    A friend and I were staying in the area and after a quick review of the local restaurants we selected The Aviary and boy were we happy with our choice! From the moment we walked in were greeted with such hospitality. The restaurant is beautiful, but the gardens and outdoor seating were amazing and they had heaters above every table-perfect for fall in New England. The appetizer, drinks, food, and dessert were all outstanding!!! Additionally, I am gluten free and the server was very knowledgeable about what options in the menu were safe for me. This place is worth a visit and we just wish it was closer to home!

    Great experience with lifelong friends visiting from Sweden. We were informed by our excellent waitress Linda? That they have a new chef, new menu, farm to table using the best/freshest ingredients possible. They delivered, excellent meals that were delivered with an inspiring look and great taste. We wish we lived closer. We will be back!! We were fortunate enough to eat outside in their beautiful garden area.

    I haven't been here in a while and nothing really excited me on the main menu so I ended up ordering two appetizers and they were SO good. I got a bowl of clam chowder and the mini crab cakes. The chowder was very yummy but kind of had a lot of potatoes in it (more than I would usually like) but other than that tasted delish. The crab cakes although small were so filling and tasted amazing. Whatever that little mixture is on top really made the whole dish.

    We enjoyed a beautiful birthday meal by the fireplace. It was so beautifully welcoming, perfect for a date night. We shared crab cakes which were good but not as good our main course. My husband had the seabass and I devoured a filet with brandy cream sauce, loaded mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was cooked perfectly and the portions were perfect to leave you with a little room for dessert. He had the vanilla bean creme brulee and I had the layered chocolate cake. And while I thoroughly enjoyed it, my husband tried both and said I should have ordered what he had. But only after he had eaten it! Lol. Wil definitely be back!

    The Scallops with Corn Risotto was incredible. The scallops were cooked perfectly, with a very nice amount of caramelization. The corn flavoring of the risotto was addictive. We sat outside during sunset, and it was very beautiful.

    Had a late dinner at the Aviary tonight ( Wednesday 7:30pm). So glad I decided to treat myself after a long and difficult day. Our server Lori could not have been nicer and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. We were presented with warm fresh rolls and butter, so a good start. We split the crab cake appetizer which consisted of two large crab cakes, and the spinach salad that the kitchen kindly divided into two portions. The portions are ample and delicious. The atmosphere near the bar was quiet and subdued, which is exactly what we needed. We look forward to returning when in the area again. Well done Aviary and thanks again for your hospitality. We were excited to eat, so no food photos lol. Before our meal appeared, I did snap a shot of the cool chandelier near the bar.

    The food was amazing! I had the cod dish and my husband had a chicken dish. We both loved it! The chowder was excellent! Really hot and so tasty! Not too creamy. Just right! The bread basket was delicious! That is an xtra charge but so...... worth it! The server was excellent and the ambiance is awesome...

    Been to the Aviary a hand full of times now and have had a lot of mixed opinions on the place. The food is generally really good, easily 4 stars. I'll be honest, the first time I didn't care for the food at all and didn't really want to go back but friends wanted to go so gave it another try and have been happy with the meals the following times. They still serve you fresh, tasty rolls at the start of your meal. If you enjoy outdoor dining, you'll love their outdoor patio which is open year round. Heated in the winter! The drinks sadly have been awful every time. They have good concepts/concoctions for beverages, however, they tend to be really weak with very little alcohol. If you ask for an extra shot in your drink, be prepared to shell out $25 for your drink. This is pretty laughable but the only way to make them tolerable. (I joke saying this but seriously need to bring and add your own nips). $10 for an extra shot of vodka, come on!! No thanks! In the future, I'll go and enjoy their food but will skip ordering their drinks and drink beforehand. If their drinks were better, they'd easily be 4 or 4.5 stars. 2 stars for drinks, 4 stars for food.

