The owner Rocky makes it a point to great not only us, regular customers, but also the new. I asked him about the salmon-shrimp on vegetables plate topped with spicy creamy red curry sauce. He recommended the salmon to be "crispy" from the outside yet moist from the inside. I agreed. The end result was the most flavorful salmon n shrimp I ever had! Decided to come to Thai Chef for dinner after my wife had told me she had a pretty good meal there the last time she went with friends. We were able to sit down in the restaurant so that was a huge plus! Place is tiny but had enough seating for about 32 folks I would say. They have a great selection of items to choose from and looking at other people's plates, the portions were huge! I couldn't decide on what to get so I ordered their fried rice with pork and their Pho with Vietnamese meatballs. Both items were OUTSTANDING!! I couldn't inhale the food fast enough. :-) Service was outstanding and not sure if she was the head chef, but a woman came out of the kitchen and was asking all the tables how their food was....thats a very nice touch. We got our food very quickly even though the dining room was full and they had a full on "to-go" operation in full swing too. We've ordered from here three times via Uber eats. Food is perfectly spiced (too often thai places flavor based on "white people spicy") ingredients are so fresh and always arrive piping hot. If you like panang curry, this is some of the best. Fried rice is great as well with very fresh and perfectly cooked veggies. Will need to pay them a visit in person soon. read more

First the room is freezing seriously the AC was kicking in high, enough to bring goosebumps. Then you get over the fact all the drinks are cans, even sweet tea. We live in Texas how do you serve sweet tea in a can and then argue with the customer when they don't want it and just ask for water. Don't be fooled by the photos on the menus they must be stock photos because the food looked different. Don't get me wrong it was good food, just not the professional presentation in the menu. Overall it was alright Tai food, small portions and the service was needing a mood change. If the two servers one was super nice and professional I wish she helped and greeted us because it could have swayed my initial impression and made the whole meal more enjoyable. read more

My family loves this restaurant. We are hooked on the Thai spring rolls. We have ordered a wide variety of dishes from sushi rolls to noodle dishes. It's an OK restaurant. The sushi is good but the main dishes are nasty. ONLY 1 of the servers were good. The main girl with the long ponytail started yelling in my face..about my order like I couldn't understand her. She also was OTP while she dropped off my food. It was her own personal phone. My main dish was so nasty I told one of the other servers and she just snatched it away. Service was ass bc I'm black as per usual. The loud white people got TOP tier service, we love that! I hate to give a restaurant a low review with everything that's going on in the world but.... I called ahead three times to place my order with no answer, just a busy signal. Being that they didn't answer the phone I made my way to the restaurant and ordered in person. Prior to paying I asked how long it would be. They told me 20 mins, fair. So I sat outside and began my wait. 30 mins later I went back inside to inquire only to be ignored lol. I had to be very persistent to get an answer on when my food would be ready. I was told 10 mins. In a total of a 50 mins wait I finally received my food with a dry "sorry about the wait". Mind you I only ordered Pad Thai and a small order of crab rangoon. Both were just...ok. Definitely didn't make up for the wait. Not sure if I'll give them another try at this point. read more

Came here with family on 3/12/18 Service was terrible. Waiting for water refills and silverware. It was upsetting not just me but my family. I didn't have a problem waiting for sushi because they only had one chef. Food was brought out by a different server and then our server never came out again. I think next time I will just order Togo rather than eat in. The bottles of hoisin sauce, salt, etc was dirty. It looked like it has not been wiped down in days. One of my family members was so turned off with the service she doesn't even want to visit this place again. The Pad Thai was super sweet. It tasted like it was stir fried in maple syrup. I put in a Togo order and when the food came out she our waitress wanted to tie the bag but I wanted to check and make sure everything was in the bag but when I check I was missing one of my 5 orders. Good thing I checked and didn't leave. I had to take a family member to the dentist so I thought I'd stop in for a bite while waiting. Ended up sitting at the sushi bar since the place was kinda packed. While I was eating my miso soup they asked me to move to the other side of the sushi bar so customers could check out. No biggie for me, they are working with a very limited space. The miso soup was quite good, no complaints there. Now when the Spider Roll I ordered came out I immediately noticed that the breading was extremely dark, border lining on black and there was a floral almost fermented smell... I hate to be "that guy" so I went ahead and gave it a bite. Boy was that a mistake. I was immediately met with a pungent and overwhelming bitter taste. I choked down that bite and decided to investigate. 1.) The bean sprouts were hard and very very bitter. They had not been properly stored and left to sit for way too long. They had a distinct fermented taste. 2.) The soft shell crab was burnt to a crisp and the inside turned into a grey mush. I know fried soft shell doesn't have a good appearance inside but this was unspeakably gross. Tasted like the scrapings from a fryer that hadn't been cleaned for weeks. 3.) The avocado was a mix. Some parts were soft and flavorful, but most others were bitter and had the distinct black marks of being left to sit for too long and was bitter from being too ripe. Now that's the disaster that the kitchen willingly sent out to a customer. Just the black appearance alone should be a huge red flag and isn't a crime against food in my mind but the horrid bitter bean sprouts and blackened bitter avocado are. I also noted how shriveled the mangos were in the display case and there were also some shriveled and browning jalapeños in there too. The wait staff was kind and timely. They asked if I wanted to order something else but my appetite was devastated after my tastebuds were assaulted. I just asked for the check, left enough cash plus a still generous tip for the miso and proceeded to walk out. Funny thing is that a potential customer asked how the food was as I left so I just showed them pictures of my meal and let them decide for themselves. Yeah I felt like a dick steering people away but I'm not the one who cooked or served decrepit meals. Now I've never walked out from a restaurant before in the same manner. This is the first time I turned away a dish due to sheer disgust, I usually bite my lip and plow through sub-par meal and blame myself for being too adventurous or setting my standards too high, but this was the only time they crossed the line so far there was no redemption. read more

I asked for extra spicy and I was impressed! I got the springs rolls , tiger steak (cooked medium), pad Thai, and papaya salad. All delicious the Pad Thai was slightly over cooked and too sweet for my liking but still very good. The tiger steak was probably the best! Sooo good and the sauce that comes with it, amazing! While waiting for my daughter to finish practice, my wife and I decided to get some Thai food for dinner. Thai Chef was visited out of default because our other favorites were off until January 20th. First, the dining room is small, but it's very quaint and well decorated. And, the wait staff was extremely friendly as they took our to-go order and offer refreshments while we waited a reasonable time for our food. Upon arriving at home, I quickly dove into my standard Thai dish which is the combination Phad woon sent - glass noodles, egg, vegetables, and meat. The dish was seasoned and prepared well. The noodles were coated with specks of egg and chili peppers, and the meat variables were well represented. Also, my wife enjoyed her chicken Pad Thai and finished most of it that evening which is a feat in itself. Finally, we found another Thai restaurant locally and are looking to dine-in to see if the restaurant retains its charm. The menu also offered sushi and Pho, so I am interested in knowing which cuisine they excel in. Really good Phat Thai! The Thai spring rolls are super tasty (could have kept ordering those) and the Sushi is fresh. My youngest loves sushi, and she said we need to come here everyday! She also said that she loved that it was quiet and the music was soft. That goes a long way, when most places now a days, are super loud and have way too much stimulation. They do have TVs playing but they have no sound and are cooking shows, which makes you hungrier. Over all we were really happy to find this Gem of a restaurant so close to Seguin (Cibolo is only a short hop). Really loved this stop off, and will be back in the future. Great place. read more
