They weren't open for dine in last week but seemed to possibly be open for dine in this week. I was there right after opening so I was one of only a handful of guests that I saw come in. Fav Thai food restaurant in south San Jose. Beautiful restaurant with friendly staff. Love how you can see the chefs doing on the woks right when you walk in! Everything taste fresh and authentic. Such a bad service, attitude lady because she think she is sister of the owner restaurant. Like I mentioned ordered togo pakphad ( associated veggies with garlic) and bring home only have some tofu in there , the price is $13.95. It's not only pricey but not how to handle situation when I call back the restaurant let them know I found hair in my tofu and she said ok make it up , come back and get it. I gave them a chance and this time they put alot of oil , soggy on my order , can not even eat or share with anyone , have to throw away. Decent Thai place with a nice interior and quick service! Fairly empty when I came on a Thursday lunch. Food: I got the Tom kha soup and it was really good and sweet but had a good ratio of veggie and tofu and soup. The soup also came with free daily soup which was nice. Service: Super fast and hands off and the waiters checked in periodically to give us water. Ambiance: Super casual and clean place. Good place to catch up with a friend! Ima be honest, this is not my go to spot, but being in the South side, it is convenient and the place isn't bad. I get the same basic items everytime I am here. Chicken pad thai and Chicken pad kee mao. Basic I know, but it's usually all I crave when I want thai food. I am not going to over order and over eat! The food here is a little on the sweeter side. I may not be a spicy eater, but no spice here is too sweet. I usually have to ask for mild. It's always packed here, so don't come when you're super hungry. They do get people in and out quickly and the food comes out quick, but do keep in mind if the restaurant is fully packed. read more

I LOVE this place - one of my favorite Thai places in the bay. I come pretty often for lunch with coworkers or takeout dinner with the family or to just grab Thai tea when I'm in the mood. Their lunch menu is pretty great for noodles or curry - pad see ew is my go-to, and I would be careful with the spice levels because even medium has a kick to it. Overall, highly recommend checking this place out. CHECK. YOUR. RECEIPTS. A friend and I dined here a few weeks ago and I always tip to the full dollar amount. When the charge went through, I noticed on my credit card bill that the amount had cents on it. Luckily, I'm neurotic enough to save my receipts for a few weeks and saw that I was overcharged. Yes, it was under a dollar, but charging any amount over what a customer tips is illegal. I contacted the manager and of course at first, no response. After a couple weeks and a couple more tries, I finally got in touch. I sent her the image of the receipt. She looks back and basically implies it's only cents and she can refund that amount back to my credit card or deduct from my next visit. I'm like "uh???" And she says "okay, $5" with a smiley face. HAH. This whole time, I was trying to be nice. But this tipped me over the edge. I gave her an earful that she doesn't seem concerned her staff just adds extra charges to bills -- not even one apology at this point. And working in the restaurant business with family members owning restaurants, this is unacceptable and should be addressed with more gravity. Typically restaurants should offer a complete refund or a gift certificate or something. But nope, this lady is trying to haggle $5 with me. Lol. -------- Update: the server mixed my card with my friends and switched our bills. still offering to refund me back the cents -- forget it. Very authentic Thai food which is rare in the South Bay, very nice staff as well. Portions are relatively small. I eat pretty spicy food (like I am ok with habanero) and their level of spiciness is indeed Spicy! So brace yourself before you order anything spicy, not your typically Americanized Asian 'spicy' food. thai grata i am not a fan. a friend recommended this restaurant when i stated i was craving thai food. when i'm on the south side i usually go to oros thai but because they don't do indoor dining yet, i went here. the place had maybe two tables occupied but a lot of people coming in for pick up. we bought spicy basil fried rice with seafood and pad thai with prawns. the food came out rather quickly which was nice since we were starving. the pad thai was a little to "wet" for my liking. i figured i'd just take it home and eat some fried rice with my cousin. their medium spice is no joke, be careful! the rice was the star of the show. my sister ate my leftovers and said that the noodles were too wet as well. at least i know i'm not crazy. if i ever were to come back, i would just order their spicy basil fried rice. service was nice and prompt which i liked. they didn't continuously come to my table which i love. we shall see if we return to this establishment. read more

