Friend and I decided to venture out after we'd gotten carry-out prior to their dine-in service reopening. If you haven't been here, the people who own/run it, are hands down, the nicest human beings you'll ever meet. Friendly, extremely service-oriented, and go out of their way to make sure you're happy. We got some saki which was amazing, and ordered a soft shell crab roll and the giant boat for 2. Outright polished the whole thing off. Their fish is extremely fresh, and the color of the fish is outstanding in general. I'm pretty OCD about fish quality since I cook for a living, so I was very happy to report that it's very healthy fish. Nothing was greasy, or overwhelming, just fresh. Our server checked in regularly, refilled waters constantly, and was friendly as can be. For those concerned about their social distancing practices, they do have plexiglass barriers, temperature taken at door, and allow you in only with masks. (Obviously removed during eating.) After my visit to Nobu In Malibu, my taste in sushi has kinda been spoiled. Nothing can really compare, especially in Columbus. However this place gave me some hope. They serve very high quality sushi with a fresh taste here. Im happy to have heard about it. Me and my friend came here to get a couple of different dishes and plates to share to get the most out of the menu. We started with some Hot Apps then went to some cold apps, Hibachi and Rolls. Hot Apps: Gyoza: 8/10 - These were very good. Served hot with a nice sauce to go with. I feel like you can never go wrong with dumplings. However it doesn't do much in terms of anything different then any other really good Gyoza from another restaurant. Kaki Fry: 8/10 - I really enjoyed these. They are served piping hot so BE CAREFUL lol. Huge deep fried Oysters that really had good taste. Cold Apps: Yellowtail Jalapeno: 10/10 - This was very good. Really refreshing with a very nice flavor. If you like Sashimi it doesn't get much better than this. Lobster Tuna Roll: 10/10 - Very nice flavor with the presentation to match. Not only does the flavor stand out but the gold flakes on top give the dish a look of excellence. Specialty Rolls: I-270 Roll: 7/10 - This roll was good but just not my favorite. It had good taste. But it just didn't come together how I wanted it. Monster Roll: 10/10 - This roll was everything you could want. It was me and my friends favorite Roll out of the two we had. This was the most fresh-cut sushi that I've ever had! The salmon was so buttery and soft. We shared the hibachi steak meal, a tiger roll, and 1126 roll. The service here was wonderful. Absolutely loved my experience at The 1126 Restaurant but the reason I am giving this restaurant four stars instead of five is because of the price. When I first arrived at the restaurant I was greeted by staff member within minutes and was asked if it was OK if they took my temperature because I went during Covid. I appreciate that they asked instead of just doing it and had everyone in the restaurant wearing masks when walking around. I went to the restaurant around 7 PM on a Thursday in the restaurant was crowded but not overwhelming. I believe that this restaurant is more reservation-based then walkins at most tables had reserve signs and I got a table in the back that did not have one. If I were to return to this restaurant anytime soon I would make a reservation as I would've loved to sit in a booth instead of a high table. My friend and I ordered about five different rolls for two of us and it was just enough. I strongly recommend Monster Roll and the Thunder Roll. The fish was very fresh and amazing but our bill was a little too much. We spent about $80 for five rolls and edamame which I could've gotten at a different restaurant for $50. Most of their specialty rolls were about $15-$20 which is out of my budget when it comes to sushi. I do recommend this restaurant for date night as the venue is gorgeous and definitely would be some thing to impress. They did a good job at making sure we were attended to and got enough water during our visit. I did feel the sushi came out a little slower than I would've liked but maybe that was because I was hungry. Another thing to keep in mind is if the rolls were a little cheaper I would've been able to get a drink instead of sticking to water. I would definitely bring my family to this restaurant as a family event where I am not paying as the sushi rolls were amazing but again overpriced. The sushi rolls were slightly more expensive than other sushi places, but it was also understandable considering the restaurant's location. However, they would charge you extra money if you asked for more ginger. We got so much sushi, but the restaurant only gave a very small portion of