If they get busy is service can be slow to get a drink and they took drink orders from people that arrived after me , it shows that those people who knew they had arrived after me are were rude and selfish, if it was me, I would've told them that that person was ahead of me, but the restaurant should recognize who gets there first, I know the server said hello to me before the other people arrived. We stopped by here for lunch because it's in the museum and has decent reviews. You can also enter from the street on the Magazine St. & Poeyfarre St. Side. I stepped away from Southern fare for a moment and had a fried chicken sandwich with French fries. My son enjoyed a shrimp po' boy. Both were good and served promptly. Lots of natural light with minimal noise. Low-top, booth, and bar seating. Comfortable seats and very clean. In fact, we saw the staff cleaning the tables with a spray as soon as a guest left. Full disclosure: this review is for a seated meal our our tour group. Our group was touring the WWII Museum and our visit included lunch at this restaurant. They brought us into a private room and we previously chose from a limited menu. We did not order a la carte from the full menu. My wife and I both got the gumbo and found it good. This was my first visit to the restaurant in years and they have revamped the area. The ambiance is casual with a square sized bar in the middle of the main dining room and about ten or so tables along the walls. Happily the food was more delicious than my last trip there (sometime before the 2020 quarantine). I was at the museum for a symposium on the newest exhibit (Fighting for their Right to Fight) and had 90 minutes for lunch. I wanted a meal that would be satisfying but not make me drowsy. Typically, I would avoid red meat for that purpose, however, there are so few short rib dishes on local menus that when I saw the short rib gnocchi on the menu, I had to get it. After discussing it with my server, Cameron, I decided that the size would probably fit my appetite. The portions, temperature and flavors were perfect! I would definitely get it again. Cameron served at the bar and he provided pleasant and attentive service. The staff had a smooth operation and based on my seat, all the dishes served looked appetizing. One of the most upscale museum restaurants that I've visited, clean, modern and spacious. WW2 museum restaurant , named after the American sector of West Berlin from 1945-1989. Came here on a Monday at 11:35am, and the place was almost empty. Immediately shown to a prepared table, equipped with cloth napkins wrapped around clean metal fork and knife. Took about 8 minutes for our ordered food to come. The $10 bowl of soup du jour corn chowder and crab was a disappointment, with no creamy soup, and no crab to be tasted. The $11 bowl of gumbo should have been renamed as rice gumbo, as far more rice than chicken and Andouille sausage combined. The soup was a bit on the thin side. Wife and I split the $19 fried shrimp po-boy. It had six breaded shrimp overwhelmed by the size of the French bread, and potent aioli sauce, supplemented by lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Not sure why you need breaded shrimp instead of grilled shrimp when you have the shrimp on a large piece of bread. Dish came with fries- will have to remember to order unsalted fries next time, although these were pretty tasty, and not too salty. Seems like fries are the state vegetable, as haven't seen any other vegetable aside from salad on the menu. read more

We came in here for a bite and a drink after a couple of hours at the World War 2 museum. Their dining room is light and spacious-we were able to easily seat our party of seven. I ordered their Caesar salad which was simple and good. I like their combination of greens with the Caesar because it gave it great texture. I also ordered a cocktail, the Purple Heart. This was indulgent-I loved the gin and blueberry forward flavors in this cocktail and it was refreshing on a 90 degree day. Yesterday, March 23, 1016, my husband and I dined at The American Sector restaurant in the World War II Museum in New Orleans. We were very pleased with our experience - the food was great and the service was wonderful. I have a sensitivity to food and the menu wasn't a good match so I asked the host, Jada, if there was a kids' menu and she said yes, I could order from there! Our server, Marlene, was happy to place my special order from the kids' menu while my husband ordered from the normal menu. Everything about the meal was great - it tasted good, our drinks were refilled without asking, and it was so pleasant to just be sitting after all of the walking around the museum. Caesar salad was actually a decent portion, not a healing pile of lettuce like usual. We tried the lemon meringue and it was so cute and tasty, we loved the personal serving size. Located within the National WWII Museum, this serves as one of the only spots to grab food when visiting. We had to wait to be seated as we came right after our movie ended, but they were pretty efficient with texting us when our table was ready so it wasn't too bad. Now here is the good part, there is an entrance from the street, meaning you do not have to be in the museum to access the restaurant. My group had our planning session here and the food was excellent!! We were in the Louis Armstrong conference room. The menu consisted of beef tips, honey glazed chicken, mashed potatoes, steamed veggies, green salad, rolls and pecan pie. NOT ONE BAD DISH. Everything was well-seasoned. The biggest surprise were the steamed veggies, which were tender, moist, and tasty. I didn't need to add salt. I also enjoyed the salad dressing; I think it was homemade. The pecan pie was more of a tart. The crust was so buttery and flaky. I would've preferred they had used higher quality pecans though. Overall, great meal. (Tl;dr at the bottom) The only thing I can compare this to is a restaurant in an airport. You know what I mean? Those restaurants that have $15-$23 entrées, but never live up to the price? Appetizers that suffer from a similar fate? This is that. The food is not anything special even though the menu sounds fantastic. Firstly, we ordered the Tuscany Sunset specialty cocktail - gin, bitters, basil, and one more ingredient that I'm forgetting. It was not drinkable, even though it sounded amazing, and I'm a fan of this combination of cocktail ingredients. To quote my brother, "It has a cough-syrup aftertaste." The appetizer, we were told, was great. So we got it, the spinach and artichoke dip. We even added $5 for crab fritters. It was pretty bland, but not bad. Just not anything special. I was expectant of my entrée - I chose between three meat burgers that all sounded fantastic, and decided on the Red White and Blue Burger. It promised a strawberry aioli and bacon. When it came to the table, it was oddly assembled and the bacon was burnt. I know many like crispy bacon but this was, like, shatter-like-glass crispy. The strawberry aioli was impossible to taste. I'm not sure if it was even on there. The burger itself was cooked perfectly. It tasted alright. The catch of the day tasted good but was just lacking. A creamier sauce, something unique. It needed something like that. Service itself was great. It wasn't very busy when we got in but got busier over time. It never got packed. The only issue was I ran out of water and wasn't refilled for the rest of the meal, so I drank from an extra that was on the table. Overall, good service and kind people! Tl;dr - With prices like this, there are higher standards. American Sector just aren't meeting them. The idea of the menu is fantastic, but the execution is greatly under par for what it claims to be. If the prices were more reasonable, I could then recommend this place to anyone who wants a decent bite. So glad we decided to stop in for a quick snack while visiting the WWII museum. We ordered the andouille fritters and the warm caramelized onion and cheese dip from the menu. Both small plates were outstanding. The andouille fritters were parmesan dusted and stuffed with andouille sausage. The drizzle of creole honey mustard went so well with these fritters. The caramelized onion and cheese dip was served with toasted French bread. I'm not exactly sure what type of cheese was in this dip but whatever it was it was delicious.
