The restaurant is clean, adheres to COVID-19 restrictions, and you can grab a tiny guava candy on your way out if you so choose. Overall, Thai Village is my go-to for lunch during this pandemic. The staff are friendly and courteous, the food comes out in a timely manner, and it is one of the best Thai food in the area. The waiter served me chicken satay instead of the beef satay that I had ordered. The chicken was overcooked, dry, and tasteless. The peanut sauce was watery and did nothing to complement the chicken. The curry was a disaster! The bowl of rice might have been good....the day before I had placed my order. Shame on you! I read the menu, and the listed ingredients were not included in the food that I was served. Been here a number of times. But it's been disappointing every time. Service: The worst part is that this place is ALWAYS CROWDED. You always have to wait for seating (because there is no seating). I'd usually be fine with a little wait, but the overcrowded restaurant sacrifices service because there are so many customers and only 2-3 people working the front. I'm not usually a stickler for service; but if I get my water refill when I'm already done eating my meal, that's not okay. Also, this place is pretty filthy. They dump the previous customer's food then wipe the tables once with a dirty kitchen rag (c'mon, I'm watching you). Glasses and dishes also look old and not very clean. Price/Food: A dish costs around $10, so I expect chicken and veggies in my pad thai. However, even in their rice/noodles dishes, you'll see very minimal meat and veggies. Good for that Thai food craving, but not much else. I picked up dinner one night after yoga feeling unmotivated to cook. It was ready fast and was super hot, which was awesome since I had a drive home. Ordered Masaman Curry and Pad See Ew, both of them looked and smelled great. the Pad See Ew was great, no complaints. However the masaman, usually the star of the show, was bland. Usually the broth is chock-full of vegetables, chicken (we ordered chicken), potatoes, and more; this just had 1-2 potato pieces and some chicken. Not really that great food-broth ratio; also the curry was super light and not very flavorful. Worst Thai food i have ever tried. The place didn't look good. The water glass was stinking. My stomach started hurting as soon as i left the place.. the staff is not friendly as well. We ordered extra spicy because we know we can tolerate it. Many more things to add The table was wet we asked them to clean so that we can rest out hand on the table. No one came to do so and at the end we have do by ourselves by using napkin provided. The drunken noodle was dry. May be you should try another recipes. Spicy crispy tofu was not even a tofu. It was fried paneer with added some store bought sticky sauce.. the sauce was so sticky that i can use it as a glue. We didn't like the food and didn't like your service so in that regards 8%tip is still better.. you deserve nothing for what we had. I ordered the Mango shrimp (14.95) which also came with white rice. The shrimp were cooked just right and the mango slices and sauce were amazing. I'd definitely try this dish again. I came here for dinner on a weekend evening, and enjoyed my meal here. I thought the wait staff was a bit grumpy, and the service was a little slow, but otherwise everything was great. The portion sizes were reasonable, and the prices were pretty cheap (although not poor college student cheap). I thought all the dishes we ordered had great flavor, although I don't know Thai cuisine very well and so I cannot comment on the authenticity of the flavors. Wanted to review since they have a bad star rating. The food was so good. I got the pineapple fried rice with shrimp and chicken satay plus jasmine rice. Rice wasn't salted enough for my taste but I like salty rice, not everyone does. The fried rice was a bit spicy but nothing unmanageable. The only thing that could've made it better was more shrimp! But it was so delicious. The chicken satay didn't come with enough sauce but I will just ask for extra next time. The sauce and chicken itself were delicious. Terrible management, horrible food safety standards, and unacceptable service!! TWO ANAPHYLACTIC ALLERGIC REACTIONS from complete lack of food safety. I am never going back! People with allergies, beware! They do not know what is in the food that they are serving. The service here is terrible. Our party had two anaphylactic allergic reactions after being served chicken with hidden peanuts after being assured multiple times by the waitress and kitchen staff that the chicken contained no nuts. They refused to accept responsibility as we were vomiting for 1.5 hours in the bathroom and the head chef/manager and his wife yelled at us and then refused to speak to us after. In fact, the manager was speaking to us briefly (better described as harsh scolding to teenage, nauseous girls) when he excused himself with a "I'll be right back" and never returned. Their offer was to void the cost of the single appetizer that caused the allergic reaction (out of the entire meal for our party of 15). Only after almost 3 hours of discussion did they agree to give us a small discount on the remainder of our meal. They do not know what is in the food that they are serving and have no compassion or care for customers when their unacceptable food safety standards cause medical emergencies. Allergy aside, service was slow. After 2.5 hours, our party