I go way back with the aberdeen tap. My old roommate was a waitress here some years ago so I used to come here regularly (like, once a week regularly haha). Now I've moved farther north I don't come by as much, but I still find time to make it out there for some food and beer. Always start with the mac and cheese squares, and the duck grinder is my favorite sandwich on the menu. I used to get the bison, but they removed it from the menu. Hopefully they bring it back one day! Their burgers are pretty phenomenal too. And there is a special (can't remember the day) where the burger is $5. The beer list is solid. All and all, if you want a place to get good food and drinks and hang out on a patio with some friends, this is where you go. There is also limited free parking. I live in the neighborhood and ever since settling in, the Aberdeen Tap has become my regular joint. Why? I love my cold beer, more so, craft beer. There's an awesome choice to pick from and the food is just great. I tried the duck banger with foie gras and sweet potato tots and wasn't it delicious or what? My Bud had fried Mac n cheese that comes in perfect squares. He was blown away! This is a small neighborhood pub with a decent crowd and not so loud music that allows you to fit into the ambient setting and friendly atmosphere. The service is warm and friendly with our waitress engaging us in hilarious conversations that added to the amazing food and drinks. If you prefer strong liquor, you can go right into the back but, you have to ask as it's not served at the bar in front. It's the right place to relax and unwind after a long and hard day. read more

Great neighborhood bar. We reserved the back room for a party of ~30 people which was a perfect space to get our friends together. The service was excellent - Michael was so busy with making the rounds to continuously get drink and food orders all night and he did a phenomenal job. We were all so impressed with how attentive he was! We also appreciated that the bar let us all keep our own tabs open and separate - and we had drink specials since it was a bigger group. Highly recommend! Food was all very good, too. We recommend the pork nachos, burgers, and fried mac & cheese app - though everyone enjoyed everything ordered off of the menu. My wife and I went here last night for a late dinner. Thumbs up! Lone Star + Gator sausage= Rad! The sweet potato tots my wife had were awesome. Our server kicked ass! She was running the whole floor and we never had to wait for anything. And, our food came out in like 5 minutes. My only complaint was that I thought the juke box was pretty loud. Some friends and I came in for a couple drinks after a long day of eating. The bartender Scott was absolutely wasted, and tried fighting me. I wish I could say I provoked him, because he was an absolute douche bag, but I didnt. The other bartender (who was a model employee) was literally holding Scott back from coming outside to fight me, as I stood on the sidewalk talking to my friend. I'm sure Scott will keep his job, and nothing will be done about this. But Scott, if you're reading this, as a fellow veteran, learn to hold your liquor buddy. Especially if you're on the clock. I didn't try the food, but they have awesome beers on tap and in bottles. Cool, chill atmosphere, really friendly bartenders and waitstaff. The Aberdeen Tap never disappoints. I've come here on a few occasions, last night being one of them. My friends were able to score a table outside on the beautiful May evening. The patio is perfect to enjoy a cold beer and some great convo. Menu: it's definitely a step above typical bar food. For starters, the apps surpass your average "fri-tems". The mac n cheese bites are killer...a generous helping of creamy Mac n cheese deep fried in a crispy coating - all complete with delicious ranch dressing! It's a win all over. We also tried the Chee-vaps which were good...the sausage was a tad dry in my opinion but with enough tzatziki you will forget all about that. Most of us went with the burger for our main course. There are plenty of toppings and various cheese options to make your burger one of a kind...PLUS it's served on a pretzel bun which definitely ups the game. Yummy yummy yummy! My bf went with the short rib grinder which was very tasty and super tender. Most sandwiches are served with steak fries which are good if you like that sort of thing...they are not really my bag, but were still good nonetheless. My bf was smart and got the sweet potato tots with garlic aioli. Dear god these were amazing! I could swim and drink up that garlic "dipping sauce" all.figging.day. Next time I will wise up and order the tots. The Aberdeen Tap is a no nonsense bar that continuously offers up great food and a ton of beer options. This is a fabulous neighborhood spot in the rapidly changing West Loop. I'm a local who's been in the area long enough to see River West change from slightly grungy to an Instagrammable destination for local techies. I'm not a fan of the all of the changes of the neighborhood, but this place has remained a steady, unpretentious local haunt. My friends and I always feel at home at this here: whether it's a Sunday afternoon with the dogs, watching a game during the week, or a quick meet-up for Friday happy hour. The staff has always been prompt, respectful and fun no matter what condition we're in. This is my new neighborhood bar. Except it's nowhere near my neighborhood! This place truly shines. Yes they have a great beer selection, sure the food is delicious (really impressive actually), yup, the music is sing-along worthy. But how many other places can you pop into on a Saturday night, and not being regulars get treated like old friends? The bartenders really take this place from corner bar to something special and intangible. Not only friendly and knowledgeable about the menus, but in the midst of a crowd they genuinely seem to be having a great time too! We were actually greeted when we walked in and immediately treated to some of the best service I can remember. The kind that you usually have to pay for with overpriced food and drink and even that is no guarantee of getting a decent waitperson. Nothing of the sort here. I was afraid this wouldn't be a "family friendly" place but I was wrong. They accommodated us on the patio with 2 high chairs and seated us quickly. The hush puppies were spicy, the beer was great and cold and the dinner was some of the best/most unique bar food I've had. We'll definitely be back! read more
