Lobster Roll with Gluten Free Bun
    Mallory W.

My husband and I came here recently for dinner. I was in the mood for a lobster roll, and being gluten intolerant, I was happy to see that they offered gluten free breads and buns on their menu! Plus, I saw good reviews, so I figured it was worth a try. My husband and I both ordered lobster rolls and spicy margaritas. The lobster rolls were $30, and while we got an okay amount of meat, it tasted unseasoned and bland, and we both expected more from it. The margaritas were $15, and I ordered mine with pineapple. It was just pineapple syrup, and unflavored. It wasn't bad, but it was just okay. Both food and drinks just didn't seem to have much effort put into them, and lacked flavor. Our overall experience from the food and the service was just okay. Not bad, not good, but mediocre. The restaurant itself seemed clean, and they had a lot of regulars who clearly loved the place, but we just were expecting more.

Great service, very friendly Staff. The food is very good. Will definitely stop here again next trip.

    Beef tips a la mama

Came for lunch on a very busy Sunday. Our server in the lounge was doing double duty as a bartender and was extremely friendly, funny, polite and professional. My aunt and I started with calamari which was cooked very nicely and flavorful. We both got steak tips a la mama. I found the steak to be cooked nice and with great flavor. It was served on a bed of a very large portion of potatoes, peppers, and onions with lots of paprika. Very Portuguese style. It was also served with some steamed spinach which had very generous garlic. While super tasty, I would had preferred a bit less garlic and oil on the dish. I definitely didn't dislike the dish but would get something else next time. We had grape nut pudding for dessert and was SO good. It was not overly sweet and seemed just right with the balance of custard and grape nuts. It was delicious and an extremely generous portion. The menu was really expansive and diverse. A really great assortment of seafood, meat, chicken dishes, pastas, sandwiches. Truly something for anyone here. They also had not 1 but 2 pages of specials with everything ranging from steak tips, to clam boil, to lasagna. This is a great stop for groups due to the sheer array of options to pick from. The decor inside is very modern and spacious and nicely done. I honestly had not been here since it was a prior establishment and while it has the same "bones" of the old place, they also opened it up and modernized it. Look forward to coming back here sometime again.

Happy place. Whether it's an after work drink or a meet up with friends. Bar area big and comfortable with tables, bar and fireplace. Bartenders are the best. See Jessica. Food is always fresh with specials. Plenty of parking.

I was definitely impressed after coming here for dinner a little while back. Previously it was a really good Italian restaurant called the Countryside restaurant which closed abruptly several years ago. It has much of the same layout as the previous restaurant had. It's mainly American cuisine with some Portuguese food and Italian food selections. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Staff was attentive and courteous. We all agreed we would come back, and I recommend it as well.

    Dried up lobster claws

Food prep is sub par. Dry, skimpy, raw, Even take out is done half ass. Beets not double wrapped. Juice enters main meal's container. Your meal tasted like pickled beets. I complained, but they don't care. Place is going downhill and my money is to important to me when I go out to eat. I want quality. Not getting it here. Do not recommend

My friend had been to the Aviary before and spoke highly of it, and after scanning the menu, I also thought it was a great selection. It was around 8:15 pm when we arrived so we luckily just barely made it before the kitchen closed and we were able to be sat outside. We started with drinks - a Maracuja (which translates to passion fruit in English) and Lychee Martini - both were excellent! They were refreshing, not overly sweet, tasted just like the fruit advertised, and didn't have a ton of ice. All the appetizers made my mouth water just by reading them on the menu, but we decided on the garlic rosemary wings to keep it classic. The menu said they'd be jumbo wings, but they looked like normal size to me which I was actually pleased about since jumbo wings scare me (they're usually raw closer to the bone). They were very crispy on the outside which almost dried them out, but the garlic and rosemary infused butter did bring them back to life a little. I could taste both the garlic and rosemary in the butter and the parmesan cheese shavings were a great touch. For entrees, I ordered a CT style lobster roll and my friend had the swordfish (with fingerling potatoes and asparagus). On Wednesdays, a lobster roll is $20 which is a really good price especially since it also comes with homemade chips. They give you an option between CT style (warm and lobster tossed with butter) and New England style (cold and tossed with mayo and lemon), so I learned something new that day. The bun was buttered and toasted, and it was stuffed with a good amount of fresh lobster meat, and mixed with a light amount of butter. The chips were crunchy, seasoned, fresh, and tasted like real potatoes but just a millimeter or two thicker. The swordfish was flavorful, moist, and did not taste fishy at all. The fingerling potatoes were soft and flavorful as well. They also brought us out an order of fries and they were quite good, maybe missing some salt but I liked that there was a variety going on such as crispy, oily, soft, long, short, edges etc. Our server was great throughout the night; brought us everything we needed without checking in too often. Even though they were closed, the staff did not make us feel like we had to rush out; they were rather patient and we left around 9:45 pm. Both the inside and outside of the restaurant are very nice. The inside gives classy, and the outside gives great space for laughter and good vibes. They even have a section with lawn chairs over turf with string lights. The entrance/exit path is also very nice, with hydrangeas, roses, and other flowers on either side, a white arch, and string lights too. Overall very pleased with the ambiance, quality of food, prices, and service.

