With few options for Thai food in the Montgomery area, we were anxious to try Thai Wok In. The shrimp rolls were a little over done, the Wonton soup was tasty, and the pork thai rice was average. We ordered everything at medium spice, which the were, except the chicken green curry. It was sooo spicy I couldn't eat more than 3 or 4 bites. Super disappointed.... the other disappointment was the lack of protein in the fried rice and curry dishes. They were sparce to say the least.... We won't be returning. read more

Having been to Thailand, I always try to find the most authentic Thai food in every city and this place is one of them! The red/yellow curry, pad Thai and their fried egg rolls are personally my favorite. Lots of flavor and not too spicy. I have become a regular there, it's that good! The reason I can't give it 5 stars is because the pad thai isn't always consistent in flavor and that's what I mainly go for. Sometimes it's dry with not enough sauce. This is an update after a second dining experience. After having raved about this place, I found this visit to be a bit startling. The beef salad was a huge disappointment in that the beef used was tough and full of gristle! I found it hard to believe after having been so impressed previously. I would entreat the owner to correct this immediately. In a Thai beef salad, the beef must be outstanding: Use a quality cut that is tender, flavorful and preferably grilled. I also noticed that the chicken breast in our dish was tougher to the bite than it needed to be. May I suggest not skipping the time-honored water infusion technique used by the best oriental chefs. I hope my next visit will find everything up to par again, because you do so many things right! read more

It's so nice to have a Thai restaurant in Montgomery! This place gets at least 2 stars just for being a breath of fresh air in Tex-Mexville. The other two are made up by the prompt, friendly service and delicious food. I went here for the first time with a friend. He got the pad thai and I got kang keaw wan (still not sure how to pronounce that...thank goodness for ordering codes right? "um, I'll have the...kan...you know what? I'll have C2.") Both dishes were delicious. Mine was chicken curry in a spicy coconut milk broth. I mixed it with the rice and it was awesome, just as good cold the next day too. We both took about half of our meals home; huge portions for the $5.95 lunch price. I also like that they have free refills of everything, including the Thai tea (watch out if you get that though...extremely sweet.) The menu wasn't extensive, but I get the feeling that fewer choices means higher quality. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, especially when tired of the same-old-same-old lakefront restaurants. read more

This little place is nestled just east of the monstrous glitz of the blinking lights of a large, local Tex-Mex-Pizza restaurant (makes even less sense on the palate) in a small strip of locally owned shops. Shop local. Keep Montgomery Weird! I digress. Order the mini spring rolls. Share them with your mate. Eat six and tell her you only ate five. I've never done that but I think I may next time. The red curry is made of special delicious. Eat it. I prefer it with poultry. My chick really like chef's fried rice. Lot's of veggies. Maybe a little too healthy for me or the average carnivore. After living in Tx for 4 months and yet to eat at a thai restaurant, im glad we made thai wok our first stop. And a plus for it also being in our town. We have set a high bar for thiai food as we have eaten at great places in vegas. Thai Wok took us by suprise with their freshness and flavor? They have Awesome Tom kaw soup! Probably the best I've had! We added shrimp to ours. The flavor was outstanding, I'm even craving it now writing this review. The yum woo sen salad with shrimp was also great, the lime juice added great flavor to the veggies and shrimp. My finance loved his red curry with chicken entree. I ordered my typical pad Thai with tofu and extra veggies. This was the only dish that lacked in flavor, as it was more on the sweet side. I ordered my dish medium spice and the red curry dish thai spicy, however both dishes lacked in heat. We both had to add siratcha to our dishes when we got home. All the dishes however were really fresh and the veggies were crisp not soggy. The staff is super friendly and they grill is open to view so you can watch your food being prepared. I'm glad we found this place close to home. Since our first trip here we have now been back twice and continue to be delighted. We have now tried: the pork lap- my husband loved it. Careful if you order spicy. Green curry with shrimp- great Pad prik king with shrimp- get this, my grandma who neves tries anything outside your typical American dishes tried my dish and loved it.
