Chinese broccoli with crispy pork belly

The food was absolutely delicious with rich, bold flavors. The crispy pork was the highlight--perfectly crispy, not greasy or rancid at all, and full of flavor. The tom yum noodles were amazing and tasted just like the ones in Thailand. Spicy, authentic, and incredibly satisfying. Highly recommended!

Met up with some friends here and we were all pretty happy with this place! We came late, but they were very accommodating and patient with us while we chatted and ordered. We started with the Crispy Pork Belly and it was definitely crispy! and juicy! It was good with the Thai spicy sauce it came with, but it wasn't even needed. The price seems steep at $20 for an appetizer, but they gave a lot of pieces so I believe it was worth it. My guy and I ended up splitting the Spicy Roasted Duck and it was pretty good. I would've liked more veggies along with it, but I was happy with the amount of duck. I just didn't think it was anything special. 5 stars for the pork belly, 3 stars for the duck.

My friend and I were craving glass noodle salad so we decided to come here for dinner. Upon arrival, the server informed us that this dish was no longer on the menu. We were momentarily disappointed, because a few minutes later, she came back and said they would prepare the dish for us. We ordered this salad and a spicy noodle with tofu. The salad was not as satisfying as we had hoped. The fish sauce based dressing was very salty and was not evenly distributed. The noodles soaked in this sauce, whereas the seafood were dry and flavorless. The spicy noodles were good in flavor, but the noodles were overcooked and clumpy. Food presentation was below average, only because other Thai restaurants I've visited put more effort in the presentation of their dishes. It's interesting how this is a Thai and sushi restaurant. Perhaps it's just me, but I feel this is 2 entirely different cuisines so the 2 don't necessarily complement each other. The decor is all Thai-influenced and has a homey feel to it, nothing fancy.

The last time I visited this business over a year ago, it was called Oishii Thai Japanese Cuisine. It has been renamed to Thai Thae Cuisine, but the Japanese offerings still existed. That was very confusing because was the kitchen in the process of phasing out the Japanese food with the name change? Otherwise, why was the moniker now focused on just Thai cuisine? All of the interior decor had remained the same as before including a neon 'Oishii' sign behind the sushi bar. I didn't notice any differences to the multi-page menu either. I wanted to select some Thai food for my meal. There were six choices in the Noodles section. Instead of the Pad Thai or Kee Moa, I picked the OB Woonsen which was a base of stir-fried glass noodles. The other ingredients in the claypot were egg, mushrooms, onions, snow peas, broccoli, bean sprout, cabbage, carrot, and celery. Beef was my protein of choice. The serving vessel was rather small with the pieces of beef near the top. The menu photo looked better than what I received. Had I known the portion size was going to be this limited, I would have chosen one of the two above classic dishes instead. The flavor of the OB Woonsen was mild without any spiciness. My dining experience this time wasn't as impressive, therefore I gave a three star rating to Thai Thae Cuisine.

    Vegetarian Green Curry $18.95

Full disclosure, this was ordered via Doordash. That being said, everything arrived well packaged and still warm. We ordered vegetable green curry, mock chicken kee moa, fresh spring rolls, and cheesy crabs. Everything was extremely tasty. The portion sizes are really fair for the price. The only complaint we had was that the curry was pretty thin, we generally prefer it to be thicker. The spring rolls were the highlight, in that they are a large portion and the sauces match that portion size. The sauces are also delicious. The noodles were great as well! I would maybe skip the cheesy crabs, though the flavor was good, they were a bit tough (which could have been due to delivery).

There's a Thai restaurant around every corner, so let's give this place a try! The restaurant is located in a corner in a small lot with minimal parking. There are about 10 tables inside with a sushi bar. Kind of odd for a Thai place to sell sushi but I guess it works. Our server seated us as soon as we walked in and then took our order with a smile and recommended the Yen Ta Fo. We ordered a chicken pad Thai because I use this as the bar for every Thai restaurant. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and everything tasted great! The pork belly was crispy, salty, and porky. The pad Thai was salty, sweet, sour. The Yen Ta Fo was very interesting. I have never had anything like it before. My wife described it as vinegary, salty, and savory. Pretty good, but not what I was expecting. I guess if you like tom yum, it's close to it in flavor. Overall this is a solid Thai place if you live in the area!

