We dined at That Dam Place and we're so impressed with the description of the foods and the explanation of the ingredients and how they were used. It was fabulous! They had seared scallops with succotash. Scallops were cooked perfectly and I found out that I actually like succotash. We had a wonderful starter that was spanakopita. It was a wonderful spinach and feta wrapped in phyllo dough. Their handmade potato chips were amazing with thin and crispy. You can actually see right through them. They also explained how do use a Japanese mandolin to cross cut them. We finished with a blueberry bread pudding. That's one of my wife's favorites and it was fantastic. This restaurant is hidden gem that people I don't think are aware of. read more

The menu should have stated that the Bavarian Pretzel aka "A Twist of Fate" was speckled with "Everything But the Bagel" (bitter-ish) seasoning mixture, not salt alone. I wouldn't have ordered it otherwise. Unfortunately, dipping it into the beer cheese couldn't save the flavor (asked for 2 ramekins of cheese because I'm not fond of mustard). Pretzels of this type should be thick throughout and soft on the inside ... and this wasn't. The waitress was very nice and helpful. When I walked inside to pay my bill, I couldn't help but notice the masks on the two staff members masks were down around their necks. Lobster roll had a nice presentation with a solid amount of lobster including the necessary large chunk of meat. The bread wasn't my fav but I'm also not a big fan of bread products. The sweeties were abundant and delicious with what I find to be essential brown sugar style salt for sweet potato fries. The only thing missing was honey mustard to dip them into. I shared the suggestion with someone I believe may be an owner. So perhaps that can work out. It's like eating French fries in Idaho - you need fry sauce! I would like to return. I'll definitely have salad with my lobster roll and see about trying their clam chowder. Note that with the times, the price has been raised once or twice this year. So it goes. Carolyn and I finally made it to "That Dam Place" today for "lunner (late lunch, early dinner) This restaurant is co-owned by former Folsom City Councilperson and former Mayor, Kerri Howell. Kerri was our server. The food was excellent! We started with the Bavarian pretzel w/beer cheese and sweet/hot mustard for dipping. They add Everything bagel seasoning on the pretzel instead of just salt. Great! Followed up with two of the specials on the Specials board. Ham and Swiss quiche for Carolyn and the Beast Burgha w/a cup of clam chawda for me. (Massachusetts influences from Kerri). The Beast burger was a blend of Waygu beef, bison, boar, and elk. Delicious. The quiche came with homemade chips seasoned with a slightly spicey Cajun flavor. Cheese chips in the salad were a treat, too. Only constructive criticism - they need a more permanent sign. The faded banner makes it hard to see. read more

