I've eaten here three times. The sushi and noodles are always tasty, but the service needs improvement and the interior needs a face lift. The one food item I was not impressed with was the Crab Rangoon. They were these sad, deflated and squished pockets that were undercooked. Fluff them up please! The Wrap-a-PadThai is awesome- love the creative egg wrap and the portion is generous. And the sushi, love it, could eat the whole plate by myself. We got three roles, the Kamikase, Thai-namite, and the Red Dragon. The kamikase was the table's favorite. The asparagus and deep fried roll was delicious. Also the presentation of the dragon made with sauces was beautiful! The service though... we had to ask for chop sticks and soy sauce dishes. And there were several times where people were left without water, and we had to search for our server who disappeared for the majority of the meal. The space could also really elevate itself by putting up curtains and covering some of the clutter visible to diners. There are also a lot of marks on the wall and the windows were dirty. Thai-Namite is a place that we stopped at to eat because it was late in the day and we hadn't had lunch as yet. By those standards the food was good and service quick. We started with the shrimp in a blanket and chicken satay which were quickly ravished. For mains we had pad Thai and the spicy tuna roll which were good too just not too memorable. I have come here to eat with a group of friends and with my boyfriend. It can get very busy during dinner hours, so plan accordingly or call ahead. Parking can be hard to find at any time of day because it is located on Brady street. Furthermore, seating is also limited. I have ordered the red dragon sushi, Milwaukee sushi, and miso soup! All of these dishes were great! You can see the chefs making the sushi if you walk to the back. There is an area on the right, behind the front counter. The sushi here tastes fresh and I enjoy the quantity. TIP: Please be careful with spice levels and it can vary with different chefs. What a find! Great Thai food on Brady Street! While looking for a place to grab an order to go, my friend mentioned Thainamite. We arrived and were welcomed with big smiles by the hostess. I let her know we were getting the order to go and she handed me a menu, let me know to ask her any questions, and then let me decide. After ordering, I was invited to take a seat and asked if my friend and I wanted water. I ordered the Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp, Hawaiian Fried Rice with Chicken, and a Thai Ice Tea. The total came out to less than $20 which I was happy about :) I wasn't sure about the Tom Yum soup; it looked red and oily. How wrong I was! The soup was extremely flavorful. The only downside was that there were only two shrimp. There were about 6 mushrooms and a few pieces of tomato floating on top. This is where they lost a star. The Hawaiian Fried Rice was plentiful and flavorful. I would recommend it to anyone who likes fried rice. There was plenty of chicken, cashews, onions, tomatoes, and pineapple pieces. The Thai ice tea was a perfect blend of Thai tea and condensed milk. Not too sweet. Service by the hostess and the other waiters was excellent. I was a little worried this place wasn't going to be "authentic" Thai food once I got there. The menu appears to cater to the masses which isn't necessarily a bad thing. They have an extensive menu with a lot of choices. Most of which appeared to be solid items. I ordered the Green Curry which was excellent! Spiced well, included lots of veggies. Protein was a little sparse but the portion sizes were good (the picture doesn't fully capture the depth of that bowl). I was unable to finish my meal because I was quite full about halfway through. They give you a portioned cup of rice on the side which I am thankful for because I always overdue it when I'm giving free reign of a mountain of jasmine rice :) Our server was incredibly nice. Worn out creaky wood floors seem more appropriate for an independent coffee house; but this is Brady St., I guess. My server was good, yay for that. Yes, just one, because going to level two can be disastrous; as there's seemingly little wiggle room at Thainamite between appropriately warm and ghost pepper hot. My curry came in a small bowl alongside a small plate with a small scoop of white rice? WTF. I want a large plate and lots of rice. Rice is like, so cheap. I went through the rice quickly, and asked for more. I don't know if I was charged an extra $2 like other reviewers say they do here for extra rice. I have always discounted Milwaukee because of my lack of familiarity and connection with the city; however, each time I return, I am increasingly satisfied with the food scene and interested by the city. On my way to Chicago, I stopped by downtown for lunch with a college friend and former neighbor. The waitress was very patient with both my menu indecisiveness and social distractibility. My fellow diner chose the pineapple fried rice, which turned out to be divine, after I had shown interest; thus, I had to select something different to maximize the menus for both of our pallets. After finally choosing the green curry because I have yet to try such a traditional dish, I was pleased with the mild spice, perfect rice, and basil aromas. It was just the right amount of food and definitely would return to explore other plates and the sushi menu. read more

