This IS my go-to Thai place in the Morris County area. Service is always great, friendly staff, and the food comes out super fast - I'd say within 5 minutes of ordering. They don't make things super spicy here, which I like - because I prefer to customize the heat a lil bit by asking for the chili pepper sauce tray. It's nice to see a Thai restaurant in the area because there really aren't that many. Food here is pretty good except for the Kanom jeeb (Thai Dumpling) appetizer. It was not fresh. You can tell it was frozen (had that freezer taste to it) and not homemade. You are probably better off going to the asian supermarket and steaming some shumai for yourself instead. If you do come here, just do yourself a favor and skip this appetizer. Nothing special about it. For our entrees, we got the Gaeng Keaw Whan (Green Curry) and the Pra-Ram (Thai peanut sauce over chicken breast and broccoli). Both entrees were very tasty but not omg mind blowing. But it will definitely hit the spot if you are craving some Thai food. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Loved that they come back to fill your cup of water whenever it was needed. Stopped in for my sister-in-law's birthday dinner at her favorite restaurant, Thai NamPhet Restaurant in Rockaway. Started with great apps including, Steamed Kanom Jeeg and Fried Dumplings, Spring Rolls, Fried Calamari, Thai Buffalo Wings and Tom Yum Goog Soup. Entrees included Drunken Noodles, Red Snapper in Chili and Basil Sauce, Ped Kra Prow Duck, Basil Pork Chop followed by some Fried Ice Cream. I was really excited to try this place because all of its rave reviews. The restaurant's interior is pretty cozy not chic lol but I have no problem with that. Some of my favorite restaurants are a little hard to look at and it in no way reflects the quality of the food served. Service was slightly below average I'd say. The waitress I had was very curt and unwelcoming. Thats fine thats cool. I just want some good food. I ordered the thai basil chicken and my friend got the tom yum soup. Her soup was very flavorful and I'd order that next time. However it did contain some of the most overcooked chicken I have ever had served to me in a restaurant ever. Yummy, delicious, clean and great wait staff! The food was comparable or better than most Thai restaurants I have eaten at during the last decade. It is perfect for dining with children as the restaurant is very accommodating -- a great family place with lots of great seating. The parking lot is also great and I can find a space even when it is most crowded. It doesn't look like much as you are driving on 46, but looks are deceiving with this restaurant! read more

Since it's my birthday weekend I got to pick the restaurants-and I was in the mood for Thai. Fellow Yelpers had high praise for Thai Nam Phet and it did NOT disappoint. We started with the spring rolls and the cloud puffs. Spring rolls were ok, nothing special, but the cloud puffs were amazing-never tasted anything like them before. I also had the Tom Kha Gai soup and other than it needing a little more spice it was one of the best I've had anywhere. My wife ordered the drunken noodles and they were very tasty-she was worried about the 'heat' so only ordered medium-again VERY tasty and I would recommend them to anyone. I had the Nam Phet Seafood dish which was shrimp, scallops, squid, and mussels in a very nice curry. I'm not a Thai expert, but this was the best Thai curry dish I ever had anywhere. I just wish I had ordered the meal spicier. A note on Thai spiciness-in NJ I've found that most places underspice because most people can't take the heat. This place is no different and I screwed up and should have ordered extra spicy. Thai Nam Phet is a gem-give it a shot...and if you're up for it tell them you can take the heat!!! read more

The food was very fresh, the servers were friendly and attentive, and my boss (Who spent some time living in Thailand) thought the food was true to authenticity. The servers were very sweet and happy to patiently explained the menu, as well as give recommendations. The only thing I would change about the experience here is that it was a bit too well lit, and felt like you were eating in a casual setting. I have been to a couple of different Thai places in the area, and I would say that Thai Nam Phet has the best Thai food in the neighborhood. I have been here several times, and have tried most of their dishes. They use white meat for their chicken dishes, and the beef dishes are made with good quality beef. Their dishes also contain a good portion of meat to vegetable ratio. The dishes are very flavorful, and you can vary the spiceness of the dishes to your liking. My favorites are the Tom Kha Gai soup which is chicken soup made with coconut milk, and the Pad Kra Pow which is a chili basil stir fry made with either chicken or beef. The service is great, waitresses are very friendly, and does not take a long time to get your meal from when you ordered it. This place is BYOB, so if you want to enjoy a nice glass of wine, then you are free to bring your own. Overall, I highly recommend this place for greate Thai food. read more

