Definitely an awesome local find. Yelp usually doesn't lead me wrong, which is how my husband and I ended up here a few weeks ago on a lunch date with our kids. This is the place to go for juicy burgers and HOT, crispy fries, seriously the best in the area (comparing them directly to Brickhouse and Relish in EDH). I loved my order, the electric chair, and will gladly go back for it. It seems like a very community-oriented and neighborhood favorite, and our service was excellent. Will have to go back for dinner sometime. read more

This place is amazing. We had the clam chowder and lobster roll. We started with onion rings. The rings were delicious. I don't know what they put in the batter but I need it. The clam chowder had so many clam chunks, I almost got full off of that alone. But the lobster roll was hands down my favorite part of the meal. If you're near by, stop by here immediately. Also, the service was great. If they recommend something, order it. read more

The service was great! The ambiance was diner like. I went there specifically for the lobster roll since I've been craving a good lobster roll. Heads up, even though it tasted good I was disappointed that 80% of the roll was imitation crab. For $24 dollars I could have went to the Hideaway for a whole lobster special on Thursday night for only $27. Update: Management might want to check with their kitchen. I tasted imitation crab and pulled the pieces out to look. A lot of the meat mixed in looked like imitation crab with the signature rolled up machine processed look. I eat enough of both to know what each looks like and taste. I love both so it was still good. And would not care if that is the description on the menu. So don't pull a fast one over your customers and then claim it's not true. read more

I suppose I could rate this lower considering they were out of lobster, the main item attracted me in which is in almost every picture of their menu online and even a part of their logo. But the dish I did end up with was delicious and the service was nice, so they redeemed themselves after my initial disappointment. I do love a good gumbo, so I went with their version of gumbo (Creole vegetables, garlic & chiles w/ chicken & andouille sausage, served w/ rice & green onions). It was packed with flavor and the perfect balance of heat. There were generous portions of sausage and chicken as well. My wife's bacon and fries green tomato sandwich was also delicious. Throw in really great service on the outdoor patio and we had an experience worth repeating! Let's just hope next time I'm reviewing the lobster roll. read more

Okay if anything you need to come here just for the menu alone! Don't let the strip mall ambiance deter you from chowing down on some tasty food. I have had The Last Meal a couple of times ($20.50) which is described as a "classic lobstah roll w/ Maine lobster, lemon, tarragon and mayo on a grilled, split-top bun." Yes $20 for a roll is pricey. Yes it is tasty. But if it's going to be your last meal, you may as well splurge. Having worked for Corrections and been in both Folsom and California State Prison, Sacramento (as an employee mind you), the humor in the food selection cracks me up. I have had their Felony Fries, but the next item on the agenda would have to be The Electric Chair Burger ($14.50), grilled 6 oz burger with mayo, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, jalapenos, bleu cheese & buffalo sauce. Definitely one of the more colorful spots to eat in Folsom. If you're around to check out the Johnny Cash Trail and then the Folsom Prison Museum to check out their wall of shanks, you should end the day here for some real Shaw-Shanks ($14.50) 5 Crispy pork "wings" dressed in Korean Fire sauce served with cucumber-cabbage slaw, LOL. read more