I came here under the impression that they were known for their "thai" food...I ordered the pad Thai, which comes wrapped in an egg, like a half omelette. Upon tasting, I was disappointed as it wasn't what I expected out of what I'm used to when I order typical pad Thai. Personally, I love the peanut sauce flavor that I think of when I'm in the mood for pad Thai. I was under the impression that most, if not all, restaurants served this entree with the usual peanut flavored sauce. I was sadly disappointed with a distinct sweet and sour taste that it seemed the noodles were sautéed in. On the menu, it showed a little picture of a peanut, and said nothing about the sauce. When I asked the waitress for a side of some peanut sauce because this was not what I thought it would taste like, the kitchen staff obliged, but she told me no one had ever asked for a different sauce before. I feel that the right thing to do would have been to remake the dish, with the peanut sauce. I had to ask for 2 sides of the peanut sauce to try and remove some of the potent sweet & sour taste from my palate. If you are coming here looking for a pad Thai meal with peanut sauce, be aware that you have to mention that, otherwise you will be in for a surprise. My friend ordered the "volcano" chicken, which was not a generous portion and lacked flavor/spice. Overall, I would not recommend--especially for pad Thai. I have yet to try their sushi. Also, another thing I found misleading was the "special" board that was shown when you walk in, I was told those aren't on the menu because of covid. Why not just erase or remove the "specials" from the wall, to avoid obvious confusion? read more

I've been consciously avoiding Thai-Namite for some time now. Why? (Inquiring minds may want to know... or not... but I'll tell you anyways.) I think I'd been avoiding Thai-Namite as I had heard and read really mixed things about the place. Emphatic yeses. Nos with gusto. Mehs abounded. Star-rating disparities up in this hizzie, to be certain. But I Yelp, and I Yelp like there's no tomorrow, and I like to Yelp things, and I'm always willing to try a new thing. So when my anti-shooshee BFF and I wanted a food, and I wanted a sushi, and she wanted noodles, we decided to give it a go. Break it down, now. Service? Impeccable. Spot on with water refills, spot on with everything. Our server was sweet as pie, and as hands-off as she was attentive. Win. Ambiance? Okay. I like the white Xmas lights, and it's fine. Nothing insane, but nice enough. Cool. Food? More solid than expected. My miso soup was quite good, the sweet potato maki was nice as well. My spicy tuna? Just the way I like it. (I even got my BFF to try it... and she liked it! Huzzah!) My Dragon roll... something was amiss here... not sure exactly what... but it was alright. G seemed to dig her Hawaiian pork thing or whatever she ended up getting. Drinks? N/A last night... iced green tea and iced Thai coffee. Refills aplenty. Verdict? While I'm always leery of asian fusion, or places that try to do too many things, Thai-Namite's pretty solid. Met some friends here for dinner and the food and service were good. I got the crab rangoon, natch, and volcano tofu. This isn't technically on the menu (they have volcano chicken and volcano shrimp) but when I asked for tofu instead the waitress said that would be fine. I liked the sauce and it came with some crispy fried onions on top that were a nice touch. The portion of the dish was large and it came with a small pyramid of rice. I definitely needed a to-go box but when I asked for that along with some more rice, because I had eaten it all, the waitress said she'd have to place an order for that and it would be $2. *RECORD SCRATCH* What?! I have never been to a Thai restaurant that didn't put more rice in the to-go bag, if it came with the dish, and they certainly did not charge for it. The ratio of entree to rice was like 3 to 1 so I was definitely going to need more! There are so many great Thai and sushi places in the city that I won't go here again unless it's someone else's choice. read more

