I had high hopes for this restaurant, as it had received many 4-5 star reviews on here. It was a busy night and our group of 4 were seated about 10 minutes after our reservation (not a big deal to me, as I will just have a drink at the bar; but if this annoys you, be prepared to wait a little). The server took a little while to come over to our table, which was okay, ONLY because we had drinks from the bar. I love seasonal food, and when I saw sweet potato pizza on the menu, I knew my appetizer right away. I also order gnocchi at any restaurant that serves it. I had ordered the pizza and only had one slice at the restaurant. It has sweet potato chips on top, which honestly looks like the crumbs of a chip bag were sprinkled all over the pizza. It was scratching and just not a pleasant way to eat a pizza slice. Imagine sharp and overcooked chips covering a nice slice of pizza? I don't get it, and I was disappointed when I ate one slice the next day (I ordered the pizza to take home and enjoy the next day, it's what I like to do). I wasn't impressed with the service, waited on refills and our food one too many times for me (and I don't do bad reviews often. If I don't like a place I won't review it as I don't like to spread negativity if they were just having an off night). My gnocchi came out, and they were so dense that I had trouble eating them. Either the chef doesn't do homemade pastas often, or they were frozen gnocchi because they were like something I would expect from a WholeFoods frozen meal. The prices weren't too high, I spent about $150 for my wife and I, and that includes alcohol, but I can eat at Mills Tavern for that and get food that's on another level. My wife ordered a steak and Brussel sprouts which she said was "okay". Again, for the price and the reviews, "okay" isn't what you expect. The best part came the next afternoon. I had been looking forward to my pizza all day. I take my second bite and plastic cuts to roof of my mouth and breaks into three pieces, one was lodged in the soft tissue of my mouth. So, mixed in with the disastrous chips on a pizza was a piece of plastic (which the assistant manager Jennifer Viera took full responsibility for and admitted it was from the bottom of a plastic container they keep ingredients in). They comped MY meal, but that didn't change the fact that we had a pretty poor dinner, and my mouth was bleeding for an hour, and I couldn't eat anything too salty, hot, spicy, or use mouthwash for about a week. Maybe it's just that the pizza and gnocchi aren't their specialty, but nobody "loved" their meals, and I was cut by plastic that came from bad systems in place in their kitchen. I will show you the plastic, some of which has blood on it from the roof of my mouth. It's in their takeout box because they weren't satisfied with making one night so-so, they wanted to make the next week be a bit painful for me too. It was my first and last time going there. They asked me to mail the plastic in so they could see match it to the container that was broken, my only condition was that they mail it back (I wasn't sure if I'd need an oral surgeon, so I wanted to have that as evidence). Needless to say, I held up my end of the bargain, then they never returned a call or email until I sent a certified letter asking for my evidence back (yeah, at that point I called it evidence because I did have to see a doctor about my mouth), but the owner Lynn said that I needed to "stop the harassment" (which was odd since I had only emailed a few times, and just wanted what was promised) after my third email in a month. I simply wanted them to send back the plastic they topped my pizza with, but clearly they threw it out. I thought I was dealing with a reputable place, but clearly I shouldn't have sent them that piece, as it was just so they could throw it out and claim harassment, when all I did was sent copies of the emails and texts from THEIR manager promising to return it. Buyer beware with this place. And check your food for foreign objects before you have some of their bland/frozen dinners. read more
