The place is quaint and being served by the Mayor of Folsom is a nice bonus. There's a lot of amusing quirks to enjoy besides the name of the dam restaurant. There are lots of fun Folsom references for you to find on the walls and in the menu. I had to try the lobster roll which is served Maine style (cold with dressing, celery, etc.) and while quite tasty I think I personally prefer the warm Connecticut style with just chunks of lobster with butter and lemon. The clam chowder is particularly delightful since it is served homestyle with a thinner broth and chocked full of clams and potatos (but not too much potato which is ideal). The lobster roll is small and costs a pretty penny so for a cheapskate like me I'm not sure I can say it's worth it. But if you love lobster and don't need to feel full afterwards I think you will be happy with it. For me it was more of a very expensive lunchtime snack. I'm thinking the burgers and sandwiches would give me a satisfactory bang for the buck so I'd like to come back and try those. read more

Our favorite place in Folsom. Dog friendly ( our dog loves it here and is friends with everyone) and amazing staff. Food is excellent. You can tell the chef and the waitstaff really care. The burgers, soup, and salads are phenomenal. My husband is obsessed with their "electric chair" burger. 10/10 This place is not pretentious and the people are down to earth. Now that is a Dam good Lobster roll! 2 Lobster rolls, big Spinach salad with mandarins, walnuts and blueberries minus bleu cheese crumbles and an order of the chicken tenders. All with fries came out to little shy of 80 bucks. I went in around 4ish...the place had 1 family of 3 eating. It was nothing like I expected. In the tail end of my order the phone ramd and she answered it and, instead of saying hold on I'm with a customer, she began her dialogue. Leaving my order on the screen, not sent. Honestly, I HATE stuff like that. She could of easily put that person on a brief hold send my order to the kitchen and then do her dam thing. With 3 little kids in the car (my wife watching them of course), timing is everthing. By checking in (after I ordered) I realized I would of had 10% off. Oops. My wife and I live in Vacaville and usually go to Half Moon Bay for our lobster rolls. We decided to take a chance on this new place in Folsom. Let me tell you what, this food was amazing!. Place isn't much to look at but don't let that keep you from going in. Lobster roll was fresh and chock full of lobster. The bread was a proper New England style brioche' The patty melt was perfect. And the chowder OMG. Most clams I've ever had in a chowder and we grew up on the Oregon coast. Chef came out and visited and discussed his history and flavor combinations. Found this place on Yelp after trying to find a clam chowder place we can go to after visiting the Folsom Zoo. The patio was so spacious and it was a beautiful day. They apologized for a possible longer wait due to being understaffed but we got our food in a timely manner and the owners were so polite always asking if everything was ok. They are just so friendly here! They even gave a complimentary otter pop to my daughter after we were all done. :) Food was amazing!! Down to their bread and fries. The pastrami sandwich was so juicy and lobster roll so flavorful. My picky eater daughter loves their felony fries.. love the name btw. Definitely an awesome local find. Yelp usually doesn't lead me wrong, which is how my husband and I ended up here a few weeks ago on a lunch date with our kids. This is the place to go for juicy burgers and HOT, crispy fries, seriously the best in the area (comparing them directly to Brickhouse and Relish in EDH). I loved my order, the electric chair, and will gladly go back for it. It seems like a very community-oriented and neighborhood favorite, and our service was excellent. Oh my goodness! That Dam Place is 100% delicious. I have been a patron at least a dozen times and each time the staff is courteous and the food is delicious. The last few times I have had the specials and they are phenomenally good. At my last visit I had the mussels which are amazing. No fishy smell or taste with this entree. Today was Easter and they were open for me to enjoy some delicious Lobster Ravioli's and they did not disappoint. I ate the whole plate and didn't regret a single bite. That Dam Place is a great local own restaurant for folks who love food and families who want to enjoy gourmet food with family friendly setting indoors or outdoors. If you've never been here before, it's about to be your new favorite spot! That Dam Place is the product of a unique vision that has been brought to life by two amazing partners! Of the name didn't give it away, the restaurantenu is hilarious and based off of prison humor with Folsom Prison nearby. For example, the kids menu is named "Juvenile Delinquents", the sangria is called "Pruno", and the menu items all followed the theme. Although I had never been here before, after reviewing the menu I knew I found the right place to casually celebrate my birthday - and I'm so glad I did. They made it special by putting my name on a table reservation card and even stuck a balloon on the table :) The food was amazing! They offer a large variety that appeals to everyone ranging from chili dogs, burgers and sandwiches, to jumbalaya, lobster rolls and mussels, with salad options and specials of the day! We ordered the crab wontons and tomato bisque to start. Then, I knew I had to try the jumbalaya and my boyfriend got the chili cheese dog. Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was great! The ambiance was diner like. I went there specifically for the lobster roll since I've been craving a good lobster roll. Heads up, even though it tasted good I was disappointed that 80% of the roll was imitation crab. For $24 dollars I could have went to the Hideaway for a whole lobster special on Thursday night for only $27. Update: Management might want to check with their kitchen. I tasted imitation crab and pulled the pieces out to look. A lot of the meat mixed in looked like imitation crab with the signature rolled up machine processed look. I eat enough of both to know what each looks like and taste. I love both so it was still good. And would not care if that is the description on the menu. The lobster roll tasted burnt. It was not crispy at all. It was a lot of bread for the sandwich. The lobster had no flavor. It was 21.50and the reviews make it seemed so wonderful...and I have wanted to try a lobster roll for a very long time...I was like...never again. Kohls is next door. We stopped here after coming home from Kaiser in Roseville. Owner is very friendly, as is the waitress. They came over to our table and talked with us. The prices are really good. We ordered fish and chips. Beer Battered Cod with the batter made in house by one of the owners. They were really excellent. I had sweet potato fries and my husband had onion rings. They were both so good too. This is a great place to stop and eat when you are shopping at Kohls or Walmart. So close! Lots of tables and outside eating too! read more

I suppose I could rate this lower considering they were out of lobster, the main item attracted me in which is in almost every picture of their menu online and even a part of their logo. But the dish I did end up with was delicious and the service was nice, so they redeemed themselves after my initial disappointment. I do love a good gumbo, so I went with their version of gumbo (Creole vegetables, garlic & chiles w/ chicken & andouille sausage, served w/ rice & green onions). It was packed with flavor and the perfect balance of heat. There were generous portions of sausage and chicken as well. My wife's bacon and fries green tomato sandwich was also delicious. Okay if anything you need to come here just for the menu alone! Don't let the strip mall ambiance deter you from chowing down on some tasty food. I have had The Last Meal a couple of times ($20.50) which is described as a "classic lobstah roll w/ Maine lobster, lemon, tarragon and mayo on a grilled, split-top bun." Yes $20 for a roll is pricey. Yes it is tasty. But if it's going to be your last meal, you may as well splurge. Having worked for Corrections and been in both Folsom and California State Prison, Sacramento (as an employee mind you), the humor in the food selection cracks me up. I have had their Felony Fries, but the next item on the agenda would have to be The Electric Chair Burger ($14.50), grilled 6 oz burger with mayo, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, jalapenos, bleu cheese & buffalo sauce. Definitely one of the more colorful spots to eat in Folsom. If you're around to check out the Johnny Cash Trail and then the Folsom Prison Museum to check out their wall of shanks, you should end the day here for some real Shaw-Shanks ($14.50) 5 Crispy pork "wings" dressed in Korean Fire sauce served with cucumber-cabbage slaw, LOL. read more

As soon as I saw a picture of their Lobster Roll (The Last Meal) I knew I had to try this place! So glad I did, because everything we ate was DAM delicious! TL;DR: Overall our entire experience was wonderful! Highly recommend the Last Meal and the Clam Chowder. That portion of lobster in the Last Meal was hefty. It was not super saucy or mayo-y, but I really liked that it highlights the lobster. The clam chowder was actually the perfect complement to the Last Meal, because it gave more flavor to the dish. The Last Meal also comes with the option of salad or fries and my favorite was the sweet potato fries! They were perfectly lightly crisp on the outside and more substantial than I'm used to. We also enjoyed their gumbo a lot. The portions of everything were generous. Service was so attentive and I can't wait to return! LOCATION/PARKING: Located in a shopping center (to the very left end of Kohl's), it was hard to spot because their sign was small and hidden. The parking lot was super empty when we went on a Saturday evening so parking is pretty easy. ATMOSPHERE: The interior decor was pretty simple and classic, with some original artwork on the walls. We sat outside in their patio area, and I enjoyed the greenery, like their tomato plants and