My wife and I had a very satisfying dinner at Thai-Namite last night on our way through Milkwaukee. A few highlights: 1. After being seated, we waited about ten minutes for a server to address us. But when our waitress finally came by, she thanked us for our patience, and that was all I needed to hear. It was annoying to wait that long while several servers bustled around to other tables, but I appreciated the acknowledgement. 2. The fresh rolls and the seaweed salad were pretty good. 3. The crispy squid was fantastic. I eat a lot of calamari and would put this in my top ten. The batter was relatively light, enhancing the squid rather than overwhelming it, and the pieces were cooked perfectly. The accompanying sauce put this dish into the stratosphere, but the calamari was good enough to eat plain, and that almost never happens. 4. The entrees were very good. The holy basil was too salty but very generous with the tofu and had a great grilled flavor that I never encounter in other versions of this dish. The veggie delight was just that--baby corns, red and green peppers, and carrots in a delicious brown sauce. 5. All that food was only $36.60 before tip. All the dishes were about a dollar less than I would expect to pay in Chicago. Maybe those are typical Milwaukee prices, but it seemed more than reasonable to me. read more

Was in Milwaukee visiting my sister and had dinner here with 6 other friends. Had reservations and was seated right away. The service here is great and the vibe is really hip and cool. Portions are huge; started with edamame, sea weed salad and 2 orders of fresh spring rolls and it was enough for all of us! I ordered the dragon maki and my sister ordered the kamikasi roll. What an awesome surprise to see a dragon made out of the sauces on our platter! I did not expect to get such a beautiful work of art; too pretty to eat!! But alas we had to dig in and it was very good. My BIL ordered nigiri and sashimi and if it wasn't good and fresh he would not have eaten it: his plate was empty! The other guest ordered traditional Thai and Asian dishes like basil beef, a sweet and sour type dish and teriyaki chicken. I thought those dishes were just ok. I was here before and got their Tom yum soup and drunken noodles and that was really tasty; so I know they can do those Thai dishes right. This review is for SUSHI and SERVICE: Ah.. how looks can be deceiving. The place is a rather cute spot on the corner of two streets and seems inviting. The girl who sat us was bubbly and interesting, and the space was really nice and neat with green walls. Our waiter seemed pretty cool at first, but disappeared for long moments throughout our meal. I had a Sauv blanc that was just ok. My husband had a pear sake he very much enjoyed. From the moment our miso 'soups' were set down (by a VERY rude and disinterested food runner, not our waiter), we knew it was a bad sign. First of all, we were sitting at a fourtop, and she sat the soups NEXT to us on the tables we were not sitting at, then walked away. The soup itself had a decent flavor but was not much aside from broth. It tasted like the packets you can buy in the grocery store, and I'm not sure it wasn't. As I was looking something up on my phone, the same rude food runner returned with our sushi, and literally handed me the plate... While I was messing with my phone! Waiter protocol here people - set down the plate, remove previous dishes, put the plate between the guests. Nope, here they handed it to me and didn't bother even clearing out miso bowls. I seriously was like "what - did that just happen??" The Mexican roll was extremely bland - the fish lacking any flavor, as did all other ingredients. The only decent thing in it was the avocado. We ordered a few pieces of fish that were served between lemon slices - essentially cooking our sushi before we ate it (though it wasn't even worth eating). And the eel probably would have been fine, aside from the fact it was served on shaved tempura. After we had our unfortunate snack I found myself again wondering: Where the hell is our waiter??? Really, just stick to THAI food as you clearly don't care about your sushi (or the way you treat your new customers). read more

