Used to be thrilled at having a Thai place in Alamosa and it was decently good. It's gone steadily downhill tho. The last several times I've gone it's tasted much too fishy and food quality is not fresh. My partner and I ate here a few months ago when we were in the area to visit the sand dunes. I was very excited to have such a well-reviewed Thai place in this small town, but I was very let down. We called in an order for Pad Thai and Chicken Fried Rice; when we went to pick it up, the man at the front desk couldn't have been less interested in working there. He was unfriendly, unsmiling, and seemingly ungrateful for our business. He rang us up with barely a word, and we left without a good-bye or thank you. When we got back to the hotel to eat, I can't even describe my disappointment. Both dishes smelled and tasted overwhelmingly of fish sauce, to the point that I questioned whether the chicken was edible. I ate as much as I could, but the flavor was so pervasive and sickening I couldn't finish. Needless to say, I was starving for breakfast the next morning. Definitely recommend. My boyfriend & I were coming through Alamosa, had a craving for sushi, and Thai Hut popped up in our search. We were a little uncertain when we first walked in as there was no other diners here, but decided to stay. I got the Spicy Tuna Roll and it was fantastic. Just the right proportions on the ingredients and very nice presentation (was half gone before I could snap a pic). Boyfriend got the Pad See Ew with shrimp, and gooood. Food is not served how described on the menu. I ordered a Spicy Tuna Roll. There was very little flavor and it was definitely not spicy. When I brought the food back, she said that it wasn't supposed to be spicy and the other ingredients listed are not supposed to be in the roll. We were in Alamosa for a night and decided to give Thai Hut a try. We called them up around 8:15pm and realized that they are open for only another 45 minutes (their business hours are not on Yelp). Luckily, Thai Hut was only a 3 minute drive from where we were staying (all places in Alamosa are pretty close to each other). We got a Salmon roll and a serving of the Pad See Ew. The Salmon roll was great and got us excited for the main course. The Pad See Ew was, however, a little too sweet for our palate. We later realized that we had forgotten to specify the spice level (we weren't asked either). We always end up sticking to the medium to high spice levels, however, from the taste, it seemed that we got the 'mild'. Also, the checks don't come to your table, which we didn't realize. I've never experienced so much heartburn and gas which literally kept me up all night from green curry not even in Bangkok. That said, it was filled with excellent chicken and vegetables. My mom ordered pad Thai - her complaint was no lime and they use those flakes to make it spicy, both of which were "medium" (#3). At best, mediocre. Since they are the only game in town they can charge those ridiculous high prices (roughly $30 for 2 disappointing dishes). Even worse, I really hate it when restaurants assume that the change is a tip. I don't care about the .60 Or whatever it was on out take out order; but i, the customer, should have that say, not the restaurant. This was my first visit at the recommendation of a dear friend. Without a doubt, I will be returning here again! I ordered the pad Thai and it was delicious! It is a lovely restaurant with a lot of room for hungry patrons. My friend said their sushi is some of the best she has had. The service was very good and we left they there completely satisfied. Living in the San Luis Valley, so far from the front range, it's hard to find good Asian cuisine here. Thai Hut is amazing!!! What a find...Brooke was our waitress, she couldn't have been more friendly, informative and helpful! There was a small miscommunication about the bill at the end of the meal, (menu not waitress) and the owner and our fabulous waitress went out of their way to make it right, that just means so much! I have been in the restaurant industry my whole life and I know what it takes to have someone just really make you feel like your opinion matters, thank you Brooke! After an amazing meal of fresh, FRESH Sushi, amazingly delicious bowls and some great apps, this is by far my favorite food stop when I come to Alamosa, cannot wait to bring my family back! read more

I rarely give a restaurant five stars but just like everyone has been saying, this place is BOMB! My husband and I were heading back home (to northern Colorado) and we were passing by and saw the reviews and decided to stop! I got the beef soup and the hubby got the basil beef. The soup comes with a bunch of noodles and it's a nice light broth. The basil beef is a nice, simple stir fry that has a bunch of flavor. For an appetizer, we got the fried spring rolls and it was a perfect portion size before a meal. They are still very new and haven't gotten there liquor license but we were told next month! From what I hear, people have been craving variety in the small town of Alamosa and this does just that! We will definitely go out of our way to come back here and eat. read more

YAY! Affordable & Fresh sushi in Alamosa! Yes, this is a Thai food place, but their Sushi/Sashimi offering is delightfully wonderful. Coming from the West Coast..it's obvious that you can't get Ocean Fresh fish...but this was pretty darn fresh! Presentation was amazing and up to par with a big city joint! We have been going there for years on lunches, date nights, and every type of night in between. 3 years ago their food was the best in the valley and in my opinion some of the best Thai that I have ever had. I do not say that lightly :) but over the years they have definitely become inconsistent. We used to ALWAYS know we were getting consistent dishes but I assume they only use what's fresh and that's why the dishes vary from time to time. That's my only complaint. read more

Have eaten here several times, always been great food & service. The sushi is exceptional and way above what you expect in this area. The Thai menu is very good and portions are always enough. The bento boxes for lunch are great and sevice is always quick enough for a good lunch service. They do not have alcohol yet, but are working on getting the liquor license. read more

