My wife recently took her BMW 528i there because it was dropping RPMs and lurching while at a stop sign. It had been misdiagnosed by another shop a few months before and the work they did made no difference. The place is clean and professional and the people there seem to know what they are doing. I was one helluva "wrench" when I was younger and usually know when someone is telling me fairy tales. Wished that I'd follow the advise of the low rating reviewers. This place is a BATE AND SWITCH. Yes it looks impressive from the outside, and inside too. Yes the staffs were extra nice when first met me. Yes, good for the high raters, really hyped me to visit. Then,..... Here is my account. You decide if it's worth your trip. I know exactly that I need a timing belt change. I know exactly I need a PCV system replace. Yes I did my home works to know what includes in the kits and prices. Yes I tested the failed system myself. All I needed was a quote. I was greeted nicely and provided a ride back, an expensive ride indeed. I was quoted 69% parts and labors over the dealership's. The parts were quoted 55% and 74% higher, respectively. Yes I intended to do the jobs myself so I shopped for good parts, just that I don't have enough time. Did I not mention I've done the home works? That's why I need you; and what a shop! You don't separate the parts in the kit and charge them separately. Nobody sells a seal for over $40. These seals are included in the kit!! And you gave me a quote for the kit separately from the seals?? So by now you'd have guessed I refused the service. Yes Sir, thanks for your service! Hey, but wait! We provided you a quote. Our tech spent time for diagnoses. Of course, all they have to do is LOOK and HEAR. Did I not mention I've done the home works? But wait, we provided you complementary inspection for other things. I did not ask for! All right,"but is that fair for our guys to spend their time?". Yes, the senses of vision and auditory need to be compensated. Ok, want your car back? Pay us $146! Check the receipt for me please, for I may confuse myself for $1.46. If you care about wearing masks to prevent COVID, do not take your business here. As of March 8, none of the employees were wearing masks indoors. Abbott did not end the mask mandate until March 10. Obviously, after March 10, they are not breaking any laws if they don't wear masks, but for those who still care about their own health and the health of others, regardless of when the mandate ended, none of the employees (at least 4 of them that I saw) were wearing a mask. read more

The team at The Auto Shop took care of Winterizing our vehicle just a few hours before the deep freeze hit the Dallas Area. Not only did I get all the pertinent fluids changed and inspections done I also got an honest assessment of our vehicle's over all condition. They didn't try to suggest additional unnecessary services and actually had no other recommendations for our car since it's in very good shape. They only said to please keep them in mind in the future for any maintenance or repairs down the road. I really enjoyed their service and have begun to follow their YouTube Channel as well. They have very useful car maintenance tips and suggestions there that I've already used. My husband & I have been taking our cars to the Auto Shop for 14 years and couldn't be happier. We have trusted them with everything from a classic 1980 Mercedes 380SL to our current 4Runner and their repairs have always been well done and their service is second to none. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and customer-service focused. When they tell me a repair needs to be made, I know for sure it needs to be made. I've even taken my car in for something and they've told me it doesn't need it. Again, I trust them. Even when my mother-in-law moved to Missouri, she would drive all the way here to bring her car to the Auto Shop for routine maintenance. We recently moved from Richardson, making the Auto Shop too far out of the way in most cases. When we asked them for a recommendation for a mechanic shop in this new area, Jerry the owner researched, talked to the shop and emailed a recommendation to us. Talk about service! POOR SERVICE, OVERPRICED My BMW 535i was heavily leaking oil and I had it towed to The Auto Shop on AAA's recommendation. I was hesitant in paying the $135 diagnostics fee because other shops have never charged me to look at my car. I was then told it would cost $500 to fix the problem. I thought that's not bad and gave my approval. After taking my car apart, they told me they made a mistake and ordered the wrong part and it would now cost $1,082. I did not appreciate the price change. This is not a way to do business and this just tells me they don't know what they're doing, but overall, that's just not cool. I called All German Repair a very reliable and cool shop with 4.5 stars (as opposed to The Auto Shop with only 3 stars). They actually quoted me $200 less! So I had the car towed there and learned that after taking my car apart, The Auto Shop just threw the parts in the trunk without the hardware to reassemble it. That's just borderline vindictive. In addition, All German Repair told me the auxiliary fan was removed by someone who didn't know what they were doing, and was cracked in the process. Turns out it's an amateur mistake made by shops who don't specialize in German cars. That's a $895 part by the way. I went to The Auto Shop with a positive attitude hoping they would be willing to accept some responsibility. I asked to speak to the owner Jerry right behind me sitting in his glass office who looked reasonable and might work with me. That was not an option. Instead I got the supervisor, Erica, who is only nice when taking your credit card number. My positivity was instantly met with negativity. What can you do, some people are just like that. Probably from dealing with all the customer complaints. Why you would put someone like that in charge I have no idea. When I mentioned the 1-star reviews, Erica said they only have 6 bad reviews. Yeah, that's nothing to be proud of, and that's 6 out of 12 reviews. Needless to say, they were less than helpful. Erica assured me they don't make mistakes, even though they made the earlier mistake of ordering the wrong part. Anyway, I apologize for the length of this review, but you should know what kind of people you're dealing with. If you need more convincing, just read the other 1 star reviews. My Car has found it new primary care center! Brought my Nissan Murano in for what I was afraid was going to be a huge expensive repair as the dealership had told me I needed to have my motor mounts replaced. My mechanic, Tim, was fantastic! He gave the car a thorough check up and found that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the motor mounts! I think they were as happy to call and give me the good news as I was to receive it! I had to call three times the next day, trying to see when i should pick it up, only to find out it wouldnt be ready for another 4 days. They did not notify me. I came here about three separate times and each time it has been disappointing. They are overpriced, I never heard from them first so I would have to call to check up in my car, and just overall they tend to be rude. The last time I went there the woman at the front desk was so rude, acted like I was stupid, and then called later asking if I gave her my car keys (which I did so that had me worried they were loosing my keys). The problem I came in for I don't believe was really fixed but now I can't afford to go to another mechanic to actually fix the problem. Brought my car here on someone else's recommendation. I should've listened to my gut and gone somewhere else. Sadly it took me 4 different visits to learn my lesson. Having an older car, there is only 1 mechanic in the shop that works on old steel. They did a good job installing the air conditioner, but after going through 2 batteries and constantly dragging the car up there to have them keep searching for the power drain they supposedly found, I have given up. I'm tired of being stranded and pushing the car back home. Yes, the shop is very nice and everyone appears to know what they're doing, but after dropping as much money there as I have...the problems should have ceased by now. read more

