles and they were super tasty. You can pick your spice level too. I went with a spice level of 4, but if you are brave enough, you can go all the way to 10! Just a gorgeous pumpkin curry from these guys tonight. Excellent flavor, but not quite hot enough for me. I was annoyed that I had to drive over in rush-hour traffic (my mistake) and the place was quite a distance from my house, but by the time I sank my teeth into the food all was forgiven. Sa is situated in the same plaza as Tamashi off of Holly Avenue. I went on a Monday night and the place was PACKED! And now I know why! Right when you walk in you get greeted warmly by one of the waitresses and get sat almost immediately. Menu is front and back but has all of the Thai classics plus some unique spins. I opted for the spicy jungle noodles which were exactly how I like them! I love that they use the really wide rice noodles and there were plenty of veggies. This is the first thai place we have had in Albuquerque, and it doesn't disappoint. Not at all. It has a nice cute vibe, you can kind've see Sandia from this location inside, and the details in this place are top notch. The have a hand painted drawing, the tuk tuk taxi cabs, and a nice decor. We had the spring roles, and the peanut sauce is fantastic. Nice little appetizer before the real meal. We tend to cook yellow curry's and pad thai. The pad thai here is similar to what we make, which is rare for us to find. There is plenty of sauce, flavor, and we could go alittle higher on spice next time. Overall, the pad thai was enough just to split. The yellow curry, absolutely amazing. It's in our top 5 for currys. This has more of a street feel, vs like Samui Thai in Legacy west (Dallas). I have been here twice now and it's some of the best Thai food I've had. I've tried both the Pad Thai and the Yellow Curry now and both main dishes were amazing and packed with flavor. Sa Thai is our GO TO restaurant! The food is authentic and hands down beats the many other Thai restaurants in the area. Thai dishes like boat noodles, papaya salad and khao soi are among the few dishes that you would be able to get if you visited Thailand yourself. Taste and flavor profiles is as close to authentic as you can get - we have had a lot of Thai food over the years :-). The other better part of this restaurant is it's staff ! May have been because we were one of a couple of customers. I had the Larb. It was good, a little too salty for me. But management was receptive to my report. The wife had Peanut Curry with chicken. Located in the old Slapfish location on Paseo. They've been open for 9 days now. Service was quick and super friendly. We had the egg rolls for an appetizer. They were light and crispy with a sweet peanut dipping sauce. I ordered the peanut curry with chicken. They offer 8 levels of spice. I chose mild. Food came out quickly and was hands down delicious.