Two weeks ago my boyfriend and I decided we needed to make a dinner reservation to That Dam Place, after all it was our one year anniversary. Ok all jokes aside, our server was fantastic, she wrote our names on a cute little chalk board for our reservation with a heart before his name to celebrate and even included a cheesecake my boyfriend devoured! I'll review what I ordered below! The Last Meal with homemade potato salad~ The lobster roll is definitely worth the hype, filled with fresh succulent Maine lobster on a grilled split-top bun! The potato salad was decent and made with fresh potatoes. Wanton Behaviour~ These were probably the best wontons I've ever brought my lips to, a nice crunch and filled with nice succulent lobster! Seriously you don't even need the sauce, it's that good! The Ice Tea I ordered was very refreshing! Came here for an anniversary dinner with my girlfriend on July 17, 2021. That Dam Place is located on Riley Street in Folsom, CA. This restaurant is sort of a hidden but it had a cozy atmosphere and decor. When we arrived, we were greeted promptly and seated quickly. We ordered Wanton Behavior, The Last Meal, and Revere Beach Steak Tips. Wanton Behavior: ***** (lobster filled wontons, so good!!) The Last Meal: ***** (girlfriend ordered this and it looked amazing when it came out) Revere Beach Steak Tips: ***** (I ordered this and the steak tips was cooked medium rare. It was really good.) Wanted to try something new for lunch and so we landed on this place and drove up from out of town. For appetizers we got the Dawg Bites, which are crispy pastry wrapped hot dog bites with sweet-spicy mustard and wasabi Mayo. The breading had a good flavor to it and sausage was flavorful, it's something I'd get again. My entree was the Dam dawg! Which consists of an all beef hot dog with beef chili, beer cheese and jalapeños. I didn't really care for my entree. The beer cheese was strong and didn't pair well with the canned jalapeños and chili flavors. The bread has grill marks, which I didn't like the taste of and so the only thing I ate out of the whole entree was the hot dog and fries. I would not get this entree again. My partner got the last meal which was a cold classic lobstah roll with Maine lobster, lemon, tarragon and Mayo on a grilled split top bun. He enjoyed his lobstah roll but was a little surprised it was cold and not warm. The one thing he disliked was the cheese croutons on his salad. Customer service was very friendly and checked on us through out our meal. Pretty clean environment as well, saw them sanitize the tables after customers. We damned near missed That Dam Place but damn glad we went back for it again because damn, it was great! SOUP OF THE MOMENT: New England Clam Chowder 4/5* The chowder came with saltine crackers instead of oyster crackers. It had a semi-brothy, brownish hue, which means packed with flavor. There were nice chunks of potatoes, clams, and some orange chunks that I assume were carrots? I would've preferred the chowder a bit thicker and served piping hot enough to burn tongues, but flavor was on point. THE LAST MEAL (Lobster Roll) 5/5* Damn! The lobster was piled up and was so sweet and refreshing. The roll had a great slight crisp, buttery, and actually held together even with that hefty lobster load. This tied with Cousin's, which was previously my favorite lobster roll spot. FELONY FRIES 5/5* Our server explained why these were called Felony Fries, relating to the time when we were on strike against the French, during the Freedom Fries era. They thought it'd be cheeky to call them Felony instead. But in my opinion, the name definitely suits these fries. Sure, these were plain ol' salted fries from the look, but the soft pillow-y fluffy potato inside a perfectly crunchy crisp outside, it's gotta be a felony for fries to taste this good!! SHAW-SHANKS 5/5* Pork lollipops! The meat to sauce ratio was perfect. Sauce was savory sweet and didn't smother the pork's meaty flavor. Ambiance The patio is extremely quaint and cute. It was so relaxing surrounded by plants, flowers, and the soft *ting ting* sounds of the windchime in the corner. They are dog friendly..no, that's an understatement. They love dogs! My dog got so much attention from all the employees, I was starting to get jealous. Any place that loves dogs this much gets an A+ in my book. Who knew that a place tucked away in a corner of an empty street mall plaza down the street from Folsom Dam could have such delicious food with hilariously clever jail-themed names?! Found this place on our way home from Lake Tahoe. I'm sure glad we decided to eat here. The lobster roll is the best I've had... better than cousins main lobster. The bread was toasted perfectly and the lobster and its fillings were fresh and delicious. I'd drive to Folsom just for the lobster roll. My wife had the pastrami sandwich... omg the best pastrami I've ever had. Nice and juicy. Better than the one I've had at Carnegie deli. Fries and onion rings were good. They were generous with the ranch also. The place it's self was nice. Great feel to it. Lots of stuff to look at. Nice big tv which had food network which I don't mind watching.... Rachel ray was on the tv... what the heck happened to her? It's been a while since I've seen her shows. The hostess and the chef were very nice. The chef has some nice music playing in the back ground and he checked up on us. The hostess was very pleasant. She seems to be the type to know all her customers. It's hard to explain this but the place made us feel at home. Great little spot with a nice patio, tucked away behind the old Red Robin on Riley Street in Folsom. When we saw the name we had to check it out! We almost missed it because our navigation tried to take us to their old location, but my husband figured it out and we made it. The menu is creative and fun with Burgahs and En-Trays with choices like the Electric Chair and Felony Fries. I thought for sure my husband would have the Lobster Roll, but for some reason he went with the Crispy Cowards (chicken tenders, tossed in buffalo sauce). They were huge and the Felony Fries were great as well. I had the lobster roll and I thought it was great. Plenty of lobster including claw meat, with a good taste. Reminded me of New England. I thought my bun was a bit too charred, but I still enjoyed it. I got the onion rings and they were some of the best I'd had in a while. I would say the prices seem a bit high - the lobster roll I thought was the most reasonably priced, considering some places charge $25-30 bucks. But $15.50 for the chicken tenders and $11.50 for hot dogs felt like a lot. The patio seating was really pleasant, with umbrellas and plants. Definitely a great place to hang out. read more

Sad to say this restaurant has gone downhill. It used to be a fun place with good food and friendly service. Over the last year the quality of the food and the demeanor of the staff has degraded tremendously. It's the same old tired menu, half of which is unavailable until 3pm. The food itself has gone down in both ingredient quality and preparation. Everything is bland and chewy with a weird metallic taste. We ordered the Shaw-shanks which are supposed to be pork shanks with a "Korean spicy sauce". One would expect them to fall off the bone with a spicy/sweet flavor profile. They can barely be cut with a knife and the sauce is desperately hopeless in adding flavor to baked pork. The slaw served with it was nasty. The burger was another let down. The patty is (I think) pre-manufactured and frozen. It's devoid of flavor and has a weird chewy consistency. The fries are again frozen and fried, but missing any seasoning or flavor. The staff acts and seems depressed and reluctant to even be there. They have a sign at the front to remind people to make reservations for Valentine's Day (it's President's Day weekend). They randomly closed their restaurant for 4 hours as we were leaving. I used to like this place but they are (sadly) off the list. read more