As soon as I saw a picture of their Lobster Roll (The Last Meal) I knew I had to try this place! So glad I did, because everything we ate was DAM delicious! TL;DR: Overall our entire experience was wonderful! Highly recommend the Last Meal and the Clam Chowder. That portion of lobster in the Last Meal was hefty. It was not super saucy or mayo-y, but I really liked that it highlights the lobster. The clam chowder was actually the perfect complement to the Last Meal, because it gave more flavor to the dish. The Last Meal also comes with the option of salad or fries and my favorite was the sweet potato fries! They were perfectly lightly crisp on the outside and more substantial than I'm used to. We also enjoyed their gumbo a lot. The portions of everything were generous. Service was so attentive and I can't wait to return! LOCATION/PARKING: Located in a shopping center (to the very left end of Kohl's), it was hard to spot because their sign was small and hidden. The parking lot was super empty when we went on a Saturday evening so parking is pretty easy. ATMOSPHERE: The interior decor was pretty simple and classic, with some original artwork on the walls. We sat outside in their patio area, and I enjoyed the greenery, like their tomato plants and herbs. They have a good amount of seating both indoor and outdoor as well. SERVICE: Our server was extremely friendly. He made some helpful recommendations for our meal. We also loved how attentive he was. Our waters remained full throughout the entire meal. The service here was top notch! FOOD: The Last Meal (Maine style Lobster Roll) highlights the lobster really well. The lobster portions were amazing! The fries were also perfectly cooked and delicious. We tried both the regular (Felony) and sweet potato (Sweeties) fries and the sweet potato was by far our favorite! The Sweeties substitution was an extra $2, but I thought it was worth it. Definitely try that combo if you like sweet potato fries. The Clam Chowder (the Chowdah of the Moment) was also the perfect complement to the bite of lobster roll. The Angola Gumbo Ya-Ya was so hearty and had tons of meat and flavor! The heat builds, but it's balanced by the amazing savory flavors and the rice provides a nice texture and starch to add to that heartiness. This was a great dish! The portion is pretty filling too. It was basically the size of an entree. We were also surprised with a slice of tiramisu cake at the end of our meal and it was a lovely creamy cake with those classic tiramisu flavors. A nice little sweet treat to end an already amazing meal! I can't wait to go back to try the Jambalaya, but I will say it's going to be difficult to avoid ordering the same things again because everything was that good. PRICE: Considering how generous the portions were with all of our dishes, the price was definitely fair. The $20.50 price of the Last Meal was justified considering the amount of lobster we got. It even came with fries and others places I've visited just charge that amount for the sandwich alone, with less lobster to boot. The Gumbo ($9.25) and the Clam Chowder ($6.25) were entree-sized, which was great for the price. UPDATE: We ordered two Gumbos to-go and they were significantly smaller in size than the dine in option. I would say it came out to like 2/3 of the size so it wasn't as worth it at that price. I would highly recommend just doing dine in for their soups. read more

My husband found That Dam Place on Yelp and saw the high reviews so we wanted to try it out. So glad we did! My husband and I started with Shackles of Baldock, beer battered onion rings tossed in buffalo sauce with bleu cheese crumbles. The rings were crispy and nice and spicy, and the bleu cheese added a nice creamy taste to it. I then ordered celery soup and my hubby ordered clam chowder. The chowder had a lot of clams and there was no grit. One of the best chowders we've had in a very long time. The celery soup reminded me of my grandma's and I loved it! We finished our meal sharing The Last Meal with sweet potato fries. It's one of their signature sandwiches. It's a stuffed lobster roll with huge chunks of Maine lobster. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. NOT ON THE MENU ask for the Sangria. It's made in house and is not too sweet and full of citrus flavor. My husband doesn't like sweet drink and he liked it. Yes, we will definitely be coming back when we're in town. Side note: Chef Gary graced us with a tub of gumbo to go for us to enjoy later. When I ordered the New England style clam chowder, owner Kerri assured me it would have more clams than any chowder I've ever had before. Well, it did and it was delicious! The broth like milky base is so much more enjoyable than heavy cream based versions. I'm really looking forward my next visit. By the way the lobster rolls are also excellent and stuffed to the brim in a traditional N. E. split-top grilled roll. read more

We stopped here after coming home from Kaiser in Roseville. Owner is very friendly, as is the waitress. They came over to our table and talked with us. The prices are really good. We ordered fish and chips. Beer Battered Cod with the batter made in house by one of the owners. They were really excellent. I had sweet potato fries and my husband had onion rings. They were both so good too. This is a great place to stop and eat when you are shopping at Kohls or Walmart. So close! Lots of tables and outside eating too! read more