Let me paint you a picture of Easter at Benjamin's: My family of 9 adults had a reservation for their 3pm seating. When we arrived a little before 3, we had to wait in a line that was out the door of the restaurant and down a long hotel hallway. We were pretty far down, and as we came in people were wishing us luck or calling other restaurants to see if they could go there instead. It was like being on the RMS Titanic- a foreboding sense of inevitable danger ahead. We were worried about our 3 elderly family members being able to stand in line, but luckily the line started moving after 10 minutes or so. When my party got to the front, we were seated. They did not ask if we had a reservation- just led us to a table. Half our group was cut off by another party that just arrived, claiming they had priority because they had a reservation. Hah! So did everyone else in that line but okay. Anyway, the rest of our party joined us, our waiter brought out 2 carafes of water, and told us his tables would be going first. He felt really bad for the customers, you could tell. We asked him about the food they ran out of as people were muttering about that in line. He said they were out of garden salad and turkey (because they dropped it, apparently. Huh.) but they were also out of bread rolls. If you're going to have three buffet seatings- have food for all three. So the buffet itself was outside the dining room. They had opened at least one other banquet hall at the hotel to fit people, so they were all coming toward this buffet table. Luckily, we were first in line. There were three servers at the buffet for 11 trays of food so it took forever. The scrambled eggs looked awful- very dry. No one piece of bacon looked like it was cooked the same- some of mine were crispy some were chewy. Sausage was fine. They gave you two pieces of each. Stingy! One of my two French toast sticks was hard as a rock. Potatoes were okay. I went to get coffee at the next table and Oop! There wasn't enough to fill a cup in the one canister on the table. No one seemed to be in a rush to bring out more though. The dessert table had some danishes and another tray of blondie crumbs. While eating this first plate, someone finally came around to ask what the name of our reservation was. Better late than never! Our waiter brought us a whole coffee pot because he knew we didn't get any, complete with fresh cream and sugars. After finishing our first plates, some of us headed back to the buffet for round 2. But lo and behold the line was back around the corner! A family friend dining in another section of the restaurant told us that at this point, they had only just received water. Yikes! We did not want to wait in line, so we waited at our table for a bit. Some of us never even returned to the buffet table. A few of us did head back now that the line had died down. I set a timer; it took 14 minutes and 43 seconds from the time I entered the line until I was back at my table. When you reached the buffet area, they had now diverted the line to start at the ham carving table rather than the eggs, so the feng shui was even worse than before, with the line now stretching across the small buffet area. This time, I got the lunch offerings. The ham was alright. The mashed potatoes were incredibly salty. The carrots were mushy on the outside but hard on the inside. The scrod was fine and the penne was fine. There was a welcome addition to brownies at the dessert table. We could've paid extra for a better dessert selection off the menu though. We were not as wise as our fellow diners who complained and got comped, so my elderly grandfather who was paying for our meal paid full price for this, at $35 per person. Oh, and they didn't tell us about the credit card processing fee, costing an extra $10. Thank you to our waiter who tried to make this doomed experience a little better! Suffice to say, we will not be returning to Benjamin's.

I was told the restaurant has gone through three different owners and that there were issues with the previous owner not paying out gift cards. As a customer, that's extremely frustrating. The restaurant still operates under the same name, and there is no notice on the website or posted anywhere in the restaurant letting customers know that old gift cards are no longer valid. Customers shouldn't be stuck with the loss when ownership changes, especially when nothing is communicated ahead of time. Just something others should be aware of before going.

The meal was prepared by the sous chef with the chef away on a break. (We have been here with better meals prepared by him.) My starter came way before the other appetizers (not good). For once, we were generally unimpressed and unhappy with our food, which did not deserve more than 2 1/2 stars. I gave it a low two.. Somehow, every time I've come here, the experience has been excellent. I honestly cannot remember a single bad meal. This isn't a place I visit every week or even every month. It's more of a special occasion destination every few months. Part of the reason is that every visit turns into an event. We always go for the full experience, and by the time we leave, we're completely stuffed, happy, and already talking about when we'll come back. The quality of the food is outstanding. Everything arrives hot, flavorful, and expertly prepared. Whether it's one of the signature cuts of beef, lamb, chicken, pork, or something from the Market Table, I've yet to find an item that disappointed me. Usually, by the end of the meal, I've lost track of how many different things I've tried because I'm too busy enjoying all of it. One thing that always makes me laugh is the famous red and green card system. In theory, you flip the card to green when you want more food and red when you need a break. In reality, after a few visits, the staff seems to remember what you like. I've had servers and gauchos walk by with cuts they know I enjoy and offer them before I even have a chance to flip the card. That's not a complaint. It's actually one of the reasons the experience feels so personal. The service deserves just as much praise as the food. From the moment you walk through the door, you're welcomed warmly. Throughout the meal, someone is always checking to make sure you're enjoying yourself, asking if you need anything, and making sure the experience lives up to expectations. It never feels forced or scripted. The staff genuinely seems to care that you're having a great time. We usually arrive around 5:00 or 5:30, before the dinner rush really gets going. That timing has always worked well for us and allows for a relaxed, enjoyable meal without feeling crowded or rushed. Fogo de Chão isn't inexpensive, but that's because you're getting an experience, not just a meal. Between the quality of the food, the attention from the staff, and the overall atmosphere, I've always felt like I got my money's worth. At this point, if someone asks me where to go in Providence for a memorable dinner, Fogo de Chão is always near the top of my list. Fantastic food, exceptional service, and a level of consistency that is surprisingly rare these days. Five stars without hesitation.

Other adult table was a mix of steaks, sides, and salads with steak toppers. Mixed reviews over there but more over seasoning comments. A few people got dessert and they looked good. Friendly but slow, expensive but mediocre, as tough to go back as the chew on the steak.