Came here for lunch, I was surprised at how much variety there was on the menu. Not to mention a pretty fire happy hour menu. I took updated menu pics because nothing I saw on Yelp was recent. I personally think this is a cute little gem. I noticed a lot of repeat customers come in and I totally get why. Food was good. We got some rolls from the happy hour menu, they were decent for the price, the orange chicken is good too but the real star of the show was our tender beef soup! That is my all time favorite soup and theirs is on point. They sell two versions, one with noodles and one without, just be aware because I ordered one without noodles on accident. We did get rice on the side to eat with it, which was still equally delicious. Heart shaped too, sooo cute! Their Thai tea was dreamy and it was HUGE! That was a nice touch to end our meal. Overall, I like this place. My only con, after seating us, they just left us and didn't give us menu's. We waited awhile. I noticed one waitress was serving everyone around us and the other went to clean a table and they didn't give us menus until I flagged one person down. That's when they acknowledged us. But other than that, our experience was still good. Small and intimate place, I recommend coming in, if you're in the area.

(4/5) I had visited the previous restaurant at this location and didn't enjoy it much, so I came to Thai Thae with an open mind--and I'm glad I did! I ordered the pork stir-fried with garlic and my go-to at any Thai restaurant: chicken Pad Thai. The flavors were authentic, well-balanced, and satisfying--especially the Pad Thai, which hit all the right notes. I'd give the food a solid 4.5/5. The ambience is a huge improvement from the old place. The space feels cleaner, brighter, and much more inviting, which makes dining here a pleasant experience. Definitely 5/5 for ambience. The only downside was the slow service, which brought my overall experience down a bit. Hopefully, it's just a one-off and things will improve with time. For now, I'd give service 3.5/5, but I'm looking forward to coming back and updating this review! Always happy to support local gems. #SmallBusinessSupporter #AsianFoodIsNo1

Food was incredible. The best Thai food I've had in San Diego Service was friendly, responsive and polite. Atmosphere was beautiful. If you come alone I recommended PadThai noodle. If you come with friend to share togeteI recommended Crispy Pork kaPao spicy 3-4 level, Chicken fried, Larb or Namtok and PohTak seafood Soup. Don't forget to order Mango sticky rice

I felt so happy going here and I'll become a regular for sure. The interior had a lot of character and felt so cozy, which is almost rare nowadays. Everyone who served us was so kind. All the food we had was great, I think it's one of the better Pad Thais I've had in San Diego. All the fried food was crispy and not greasy. Sushi was lovely and the quality of the fish was great. The Thai tea was authentic and delicious! I'm happy this place is so close by.

It tastes homemade in the best way -- comforting, flavorful, and absolutely unforgettable. If you're craving a real taste of Thailand, this dish will take you there instantly!"

I reviewed this establishment a while back as OISHI Sushi and Thai. I originally gave them a 5-star rating. Today I treated my son and myself to a Father's Day lunch here. And instead of a 5-star rating, I wish I could give it 10 stars! Their location is quietly tucked away and unassuming but the food and service speaks volumes! Again, whether sushi roll or sashimi, the quality of fish is definitely higher here than most other establishments. And just as important, if not more, is who and how the fish is prepared. The sushi chefs are artists at their craft and obviously put a lot of care and attention into the details of their preparation and presentation. On the Thai side, if you are a fan of fried pork belly, I highly recommend this dish as a starter...or maybe not. If you start with this you may not want to eat anything else but another order of fried pork belly! It's that good! We finished with Mango and Sticky Rice. As the kids say,"IYKYK." DELICIOUS! If the food alone won't sell you on visiting, then know you would be missing out on a great and friendly staff, super attentive and helpful throughout your entire service. It's nap time! Time to dream of my next visit!

