My husband and I came here for lunch, and it's not a bad option for Thai food. Their lunch specials are a great value! Husband got the garlic pork, and that was pretty tasty. He got his order so much faster than mine! I probably waited an extra 15 minutes. I ordered the Thai noodles #1, and once it arrived I think I waited so long because they forgot about my order. My noodles were so bloated. My dish was probably sitting for awhile before anyone noticed and brought it over. The broth itself was pretty good, but a little bland compared to Thai Cafe's. I added a bunch of their jalapeños and chili's in fish sauce to give it more flavor, but even their condiments don't compare to Thai Cafe. Thai Cafe still remains my favorite Thai restaurant in Irvine, but this is a decent alternative. Hopefully my noodle experience is just a one off, but service is very slow here in general... and they didn't come by to refill waters or check up on us or anything. My fiance and I dined here for dinner yesterday and we were utterly disappointed. We were willing to be optimistic after seeing the average star ratings on Yelp, but we didn't expect to be SO disappointed the way we were. Their food was way overpriced for what it was and it was tasteless, dry, and forgettable. Wontons - we ordered this as our appetizer to start off our meal and when it came out, we were excited to eat them, but as soon as we realized the amount of meat or lackthereof, we laughed because it seemed like a joke. The amount of meat they put on there is embarassing.. It's barely anything! How can you serve this? It would've been better if they served these just as chips because the meat portion in the wontons was that tiny. Pad Kee Mao (or shall I say "phad" kee mao because that's what they call it on the menu) - I don't think I've ever had a dish that had SO many different vegetables which didn't even match and such little portions of meat. This noodle dish had tomatoes, onions, basil, carrots, celery, to name a few. It was basically like a vegetable salad with noodles and barely any chicken. Panang curry - the flavor of the curry was good, but it was way too runny instead of milky. The meat on there was extremely dry and although they did put a lot of beef in the curry, we barely at the beef because of how dry and tasteless it was. The beef tasted like it had been sitting out to dry and they thought they could make it taste good again by adding it to some curry. Nuh uh....... Might I also add that the curry doesn't come with rice? Seriously? What kind of Thai restaurant doesn't include rice with their curry dish? The food here was truly bad but I will say that the service was good. The waiter who served us was friendly and smiled, but the food was just terrible................ My family has been coming to Thai Kitchen for years because it is one of the best Thai places in Irvine. Very authentic food, large portions, and very friendly service. My favorites are the pineapple fried rice, pad see ew, mango sticky rice, and thai tea. However, everything I've had here has tasted great. I've ordered take-out during covid several times. The wait is long so call ahead before you leave to pick it up, but the staff is upfront and accurate about how long it will take. read more

(note: review is based on what I had in February dining in, and also based on their takeout during Corona). The pad thai had the right amount of chicken and vegetables. and the noodles weren't soggy. It also wasn't too sweet or spicy, and it was so delicious. The beef panang had so many pieces of beef in it, even though it is so cheap. The curry was creamy, but had a kick to it. The last 2 times we went, there was only one waitress working the check-in desk and floor, and so everything was so slow and service was almost non-existent. The waitress was very nice and polite, but the problem is they are majorly under-staffed and need to hire more servers. It was so bad that customers literally had to walk up to the waitress with their requests because she was too busy to serve the tables properly. I've been coming to this spot as long as I can remember, around 10-15 years and this restaurant's food never disappoints. I came again with my family on a Saturday night and unfortunately there were two people that called out so there were only two servers for the whole restaurant yet they still made it work (even though it was slow at times understandably). I love how the servers are wearing traditional Thai outfits, not many Thai restaurants do that. We started with the vegetarian Tom yum soup as an appetizer and it was delicious. It has the perfect amount of spice and lemongrass. For entrees we got the spicy mint chicken, green beans and tofu, and vegetable fried rice. The spicy mint chicken is my all time favorite dish at this restaurant. You can literally smell the mint leaves as the server brings the dish to your table. The flavor is light yet very dense in flavor and you will want to lick the sauce off the plate, it is THAT good! The green beans and tofu come in a savory basil sauce and it's really good as well. The vegetable fried rice comes with a bunch of veggies and tofu and also has a good spice level and flavor. Overall I'm always very happy with my experience here, just the service can be a bit slow at times. We've been dining here for literally 25+ years and it's still our favorite Thai restaurant. It's a challenge to say which are the best dishes because I don't think I've ever had anything I don't like. That said, there are subtle differences depending on your preference on any given day. We always begin with one of their signature soups: Tom Yum or Tom Kha. The latter has coconut milk making it richer in flavor and texture. We seem to order it more for dinner and the lighter Tom Yum for lunch. Again, I don't think I've ever had a dish I didn't like though we do keep coming back to the Spicy Mint Chicken (that one has chunks of chicken) and the Basil Chicken (this one has ground chicken). It's got a good spice kick to it and you can taste the freshness of the lemongrass with every sip. It's served on a hot boiler so it stays hot for a good amount of time after it's served on the table. For entrees, we ordered the tofu and green beans, fried rice and spicy mint chicken. All three were great dishes. I would highly recommend the mint chicken dish because you don't find this in many Thai restaurants. This is a very unique dish and my first time eating something like this. The refreshing mint and spicyness of the chicken compliments each other well. The dining room is small and almost like eating inside a small house, with ample street views outside, so not the best ambiance, but if you go to Thai food just for the FOOD you won't be disappointed.