I brought my '07 Mustang here to address a problem that wasn't repaired correctly elsewhere. I didn't have an appointment but dropped the car off before 9am and had it back by 5pm. I've received quotes from other places to have that particular repair done and I ended up having more comprehensive service at The Auto Shop for a comparable rate. Be sure to present your AAA card for discounts. It saved me about $60 on this trip. I feel confident that I'm not being jerked around and will continue to bring my car back here. They would have received a 5 star review from me but I found a wrench resting in the groove under my hood (good thing I looked) and the passenger seatbelt on their shuttle car was broken. read more

I brought my car in here last week because it was the closest shop to me and my car was going into limp mode and the check engine light came on. They had my car for a week and charged me $1000 for repairs. The day I got it back the check engine light came back on and it continued in limp mode. I took it to a another Mechanic to have it looked at and they never changed the oil, they either broke a hose or replaced the wrong part in the vehicle and the mechanic even put a patch on the broken hose...realized it was broken and PUT A PATCH on it instead of fixing it and gave it back to me working worse than before. When i took it back up there to show them what they did to my car and get my money back they told me their mechanic did a crappy job and that they can fix the part he broke for free...John the one that was in charge of "helping" me was extremely rude, would not come to a solution. I told them I dont want them working on my because they didnt fix it the first time and actually admitted to their mechanic breaking the hose but refused to give me my money back or make this right. They even gave me their own paperwork to "prove" they fixed the correct issue but for some reason cant get the "broken" part back for me. The Owner wasnt available to speak with and they just kept repeating that there is a warranty on their work. WHO IN THE WORLD would want to go back to a place that way overcharged them, broke a piece of their engine, didnt do the work they paid for in the for place. They refuse to help in any sort of way aside from fixing what they broke for free due to the fact that they have to because they warrantee their work...I DO NOT recommend this place. They will scam you out of your money and break your car leaving it in worse condition than before they saw it. Now I am out $1000 and I still have to get my car repaired and cant drive it read more