Came to Thai Grata for a late lunch after work and while I was waiting for my tires to get fixed at the nearby Wheel Works (it's a great walk, just in case you're wondering). I love their affordable and diverse lunch special options. OODLES OF NOODLES! I got the Pad Kee Mao with calamari...YES calamari is an option for your meat! They also have lots of veggie options and meat too. So everyone will find something they want! Food wise, the taste was there, portion was great (I didn't have to take any home, and I didn't leave overly stuffed), and there were people from nearby businesses and workplaces eating here. I wish I had more pieces of calamari (grilled), but I'm glad there was a big portion of noodles. They also brought me some house soup to start with, but it was a hot day so I didn't have any of it. I love that the service team were actually comprised of Southeast Asian folks. I think having people who know about the culture and the food that's being served makes the experience (even lunch) that much better. Some extra tips and tricks: No wifi here, but there are a bunch of places nearby that do have it...like TLeaf for boba and Starbucks as well in the same plaza. Roti Prata, Thai Iced Tea, and Chicken Pad Thai are my favorites when I come here. The roti prata comes warm and crispy served with their yummy yellow curry sauce. The roti is enough to feed two people and is cut similarly to pizza pie slices. I recommend ordering the Thai Iced Tea with light ice so you get more of the drink itself. It's pretty sweet but hits the spot. The Chicken Pad Thai can be dry at times but if you ask for a bit more sauce, it'll make the dish all the more better. I came here for my first time for dinner with my dad. Upon seeing the menu, my first thought was "wow, this is kind of expensive, but I'm craving Thai food, so hopefully it's good." We ordered the pineapple fried rice, pad thai, and red curry (mild). The dishes were rather large which was great since we were both starving. The food was alright; I definitely left feeling full. It was good but I've had better elsewhere. The fried rice was served in half a pineapple, so the rice at the bottom was definitely very pineapple-y. Yum. There was also a few pieces of shrimp but I personally thought the shrimp was not very fresh and slightly over cooked. However, the amount of pineapple taste in the dish was just right. The pad thai was pretty good. When first served, it doesn't look like a whole lot, but the noodles are hidden underneath each other and it's actually a very generous sized serving. Finally, the red curry with a side of steamed rice was delicious. My dad ordered it mild spicy which I thought wasn't spicy at all. Next time, I'll probably get medium. But the curry was really tasty. It had some bamboo shoots in it which was definitely a plus. One bowl of curry could probably be eaten with two or three bowls of steamed rice depending on how much curry you eat with the rice. The service was decent. We were checked on every now and then and they even offered to box and bag up our leftover food for us. I came here for to celebrate a surprise bday celebration. It was very easy to make reservations for a party of 17 people. I got there 30 minutes before the reservation time, and the table was already set. The waitress was really nice and they allowed me to sit and wait for the rest of the guests to arrive. I got my drink right away, too. I brought an ice cream cake for the bday girl, and they helped me hide it in the freezer. =) When everyone arrived, the waitress stopped by to take our orders. I decided to order the Pad See Ew with chicken ($9), which is pan fried flat rice noodle with sweet soy sauce, egg, and broccoli. Our food came out fairly quick, and probably within 10 minutes of ordering. It was nice that all the food came out all at once, so no one really had to wait and watch the rest eat. The Pad See Ew was really good. The noodles was chewy, so it wasn't overcooked. There was plenty of egg and broccoli in the dish. I'd definitely order this again, but I can't wait to try other dishes in the future. When I was done with my meal, I went to the kitchen area to ask for the ice cream cake. It was nice of them to try to put it on a plate, but I left it in the original box. The waitress even had paper plates ready for me. Since it was an ice cream cake, they gave me silver forks instead of plastic forks, too. After we paid, we continued chatting at our table for another hour. It's better than Good. It's Grata! The eight noodle and four fried rice dishes are the same price, depending on the meat.. It was a little slimy when served and, as usual, it was better at home the next day after being refrigerated. I wish they would put Leftover Pad Thai on the menu. The yellow curry was tasty. The pad see ew, which they said was too sweet, was delicious, as was their beef fried rice. Our daughter suggested that we have dinner here this evening, and we're glad that we took her advice. We have ordered carryout from here once or twice in the past, and this is the first time to dine in. We're not big eaters, so we generally order an appetizer or two, along with a couple main dishes, and share everything. The Tom Kha soup with prawns was exceptionally tasteful, as were the Crispy Veggie Thai Spring Rolls. The main dishes that we shared were the Spicy Eggplant with tofu and Red Curry with chicken. Meh. For some reason, I remember Thai Grata to be much better than it really is. Even with 3.5 stars on yelp, I decided to dine in. The restaurant was fairly empty on a Wednesday night. The service was quick and attentive, but the dishes lacked flavor! I ordered the pad see ew, tom yum noodle soup, and satay chicken and didn't love any of it. Pad see ew needs more seasoning, tom yum was way too sweet, not sour or spicy enough (even though I ordered medium spice), satay chicken was okay. However, I did enjoy the pickled cucumbers and peanut sauce that came with the satay chicken. I honestly wouldn't come back, as there are better Thai restaurants around South Bay.