Worst Thai food I have ordered out ever. I ordered Vegetable Pad Thai and it had a weird burnt taste to it and was awful. It had 2 pc of wilted rotted looked broccoli noodles and peanut pcs. My mom said hers was terrible and only ate a few bites as well. She ordered chicken Lo mein. We got this order to go while in Alamosa. If we lived closer I would of taken back immediately! I also appreciated that they sell sides of plain noodles and veggies for the kiddos who are allergic to eggs and nuts. I had the pad se ew and loved it. I really would not recommend eating here, not for thai food, especially at the price. Ordered the pad woon sen with shrimp and green curry: shrimp was discolored and had an odd texture, as if it had gone bad. Veggies used for the pad woon sen did not complement the dish and just comprised of soggy canned mushrooms and carrots, no other veggies. Green curry doesn't even resemble the photos on this website, definitely doesn't have a coconut milk base and more closely resembles a flavorless broth soup base. On the menu it is supposed to include bamboo shoots and basil leaves, which definitely weren't included in the curry I received. Gyoza and egg rolls were the only acceptable part of the meal, and were very basic. Sorry for the poor review but it really was disappointing and I wish I had known what to expect before going here. read more

We also asked the waitress if they had the snapper and she said yes. 3 of us were sharing the snapper. We have eaten here 5 times and continue to be blown away by the food, both sushi and Thai, each time we visit. The sushi is city quality and super fresh. Beautiful presentation. The manager and sushi chef are very friendly and are good at suggesting new things to try. Our kids love the pineapple fried rice and we love the massaman curry as well! They also have a full bar menu, but always order hot saki. Alamosa is fortunate to have this quality of food and service. We will support them every chance we get! read more

Like some other reviewers mentioned, the service was super slow and the food was average. It took nearly an hour to receive my food after I ordered. And the food was decent, but nothing to write home about. I gave them two stars because they were very friendly and apologetic. But they didn't do anything to set expectations about their very slow service. I always like businesses to succeed and I hope they well either improve their staffing to get food out in a normal amount of time and/or set expectations about the slow service when you walk in. read more

I was very much surprised. We drove 10 hours to bring our daughter to Alamosa for college. We were starving and were looking for something good to eat. We searched a few places and finally convinced everyone to have Thai. Already you could smell the food from outside so I was excited. We walked in and they were pretty busy but had a few tables open. It took awhile before we were greeted from a distance but I'm in hospitality so I understood. Then I started to get a bit irritated because 5 minutes passed and we still hadn't been approached to get say. Sign said "Please wait to be seated" so that's what we did. Finally I walked over to the server and asked if we could be seated and she said "yes go ahead and seat yourself." So we sat and waited patiently. Server finally came over to take our order. So we started telling her our order, and after the 4th order she said hold on I'll be right back let me write the order down. Long story short she was the only server for the entire restaurant we realized. The other girl was just the food runner. We got the food and it was delicious!!! One dish better than the other! Suggestion, please make sure soup is hot. Please hire more people! I would highly recommend it! Service needs major adjustment. read more

Why only three stars on a restaurant that according to almost all of the other reviews are so many more? Because as I am sitting here writing this I am about to die of thirst. The food is clearly the highlight of this place as the service is fitting of the San Luis Valley.....terrible. A word of advice for your servers; stop apologizing and step it up. As I watch them running around like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off I wonder where all of those unemployed people have been looking for work because they have clearly not stopped by here. First impressions are often very wrong. The restaurant is very beautiful and the prices reflect the ambiance. We were greeted at the door and quickly seated. Our waitress gets our drink order, while we perused the menu. I've barely had a moment to read through some of the sushi when she comes back with our beverages ready to take our order. So I explain that I'm doing Weight Watchers and ask if they have a grilled fish or chicken option and she points out the teriyaki sellections and says they come with steamed veggies. Great this is just what I need. I order the salmon. She says they can leave off the teriyaki if I want. And this is where things begin to go wrong. I say that's okay because it's just a little bit and she does not correct me. When the plate came it was ladled in sauce. I just assumed (yes, I know) that the teriyaki was brushed on during the grilling. So I've got a plate of sugary sauce coating not only my salmon but every healthy veggie on that plate except the broccoli which was able to keep itself above the pool. I scraped off the excess marinade from my salmon, ate my broccoli and grabbed my phone to see how much of the rice which was in a separate bowl, I could eat on my remaining points. The waitress comes back and sees I've set the plate aside and asks if she can take it. I hand it to her and she grabs the bowl of rice and set in on the plate. In the sticky goo. Now this is on me as much as her. I should have said I'm not finished with that but I'm the kind of person that has issues with any kind of confrontation. But she should have said, Are you done with your rice also before she touched it. Other issues: the sushi we ordered was so loosely rolled it could not be picked up with chop sticks because it collapsed under any pressure. My husband ordered an egg roll and did not get it. His chicken fried rice had a nice flavor but a mushy consistancy and was very spicy. I had 9ne bite and my lips were burning afterwards. We ordered a hot sake and were charged for an eight ounce and were only given a 4 ounce carafe (we have sushi and sake about 2-3 times a month at home so we know how big it should be and how many of those little 1-ounce cups we should get.) The waitress was nice and helpful, knowledgeable about the menu but she rushed us at every step. read more