Horrible place. Dishonest. Please get a second opinion before committing to having any work here. I am going to try to be concise. I went to this facility to service my 2013 Ford Edge based on the recommendation of my parents. Come to find out the only reason they go to this place is because it is close to their home and they are elderly. Last month both of my parents' vehicles were serviced there, A 2016 Nissan Sentra and a 2010 Merecedez Benz more than 3500 was spent and both cars have continuing issues that were supposedly resolved. I am typing this while I sit at the Mercedez Benz Dealership to have them perform a diagnosis. In the mist of my parents cars breaking down my 2013 Edge needed a new fan unit. I took my vehicle there. Bad decision. They quoted me approximately 900 just for the part. I asked why so much when I had done my research and the price for the part was approximately 300. I was told they have to make a profit. I completely understand that but a 300 percent markup!!! utterly ridiculous. when I said that they came back with a lower price too. I will never take any vehicle there. my parents won't go back and I will tell everyone I know about my horrible experience. JUST DON'T DO IT. AND IF YOU DO BE SMART AND CHECK THE RETAIL PRICE OF THE PARTS THEY SELL YOU. I have to post because I took my car in for an oil change about the same time as someone else that gave a bad review and I don't know how we could have possibly had such different experiences. My car was done quickly, the price was fair, and the extra touches were great - the employees were polite and friendly, the monkey hanging from the rear view mirror was a fun surprise, and my car was washed. For me, though, the best thing was the reminder sticker put on the windshield. It's a little thing, but I haven't had a sticker in three years that I could read or that stayed put. Several years ago, my wife brought her SUV in to have some work done. This included rotating the tires. As she drove away, after about a mile of driving, the left rear wheel came off in the middle of rush hour traffic. Fortunately, there were no accidents as a result. She managed to pull into a parking lot on Jupiter. She was ok, but completely frantic and shaken up. She called me crying and hysterical. The vehicle sustained several thousand dollars in damage. We called The Auto Shop and they sent people out to get the vehicle. I took her back to the shop to talk to the owner. At first he seemed a little sympathetic that this happened. But, refused to admit they were at fault. He actually implied there was already something wrong with the vehicle. The wheel coming off at that time was our problem. He became condescending, asking what do you think I should give you? "Do you want some wine?" WTF? I had never been talked to that way before. He was trying to cover his ass, with no regard to what my wife had been through. He was visibly irritated to be put in this position and just wanted us out of there. They ultimately covered the repair completely, including the cost of the rental car. My wife became afraid to drive the vehicle and we traded it in about a year later. I dropped my car off for a simple oil change and for them to diagnose the check engine light. They kept my car for 13 hours, never once contacting me to update me on the status of my car. I arrived to pick my car up, only to find that they had only done a diagnostic and neglected to change the oil. I've taken my cars to this shop to have various things repaired, especially since my local Saturn dealership is no longer in business. I like the counter staff and the fact that they make me feel like a valued customer. The prices are a little on the steep side, but I expect that with cars that aren't even manufactured anymore. On one of my cars, I had the brakes repaired, the ignition timer, fuel tank and radiator/cooling system repaired. I didn't take it back in to have the air conditioning system worked on--in talking about it to the gentlemen there, we determined that it could run several thousand dollars. (I took it to a place on 14th and Shiloh who evaluated it and said that they could repair it for 1100.00. CASH only. It didn't get fixed.) Since I wasn't planning on keeping the car, I didn't have it repaired. I like the Auto Shop, despite the prices. My car broke down while I was at work so I had it towed to this shop. I explained to them that I had been having trouble with it and had it placed on a diagnostic machine 2 times and it was not giving any codes. They had my vehicle for 6 days and could not figure out what was wrong. I finally decided to go pick it up and take it somewhere else. Charged me for towing (which I was prepared to pay) and then and additional $100 for diagnostic testing. This would have probably been alright except that I had already told them it would not show anything on the diagnostic test (which it didn't for them either). Why should I pay for something that I had already done. Needless to say, I will not use them again nor will I reccommend them to anyone in that area. read more