of 13 was still missing several dishes that never showed up, even though they claimed that they had already served us. I recognize its many faults -- surly service, unremarkable food, and a tendency to be full of braying frat boys on a Saturday evening -- and yet I keep on coming back. I've eaten here perhaps ten times now, and never left particularly impressed. It serves up passable versions of Thai classics at decent prices, in a no-frills, BYOB setting. My typical order here is the Pad See Ew, which is greasier than I'd like, but in a rather endearing way. Perhaps damningly, convenience is Thai Village's main selling point, located on Nassau Street a few blocks from campus, with a reasonable amount of outdoor seating for warmer months. Princeton deserves a better Thai restaurant but for the time being, I'll begrudgingly keep on coming back here. read more

The flavor of the beef salad didn't hint much citrus/lime but more spice/sweet and sour. The thai milk tea tastes off and doesn't have its orange hue from usual thai tea brews. Went there as a group of 6 including 2 kids. We got the outside seating so can't comment on the inside, it was a nice day so the outside seating was perfect. The server did not give us any problem with the seating and got us the high chairs that we needed. We order the calamari first and that was ok, crispy, not the freshest. Ordered the fried rice for the kiddos - that was good, they both ate and enjoyed it. 2 of us had the Pad Kee Mao (which is a different name under the specials) - 1 ordered the spicy and the other was just regular, the spicy was super spicy even for us, so we mix the 2 together and it was great. The pad thai was reportedly ok. The other dish was just bland, it was seafood with rice, just did not taste like much. Should have taken a picture but the boys were having fun waving at people and I got distracted. The service was good, overall, it was ok, would visit again if I needed to. "This is not where you wanna go." I said that to myself when we were walking in the door. The sinking feeling sunk even sinkier when looking over the menu. Notable Thai favorites were missing, and I begin to wonder why so many dishes on the menu seemed to be spelled way differently. Clues. I had already ordered a Thai iced tea when we were seated, otherwise maybe I would have split. Decided to share some appetizers, and a pad Thai... just to see...keep it light, baby. We were hungry, eh? And you know that saying that goes a little something like, "The only thing you really need for a good meal is hunger..." Um, untrue! Untrue, saying sayers! Lackluster renditions these were, from bland satays to noodles. I can't imagine what Thai Village is the inspiration for this Thai Village's cooking, but can we promise each other that we'll never travel there? Update: 1* 6/17/2009 We're both battling the flu, and I wanted soup. Inside, we were promptly seated and given menus; water glasses filled. We each got a soup--I got tom yum goong, Jim got the vegetarian version; requested spicy. When the soups arrived, they weren't spicy enough to my liking, so I asked for some hot sauce--sure! Then waited, finished half of my soup, and went to the desk where the 3 servers were chatting to request the chile sauce again--OKAY! Then it was brought over (10 minutes later). These soups were fine enough, but nothing to write home about. The fried spring rolls weren't very good. Roti is not on the menu, but is on the specials board (permanently)? One piece of roti was perfect, the other a bit doughy. The sauce was very creamy and sweet; if you added an egg, you could make a sweet and savoury flan from it. After putting my glass at the edge of the table, it was filled again. The service is surly. I seriously have no idea why people rave about this place as the service is terrible and the food mediocre and mild, at best. A lot of fish sauce, not much heat, too many onions. We asked for some hot sauce, and the standard chile-garlic sauce was served. I would have liked more cucumbers and lettuce to combat the saltiness. The special was fried fish with sweet & sour sauce, so we ordered it with sauce on the side. The sauce was okay. The meat tender in nugget forms, coated by fry mix. Okay, but a bit too sweet. Rice was sticky, but a bit watery even though it wasn't gushy. Service was prompt even when our set waiter disappeared for awhile. A walk-in of 15 was promptly set up for. I'd like to go back and try some more dishes. What we had tonight was mild, but not in the least tasteless. Medium heat was mild for us, but certainly not bland (yeah!). The food came out relatively quickly. But my noodles were nothing like authentic Pad Woon Sen. My plate came with a lump of noodles and a bunch of veggies. The "Pad Woon Sen" was completely flavorless. I mean, it wasn't necessarily inedible, but it certainly was not Thai noodles. I ate my noodles anyway since I was ravenous. I was excited to find out there was a Thai restaurant in Princeton, so rather than driving to Penangs I figured I'd give this place a shot. I ordered take out and my food came out quickly, like. . . Super quick (under 10 minutes). Kinda made me nervous. The Basil chicken I got looked scary at first . . . soupy and bland looking but ended up tasting pretty decent. The pad Thai was pretty average and roti canai was thick chewy. The chicken "broth" that accompanied it was very sweet and had a strong (but pleasant) coconut flavor with just a hint of spice.