This is my second time dining in this super cute but casual place with great food and energy. I had the yellow curry and the fresh rolls. The yellow curry was soooo yummy. I've had the pad thai previously and it was too sweet and (at the time) too spicy for me but the yellow curry was perfect! I think they have two chefs because both times I asked for mild and the first time it was sinus clearing but today it was just mild. (My friend had the same experience). The volcano shrimp was demolished by both of my friends. Huge thumbs up to that dish. The fresh rolls are 3 bucks and a perfect appetizer...I just wish they were cold. They were room temperature which is weird for me. (Who knows, maybe it's a thai thing I've never come across?) I had red curry with tofu, screaming with heat and spices. Yum! The service was fantastic and friendly, and the space is clean and inviting. I didn't do sushi, but my husband and nine-year-old did and they seemed happy with it. If you are looking for super fantastic sushi, you probably will be disappointed, but it *is* called Thai-Namite, after all. The sushi is just fine, fresh, lots of variety; if you have a sushi munchie craving it will probably work for you. Definitely worth a return trip. read more

"Thai-Namite." What a misleading name, for two reasons in particular. Issue #1 There's as much or more Japanese/Chinese/random Asian food to choose from as there is Thai. That doesn't mean it's a bad thing, though. Their non-Thai items, including the Crab Rangoon and their sushi rolls, are quite good. Props for the relatively inexpensive Spicy Salmon roll and the flashy Red Dragon roll as well. The menu is pretty extensive, almost too extensive. Issue #2 It suggests that the place is probably lame. But Thai-Namite is far from lame. I usually opt for the Wrap-a-Pad-Thai, which is the classic Thai-American dish with a twist: a very thin, crepe-like layer of fried egg envelopes the noodles. In addition to the great food, the service is always attentive, and it's a nice casual spot with reasonable pricing. A nice addition to Brady street's already strong dining scene. Obviously, I'm a Thai-Namite fan. It's been fun taking friends and family here since I first visited about six months ago. For those of you looking for extremely authentic Thai, I suggest you either look elsewhere or just ignore your pretensions. Thainamite I miss you already! I was in town visiting college friends and grabbed a late dinner with one of them. Being on Brady Street, it didn't matter how late it was, the place was hopping and the tables were full. We were seated quickly and I ordered the thom-kha soup to start. A steaming, colorful bowl of fresh deliciousness was placed before me. I have never had a soup where the ingredients were so fresh and colorful. My friend was envious and ordered his own quickly. I might have whimpered a bit when I got to the last spoon. I can still taste it while I write this review! I wish I could tell you what my friend ordered for dinner, but when my red chicken curry and brown rice came I kind of forgot about him. Large pieces of chicken smothered in curry sauce, fresh veggies peeking out, poured over the sticky rice- I was in heaven. It warmed my hands down to my feet in the cold Milwaukee winter. No apology what so ever but totally flipped the blame on me. This Sunday figured I would give it a try again. Ordered online at 7:45 and got the email confirmation and text. Didn't see a time when the order would be ready so tried calling. The phone line was disconnected. I thought that was weird so walked to pick it up at 8:15 thinking it'd be ready. I get there and lights are on and was told my order was cancelled since I ordered after 7:30. This not only blew my mind since they say they are open till 9pm but the fact they couldn't call or send any type of notification that they cancelled my order. I don't know who handles their customer service, but it's pretty nonexistent. If you need take out go to Elephant Cafe or Thai Kitchen. Never had a bad experience there. read more

The customer service is what garners the one star review. We have ordered form them several times from work (this will not happen again, you've lost some customers). One of my coworkers was not satisfied with a salad she ordered and was particularly disappointed because of the cost. She called to inquire and they actually called me back because I placed the order. The woman I talked with couldn't have been any ruder and made it quite clear that the customer does not come first in their economy. The attitude, the tone, the outcome...all less than one star. Food is average to below, service is waaaaaay below average.
