Ordered Spanikopita dinner and Lamb Lollipops app. The order was to go, about 32 bucks. Spanikopita was great and came with soup. Lemon soup was nothing compared to Olympia Cafe in Savannah, but okay I guess. Lamb tender, but cooked through (no pink) and fries that came with lamb really soft and gooey...did not like/eat them. I was told 15 minutes on the phone, but it took 50 minutes, so I had to wait a long time when I arrived. I was offered a free dessert, but I I had already bought baklava too (pretty good/bit too much cinnamon) and couldn't stand to wait for another minute. I might go back at some point. The Acropolis restaurant is on of our family's favorite restaurants in Chattanooga. We eat here often and never tire of the offerings. My favorite is the Gyro Platter, or the cabbage wrapped ground beef and rice with mashed potatoes, and my wife's, is the salmon salad. It's not just a Greek menu, but very diverse. The prices are very reasonable and the owner stops by each time to check if the dining experience works. Excellent desserts and a small sports bar as well. Finally, if you love to converse it's easier here since there is no extra loud music to contend with. Enjoy. read more

We ordered the Big Spread Lunch Buffet for an office meeting and cannot say enough about the high quality food, variety, value and customer service provided by the Acropolis. Just had one of the worst experiences ever here. Full disclosure I've been here several times with my family and it's normally been decent. Today was horrible. We had a family dinner it was my brother's birthday so we had a large party. Everything came out cold or dry, we tried not to complain or send anything back. We had to draw the line when we ordered Irish coffees that came back cold. Then my sister in law sat in a chair that broke and she hit her head. Management did not respond or make things right, the bartender told us our Irish coffees were supposed to be cold. Crazy. Over and over this was a horrible experience. Not sure if I will ever go back, mostly because of the responses to bad food and bad service. read more

Service wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. The food was the worst part about the entire experience here. I had the Moussaka and my boyfriend had the Pastitsio. Both of our entrees were puddled in grease, the meat tasted frozen, and the béchamel was very overpowering. My dish in particular tasted completely frozen. I couldn't cut through the slices of eggplant with the steak knife I was provided with, which I would've been able to do easily if the eggplant was fresh. Recently dined here on business, and it totally hit the spot. The food was amazing, the service was friendly, and the owner even took time to chat with us. The Greek sampler is one of the best things to try on a first visit because of its variety, but if the lamb shank is available when you go, order that! It was fall-off-the-bone good, incredibly tasty and mild, and not the least bit "gamey." Try it even if you don't think you like lamb. The portions are large, the sweet tea is spot on, and the desserts are over-the-top good. The menu has something for everyone, even if you're not a Greek food fan; however, the Greek items I tried were amazing. I liked the variety, but I also liked the prices, which are quite reasonable for what you get. We sat in a nice booth, and the ambience was nice--not too formal, not too casual. Very comfortable. I really enjoyed my experience here, and if I'm ever back in Chattanooga, I'll be dropping by for sure. read more

I have only been here one time but I was extremely disappointed. I came specifically for the Greek salad, and it is probably one of the worst I have ever had. First it was 90% lettuce, right there is a deal breaker. Then there were just a few crumbs of feta, so it technically could be called Greek, I suppose. A few cherry tomatoes, scattered cucumbers, and Kalamata olives. No onions, and no seasoning aside from the oil dressing. Seriously, this was about on the level of food you would get at a high school cafeteria. In addition, I considered the portion small considering it was an entre. I will say that the service staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, so no complaints there. But after this disappointment, I went to a nearby pizza buffet and made a much better salad for myself at a much reduced cost. I can't speak to the other menu items, and the bar looked well stocked, all with a pleasant atmosphere. The Greek salad that I came for was the only letdown - but a place calling itself a Greek restaurant should know how to make a Greek Salad - just search images online for 'Greek salad' and you can see examples of what good ones should look like - they tend to have a more fine and evenly chopped consistency with a more equal proportion of ingredients (NO lettuce), typically seasoned generously with herb (parsley, oregano), covered more consistently with dressing so the herbs coat the ingredients, often soaked to the point that an accumulation will collect at the bottom of the bowl with a considerably stronger vinegar note and scattered with residual herbs - good for dipping if you have accompanying bread (which this didn't). It's not that their salad was bad per se, just that it was completely off mark for what a Greek salad should be, and more like just an ordinary house side salad - but perhaps I misunderstood something and this place isn't intended to be authentically Greek. read more