I have been waiting to stop in here since I saw they offered lobber rolls and finally made it in. The place was pretty empty, how we like it; its green interior covers the dining area with tables, booths, and a small bar seating. I knew I was getting lobster but did not realize I was going to order half the other items as well; they have a small herb garden outside they use fresh herbs in a lot of dishes which is a great touch. A twist of Fate amazing Bavarian-style pretzel survived with beer cheese and a sweet-spicy mustard sauce. Shaw-Shanks - this was by far the best starter I have had in a long time. The sauce was key; 5 crispy pork wings dress in Korean fire sauce served with cucumber-cabbage slaw. I could have had that sauce on everything I ate, and I wanted to buy a bottle of it. The Last Meal - classic lobster roll with Maine lobster, lemon, tarragon & mayo on a grilled, split-top bun. Fantastic. I could have had more than one, but the flavor and the lobster were excellent. Death Sentence - Huge burger 2 grilled 6oz burgers with mayo, lettuce, tomato, bacon, fried onion rings & beer cheese on a brioche bun. Messy and worth it, this was a huge burger and so flavorful. WORST. EXPERIENCE. EVER. I read all the "hype", and was excited to try it. Their menu doesn't list the descriptions of everything, so I called and spoke to...the very cranky woman who answered their phone. (This is when I should have "abandoned ship"!). "Are the onion rings battered or breaded?" She answered this by ARGUING with me for a few minutes. I had to explain to her the difference between BREADED and BATTERED. (SIGH). She FINALLY said "LET ME ASK THE CHEF". Then she leaned over to someone and I could hear him CLEARLY respond to her "beer battered". Seriously, who IS THIS rude woman? INSTEAD of asking the chef right away, she had to give me a long ARGUMENT, as she thought "BREADED" and "BATTERED" were THE SAME THING. And she NEVER apologized for not knowing they were different, or for giving me SUCH a hard time. She just remained obnoxious. After all my questions were answered, I called back and placed an order with...the same cranky woman. She then kept correcting me - for example when I said "the Pastrami sandwich" OH NO YOU MEAN THE 'NOT YOUR PAWSTRAMI' ". Okay. She did this idiotic CORRECTION for EACH. ITEM. I. ORDERED. Even the FRIES. I couldn't order a side of FRIES. She CORRECTED ME "YOU MEAN THE 'FELONY FRIES' ". She then went off on a tangent about WWII and how they were called "FREEDOM FRIES".....and we were hungry and truly just wanted to order DINNER. PLEASE!? Okay, Lady, whatever! Just the side of FRIES, PLEASE! Hubby picked up the meal. He got home, and shock ensued. The LOBSTAH ROLL (God forbid! I HOPE I am using the RIGHT NAME!) was A LOT OF BREAD, and little filling. I tossed the giant bun. I include a picture of the remainder of the inside. Does ANYONE see a claw in this picture? Nope. Those must have been reserved for "other" guests who ate there on a promo for the restaurant. And the KILLER. When I asked for the side options, she listed several things. I chose the SPINACH salad. Well, they instead put in a WEED salad, TOSSED in the dressing (For YEARS now, EVERY restaurant ALWAYS puts the dressing on the side!!!) but the KILLER was they WRAPPED the salad IN FOIL and put it INSIDE with a hot entree, so it arrived as....a HOT salad. I am sorry, but weed salad was never intended to be served as HOT. I called her, and she immediately started arguing with me. I mean she was YELLING at me. She clearly seemed to want a "throw down" of some sort. I said "It's okay, we'll survive with the hot weed salad", and I hung up. (We tossed it - it was BEYOND gross). "HELLO! DON'T PUT A COLD SALAD IN WITH A HOT 'ENTREE' "! The onion rings WERE INDEED battered! They were still dripping with some oil, but they were BATTERED, YAY. I have them laid out in a paper towel to drain. We can bake those tomorrow to crisp them properly! We have eaten at Katz's Deli in NYC, so hubby found their "PATSY-STRAMI" (whatever it is REALLY called, as I was "corrected" by this RUDE woman) to be....substandard. "Been there, done that". We definitely DO NOT recommend. And as to that RUDE WOMAN who answered their phone tonight? She COULD have made a difference. Instead, she wanted to CONSTANTLY ARGUE with me, on ALL THREE of my calls. I INQUIRED. I ORDERED. I then called BACK about HER mistake. All I got on EACH call were ARGUMENTS and condescension from this cranky rude lady. AVOID! read more

