INCREDIBLE!!! As always .... Thai Dee never disappoints , the food and the customer service is impeccable. Took my girlfriend here for her first time and she absolutely loved it. They are so vegetarian friendly its insane!! They will literally make any dish veggie friendly for you ( with the exception of a few of course) but overall 10/10 . If you haven't been hear you definitely need to stop in . There's usually always a line but I came on a Wednesday around 6 and had no issue getting a table , you should definitely try the egg rolls & cashew chicken ( I had it with tofu ) but it was so gooooooood. read more

Everything about this place is wonderful. The service is great. On a weekend evening, expect a crowd. The place is small, so arrive early if you are bringing a big group along. The place is also BYOB. We love taking a bottle of wine or a case of beer. We actually celebrated our 5th year anniversary here & brought a bottle of champagne! My favorite is the combination fried rice (with huge pieces of shrimp!), red curry with chicken, pad thai, spring rolls, .... I can go on and on! The food is fresh and arrives hot! Craved thai on the way home from the airport and stopped here for food after dropping off a friend. We got pick up. This is only the second place in San Antonio I've found authentic pad kee mao (drunken noodles), so I approve! It had a good amount of spice and was soy sauce based like it should be. There was also a good amount of basil. My friend got the pad see ew and it was pretty good also, but not as flavorful as the pad kee mao. The beef was also tender in both dishes and there was a good amount, although I would have preferred to have more noodles rather than beef. Overall, if I'm in the area with friends I would like to try more things on the menu. One con is the restaurant is located in a pretty sketch part of town and is pretty sketch looking on the outside. The inside is pretty cozy though. I don't think I'd feel safe coming here at night without friends. Overall, pretty solid thai food though. read more

Easily one of the best Thai spots in town. The curry is delicious. The menu says they use no MSG either. You can order spicy and the cooks won't try to kill you, but instead complement the dish nicely. The Tom Kha soup is some of the best you'll have. Lunch comes with a soup and at $9 is a great deal. Dinner is a bit more expensive-$13 for a curry-but the portions are massive. The wait staff sets this place apart. I'm sad to report that, about a year after my first visit to Thai Dee, I wasn't as impressed as the first time. The Pad Thai tasted like it was made out of one of those boxes you get in the grocery store. I don't understand! Last year it was out of this world. But the sauce this time was vinegary and just didn't have good flavor. I asked the server if they had changed the recipe, and she said no. I couldn't figure it out! The service wasn't as good as I remembered it either. I felt very ignored. I understand that they were busy, but as a restaurant you have to take care of your guests. Period. The good news: the red curry is still great. Lots of deep flavor and tender chicken. It's still not very expensive, so at least I didn't pay too much for my disappointing dish. read more

This is my first time having Thai food in San Antonio, so I don't have a good baseline to judge. However, I was really impressed by Thai Dee. It is a bit out of the way and in a pretty random location next to a middle school. But when you walk in, you can tell that the food is going to be fairly authentic because all of the staff seem to be Thai, and the decorations are something right out of Thailand. I went with a few friends on a Friday night; we didn't have to wait, but the place was PACKED. There were so many people fit into this tiny restaurant, and it really gave the whole place a lively and bustling atmosphere. As for the staff, they seem to be a little bit shorthanded because there was a bit of a wait between each activity (drink order, food order, food arrival, checks etc.). However, the staff are really nice and you can tell that they do care. As for the food, we split a chicken satay appetizer, and I ordered a chicken pad thai. It was a lot of food! The chicken satay was pretty good; I loved their peanut sauce, but I felt that the chicken ended up being a bit dry. On the other hand, I really enjoyed their pad thai. The noodles were chewy, and it came with plenty of toppings. My only negative would be that it seems like they make their pad thai very, very, very mild compared to how it actually is in Thailand. read more

Thairrific! This place is a win. We ordered Thai coffees and waters. The coffees were made perfectly and taste amazing; not too bitter and not too sweet, it's just right. For our appetizer we had Tom Kha soup and Pork Spring rolls. The Tom Kha was delicious. Hint of lemon grass, great coconut flavor and just the right amount of sweetness to counter the rest of the flavors. Spring rolls were good. They were accompanied by a tamarind sauce sprinkled with peanuts. Different, but good! For our entrees we ordered the Panang Curry (Thai hot) and Pad Thai (medium spicy). Both came out with correct spicy level and tasted great! However, the Pad Thai does not have the original peanutty taste that you would expect. Instead, they use a house sauce that gives the dish a tangy taste. If I could recommend something else, it'd be the Green Curry with beef. Oh my goodness, is that good. No. Not good. Perfect! Dessert was Sticky rice topped with coconut ice cream. Sweet and simple! All in all a 10 out of 10. Thai Dee will never disappoint. Great ambiance, food, and service! read more

Not my most favorite Thai restaurant that I've visited, but it still hit the spot. I had stopped at 3 other restaurants before finding this one and this was the only one open 11am on a Saturday. Pad Thai didn't have as much flavor as I was hoping, a little bland. A little soy sauce added did the trick. Their veggie spring rolls were yummy. A little greasy from the frying, but their sauce to dip them in was fantastic! I'd love a bottle of that stuff!! Atmosphere is nice and the waiter/waitress that I saw were super friendly and didn't let my water get more than half empty. read more

