Very good Thai food !!! Never had a bad dish and service excellent !! Beer is always cold !!!

I have been on a thai food kick lately. Friday night a few weeks ago, we decided to venture into the ghetto where I work, to get some thai. When we got there, we had to park a couple blocks away near a few apartment complexes. As we got out of the car, I thought I heard the tail end of a gun shot, then I saw some people frantically running around and heard a few screams. As my boyfriend and I grew up in ghettoish neighborhoods, and are completely and totally jaded to bad things happening, we kept on with our conversation about future christmas present purchases for our family, even though some kind of lightbulb was going off in my head, and even despite me saying, something is going down or about to go down over here. He shrugged his shoulders, I gave up, and we went to get our eat on. This story gets more interesting later. The food was good. Lots of choices, a gorgeous colorful menu, and very attentive service. We got thai dim sum as an appetizer, ginger fish, and pork red curry with steamed rice. Everything was tasty and just the perfect amount of spice. My only complaints were that the curry was pretty thin (almost seemed to be of a watered down quality), and the portions were honestly kinda small. I finished still hungry and without leftovers which is unheard of for me and thai food! They also gave us some free mango sticky rice that was super delish! Also, I must mention the ecclectic decor of this restaurant. It is an old house turned restaurant, complete with a t.v. playing supernanny(my friday night favorite!), and your grandma's peach furry toilet seat covers! Fastforward to after paying the bill, walking out of the restaurant back to our car discussing the food. I see about five cop cars on the street where we are parked.......hmmmmmmmm. Then I look to my immediate right and see two cops standing with a spotlight and a sniper rifle pointed at one of the apartments in the building we are parked right next to. Needless to say our car was baricaded and I was paranoid, so we went back into the restaurant to have a beer and wait it out, or so we thought. After one beer and about 15 minutes talking with the owners and their family who were so overly apologetic and concerned about us while this was happening by the way; I was restless. I made Tim go ask the cop if we could somehow drive on the sidewalk and maneuver our way out of there, he said no. Meanwhile, there is still a police stand off happening (apparently someone choked someone, has a weapon, and two hostages.....something related to drugs, i don't really know). It's getting close to closing time of the restaurant so the owner and his daughter offer us a ride home, nicest people ever. They felt so bad that we were parked over there, they even said next time you come, come inside and we will move our car so you can park in front, so sweet. Their whole family was also there watching the stand off like fireworks at Disneyland. So after a slighty awkward ride home, and picking up our car in the middle of the night after calling the police to see if it was all clear, I decided we are obligated to go back here and thank these people, and eat again! Luckily though, they are opening up a location closer to our house on 7th street by the school at the end of this month, so we will be going there instead. Oh the LBC, you so crazy! p.s. she also told us that the new location would have new choices, a slightly more sophisticated ambiance, and a brand new take out menu; well color me excited! read more

one lazy may afternoon sofia m., corazon r. and fran d.'s bum foot were hanging out, chilling, playing video games and knitting (you can guess which one i was doing-duh!) when all three became hungry. long beach being the bustling metropolis of thai restaurants we decided that thai food was the way to go. problem was we didn't know which thai restaurant to go to. so in the spirit of our fearless yelpness, we decided to go to a restaurant neither of us had ever gone to. and it paid off! the place is super super clean. it's a small establishment but makes the most of its available space. service was excellent and the food was delicious. sofia (pad sew ew) and corazon's (eggplant) dishes were pretty tasty but the green curry i ordered won me over. it was made just right. and they provide you with plenty of lime too! it's not as cheap as say, long beach thai, but it's priced rather reasonably. a great bargain for the quality of food and service. parking is kind of a crapshoot but man, even if you don't find good parking, you'll want to walk to your car a little so you can work off all the food you devoured. read more

We got off to a rough start with a mediocre appetizer imo, the pupu platter thing, but once we got past that, it was smooth sailing. Both entrees had great flavor, and I'm not even a HUGE fan of thai curries however the pineapple curry with shrimp and chicken was awesome, then we had a minty beef stir fry dish that had really good flavor.(despite the fact that basil was nowhere to be found, is this a regional thing in thailand?)..probly the entrees had the best flavor of any thai restaurant I have been to in quite a long time--I definitely want to go back and try some other things. Don't believe the article out front, I asked for extra spicy and it was barely hot, but at least fellow Yelper elite Robin Z was able to enjoy the dish as well-haha...next time I'm gonna make sure I get something thai fire hot, dang it!!! Looks like a family affair for the most part, as far as help goes, ask for Som (pronounced with a long o), she seems to know the food really well, and can descibe every dish on their menu in detail, and has a great enthusiasm and phenominal smile! She said she'd make sure my food was hotter the next time I go (unfortunately she was not our server on this visit)...I will have to hold her to her word-haha It's worth the drive, but I wish it was closer. read more

