Cannot get enough of this restaurant. We come here for every event (birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine's Day, etc). We also bring our families here any time they are in town and looking for a good meal out. Brunch is always delicious with breakfast classics as well as unique options. Dinner is always amazing. I usually try a special, but the menu constants never disappoint. We particularly like the bolognese, the chicken statler, and the mixed green salad has a dressing that is incredibly good. Also, the bread that comes before the meal is worth it. Drinks are always creative and yummy. The Aviary is adjacent to Tickles which is an upscale country shop mostly geared towards women. The restaurant is beautiful with windows all round. Started with calamari, which was EXCELLENT. Ordered the Salmom which was very good. Comes with a side of white rice. Prices for most entrees are $24 and up. Wife ordered scallops which were EXCELLENT and comes with mashed potatoes, also EXCELLENT. One glass of wine and water. Dessert included coffee and apple crisp which was in a large bowl. The Aviary is one of my family's favorite. Food is prepared with fresh ingredients. The service, food and drinks are always on point.

I've been to Aviary's a number of times.... it has become my favorite lunch place to go with special friends... the setting is lovely and well appointed.... the staff is friendly and very helpful.... most importantly, the food.. I've ordered a number of items off the menu.... all are beautifully presented and delicious... no left overs here... I devour each bite... I especially love The Nest, an excellent salad, well dressed, with avocados, hard boiled egg, and bacon bits... I highly recommend this lovely restaurant!!! read more

Knocked it out of the park.... What a great experience; sublime outdoor seating area was perfect on a hot summer night. We shared a salad with poached pears, dried fruit and nuts which they split in the kitchen, thank you very much. Rack of lamb was the special and cooked perfectly with rosemary and undertones of citrus. The wild mushroom pappardelle was just perfect with a light cream sauce yet robust flavors. I went to this restaurant last night with two friends and it was fantastic! I had the pasta bolognese and it prefect. My friends had the salmon and they both agreed it was perfectly cooked and delicious. The interior is clean and spacious with a beautiful outdoor deck, plenty of parking ... Whenever I come down from Boston to visit my family I am always at a loss for great places to dine... The Aviary has changed that! I recently dined there with my dad and two daughters and everyone at the table gave it 5 stars! It was just for lunch, but the nest salad was perfectly sized and perfectly dressed with the right proportions of everything. Both my dad and I were pleased with it. My daughters split the Aviary club (turkey club with avocado) and cup of chowder and gobbled down all of it.. Fries were crunchy and plentiful. I cannot wait to return.. Hopefully for dinner and with room to try the great looking desserts. The bar is so gorgeous and spacious I wouldn't mind eating dinner there either. Bravo Aviary! read more

I recently visited the restaurant for the first time for our wedding anniversary. The atmosphere and decor was beautiful. I went at sundown and the sky peaking through the windows was amazing. We walked by a table as we were being seated that had a delicious looking pizza. I promptly ordered a marguerite pizza and a Sam Adams. My wife ordered Ribs and a cocktail. Both drinks came out quickly. The server was attentive even asking if my wife's drink was made to her satisfaction. We don't usually get to have many date nights throughout the year so it was a treat to have great service. Our meals were served and everything was picture perfect. The pizza was as great as it looked. Fresh tomatoes, cheese and while I don't usually over indulge I only brought home a slice or two. My wife loved her meal as well. For dessert we had the cheesecake and it was heaven. Thanks to all the staff for without them knowing making a great and memorable anniversary dinner. read more

Let me start with what a place! Arrived at 530 and decided to sit outside. Sun was just setting so temp was perfect. Ordered a "woodpecker" martini which was a combination of Guiness and Johny walker black, who would have thought? For appetizer we ordered littlenecks with sausage and that was fantastic. Dinner for me was linguini with more littlenecks and I wiped bowl clean. My wife ordered swordfish and that was more than she could finish. Freshly made There is no dish in Rhode Island that can compare. I call out all my foodie friends to come try The pork chop was tender tasty and my husband felt it melted in his mouth. My steak while I thought salty was made excellent. I'm telling you this is a restaurant that is more than worth trying Beignets ooh la la. Fantastic. Must try. The Aviary is a beautiful place to eat with great service, drinks and a nice view if you decide to dine outside. I had an espresso martini and it was rich and delicious! It almost could have been a desert itself. My entree was on special for the day (blackened shrimp alfredo) The flavors in the dish were great but the only thing holding me from giving this 5 stars is the shrimp was a bit overcooked. Abner and I have been a couple of times now, but for some reason I'm not loving this place. It's very beautiful inside and out and the crackling fireplace really adds to the ambiance. Our last visit was for my birthday. Someone had given us a gift certificate during the holidays and we decided to use it, since we would be in the area. We started off with the Rhode Island Calamari, which was tasty and we enjoyed our appetizer and bread. For entrees, Abner got the Crab and Shrimp Penne Pasta Bake. It comes served in a sizzling hot skillet with the tiniest salad I have ever seen. All of this comes to the table on a wooden board. Very nice presentation. However, trying to eat it is another story. Both the itty bitty salad and the pasta falls of the side of the bowl once you put you fork into it. Our server seemed to disappear from time to time and we had to ask the hostess to bring Abner a plate. I ordered the Pan Fried Cod Roast cauliflower, saffron rice, golden raisins, caper and lemon butter sauce. The cod was very tasty and the rice was different. I can't say I loved the cauliflower it came with though. Our dirty plates stayed off to the side of our table for a very long time. Our server had disappeared again. The best part of our meal with the chocolate lava cake, which came in another skillet. (They sure love these cast iron skillets!) It was really amazing and we enjoyed this very much, but it took over 15 minutes to get to our table. I'm not sure what was causing the delay and the server certainly didn't feel the need to explain. We couldn't find her anyway! I get a strange, unfriendly vibe here that I can't put my finger on. I think it might relate to an experience a few months ago, when our boss took us out for our Christmas luncheon at The Aviary. I've been putting off reviewing about that because I didn't want to write a Yelp review in anger. We all had a good time over several hours, but when we finished our lunch (early afternoon) some of us ventured over to the lounge/bar area. Someone came up to my boss and said they were concerned because they counted how many people were at our table and how many drinks were served to the party at the luncheon and some individuals "might" have had more than 2 drinks. The bar would not serve us. It was strange, shocking and rather embarrassing, since no one was falling over drunk or obnoxious in any way to cause this concern. It became very apparent they wanted our whole party out of there, after my boss, I'm sure, spent hundreds of dollars in their dining room. The birthday experience was better than the Christmas luncheon experience, but Abner and I probably won't ever go back to the Aviary. I guess I'm still angry about the Christmas luncheon, but since there was another Yelp reviewer who had this same exact thing happen to them, this must be their practice. So, be forewarned. While you are having dinner and drinks with your friends, someone at The Aviary is calculating alcoholic drinks to diner ratios and will embarrass your party if you've gone over their threshold. I want to give this place 2 stars, but I gave it 3 stars because of the lava cake. read more