Located in a small shopping center with a few parking spaces, Tanuki is a great tapas and standard sushi spot. It leans more toward Asian‑fusion tapas with some sushi rolls and a limited selection of nigiri and sashimi. If you're looking for specialty fish, a huge roll list, or omakase, this isn't that kind of sushi place. But if you want a wide selection of sake, fun fusion tapas, and some classic sushi options, this is your spot. I love that they have a small bar and that cozy, true hole‑in‑the‑wall feel. The staff is friendly, the vibe is relaxed, and it's the perfect place to come alone, with a friend, or for a casual date night. The quality is solid, and the service is fast and welcoming. I am a vegetarian so I usually opt for the avo / cucumber rolls. First thing that came out was the edamame. The edamame tasted old and the beans were soft, definitely did not taste fresh at all. We left most of it on the table. My avocado rolls then came out with black/brown spots on the avocado which looked rancid. I asked for a replacement, which was then sent to me with salmon eggs on the avocado. I am a vegetarian so I could not eat this, but at this point, I did not want to be fussy again. My friend's rolls came out with fish that looked pretty grey and unappetizing. She did not really eat this either and got a pretty bad stomach ache afterward. At this point, our miso soup had to be the hero, but we were told the soups were accidentally given to another table. We didn't want to wait around for the soup, so we paid and left. All of us were hungry after. I definitely would not return to this spot. 2 stars for the servers that were trying their best.

At first, she said the order only could be done on 1 bill. And then later she compromised with 2 bills, 5 people per table. That was nice of her! I just had 2 coffees before entering so I decided to skip ordering Thai tea. But they had a large drink menu, of fruit teas and more. My friend had the lychee tea which was very large and looked super refreshing! They also came by often to top off our waters which was nice. To eat, I ordered the $16.99~, Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with White Rice. It came with onion, green onion, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper, and cashews. The carrots were beautifully cut, but a little too crunchy for me to properly enjoy in the stir fry. Everything else was delicious! I think this could definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It was a lot for me, even after a large hike. The sauce was flavorful and not overly salty. I didn't ask for any spice level, but I think I'd choose mild or medium next time. My friends ordered-- - $12.99, Dirty Fried Chicken: This had a blitz coating of lime, mint, and spices. And it was decorated with thinly sliced green onions with a side of sweet chili sauce. The restaurant used thin rice noodles, but it didn't clump excessively compared to other restaurants. The prices are what you'd typically see at a Pan-Asian restaurant, a few dollars more than what you'd want to spend. But these kinds of restaurants, in my opinion, are for enjoying with others. So, if you're sharing food and all that-- the price is worth it (esp with the quantity that is given). Next time, I would probably order one of their noodle dishes rather than rice. I was born and raised in LA, so I've had a lot of Chinese food growing up, and I wasn't expecting to be this surprised--but I really was. I ordered the black bean eggplant and the salt and pepper chicken wings. The wings are what they're known for, but I have to start with the eggplant because it completely caught me off guard. It wasn't mushy at all--crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside, and coated in sauce without losing its texture. Every bite had depth and balance, not just saltiness. I actually meant to start with the wings, but the eggplant was so good I ended up eating half of it before even getting to them. By that point I was already getting full, but I still made sure to finish the wings--and I'm honestly excited to take the rest of the eggplant home as leftovers. By the time I got to the wings, I understood why they're popular--crispy, flavorful, and super satisfying--but what stood out to me was how both dishes complemented each other. One rich and layered, the other crisp and bright. I never got tired of eating, which honestly says a lot. I even told the staff how much I enjoyed the food and they thought I was joking, but I meant every word in saying I thought it was comparable, if not better then the food I've had in Chinatown in LA. Really glad I came here and the next time I have a chance to come back down to SD I definitely will come back here and that's not negotiable for me

Stay away from this place, seriously do NOT believe the positive reviews. We ordered on a…read morerecommendation from other people and some goofball online. Well, let me tell you. This place is NOT worth the high rating it has. We ordered the Fried Green Beans, they were cooked in oil that was obviously not to temperature. Too greasy for consumption. To make it worse? They were drowned in salt! The Crispy Beef was nothing but thick dough with no beef inside. To add insult to injury it was BURNED so badly that all you could smell was burnt dough and taste burned dough. Hardly any sauce on it as well. The Shrimp Fried Rice should have just been plain white rice for how bland it was. The Vegetable Chow Mein literally was just a container of salt. Slim noodles and salt, disgusting! We spent so much money and all of this is going right into the garbage. Stay away from this hole! It should be shut down for trying to poison people. Feels like I am going to go blind from the amount of salt I ingested from only a few bites. Gross!!