For dinner I had the Chow Mein combo( beef,shirmp,chicken) and a glass of Thai ice tea. The food and service overall was pretty good. Next time am in the city of Long Beach for a service call, i will stop by and try something different of their menu. read more

I have been ordering take out from this place for awhile now, I usually get the shrimp fried rice and the curry, since they deliver it's convenient we only get 30 min lunch. We have always gotten our order on time every time. It delicious my fvorite is that they will give you a regular Thai iced tea, I always upgrade to the extra large if they have it!! This place has become a second home for me... I'm here at least 3-4 times a month. The service is great and makes you feel welcome... The food is excellent I always start with the soup selection they have is either fish or chicken what I get, then I order the main dish which is always something new and it always satisfies me... This place used to be good until they changed ownership, it's not the same anymore. I used to order the Pad Thai and substitute the chicken for tofu - this dish is on the sweeter side. Not much on the menu that I like except for this dish. It's hard to find good asian food in this area, so being that this was an okay place, we were willing to come back time after time. It comes with an egg roll and a free Thai iced tea for lunch - both are good! But the last time I came here, the noodle was really soggy and it wasn't good. I haven't been back in awhile, so maybe it has changed? Parking lot is small, but it shouldn't be hard to find street parking. read more

Long Beach sure does have a lot of Thai restaurants. I would put this one on the higher end lunch wise. I would say on a scale of 1-10 I would give this place a 6 or 7 which is not bad. The food is good and the prices are very resonable, it just wouldn't be the type of place you would get dressed up and go to dinner for. The dishes are a tad bit too salty. Perfect for a quick and fairly quiet lunch, I think they get more phone orders than sit ins. read more

It was surprisingly good the noodles were nicely cooked also ordered a bowl of steamed rice which was delicious last but not least as a beverage I got a small ice Thai tea and it was delicious as well. Ummm... Gross. I was staying in Long Beach the night before my cruise left and my sister and I ordered from Thai Sky. BAD idea. The food was disgusting. Easily the worst Thai food I have ever had. I got Phad Thai and my sister ordered Fried Rice. Also the worst. We both ordered chicken in our respective dishes. The pieces of chicken were tiny, and few and far between. The Phad Thai and Fried Rice were seasoned with the same seasonings... and needed much more! My dish came with a slice of lime, and toward the end, I squeezed it dry to get some flavor and I ended up with horrible lime-soaked phad thai. The noodles were over-cooked and mushy. Then the best part... it made me sick! I was running to the bathroom for the next day and a half. Beware!! Our dishes were around $7 each... RIP OFF! read more

We went to Thai Sky last night with another couple. It's been really hot lately and it was very muggy outside. Expecting to get some relief when we went in the restaurant, I was very disappointed to find it hotter and stuffier inside. It was so uncomfortable, I almost suggested we leave. They had a very small window air conditioner in a wall near the ceiling. It wasn't helping at all. Anyways, we stayed and ordered larb, pad thai, tom kha kai, spring rolls, and veggie tempura. The food was very good. The soup although not as thick and creamy as I prefer had a lot of flavor. The lemongrass and ginger really popped. We ordered it medium spicy and it had a good bite but not too harsh. The larb was delicious as was the pad thai. The noodles were a bit thicker than most places and I kind of liked that better. The tempura had a lot of veggies and a good mix. the batter was perfect. The service was pretty good. the waitress kept asking if we wanted more water even when our glasses were full which was kind of weird. I think they were worried about the heat. I got kind of pissed off when though, when at the end of the meal, I desperately needed a napkin as my nose was starting to run from all the spiciness. I asked the waitress for a napkin and she went and grabbed some. Then she stood there about 8 feet away talking to a co-worker while holding the napkins...and talking...and talking. Finally, I had to interrupt and ask her to please give me the napkin! Sheesh! Anyways, good food but I would never go back there during warm weather. read more

My husband and I recently moved to the area.... and had been searching for a good thai place to go. Our seaerch has ended, this place has good/friendly service, and has a nice calm ambient. Almost feels like home. The food is yummy, and has several veggie alternatives for the herbivores as myself. I definately recommend it! read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this before! It's by far my favorite Thai place in Long Beach. I like spicy, so I usually order the tom yum goong and the nam tok beef salad. I learned early on that if you say "spicy" here, you'd better mean it. If you go for lunch, you get free thai iced tea (free refills at dinner.) And the delivery is FAST! read more