herbs. They have a good amount of seating both indoor and outdoor as well. SERVICE: Our server was extremely friendly. He made some helpful recommendations for our meal. We also loved how attentive he was. Our waters remained full throughout the entire meal. The service here was top notch! FOOD: The Last Meal (Maine style Lobster Roll) highlights the lobster really well. The lobster portions were amazing! The fries were also perfectly cooked and delicious. We tried both the regular (Felony) and sweet potato (Sweeties) fries and the sweet potato was by far our favorite! The Sweeties substitution was an extra $2, but I thought it was worth it. Definitely try that combo if you like sweet potato fries. The Clam Chowder (the Chowdah of the Moment) was also the perfect complement to the bite of lobster roll. The Angola Gumbo Ya-Ya was so hearty and had tons of meat and flavor! The heat builds, but it's balanced by the amazing savory flavors and the rice provides a nice texture and starch to add to that heartiness. This was a great dish! The portion is pretty filling too. It was basically the size of an entree. We were also surprised with a slice of tiramisu cake at the end of our meal and it was a lovely creamy cake with those classic tiramisu flavors. A nice little sweet treat to end an already amazing meal! I can't wait to go back to try the Jambalaya, but I will say it's going to be difficult to avoid ordering the same things again because everything was that good. PRICE: Considering how generous the portions were with all of our dishes, the price was definitely fair. The $20.50 price of the Last Meal was justified considering the amount of lobster we got. It even came with fries and others places I've visited just charge that amount for the sandwich alone, with less lobster to boot. The Gumbo ($9.25) and the Clam Chowder ($6.25) were entree-sized, which was great for the price. UPDATE: We ordered two Gumbos to-go and they were significantly smaller in size than the dine in option. I would say it came out to like 2/3 of the size so it wasn't as worth it at that price. My husband found That Dam Place on Yelp and saw the high reviews so we wanted to try it out. So glad we did! My husband and I started with Shackles of Baldock, beer battered onion rings tossed in buffalo sauce with bleu cheese crumbles. The rings were crispy and nice and spicy, and the bleu cheese added a nice creamy taste to it. I then ordered celery soup and my hubby ordered clam chowder. The chowder had a lot of clams and there was no grit. One of the best chowders we've had in a very long time. The celery soup reminded me of my grandma's and I loved it! We finished our meal sharing The Last Meal with sweet potato fries. It's one of their signature sandwiches. It's a stuffed lobster roll with huge chunks of Maine lobster. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. NOT ON THE MENU ask for the Sangria. It's made in house and is not too sweet and full of citrus flavor. My husband doesn't like sweet drink and he liked it. Yes, we will definitely be coming back when we're in town. Side note: Chef Gary graced us with a tub of gumbo to go for us to enjoy later. I have been waiting to stop in here since I saw they offered lobber rolls and finally made it in. The place was pretty empty, how we like it; its green interior covers the dining area with tables, booths, and a small bar seating. I knew I was getting lobster but did not realize I was going to order half the other items as well; they have a small herb garden outside they use fresh herbs in a lot of dishes which is a great touch. A twist of Fate amazing Bavarian-style pretzel survived with beer cheese and a sweet-spicy mustard sauce. Shaw-Shanks - this was by far the best starter I have had in a long time. The sauce was key; 5 crispy pork wings dress in Korean fire sauce served with cucumber-cabbage slaw. I could have had that sauce on everything I ate, and I wanted to buy a bottle of it. The Last Meal - classic lobster roll with Maine lobster, lemon, tarragon & mayo on a grilled, split-top bun. Fantastic. I could have had more than one, but the flavor and the lobster were excellent. Skip it. We were in the area and saw the high reviews, so we headed over. But the service was meh and the food was no better. I liked the prison- themed idea but since it didn't extend to the decor, it just fell flat. Service-wise: I had to ask for utensils after our appetizer showed up. I asked for our sandwiches to be cut in half. Waitress said "uhhh I'll bring you a knife." A sharp knife never came so I sawed our apart with a butter knife. Never got any ketchup for my fries. I am sorry, but weed salad was never intended to be served as HOT. I called her, and she immediately started arguing with me. I mean she was YELLING at me. She clearly seemed to want a "throw down" of some sort. I said "It's okay, we'll survive with the hot weed salad", and I hung up. (We tossed it - it was BEYOND gross). "HELLO! DON'T PUT A COLD SALAD IN WITH A HOT 'ENTREE' "! The onion rings WERE INDEED battered! They were still dripping with some oil, but they were BATTERED, YAY.