I have never posted a review before, but just had to this time. We happen to find this restaurant on Yelp on our way back to the cape and we're so thrilled we did!!! Our waitress Lori was outstanding! She was so warm and professional that you can tell she clearly loves her job! She was so good we had to tell the manager! She too was so appreciative of our feedback. The food was beyond excellent and we can't just wait to go back!!! We highly recommend the Seafood Sauté, coconut shrimp and Spinach Salad!!! If I could give this place a 6 out of 5 I would. I stopped her for lunch with my business partner after a sales meeting and the food was phenomenal. You have to try the New England clam chowder. This chowder should win a competition. I had the fish sandwich and that was also superb. We sat at the bar and the bartender who helped us was very attentive and pleasant. Went here for the first time a few weeks ago and loved it! The atmosphere is very airy and bright. We felt like we were at a fancy brunch, but their prices told us differently! Everything is super affordable. When my boyfriend and I walked in, he was like, "is this too fancy for us?" And I was like....I don't think so? He ordered nachos and I had a wrap. I've heard great things about the aviary. And honestly, I'm excited to give it another chance at some point. Service was very nice, attentive, and helpful. We started with a Maine co beer and house sangria. The beer and drink selection isn't the largest, but has some heavy hitters. We started with the spicy fried calamari appetizer, which was presented beautifully, but after sitting for only a few minutes deteriorated in taste and the consistency was unappetizing. Tasted really good at first. For the meal we split a large veggie pizza (flatbread used wasn't the tastiest), garlic potato wedges (bland and boring), and a Caesar salad (needed more dressing, croutons that won't break my teeth). After 2 more drinks, racking up just around 100$ on the bill for these few items, it didn't seem like I should be spending that much. I'll be back to try something else eventually, too many good recommendations to not. read more

My husband and I went for Sunday afternoon dinner recently. Previous to the following particular experience, we have had nothing but excellent food and service. This particular Sunday afternoon we had a lovely table in the dining room and an attentive server. Unfortunately, the strip steak my husband ordered, though looking quite appetizing, was not edible due to the high content of gristle. A piece of gristle became stuck on the way down and I actually considered calling 911 because he turned very pale and began throwing up. Fortunately, he was able to force it up in the men's room, but had to send the whole plate back. Still not feeling too well after the ordeal, he opted for an order of crabcakes. My take on this is that this cut of meat, as gristly as it was, should have been noticed by the chef and should have known better than to serve it. On a better note, my swordfish was excellent and representative of the excellent food experiences I have had at this establishment in the past. read more

We went here for our Anniversary and really thoroughly enjoyed it. We're always looking for a nice place to celebrate special occasions, and seem to have bad luck when we do find one, so I hope The Aviary is around for our next celebratory need. We couldn't help ourselves and had to try the "duck wings" appetizer - which was the absolute right choice. Super delicious, with crispy skin and a tasty sauce on the side. The food was spot on, and made from locally sourced ingredients (which they point out where from on the menu). The atmosphere was appealing for our intimate dinner desires; while we were there a close by table was clearly celebrating the Holidays (this was the end of December), and it didn't seem to detract from the intimate setting. Service was good, if a little slow. I do think they were a little on the busy side for a Sunday evening, and it seemed to effect service, my guess is they weren't expecting the restaurant to fill up quite so much. Overall, I would say the place is "just fancy enough" to not feel fussy, which seems to be perfect for a nice night out spot. I don't know if I would take a group there, but we'll need to try it more than once for that determination. My thoughts on that might be clouded by the fact that we went there for our Anniversary, and not just for dinner. read more

I went to this restaurant last night for my mother's birthday and ordered the Seafood Scampi. The plate was delicious however some of my lobster didn't taste right and upon bringing it to our server's attention, the chief gave me a whole new serving of lobster meat!