ginger slices... I thought that was a little disappointing. The service was very slow. We waited for more than 40 minutes for our sushi to come... But overall the food was great. The cocktails were good and interesting. Loved the age tofu. If you get sushi and sashimi for two, it will be presented on this boat. It is a great choice to share with your friends. I have been wanting to try this place for a long time! I was so excited that the Short North got a new sushi joint (of which we've been in need of since Haiku & Sushi Rock closed down). This place has been open for probably over a year, but I haven't been able to get there until now (many of my fellow diners are not sushi fans). I picked this place for a Happy Hour with friends to celebrate my bday. We made reservations via Open Table for a Thursday night. This is located right near Bristol Republic and Michael's Goody Boy Diner. I scored a metered spot right near the restaurant. Our server was very attentive and friendly. He checked on us multiple times. I got the apple sake as a drink. I wanted it warmed up (it states that on the menu) but our server told us the flavored ones can't be warmed up. I was kind of bummed since it was February and a hot apple sake sounded amazing! Nevertheless, I opted for the cold version. It was good! I got two separate rolls (one never fills me up). I chose the I-270 roll and the Sweetheart roll (it was Galentine's day after all!). My friend ordered the dumplings as an appetizer and shared one with me. They were amazing! Would definitely get those next time I'm there. I enjoyed both of my rolls. The sweetheart roll has a bit of spice to it that I enjoyed. I'm normally not about spice, but it was the perfect amount. The sushi is also cut like little mini hearts. So cute! The 270 roll was good but I should have asked for no asparagus as I felt like that ruined the taste for me. My friend got the American Dream roll and I liked that better (was similar to I-270 but no asparagus). Overall, this place definitely has great atmosphere and good sushi! Okay, I am a HUGE fan of this place. I can't believe I've lived in the Short North for 3 years and only just recently tried the 1126 out. All I know is that now I need to make up for lost time and come back again ASAP! The first thing that struck me about 1126 is the atmosphere. When walking past it on the sidewalk you could honestly pass it right up without noticing it, but don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior. When you walk in you're immediately greeted by cozy vibes due to the dim lighting and moody decor. I ordered a bowl of miso soup to start, and it was piping hot and delicious. I do wish it had just a bit more seaweed in it, but the broth was fantastic and the perfect saltiness level. For sushi, I ordered the Alaskan roll (salmon, avocado, cucumber) and the yellowtail and scallion roll. I could tell how fresh the fish was just by looking at it! The flavors were phenomenal and I would venture to say this is the best sushi I've had in Columbus so far. One of my friends tried the oysters and raved about them; according to our waitress, apparently they are flown in on a nightly basis from Japan. What! This place is the real deal. After a great meal, what tipped the scale to five stars for me is the pricing. Most restaurants in the Short North are seriously overpriced for the quality, but not 1126. My sushi rolls were around $6.00 each, which is a typical price for sushi around Columbus. So that was off putting and we left right away, opting not to dine there that night. The service is reliably slow and I am guessing that's why they can't really regulate how long it takes to eat there... so it feels like there are empty booths that sit empty for 1-2 hours before a reservation. We always end up sitting at the bar because of these empty reserved booths lol. We decided to go with sushi but unfortunately they didn't have many vegetarian options for me apart from the typical avocado and cucumber rolls. Although they did have a vegetable combo option but apart from that there wasn't a huge variety. I do plan on coming back to try their noodles though. The presentation of their sushi looked very pretty. This is one of the few bars that I have seen in Columbus that has a lychee martini on their menu. I have only found one other bar that serves it so far. So that was a pleasant surprise! Long bar with leathers booths down the opposite side. The food and service (Jessica) were perfect. So helpful without hovering. A great selection of craft brews, sake and bourbons. Negori was our selection (love an unfiltered sake). Jessica had a great knowledge- so they will steer you to the perfect selection. The sushi was fresh tasty and well crafted.