Cons: The location of this restaurant can be a drawback for there is very limited parking and other businesses have towing signs. Now that is out of the way let's talk about the food and service. Thai Dee is a small restaurant that can fill up fast but the food. Our server was very nice and polite. He was attentive and pleasant. The food was so yummy and flavorful. The handmade noodles, to the chicken, the seasoning....YUM. I had the Basil Noodles and loved every bit of it.Thai Dee gives a good portion so you can leftovers. Thai Dee has great service and delicious Crab Rangoon's. However, the high marks end there. Their Beef Pad Thai and Chicken Red Curry were blah. There are Thai restaurants, and then there are "almost-Thai" restaurants. Any Thai restaurant that serves cashew chicken, and no tablespoon with your food is "almost-Thai,"...and a lot of Chinese. Another example of this is Tong's on Austin Highway. Most of the customers were using chopsticks! Ask a Thai in Thailand about using chopsticks...what? Having said that, Thai Dee is a funky cozy little restaurant in a shabby strip mall that is chuck full of customers at lunch time. Great atmosphere, but you don't "eat"atmosphere. My green curry needle dish was huge, mostly large fat noodles. It had to be 2000 calories of noodles alone. Both of our dishes were slightly sweet...where did that come from? Not Thailand. Overall, slightly on the expensive side and quite limited menu...but it was busy and cozy. Would I ever go back there again? NO!!! read more

What a pleasant surprise! From the outside, the restaurant is nothing to look at, yet the food inside it yummy! My co-workers love this place and are regulars, so I came with them and gave it a shot. I ordered the garlic chicken, and wow! If you love garlic, there is no lack of it. It was great for me, because I expect lots of garlic in my garlic chicken. Oh, and the sauce at the bottom of my plate was a great "dip" for the two spring rolls. The portions were very generous too! There was more than enough to create two servings off of one plate from the lunch special. By the way, the lunch special came with this beef soup that I'm going to refer as "Thai Beef Caldo." I'm not sure what was in it, yet the beef was very flavorful and the large amount of beef in the soup was surprisingly awesome for an appetizer. Parking might be an issue since the parking lot is small, yet by mid-lunch, there were only two only tables in this place on Black Friday. The customer service might be lacking (deducted a star), yet the food more than makes up for it. read more

This WAS my favorite Thai joint in San Antonio until I took my family on Aug 30th 2012. The place was slammed and we were happy to be there, but the food was mediocrely seasoned and the cashew chicken needed to be cooked more. Our experience worsened, when we got the Thai Delight and instead of LO Mein noodles, it was served w spaghetti. We weren't given any napkins nor refills of water or tea. My wife got terribly sick afterwards and was in bed all day, tired from throwing up. I really hope this place gets back on track. Oh my god. We just tried this for the first time today after being recommended this place by several different people, and no lie it's probably my new favorite restaurant. Upon walking in we were greeted by Nick, and saw a few friends of ours already dining. Lol. We had the Moo Ping which was seriously the best thing ever! It had so much flavor and came with a dipping oil that complemented it very well. We also had the Tom Kha which is a soup that had mushroom and chicken in a delicious and interesting broth. We also has the Thai Dee Light and the Spicy Noodles. Everything was beyond exceptional and authentic. I loved everything about this place! Service was also on point. Reviewing: Dinner What We Ordered: Pad Khee Mao, Nam Tok, Thai Teas (we recommend all!) So I am super picky when it comes to Asian food, especially Thai food since I've had so many bad dishes at many restaurants. I heard many good things about Thai Dee and was so excited to try it, especially upon arriving and finding the restaurant packed on a week night! Not even a weekend night. And Thai Dee meet all of my expectations! First of all the decor is typical of any Thai restaurant with paintings of the country and Buddha statues in different areas. The staff is very friendly and accommodating! FOOD: The PAD KHEE MAO is definitely some of the best I've had in SA. The sauce was a wonderful mix of spicy, soy sauce, fish sauce, and garlic and the meat was very tender and juicy. Also, they didn't skimp on the noodles and meat which is a plus! One of my pet peeves at Asian restaurants is when the dish comes out and it's 3/4 vegetables and 1/4 noodles+meat. The NAM TOK is a beef-based salad that I highly recommend because the taste is incredibly refreshing! You can taste the mint leaves, lime juice, and fish sauce combination. So good! DRINKS: THAI TEAS were on point! The perfect balance of tea to sweetness ratio - approve! DATE IDEA: This place is also BYOB so whether it's a friend date or a real date, it's a cool place to come share some thai food and pop open a bottle of wine! I got the Khee Mao (Spicy Noodles) with beef, and it was a spicy and very flavorful, very delicious dish He got the Chicken Pai Thai, I only had a bite and it is is a bit just too sweat and sour for me. He liked it though. The free soup with lunch is just ok, soy sauce based chicken soup. The service is excellent, their refilled our ice tea and lemonade without us asking for it. The only thing I didn't like is we waited for about 5 mins for the check and eventually we went to the cashier desk to pay for it. Overall, great food, great service, I will be back again. read more

This is the BEST Thai restaurant I've ever been to. The service was more like hospitality. The portions were absolutely HUGE for a great price! Came here with my family (4) and we have enough leftovers for another two days. The iced coffee is amazing as well as the chicken satay, Penang Curry w/ chicken, Yellow Curry, fried short ribs, veggie egg rolls, and fried rice, omg everything was SO delicious.
