After coming again, I am changing my review to 4 stars. This time I came for dinner and got the green curry and my friends got the pad thai, thai noodle soup and drunken noodles. The only amazing dish was the drunken noodles. The green curry had vegetables that were too hard, the pad thai was too sweet and too oily and the thai noodle soup was not flavorful enough. Stopped by for a quick lunch just as they opened for service for the day. They do have lunch specials however what struck me odd is the lunch special itself ranges from $8.95 to $11.95 depending on the choice of protein. However you have to add $3 more to add an app and a drink. At most other places I've had 'lunch specials', the initial cost is inclusive of either a soup and/or an app and maybe a drink and already bundled like that. Otherwise I'm not sure how exactly it's a lunch special... Onto the service. Again since we were the first ones there it was fast and staff was courteous enough. I would have preferred that they had come by and checked up on us after serving our food, but other patrons had already started coming in for lunch by then so I'm not sure if that entirely justifies ignoring us for the remainder of lunch, till we asked for the check. The food was good with the exception of the app we got. The calamari was underwhelming.However the kao soi I got was delicious. A flavorful curry coconut milk broth, full of noodle, chicken and shrimp. Definitely on the spicier side. We also got the seafood pattaya parade dish which was spicy but worth it. Great basil flavor to it, similar to a ka pow sauce. A good lunch option for thai food in the area. Honestly order from the regular menu as it might just be more cost effective with the amount of food you get versus a lunch special. read more

This is the second time here. This place has good Thai Ice tea, I'm not usually a fan but it was great. The place it small but it can accommodate everyone We made reservations for a party of 24 only 20 showed up and they made room for us. I would recommend come during the lunch hour 11Am till 3PM. They have some good specials, the table ordered a variety but the top were drunken noodles, thai fried rice, and curry. I got the seafood, lo mein with veggie rolls and thai ice tea. You can decide to place chicken, beef, tofu and shrimp and/or seafood in your entrees. The table consiat or seafood and chicken and one tofu. The spice level were awesome. The waiter was always there he did not disappear and not come back, he always was there, made me feel bad. Do come and enjoy with a group but the down side was they were unable to split our checks. They could only split it 7 cards and the rest cash. So if you do go have a game plan if you are more then 7+ people on who is paying and how you are splitting the bill. The food was good. The waitress is not knowledgeable of the food. The menu is miss leading. I like (Pad Krapow Gai) mince chicken with basil and chilli sauce. It is one of my favorite Thai dish. However the menu doesn't say this dish have basil in it. When I ask the waitress to ask the chief to cook it with basil. She told me that it is not allowed... I insisted and she firmly told me no. OK... The dish came out cooked with basil anyway... Like how a traditional minced chicken with basil and chili sauce should be cooked. Loved this place for a very long time! Haven't been here in a while and still hasn't changed. Good service and great food! For apps we enjoyed the chicken satay, angel chicken wing (more like a deep fried land and sea patty but so good!) and curry puff. We tried the calamari but the batter was a little too dry and bland for me. Also try the tom yum soup which is very good. For entrees, the classic drunken noodles, pad see eaw (clear noodles stir fry), and Penang chicken is a never fail! During lunch they have a $20 special that includes a drink, app and entree. Very delicious food! The service was amazing and everything was prepared so fast. My boyfriend and I love Thai food and this place did not disappoint. Everything was so clean and nice. For appetizers we had the fried calamari and a Tom Yum soup with shrimp. For entrees we had the Drunken Noodles with tofu and the Thai fried rice with tofu. It was all so good we finished it so fast. Everything was seasoned and prepared perfectly. We had absolutely no complaints. Would 100% recommend Thai Tanium to everyone. Sorry I have no pictures of the food. I asked for extra spicy lime juice with my larb Gai and Brussel sprouts salad to go. They gave me 2 tablespoons in 2 separate dishes and charged me $3.00 for it. I did not use a spice tray or ask for anything else. Very poor customer relations. I am there at least once a week and always tip well. Tried this thai restaurant for my first time yesterday (takeout) and got pad see eew with chicken and it was decent. It was the regular portion and for the price it was a decent portion - not huge, not small. The flavor was there but not amazing. For carry out orders they do not include plastic wear or napkins. I had a 10 minute drive home and the food was still warm so that was awesome! I picked up at about 12:30pm and there was a decent crowd - it looked pretty chill and relaxing in there. This is definitely a place that you dine in! I will of course try this place again, but will definitely be eating there! read more

