At first, I was sceptical about this place because I never had Thai before. Upon searching the menu for a few minutes I found a pineapple rice and chicken dish. I know rice does not sound filling but trust me, I could not finish it. It might be because of my stomach size but i'm pretty sure I thought the same when I first went. This is the best Thai food I've ever had, although I don't do Thai that often. I've only ordered from the lunch special menu, except for appetizers. The red or green curry is delicious. You can choose chicken, pork, beef, tofu or shrimp to go with it. I always got the chicken but once I tried the tofu, I've never gone back. They do a really good job cooking the tofu, I think it might be deep fried. Pad Thai was my introduction to Thai food and when I first had it here it was outstanding - so fresh with good flavors. Lately it seems more like other Thai restaurants - a little too sweet. Chicken with cashews is good. So is Thai fried rice. Appetizers I've gotten are dumplings and spring rolls - good. The review I am leaving today is not about food, but about service. We had a 530 reservation for five and were seated. Our orders were not taken till almost 6pm. We ordered soup, appetizers and entrees...we were kicked out @730. We did not order dessert and were finishing our drinks. There were other tables open in which people could be seated. Truly disappointed as the food is decent. Shame on them! What makes it worse? My daughter has cancer and this will probably be the last meal she enjoys for awhile. Shame on the male manager, who I did call and apologized saying there were people waiting as his reasoning. Went on a Thursday night at 6:30. The inside is clean and neat, albeit a bit dated, but whatever. The server came over right away and asked if I wanted a drink (it's BYOB but they have specialty non-alcoholic drinks). I had brought wine for myself and my friend so asked for water, wine glasses and an ice bucket. I had arrived prior to my friend so I just waited a bit. As soon as my friend arrived, the server checked back to see if we wanted to order, though we weren't quite ready. We took about 15 minutes to choose our meals (a bunch of options) and were able to order fairly quickly once we realized what we wanted (meaning the other server, not the original one) noticed that we had closed our menus and were looking around a bit. The Thai spring rolls came out very quickly and were delicious. My friend ordered the Shrimp Green Curry and I ordered Shrimp Pad Thai. Both came out while we were still eating our appetizer. When we went to eat our meals, we each quickly noticed that neither of us had knives (to take the shrimp tails off with). I don't eat at Thai places often, so don't know if that's customary, but we each only had a soup spoon and a fork. As soon as the food was dropped off, we were unable to catch the attention of either server so we just went ahead and made due... my friend using her spoon to try to pry the tails off and I just ripping them off with my hands. The food itself was flavorful. The shrimp in my dish were ever-so-slightly overcooked, but the overall taste was good. The server didn't check back until the very end of our meal to see if everything was okay. Once our plates were cleared, we got the check and paid, tipping 20%. We still had wine left and there were other tables, so we continued to talk and enjoy ourselves. As a few of the other tables cleared out, the servers began setting the empty ones for lunch service for the next day. We continued to talk. Although there was a table of 4 that across the room that was JUST getting their food (at around 9:10pm...the place closes at 9:30), the server began mopping our side of the room right up to the little square around our table. Completely rude. We took that as a kick-in-the-___ to get up and leave. We got an annoyed, "Good night," from one of the servers as we left. I won't be back for dine-in, though maybe take out from time-to-time since I go through the area often enough. read more

Had Shrimp in a Clay Pot, Thai Dumplings, and Tom Yum Soup. I don't often see food being served in clay pots, and it really added a special flavor and felt very authentic. One of the best Thai restaurants I've been too. I went last year in the summer and sat in their outdoor dining, and ate indoors this year. The staff were all very nice. Amateur hour. So many things weird and wrong with this place. First, the host had an awful sense of seating. The restaurant is divided into two halves. On one side, there were 4- and 2-tops for small parties, and there was one family of 4 in this section. On the other side, there was a cut out area that was accommodating a party of approximately 10 people. The server seat our party of 2 right next to the big party. How awkward! First off, that's unbalanced if your servers are covering zones, which I doubt they do. Secondly, I as a diner am now amidst a big party that's frowning out my conversation. Second, the food wasn't good. I had Massaman curry, which I generally like. The curry broth was good, though a little on the thin side. But the filling was such a let down. The beef I ordered was tough and overcooked. The potatoes were undercooked and hadn't soaked up any of the curry. Last, the food and service don't warrant the price they're charging. read more

I've been to a few Thai places, but this is the first place I wanted to come back to only a few days after our visit. Food and service were both good. We were seated immediately and all our food came out in a timely manner. Everyone liked the spring rolls and satay at our table plus their entrees. I had the drunken noodles with tofu. I'm indifferent to tofu since most places cook it the same so I was surprised to bite into crispy tofu. Finally a place that knows how to put together a decent vegetarian meal! I finished everything on my plate. I recommend the sticky rice with mango for dessert. Not overly sweet and it leaves you satisfied. I'll definitely be back here. read more

Excellent food. My wife and I will be coming back here again (with friends). We didn't try out everything we'd have liked to as it was later on in the evening. We just saw my sister, my brother-in-law, and our new nephew at St. Clare's. (That, and wifey is pregnant and was tired.) Next time, we'll be ordering large amounts of appetizers and a smathering of entrees. I wish I remembered the exact name of the dishes we had, but I cannot. She had a veg-heavy entree, I had a delicious spicy dish. The flavours were well balanced, yet audacious. It was safely the best Thai food I've had in Jersey. Some of the best Thai food in the North Jersey area. It's a simple place in the middle of nowhere, but it has a very happy vibe and the service is quick and efficient. We went for lunch and everything was good. It has almost a family diner feel to it, but with an unmistakable Thai vibe. Missing is the typical garish Thai faux-hipster decor you see in a lot of other Thai places. I think this place focuses on great food and to be honest, I felt really comfortable inside this place. I really, really wanted to love this place, but it fell short. The staff was very gracious and friendly. The atmosphere was one step up from an area Chinese place (not a real knock, just trying to give context). I had the tom kha gai to start, and I have to say that it would have been the best I ever had if there was a bit more kick to it. It was clearly filled with fresh ingredients, and the taste of the broth brought all the ingredients very nicely. I also had a tofu Gaeng Keaw Whan (green curry). This is where I was disappointed. The ingredients were very fresh (snap to the green beans, basil freshly added and not falling apart). Unfortunately this too lacked spice, and I clearly said I wanted it spicy but not Bangkok hot. The curry itself was a lot thinner than I'm used to, and with the lack of kick it was an overall disappointment. Next time I'll branch out and see if there's more to this place. There are not a lot of Thai options in these parts, so I'm a little bit limited in local comps. Honestly I would have given 2 1/2 stars if I could because they're not yet quite A-OK in my book. read more