This place is gross. I found hair in my food. Lots of it. Makes you think, what is going on in that kitchen. Totally unacceptable. The staff did not care either. Wish I could give negative stars. Don't go here; there are so many other good thai places in the area that are clean and have better service. Try District Thai, Naree, or Long Beach Thai instead. read more

Since our other favorite Thai food place was closed we came here to order for pick up since it's close to my parent's house. The food was not good at all. We ordered the pad Thai, beef broccoli, egg rolls, shrimp dish. The condiment put on the pad Thai noodles had a weird smells and it looked like powder that did not dissolve. The only item I liked sadly was the egg rolls but how can you go wrong making egg rolls. My nieces boyfriend got sick from eating here, not food poisoning for Montezuma revenge (not to get into details) We will not be coming back. Prices are fair, quantities are good. Only a few parking spaces but you can park on Pacific or small streets around it. read more

I don't care about look and I live in a getto neighborhood. I just want 5 star food for cheap. I also like to deal with nice people. Well . . . the food is amazing. My wife and I love Thai food and have spent lots of money on high end Thai food only to get the same quality as is in this restaurant. It is a cultural experience but the setting is clean and the staff is friendly and responsible. It feel like a place that if something fell on the floor or was a little to old to serve they would throw it out. The best plates are Chicken Panang Curry. Tofu Tom Ka Kai Soup. Enjoy! read more

They are lucky to even get two stars. There were a number of things wrong with this place. First we were not offered something else to drink besides water. Second I ordered the Pra Ram Beef. This entree first of all comes with no rice or noodles which i found strange. Also, It says it comes with peanut sauce but it came with yellow curry. Curry grosses the hell out of me. No where does it say anything about it coming with cashews, but there were more cashews than beef. Next, My girlfriend ordered the Pad Woo Sen. It is described as coming with glass noodles with chicken, shrimp, egg, tomato, and green onion. This dish came out two minutes before mine and was missing tomato. When I sent her dish back, the servers were rude and did not know what was actually in the dish. When it came back it came after my dish, and it had about 1/4 of a tomato wedge in it, no green onion, plenty of bell pepper and celery (not in the description!), and two pieces of shrimp. I ended up eating more of my girlfriends dish than my own because she likes curry, and despite all the missing ingredients, the flavor was still alright. We were not pleased with the food, not to mention the awful smell of the restaurant. We picked up a to-go menu on the way in but left it on the way out. We will not be back. read more

They have a really good lunch menu, and you get free Thai Iced Tea with it. Pad Thai was good, and the Pad See Ew was really good as well. We like coming here for lunch. I am probably alone in this review, but I wasn't particularly impressed with this place. A bunch of people from work ordered takeout from here, and the food just seemed really dry and lacked flavor. Even pouring hot sauce on it didn't seem to help. I ordered the spicy noodle crab and it just tasted so underwhelming. I usually love any thai place that I eat at, but this one was the first one that just missed the mark completely. The thai iced tea was even bad - more ice than anything else. read more

There's definitely no shortage of Thai restaurants in Long Beach, and I have yet to come across a really bad one, although there's quite a few I have not yet been to, but this one is definitely my favorite. I usually end up getting take-out, since my bf is obsesses with eating at home for some strange reason. But when I have eaten in, the service is always top notch. I also like the decor, very homey and unique, if not a bit cheesy with the paneling, but in a good way, kind of like eating in someone's living room, complete with now-defunct sushi bar. Even when we are waiting for the take-out, they offer water and are very friendly. Of course, the food itself is the real reason I go back. The spicy crab noodles are awesome, and I have yet to have a curry there that I didn't like. The tom yum soups are great, as well. read more

This place is good and the prices are decent. We usually get the green chicken curry, beef salad (sometimes shrimp), combination fried rice, and their pad see ew is really good too. The only down side is that they charge you for rice on the side!!! Now, I understand if you want like 5 bowls of rice, but when you are ordering curry, it's supposed to be come with rice! Now, I don't remember if they've charged us in the past, but the last time I went, they did (and I specifically asked if it came with curry--they said no). Cozy little restaurant on a quiet part of Pacific Ave. with friendly staff and reasonably priced dishes. The flavor on the entrees were outstanding. I had the garlic pepper chicken which was garlicky, spicy (at my request) and very juicy. Friend had the curry which was also tasty. Wish this place had more hype, because it deserves it! Kinda hard to find when driving at night, but well worth the cool discovery. read more

This is probably my favorite Thai Place in or Near Wrigley!!!! The entire staff are so polite, knowledgeable and Most importantly... they have THE BEST FOOD! Wonton soup and Papaya salad are my favorite. The BBQ Ribs, Pad Thai and pad see yew are incredible as well!! I come here at least once a week.. great prices! read more