Super fun place, especially if you have dogs and consider them family. They quickly bring out ice-cold water in dog bowls for them and have meals as well for the pups. The food was amazing and fresh. They grow some of their herbs as well. It's obvious these people are passionate about creating and serving wonderful plates. We live over 30 min away and will be coming back regularly. read more

Love this unique lil GEM in Folsom. It's Prison themed, so the menu items all have unique names like the Electric Chair (the burger I ordered), the Last Meal, etc. it has indoor and outdoor seating. The owners are nice and funny. They have something here that's not in the menu, and yet it sells out often! They call it crack, and I must say, after you try it, you will see why. We have come back several times and half the time they are sold out of the crack. Lol The food is very good, everything we have tried here is very tasty! From the Shackles of Baldock and Clam Chowdah to the Lobstah Roll and Fishin' Chips, the seafood items were cooked to perfection and simply delicious. This place showed up when I was searching for Lobster rolls on my way to visit a friend in Rocklin, so extra kudos to the Yelpers who brought me here. It is definitely a hidden gem, as it is located in a random strip mall. But don't be fooled by the area, as this place definitely hits the spot! We ordered six lobster rolls, 4 with the side of fries, and 2 with a side of salad. It was definitely a hit! My friends who live in the area never knew about this spot. While we were waiting, the waitress was kind enough to let us sit at the bar and enjoy a glass of water while we waited. Our order was ready unless then 10 minutes. Great spot. Ordered the (Not your) Patsy-Strami. Very good pastrami sandwich with toasted rye bread. Great homemade pickles. I added the onion rings which were very good. Real cooking and no microwave. Kerri was our server, she was just a blast and made our dining experience so memorable! The inside is decorated in such a fun and unique way, it feels like dining at your best friend's house. The menu has options for everyone, with a unique twist on the names. Very on brand for the Folsom area! We tried a great selection of their sandwiches and we couldn't decide which sandwich we liked best.. they were all fabulous. The felony fries are simply divine; you're doing your tastebuds a disservice by not ordering them! The French Onion Soup was so flavorful. Also, calling every pickle lover! The place is quaint and being served by the Mayor of Folsom is a nice bonus. There's a lot of amusing quirks to enjoy besides the name of the dam restaurant. There are lots of fun Folsom references for you to find on the walls and in the menu. I had to try the lobster roll which is served Maine style (cold with dressing, celery, etc.) and while quite tasty I think I personally prefer the warm Connecticut style with just chunks of lobster with butter and lemon. The clam chowder is particularly delightful since it is served homestyle with a thinner broth and chocked full of clams and potatos (but not too much potato which is ideal). The lobster roll is small and costs a pretty penny so for a cheapskate like me I'm not sure I can say it's worth it. But if you love lobster and don't need to feel full afterwards I think you will be happy with it. For me it was more of a very expensive lunchtime snack. I'm thinking the burgers and sandwiches would give me a satisfactory bang for the buck so I'd like to come back and try those. read more

We came in on a Saturday around 5pm... The parking lot was pretty empty which caused my group for a little concern, but I assured them the reviews online were good. We walked in and it was a bit empty. We were told to sit anywhere we liked. A lady brought us our menus and told us about the specials. While we were deciding what to eat we could see the cook at the kitchen window, oh my gosh we were so excited! I cannot remember ever going out and seeing the food actually being cooked. I mean, this place does not start cooking your food until you order it... Everyone was so fresh and delicious. AMAZING!!! FYI, and review on here less than 5 stars is just given by nincompoops. All with fries came out to little shy of 80 bucks. I went in around 4ish...the place had 1 family of 3 eating. It was nothing like I expected. In the tail end of my order the phone ramd and she answered it and, instead of saying hold on I'm with a customer, she began her dialogue. Leaving my order on the screen, not sent. Honestly, I HATE stuff like that. She could of easily put that person on a brief hold send my order to the kitchen and then do her dam thing. With 3 little kids in the car (my wife watching them of course), timing is everthing. By checking in (after I ordered) I realized I would of had 10% off. Oops. Ok, so in my mind this place was doomed from the start. A younger gal came out to deliver our food. Her simple smile and overall persona radiated. It is amazing what a simple smile can do! Found this place on Yelp after trying to find a clam chowder place we can go to after visiting the Folsom Zoo. The patio was so spacious and it was a beautiful day. They apologized for a possible longer wait due to being understaffed but we got our food in a timely manner and the owners were so polite always asking if everything was ok. They are just so friendly here! They even gave a complimentary otter pop to my daughter after we were all done. :) Food was amazing!! Down to their bread and fries. The pastrami sandwich was so juicy and lobster roll so flavorful. My picky eater daughter loves their felony fries.. love the name btw. Clam chowder not as thick as we usually have but it was still delicious and we finished the bowl.. was packed with clams and potatoes too.