Definitely a cute spot, kinda hidden in the area. My friends have been going for years and always love it but this was my first time. We sat outside because it was beautiful! Some of the tables had umbrellas and some did not but that didn't matter for us on this day. The inside had a good amount of seating as well and the decor was cute and dark. They only had one waitress as I noticed, and she seemed to have a lot going on as there were a good amount of people there. So she wasn't really keeping track of our water cups or dishes when we finished. Which didn't bother me but it would be harder for her if they had a few more costumers. Which they ended up having more when we finished our meal. But we ended up getting two apps. The crab rangoon's weren't as good as I had hoped, there wasn't as much filling as you would hope but the sweet&sour sauce was delicious. The other app was yummy, and the chicken was cooked great. My friends got curry which they both enjoyed but my one friend got veggie, in which my second friend had them hoped she would've gotten veggie because getting just chicken wasn't enough in her opinion. I got the pineapple fried rice which was great! The chicken and shrimp were good, the tails were left on the shrimp which doesn't bother me but can bother others. I would've wanted a side sauce as the meal was a bit dry. But they did have A LOT of cashews! 3.5 stars - overall everything tasted as it should. Appropriate. Comforting local Thai address. BroS had friends living in k-lands in the past and they said the food was standard level so we thought to give them a go for our family weekend lunch in the 'burbs. I can imagine them being busy during the weekday lunch hours due to the ginormous MedImmune campus across the big street. We expected them to offer the full spice tray and they didn't disappoint. For those who know would understand. The staff was friendly and efficient. Very easygoing team. Foodporn as always will be most helpful. The appetizers and entrees tasted as expected which is a good thing. Nothing wrong w/meeting the standard. We'll be back next time to taste their drunken noodle. Plus any protein dish which mingles w/basils. Oh, gotta see if they cook w/those cute thai eggplants too. Ordered the spicy duck salad. It wasn't too spicy, but still pretty good. I enjoyed my dish, but I'm not sure it warrants a return visit for that though. Prob will try something else if/when I come back. The waitress got confused with some of our orders (because my difficult friends like to customize their orders to be healthier...). I came here for lunch today with a few friends and really enjoyed it! Usually Kentlands is packed, especially during Friday lunches, but we were lucky and were immediately seated. I had the Mixed Veggie Pad Thai and LOVED it! Although you can pick between chicken, beef, tofu, and mixed veggie, the mixed veggie one also had a good amount of tofu, which made me extra happy. The pad thai had the perfect amount of sauce and was delicious. The food came out quickly, but service was subpar. It seemed like we were being rushed (we were asked pretty quickly if we wanted boxes for our food) and our water wasn't refilled near the end. Both were good, the drunken noodle was surprisingly spicier than I thought it would be. I believe, there were peanuts blended into the panang curry so it was slightly chunkier/thicker than other panang curries I have had. The fried tofu is pretty bland, even with the sauce. Eating at Thai Tanium was a roller coaster of flavors. The Pad See Ew with tofu was generally not bad. The tofu itself was nicely textured and the noodles were decent. But the dish was definitely a bit too salty. The Thai Fried Rice on the other hand was too bland. The rice was flavorless and the pork was dry. But then we get to the Pad Thai. Holy willy wonka-- this was, without a doubt, the sweetest Pad Thai I have ever had in my life. It tasted like it was dunked in in sweet and sour sauce. This was the carny food of Thailand. I stand corrected. Having tried the three local thai restaurants within our immediate vicinity, i.e., Thai Tanium, Sirwan Thai, and Thai Express, I have to say that Thai Tanium is a distance third. We just finished our Doordash pick-up dinner order and found the meal completely underwhelming with a huge FYI concern for my fellow yelpers - I'll get to it in a second. Anyway, we ordered the following for our dinner tonight - 1) Chicken Satay app, 2) 2x Pad See Eaw with Beef, and 3) Crispy Duck***. The texture of the satay chicken made it feel like it was either overcooked or just not the freshest. The peanut sauce that came with it was wonderful as was the cucumber relish. The 2x Beef Pad See Eaw was pretty bland, had to really add on the fish sauce and hot sauce condiments to bring it up a level. All this said, the really disappointing and EGREGIOUS part of the whole dinner was the crispy duck. ACTUALLY, we ordered crispy duck, we did NOT receive crispy duck (we eat lots of roast ducks, peking ducks, etc. from restaurants in the local areas so we KNOW what duck tastes like and its texture!). They, without alerting us at all, substituted the duck with PORK - i.e., a cheaper meat! In fact, the pork was the char siu pork, pretty much the same RED pork that you can get at any of the authentic Chinese restaurants in the DMV! If we were of the non-pork eating persuasions, e.g., Jewish, Muslim, etc., this would have been a HUGE and UNBELIEVABLE deal. Fortunately, we were not and let it go, but wanted to at least alert fellow yelpers. I can definitively say, no more Thai Tanium ever again! read more

After coming for dinner on a weekday, I can say that the food is good, but not the best Thai food that I've ever had. I only got to try the Pad Thai, and it was good, but not great. It looked like it would have a lot of flavor because it has a more intense orange color than more Pad Thai dishes, but I didn't think the Pad Thai had a lot of flavor. It needed spice, a kick, or something, so hot sauce was necessary. After that, I was able to enjoy the dish a lot more. There is a plus! The Chicken Pad Thai comes with a lot of chicken, and the dinner portion is actually pretty big. I thought it was a good about of food for $10.95. I'm rating a 0.5 star less because when I went to the bathroom, it smelled absolutely awful. The bathroom didn't look necessarily dirty, but it was not pleasant to walk into when I was trying to wash my hands. read more