My wife and I ate at The Acropolis Saturday March 28, 2015. I actually found the restaurant using the Yelp! App. The food is amazing! My wife had the Chicken Kabobs - perfectly spiced and very tender. I had the Greek Combo. This dish featured Gyro meat, Dolmades & Moussaka. The Gyro meat had to have been the most moist and tender I have ever had. The Dolmades were spot on and the Moussaka made me more of a fan of this dish then I already was. Went here for the first time...just moved here...and ordered the gyro sandwich and greek salad, and lemon rice soup. Honestly...I will never go back. Gyro sandwich looked like dog food (in long strips). The Greek Salad has nothing of a real greek salad...the feta cheese looked like something my friend's cat would not eat. I've been here twice and both times it's been a major disappointment. The first time was a huge let down. I had the fried calamari appetizer as an entree, but it was way too rubbery and bland, and the dipping sauce was nasty. I decided to give it another chance many months later, however, but was just as disappointed. I ordered a simple chicken gyro, which was far too greasy, messy and again... bland. The hummus is decent, but still not all that good, especially since it's supposed to be an "authentic" family-owned place. I was in town for a business trip and my hotel was near by, so I decided to drop in. Everything was fine until the food arrived. Dry gyro meat--edges were even crispy-- and bland sauce. This is our favorite restaurant! We drive 90 minutes to the Acropolis from Murphy, NC to Chattanooga, TN to eat here. Every time we dine there it is always fresh, so flavorful and oh so delicious. The waiter /waitress is always attentive and we love that the owner comes around and checks on us. A great family style feeling, but five star dining. My all time favorite is the Santarini, but like we tell everyone - no matter what you order it will be fantastic! Dinner Specials, Salads, Soups, Gyro, heck, even the Weight Watcher dishes are yummy. It's hard to save room for their decadent desserts and cappuccino, but we do :) I had a friend in Indiana that was coming to TN and wanted to know the best place to eat and of course we told her about The Acropolis. When she got into Chattanooga guess where the event planner said they were going to eat? They knew the best place for fresh creative and flavorful dishes at affordable prices. Should you be lucky enough to have him, you are in for a treat. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks available without being too much of a pushy salesman. He was excellent! The Saganaki was to die for! Please don't miss this if you are looking for the whole Greek experience. This coming from a Detroit native, raised on the Greek town special treatment. what a cute little place. the appetizer wraps were awesome and the mint pesto is amaaaaaazing! the lemon soup was really good too. ambiance is really nice and this is a great place for a wind-down dinner. the hubs and i tried the mixed grill and gyro. i am honestly not sure why i go the gyro -- it was ok, but his mixed grill was better! i've also had the kabob plate from here and it was pretty delectable! they also have a fun bakery full of homemade treats. i haven't tried any yet, but maybe soon!! read more

The food was good, what there was of it, and quite expensive for the amount served. My wife and I stopped in Chattanooga for the night and ordered grape leaves, hummous, and spanikopita, thinking these would be dinner portions. What arrived at our room was 4 waterlogged grape leaves, four miniscule spanikopita, about 2.5 inches on a side, and two small containers of hummous, about 3 inches in diameter and an inch and a half high, all for $26.00. ARE YOU KIDDING? Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else where they know what a serving is. read more

Couldn't get served at a downtown restaurant yesterday, so we stopped here. Turns out to be a good thing! Fast, friendly service (owner even stopped by to see if we were enjoying our food) and delicious meals. I had a wonderful grilled halibut on cheese grits with asparagus and my husband had a fantastic shrimp and scallop risotto. Everything was spot-on. The fish was perfectly seasoned and prepared and the risotto was full of plump shrimp and scallops. Took home some baklava cookies and all is well with the world! read more
