I ordered the basil friend rice with shrimp and the rice was okay it could have had more basil and also the shrimp was very soft and not tasteful the flavor of the rice was good to me a little spicy but not to overwhelming. when I was told for the lunch special a appetizer I expected a bigger portion. They serve massive portions of your selected protein, so keep that in mind when ordering; I often get two meals for the price of one. Steamed Shrimp Dumplings are a new addition to the menu that you should try. Spicy Thai Sausage is another great appetizer. My favorite entrees are their Duck Pad Thai, Crab Meat Fried Rice, and especially the Khao Kai Jieaw Dinner Special: a spicy omelet served over white rice with either prawn or crab. This. Place. Is. Awesome!!!! It's so rare to have a really good and not too pricey place in this neighborhood but now we finally have one (and it's not Mexican). Went in on my way home for takeout which was a good call because there are only a couple of stools in the front; good if you're eating lunch and just need a place to sit but you can't come for a sit down dinner. We went with the pad Thai, pad see ew, and calamari. While the food was being prepped I chatted with the girl taking orders who is ACTUALLY Thai (so she knows what she's doing) and was offered some Thai coffee, which is basically coffee, sugar, and cream. DELICIOUS. GET IT. The food was awesome- right up to par with food I've had in Thailand and the better places in Manhattan. I'm so disappointed... First time we ordered in (a couple of weeks ago) we absolutely loved the food! It's was easily one of the best pad that I've ever had. Tonight we ordered the Pad Thai again and is was dry and tasteless. We also ordered the pad see ew and it tasted like (I hate to say it) poop. No joke! The food tasted like poop. Even the smell was unbearable! We could not eat it. One of the poorest shrimp Pad Thai in my life. It tasted nothing like it. The shrimp felt like fat to chew on and tasted like cardboard. I was very disappointed as I love Thai food and expected so much from this place considering its rating. The noodles were completely separated from the sauce or anything else in the dish. They were pale and over cooked. We also ordered fried rice with chicken which wasn't anything special either but not as bad as the pad Thai. Just ordered from this place two nights in a row while I was sick. This place is great if you order the right things. I ordered the tom kha soup both nights, mildly spicy. The soup had the right spice and tang and felt like it was clearing out my throat. The first night, I ordered it with chicken. There way way too much chicken and it was dry and bland. The next night, I ordered it with veggies only which was way better and really allowed the focus to stay on the incredible broth. The first night, I got the pad kee mao, my classic Thai order. Though it was decent, definitely not the best I had. It had a strong smell that I haven't experienced in this dish before. The second night, I got panang curry, again mildly spicy and this was pretty spicy for me (I'm not crazy into spicy things but I can handle a bit of spice). This also felt like it was doing good things for me body. For now, I may keep ordering from here but may stay away from noodle dishes. read more