This place is great all around!! From their fries to the lamb burger - it was all so, so good. Service excellent! We had our two 5 year olds with us - they brought us two bowls of gold fish for them! They cater to kids AND dogs (even BIG dogs!) and offered a secret surprise at the end (with parental permission, otter pops!!). I'll definitely be back after 3p next time for their fish and chips! read more

So happy to find a place with a lobster roll that rivals that I've enjoyed in Seattle, WA! This new place also has a delicious home made clam chowder. They also serve gourmet burgers, house made fries and onion rings. To try a variety, we ordered their lobster roll and the "electric burger" (Bleu cheese, grilled onions and jalapeños) with fries and onion rings along with a bowl of their clam chowder. All were delicious! Friendly service and they have outdoor seating and dog friendly. Give this new place a try! It's worth it! read more

Came in here on Sunday for lunch with a friend. She had the clam chowder, which was good. I had the tossed salad with Italian tuna, which was delicious, and a bowl of gumbo, which was very good. Service was good. We would gladly return to try other things like the jambalaya. read more

Came on a dead hour to the restaurant. Visiting for the local Renaissance festival. Very calm atmosphere with music playing lightly in the background. The shackles of Baldok: Tasty and Original! Had a good kick while being evenly coated. The Death Sentence burger: I should have listened to rhe charming waitress and gotten a smaller burger! That beer cheese and Brioche bun was a great combination. Crabby Patty: Unique and cute name was delicious crab meat put together. The next time we are in the Sac area this is a for sure stop for us! read more

Skip it. We were in the area and saw the high reviews, so we headed over. But the service was meh and the food was no better. I liked the prison- themed idea but since it didn't extend to the decor, it just fell flat. Service-wise: I had to ask for utensils after our appetizer showed up. I asked for our sandwiches to be cut in half. Waitress said "uhhh I'll bring you a knife." A sharp knife never came so I sawed our apart with a butter knife. Never got any ketchup for my fries. Never was asked if I wanted another beer. Food-wise: My side salad was the most exciting part of my meal. Nothing special about the burger or grilled chicken sandwich. Pretty disappointing since we had higher hopes. read more

Best part of this restaurant is excellent customer service. The owner who took my order via phone was very friendly. They are located in a complex near Kohl's. We ordered the pastrami sandwich and the tuna sandwich. The side salad which came with the sandwich was like a meal in itself. Recommend! read more

First change the cooking oil. The first thing I noticed was the smell of old oil. I should have left right away. Second was how dirty it was. They had stuff all around the place. Counter full of paperwork and dirty little figurines. Was not the best pastrami I have ever had took a bite and there was hair on it. I would never advise anyone to eat here. read more

I'm not sure how busy this place gets, but I know when I stopped by around 2 pm it seemed pretty slow. I had the lobster roll along with some fries. The fries were spot on and flaky and crispy. The lobster roll was delicious. The owners seemed pretty cool. I can tell they put their heart and soul into this place. Inside is very welcoming and comfortable. I work in the same Business Park so I already knew their food was great from eating there for lunch, but they truly impressed me as an event venue. The planning process was easy, and the staff member who helped me was incredibly accommodating and made sure everything was tailored exactly how I wanted it. They had options for not only food dishes, but also tablecloths, plates, flatware, drinks, etc. When I arrived, everything was already set up and they even offered help as I added my own decorations. During the event, they kept everything running smoothly, clearing plates, serving the food on schedule, and taking care of guests. When it was over, I simply packed up my stuff and left. They handled cleanup and had even packaged up all the leftovers for me. The food was fantastic, and the pricing was very reasonable. They made the entire event feel effortless, which allowed me to actually enjoy the day. Highly recommend for any special event!

