Really not a fan - I got the steamed dumplings, pad Thai and tom yum chicken soup. I guess though, you get what you pay for? Lately I have been trying out different Thai places around NOLA. My friends and I were starving once we got there, so we went a bit crazy and ordered a lot of entrees for all of us to share. We first ordered the south sea shrimp this has shrimp with egg, curry, and their homemade sauce. This wasn't too spicy but was great, with a lot of flavor. Then we ordered the pad kee mao, this is their flat noodles with your choice of chicken or shrimp. I am a noodle fan so this was good from the usual pad thai I usually get. Last we got the beef volcano, which I love because it is a bit on the spicier side. All the entrees were big portions which you can usually share, for the price, taste, and amount they serve you I think this place is definitely worth it. read more

Came for lunch with my coworkers. We all ordered some form of a noodle dish. We were served a fried roll and hot and sour soup before our entrees - not sure if this was included in lunch regularly or just a nice freebie? Either way, we weren't charged for it and free always tastes great! Anyhow, all of our noodle dishes (pad thai and pad see ew) were AWESOME! Absolutely zero complaints. Nothing to write home about except very friendly staff. My boyfriend and I came here the other night when we saw the sign that Basil Leaf was closing and this place Thai Mint was taking over. Basil Leaf was one of our favorite places in the city and we wanted to get one more meal in before it closed. We were extremely disappointed when we walked in and were handed Thai Mint menues even though the sign said Coming Soon :-( They informed us that the recipes were different so we poor ordered the vegan Pad Thai and an order of crispy spring rolls. We loved Basil Leaf's Pad Thai. This was not even in the realm of it. There was just no flavor and the portions were much smaller and even though the price was lower I would have paid more for my Basil Leaf pad thai. I think they forgot about our appetizer because we had to remind them and then it came out after my boyfriend had finished his meal. Called in an order in the evening. Polite lady said 15 minutes, I was there in a little less and my order was ready. Score! Gentleman in the front welcomed me as I walked in. Small-ish restaurant, with white linen on the tables. Didn't notice much more than that. Got an order of crispy spring rolls, these were yummy. Would certainly start with those again. Also ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp and the Red Curry with chicken. Holy smokes, the Red Curry was delicious...I could potentially eat that everyday. The Pad Thai was nice as well... I would definitely eat it and enjoy it again...but like I said, I had a love affair with that curry dish. Full of flavor, with a nice bite at the end. Never really do reviews unless I believe it is absolutely necessary that a restaurant deserves appropriate recognition. This place definitely checks that off! I had the Pad See Yu (sp?) and it was divine. The portion was perfect. I was kind of upset that I didn't have any leftover for later, haha. Thai Mint is my favorite Thai restaurant in the city! My personal favorite dish is the Pad Kee Mao (sometimes called Drunken Noodle at some restaurants if you're looking for a comparable dish) with tofu but the Pad Thai and curries are great too! All the veggies they use are always so fresh and tasty too! During lunch, the servings are a little smaller but they also give you a little crispy spring roll and a cup of Tom Yum soup (hot and sour style soup) which is a great deal. The staff is very nice and always very accommodating when I ask for things like tofu or no egg. They'll often double check with you about other dietary restrictions if you mention one (e.g. asking if you want egg when you ask for tofu instead of meat) which I really appreciate. Would give zero stars if possible. Went there to order takeout. On their website their hours listed they were open till 9pm but they are not (open til 8pm). We arrived at 7:20, trying to order pad thai. The person said they would have to check with the kitchen if there was enough time. Instead of going to check, the staff member helped other customers for 15 minutes before going back to the kitchen. So when the staff member returned they said the kitchen said no, which we could have understood, but the staff member not asking right away did not help us and wasted our time. Although there are Thai options that are closer to home here on the Westbank, Thai Mint on S Carrollton is so good, I am willing to cross that bridge for it! I always judge Thai restaurants by their pad woo sen, which is my favorite dish of this type of cuisine. Thai Mint's is by far the best out of all the ones that I have tried at other restaurants. It always come out steaming hot and is chock full of all the veggies and lots of chicken, which is my protein of choice. The dining room is small but cozy and large picture windows at the front of the restaurant afford fabulous views of the avenue and the passing streetcars. The staff is always very welcoming and the food is always brought out in a timely fashion. The ONLY issue that I have with this place is the parking,which is on-street (and some of these streets tend to stretch into rather shady-looking neighborhoods). This review of is based on the unprofessionalism of the staff. While trying to be seated we were willing to wait to seat our party of 8. We were told they could not seat us because we didn't have a reservation. However there was no printed or written policy presented to us or on their menu. All this was a work in progress until a couple left and gave enough space to seat us all. The waitstaff then changed their story to say somehow we couldn't be seated due to the kitchen not being able to provide service to a party of 8 but if we spilt our party then they could still somehow serve 8 people. Which means they couldn't serve 8 people sitting together but somewhere in the world they could serve 8 people split up... go figure. Ultimately, we were 'invited' to go next door... which was the sign for us to leave. In the end the food may be awesome but the lack of professionalism and the tinge of discrimination was enough that we took the invitation to leave and went next door where they readily opened up two tables and provided a wonderful lunch experience. Suffice to say I will insure that no one I know eats here, we will not offer this restaurant for candidates, or at any time. read more

My husband and I love thai food, so had to stop and try this while in New Orleans. We tried the spring rolls and coconut soup for appetizers and both were just ok. Our local place in Indianapolis is better in both categories. The spring rolls just were a little bland - not enough flavor. And the coconut soup was good, but not quite as sweet as the one we're used to. I ordered Panang Curry as my main dish and it was quite good. The vegetables were plentiful and the flavor was not too spicey. Tasted good. My hubby got the Yellow Curry and enjoyed it as well.
