    46. Pad Kao Pod with tofu

I was in the mood for Thai but wanted to try something besides my usual Pad Se Ew or Pad Thai. I ordered the Pod Kai Pod (#46 on the menu) and it was SO good!! The customer service is great and the food was made fresh to order. Not to mention, the portion size was huge! So yummy and can't wait to come back to try something new.

It's limited parking right in front of restaurant, Food~Appetizers are delicious, piping hot, literally waited 5-7 mins to arrive fresh! Service-The waitress is absolute amazing funny and so very sweet. We asked for a pitcher of ice water she bought the pitcher w/ ice and no water. She says "anything else?!" We said yes the water! We laughed for a least 5 mins Main Course- Crab Fried Rice is absolutely amazing, flavorful, and piping hot once again! Ambience-Mom and Pops, plenty of seating, music playing softly in the background. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

I've ordered from this Thai restaurant four times. Their portions are large (28oz on the pad Thai container) but the prices kind of reflect that. Today I ordered the pad Thai. The pad Thai wasn't the best but it kept well- I came back and updated, it was holding up pretty well a day later. However, the toppings are sparse, it's just beansprouts and green onion with a single lime wedge no peanuts and no cilantro. The noodles are rubbery, the chicken tastes like it is both under and over cooked, the flavor of the pad Thai is giving tomato somehow although there isn't much sauce on this at all, yet it's greasy. It's actually pretty dry otherwise. I recommend not ordering their pad Thai but the lemongrass chicken is good and so is the peanut sauce curry which is why I am rating three stars.

    Finally made it here

I live in the area and have always wanted to get take out here. Excellent service at the take out window, very personable. There's always so much I want to order but seeing it was a solo night and my dog already ate, I went with curry chicken and veggie pad Thai noodles. #53 #20 respectively Creamy yellow sauce and plenty of scrumptious pad noodles. I use the white rice to buffer the yellow sauce so it doesn't migrate into the noodles. It's a must for taste bud divisions. You really need to try this spot out. I'll be back. Cheers.

Entering the shop, you will be greeted by loud music. Be ready for that. You will have the option to dine outside, if the weather provides it and the seats are empty. The hosts are wonderful and very accepting with a positive attitude. Smiles and all. I ordered the Jim because it was the only sandwich I could eat. The majority of the sandwiches contain meat, so I would not recommend this for vegans or pescatarians. Jim was delicious and I consumed both halves of Jim flawlessly. Either hunger overruled me, or the sandwich was that satisfying. I do recommend the shop, but with limited options for non-meat eaters, I truthfully would rate Lottie and Zulas, 4.5. Yet, I don't believe the spot was "good."

We also had the Vinny which was fine, a bit spicier than I thought it would be, but I'm a wimp. The service was fine, not overly friendly but adequate. The food is 4 stars, the service 3 starts, but the real bummer was all the plastic. Plastic container, plastic cups and we were eating in. They asked if it was to go and we said no, but everything came in plastic anyway. The ambiance is quintessential Portland, right up until they bring all your food in plastic with plastic silverware to boot.

THE SMOKIN' OAK PDX: I HAVE A NEW MAC & CHEESE CHAMPION…read more I need to start with a confession. I'm a little bit of a mac and cheese snob. There. I said it. There are a million different versions of mac and cheese floating around Portland, and most of the time I take a bite and think, "Yeah... that's mac and cheese." Good? Sure. Life-changing? Not usually. For a while, my favorite was the Italian pork belly mac from Grassa. Keyword: WAS. I walked into The Smokin' Oak PDX at Cartside and saw people eating BBQ. Something told me to take a look at the menu. Then I spotted the mac and cheese. "How's your mac?" They said, "It's our most popular item." Well, apparently Portland's mac and cheese committee had already spoken. I ordered it with that beautiful sliced brisket, and folks... this combination is straight fire. That brisket was freaking amazing. Smoky, tender, packed with flavor. But then you get a bite of that brisket with the mac and cheese together, and suddenly I'm questioning every mac and cheese decision I've made in my life. Brisket + mac = loaded happiness. I should have thrown some jalapeño on it because that would have taken this thing into another zip code, but honestly, it didn't need much help. And there's a reason this mac is so popular. The Smokin' Oak makes its mac from scratch using a family recipe from Tyler, Texas, and their BBQ is Central Texas style, with their meats smoked over Oregon white oak. So apparently they brought Texas to Portland and then made it everybody's problem. The hospitality was excellent. The cart was clean. The price was right. The people were friendly. And the food? Gold medal. I'm not going to sit here and declare this the best BBQ in Portland because I haven't eaten every piece of brisket in this city. But the mac and cheese? That's a different conversation. As of today, I'm calling this my favorite mac and cheese with BBQ in Portland. Grassa's Italian pork belly mac, you've officially been bumped to number two. Sorry. Nothing personal. The brisket and mac hit the spot and gave my taste buds a good smack. Five stars. Straight fire. Loaded happiness. Mac and cheese championship belt secured.