The Pad Kra Pow was nothing compared to the Spicy Thai Basil I usually get at Lemon Grass in Morris Plains. Portion was so small and chicken was so over cooked. The Pad Thai smelled like dog food and tasted the same way it smelled. So disappointed I spent the amount of money I did there to only have 1 mediocre thing to eat. Super yummy!! This was my first time stopping by and I enjoyed all the entrees. My partner and I got the Thai dumplings, which were really good in flavor. For my main course, I had the Crispy Duck Salad and I was very happy with it. Next time, I will definitely get one of the duck entrees again. Yum :) I've tried almost all of the Thai restaurants in this area and this is the best one. Their pad thai has the seasoning that I'm used to - perfect balance of sweet and savory. Drunken noodles are delicious, but v. salty. Their seafood fried rice is v. delicious!! It's a bit spicy, which I love. The red curry isn't the best I've had but still pretty good. The staff is really nice and attentive, but to be honest, I've only been there when it was fairly empty (Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday nights). Take out is awesome too, if you don't want to pay tip. The food is just as delicious even after a 20 minute drive home. It's a bit pricey for dinner but if you go during lunch, they have a special that offers you a selection of the most popular dishes (though portions are a bit smaller than dinner) and either soup or salad for under $10 per person... unless you want to be more generous with your tip. Located in nearby Rockaway Thai Nam Phet is a godsend for those who are craving authentic Thai cuisine. I've only had Thai food on a few occasions and loved the flavor of the spices and curry used in their dishes. So when the misses said let's go to a Thai restaurant my choices were Hamburg, Sussex county or Rockaway. I had read the reviews and was immediately impressed. So when we arrived we were greeted right away and seated. I had called the day before to make reservations and was told that it wasn't required and there would be no problem. We settled down and the waitress brought us two wine glasses and opened and poured the wine (BYOB for those that are wondering). Our orders were taken shortly afterwards. We settled for chicken satay and curry puff for appetizers. For the entrees we ordered the Yum Ped Yang (Duck Salad) and the Pra-Ram chicken. The appetizers were delicious the chicken satay was tender and well marinated it came with a peanut sauce that was tangy and full of goodness. I have to say that the curry puffs were my favorite. It consisted of a dough dumpling type stuffed with chicken and potatoes all ground up and deep fried, served with a cucumber dipping sauce made with vinegar, simple syrup and some finely chopped red onions, red bell peppers and cucumbers, delicious. Our entrees came and I was once again blown away with the flavor of my dish. The chicken was sliced in small pieces and laid over a bed of steamed broccoli then drenched with the peanut sauce. My wife's Duck salad was delicious as well (I only had a small bite of her duck slices) her salad was fresh. The greens were crisp and the Duck was crunchy and very flavorful. The entrees are plentiful so be prepared to take some leftovers home. We also wanted to leave room for desert. We settled on the Mango delight, and the traditional Thai Coconut pudding which is served warm. Both were delicious. I give this place 5 stars because of the overall experience. This restaurant should have just stuck to takeout only or just shut down. So I came in one afternoon searching for good Thai food. I'm looking at the menu and was literally surprised how American Thai the menu was . Everything on the menu was focused toward a fast food Thai restaurant where it was nothing special. The service was another story I believe it's a family owned restaurant. The server which I'm assuming was the son was at best a takeout server where he would focus on getting you in and out the door ASAP no real social interactions. So I asked him do you serve PHO . He was still confused and thought I meant photos I said NO pho after trying to spell it out he was still confused and thought it was a stir fry noodles I said no the noodles in the soup. At this point I was about to walk out and say here's 2.00 for the bottle water. But since I was desperate in seeing if the flavor or size would make up for the crap service I decided on staying. After a couple minutes I decided to go with a Pad Thai. Once the order came out it was on a plate it looked like a kid's portion pad Thai their were more bean sprouts then noodles. Was really disappointed so I still had high hopes took a bite really no flavor or sauce. The noodles were average regular wok noodles. Overall was really unsatisfied so I just asked for a check the bill was 15.50 I paid on the card and only had a five. There was no way I would leave poor service and horrible food 5.00 dollars. So I asked the lady I'm assuming she was the son's mom for singles she gave me a disarming look and a rude manor in giving back the singles.