First week of April 2012 Dropped my car on Tuesday morning. It had broken down the night before and I had my car towed to The Auto Shop on Tuesday. Later that day they called to talk with me about the repair work for my car, and it was going to cost close to $2,000. I could not believe the cost. Then he said that he could give me $100 off the price to help me out. I agreed to the work and the price. They repaired my car. When I returned to the shop late on the next day to pick up my car, a woman at the counter talked with me about a "Maintenance Package" that I could buy for $150, that would give me many free services which totaled $592.64. I saw that of the many coupons of free services were 4 free oil changes, and I thought of how those would pay me back the $150 which I would be paying for this package. I also saw on the "card" that has these coupons that The Auto Shop had a second location other than the one that I was visiting, and it showed that they have hours on Saturdays. It was not until later after I was home that I saw that they had marked one of the coupons on my card off as already being used, the one for "10% off any repair up to $100." Once I saw that, I did not think it was right of them to mark off that coupon since they had offered me the $100 off before I purchased this package, when we had talked on the phone prior to the repair. However I just ignored that and thought the remainder of coupons would still be a good deal. Saturday, September 1st I decided to start using the coupon cards. I decided to visit on the 1st for a free oil change, as well as a free "52 point check." I arrived at the location where I had previously visited in April and they were closed. So I thought it was the 2nd location listed on the coupon card that had the Saturday hours. I then drove to find it, to instead find that it did not exist. Wednesday, Sept 5th: Called and talked with Charla. She said that the second location listed on the coupon card has not existed in 4 years, and that they do not have any hours on Saturday. I explained that if I knew they did not have Saturday hours I would never of bought the this package. I wanted a refund of the $150. She will talk with the owner, and will call me back. Hours later I called her a 2nd time and was told that she was still waiting to talk with the owner and will call me back when she can get an answer from him. She never called me. Monday, Sept 10th: After waiting since the previous Wednesday, Charla had not called me back. I called again and talked with Linda, who stated that she was the office manager. She stated that she would need to talk with the owner, and she assured me that she WOULD call me back by the end of the day. Wednesday, 12th: Still no return call. I called again, Charla answered, and then she put Jerry on the phone. He was extremely rude and expressed no consideration whatsoever for the coupon card having false information on it of a 2nd location that no longer exist as well as Saturday hours which also do not exist, and have not existed for 4 years. Instead he only pointed out that it had been several months since I purchased the coupons and was just now using them. So? They are good for a year and it is my business when I choose to use them. He would not give me a refund, instead he offered me a credit of $150 towards future services. Did he ignore the part where I said I could only use their services if they had Saturday hours as printed on the coupon card which I purchased. When I told him that the credit not help me, he said he would send me a bond for $50. He talked to me as if it was my fault and did not seem to agree at all that there was a problem with the wrong information which they gave to me with the "Maintenance Package." I could not believe the "attitude" that he was giving me as if I had no reason to have a problem with them and they had done nothing wrong. I reminded him that I would of never purchased the coupon card if I did not think they had Saturday hours. He did not care. He talked to me with inconsideration and rudeness. There was not an ounce of care in his voice. It was all "attitude." He obviously does not care about customer service or the appreciation of anyone that comes into his business for services. So I paid $150 for something that I cannot use, and it happened because they have false information on the card which leads customers to believe there is a second location of the company with Saturday hours, and this does not exist. They give false information and do not care what problems this causes their customers. I will never be at their shop again, and I will be sharing this with many people that I know, so that they do not follow my experience and have a bad experience as I did in any way. read more

There was no problem with the work completed but the communication was very poor. The vehicle was complete but the service manager did not communicate to me that they were waiting for the check from USAA. I called several times but he did not return the call. He claimed that the person answering the phone never told him to call me. Finally, I paid them so that I could get my vehicle back and had USAA stop payment the check to them and reimburse me. We had faxed a copy of the check to them that had been mailed but they said would not release the car until they received it. read more

I had my car towed here for a cooling system problem because of the KAAM spots about their honesty and spotless reputation. I called first but was not told that the diagnosis would not be free. I was charged $62.50.just to be told the estimate for repairs was $1290.00. This was after they kept me waiting there all day. I subsequently had my car towed to a Firestone location where they gave me a free estimate within an hour of my car arriving there and it was about half of Auto Shop's estimate and in fact, all the work the Auto Shop quoted did not even have to be done. What a ripoff! Also after I paid for the estimate and told them I was not getting the repairs done there, I was treated very differently, not nearly as friendly as when they thought they would be getting $1290.00. I used this place for several years for smaller jobs and thought the service was ok. Had to use them recently for a more major job and found them really unacceptable. In the past they would try to be proactive and tell me about things they recommended be done. That is ok-although it would be nothing to get a receipt for the work that was done with jobs totaling 1-2 thousand dollars recommended. This last time they did the same thing-except they seemed to imply that all the work had to be done. Their recommendation was for almost 2 thousand dollars worth of work. I had to think it thru and analyze before I realized that only one of the jobs had to be done-the others were elective. Even the job that they did was very expensive. They charged much more than the dealership quoted. I had the work done but will NEVER use them again. When my neighbor was taking me to the shop to pick up my car she told me that some years before she had used them and they did unauthorized work and she had to go into debt to pick up her car. Took my 2001 Mustang in for A/C repair and was told it would take 1 day and that they would use after market parts to keep the cost down so I agreed to the repairs. 3 days later I was still waiting for my car to be completed and was now being told that after trying 15 different modules that the only one that would work was the one directly from Ford which cost me over $100 than originally quoted. By now its Friday and I had to run over there during my lunch break to pay for the repairs. In the rush I forgot to give them my AAA card so that I could get my discount. By the time I realized it they were closed. I called them 1st thing the next business day and spoke to the manager Robbie and was basically told to bad and refused to issue a credit. (The only reason I used them because AAA recommended them). Apparently this guy needs some customer service training. After not only keeping my car for an extra 2 days and charging me more than originally quoted the very least he could have done is issue the AAA discount.