Happened onto this restaurant today while running errands in Gold River. Located in an office…read morebuilding adjacent to Highway 50, I never expected to find a restaurant in this area! What a surprise! I arrived around 10:30 and was the only client there. The office building itself seemed quite empty of tenants too. Not sure of what was going on in the building. The security guard was very nice and escorted me to the restaurant. I was still in time for breakfast. They had a special which I ordered. I thought it took a bit longer than it should have - an omelet and some sausage and a prebaked muffin with coffee that I served myself - but it was all good. They seemed to be working on a lot of catering orders for lunch. A mother and son came in, ordered one meal and shared it. The space is large, open, and bright. It just seemed temporary to me - not like a restaurant wanting to diners but a place to prepare their catering orders and IF a random person suddenly appeared, they could be fed. This is not an area that I frequent and so the likelihood of returning is small - not because the food wasn't tasty or the restaurant itself was unacceptable. It just is out of the way for me and though was good, I was not wowed enough to find my way back for a meal. However, if you are in the area, please check them out. A mom and pop operation that deserves support.

This was my third time giving this establishment a chance, and unfortunately, it will be my last…read more The first time, I was seated and then completely ignored. It wasn't busy, and there were available waitstaff who never acknowledged me. After sitting there for 15 minutes without anyone coming over, I finally walked out. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and came back a second time, thinking perhaps they had simply been understaffed. The service was very slow, although the food was good. This morning, after visiting the farmers market, we stopped by again. This is a café inside a bookstore within a shopping center, so I was surprised by how restrictive the experience was. We had brought The Melt for my 11-year-old daughter because she is a very picky eater. We were holding the bag when we were seated, and I did not see any signs indicating that outside food was prohibited. If that was the policy, I would have expected someone to tell us before seating us. Instead, we waited another 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order. After taking our order and collecting the menus, the waitress addressed my daughter directly--not the parents--and told her that she couldn't eat her food inside and would need to go eat it outside on the far patio. I asked if we could simply be served outside, at which point she said she would "make an exception" and let us stay. I have no problem following a restaurant's rules, but the way this was handled was extremely disappointing. If outside food is not allowed, customers should be informed when they arrive or before they are seated--not after they have already waited 15 minutes. More importantly, I found it inappropriate that the waitress addressed this issue directly with my 11-year-old and told her she would need to eat outside, rather than speaking to the parents. The implication that my child should go eat her meal by herself away from us was particularly upsetting. At this point, it wasn't really about the food or even the outside-food policy. It was the repeated pattern of poor service, lack of communication, and the way this situation was handled. We ultimately decided to leave, despite the offer to make an exception. After three attempts, I can't justify giving this establishment my business again. The food may be good, but good food isn't enough when the service and customer experience are consistently this disappointing.

There are three or more large ones hung up high, with TONS of busy colors, so it was hard to quickly sort through. The fellow behind the counter asked me what I wanted, and I didn't want to hold up the line, so I quickly asked him if they still made sandwiches on croissants. They did - phew! I ordered a sandwich to go, as I was in the midst of running errands and just needed a quick bite. Welp, that first bite was quite a surprise. There was a toothpick inside, laying FLAT IN the sandwich. It was embedded in the tuna. I just missed biting into that toothpick. That was NOT okay. I didn't finish the sandwich as I worried as to what else might be in there. I tossed it in a trash can outside of my next errand. Tonight I came to Yelp to update my review, and I was shocked to read the following: On April 8, 2026 (just a couple of WEEKS ago) Yelp reported that this La Bou had FIVE health code violations. All of this is quite enough for me. I won't be back, and I truly hope they improve their health standards, in addition to not placing toothpicks inside sandwiches. I won't be back.

The place is bright and welcoming with TVs and a lot of seating. The person taking the orders was so friendly and helpful. There were people sitting at tables as well as ordering to go and picking up deliveries. I ordered a create your own sandwich (turkey, salami, spinach, cucumbers and onions). There is also a condiment bar where you can add your own deli peppers, jalapeños and pickles. Oh my gosh...the sandwhich was huge! Definitely worth $12.95. My order was ready in about 5 minutes. The pocket bread is just toooooo delicious. So fresh and soft. Its definitely made to hold all of the fresh sandwich fixings. The next time I stop in for a sandwich, I plan to ask if I can also buy some of the pocket bread to take home. Yes....its that good! I definitely recommend Pocket Deli if you want/need a fresh and delicious sandwich. Thank you Pocket Deli!