We had about 25 people with us that evening I believe and there was not a problem we totally. I think we did maybe 1015 minutes at the most for everyone of us be served. Everything came out hot fresh or cold and fresh. They were running a special for lobster rolls two for 45 and a lot of my group actually got those having and I treated him to a whole belly clam plate which was super reasonable it was like $27. He ate the whole thing which is like amazing cause he had ever finishes wherever we get someplace else I got the clam cakes and white chowder. It was very good. The chat was nice and thick just like I like it. The clam picks were big as you can see from the pictures. I only got three, but I couldn't even finish the three that I had. And that was $12. We ended up being able to sit beside the river and you watched it was beautifully cooling and nice breeze was coming by. It was very peaceful and it made for a good dinner ride from a motorcycle group. They close at 8 o'clock. We got there about seven had no problem being served. Like I said the people that they had super friendly after we came in and we knew they were closing at eight still three more cars came in you know and still they saved wide open and served everybody. They have a daily menu, and I've had some friends suggest this place as their favorite restaurant. We parked blocks away due to the lack of adequate parking. Once we walked in, we were greeted with pleasant smiles from the staff. The menu was short, which we attributed to a focus on quality. We ordered a French onion dip and a littleneck entree as an app for the table. We were served with lukewarm water, neither cold nor hot. The apostle John might have been somewhat disappointed (Rev 3:16). The dip was decent but was somewhat lacking in great onion flavor. But nothing to complain about. The little necks were served in a small bowl and lacked a bit of salt. Rather pricey for $26, but this place charges $6 just for bread and butter, so maybe it's just inflation? Enter the entrees. They apparently were short on chicken legs so they asked to substitute chicken breast. Two of us got burgers. First the $20 burgers, which were served with an aioli with no offer of ketchup or other condiments. In short, both burgers were terrible. Far worse than we make at home. It's always a disappointment when you realize you're paying all this extra for food you can make better at home. The buns were shockingly flat, like someone smashed them by hand. Or in a McDonald's box. Come to think of it, the flavor was similar, though overall the hamburger was somewhat bitter, salty and lacked an appetizing flavor. Wow. We all agreed they were terrible. The fries were also burnt and over salted. My daughter quit on her $30 chicken, so I tried it. The sauce wasn't bad, and it was served with a decent brocollini. But the chicken was some of the driest I've had in a restaurant, with no crisp skin and a uniformly poor texture. No wonder no one finished their entrees. And I hate wasting food. So, as much as we would have wanted to give this place a great rating, we just won't be back. The service, although with a smile, was slow and terrible. Our candle burnt out in the middle of dinner. It was never relit. Our glasses were empty halfway through dinner. No refills on the tepid water. The entrees took an hour and a half before they came out (we were warned the chicken could take 30 min). Generally a very disappointing experience. Hard to explain the rave reviews but our Saturday dinner was a sad bust. The cold wet madeleines they provided in a doggie bag didn't do anything to help. Oh well. Hope y'all have a better experience if you go here.

We were having a lovely dinner in Warren and stopped into Bywater for a quick after-dinner drink. It was a bit cooler out but since they had no seats in the extremely limited bar area, we took the plunge and sat outside near their fire pits. They did not have many wines to choose from BTG which was disappointing. The one I had which was Cinsault was just ok. I had to dump out most of it since I did not enjoy it but that was my fault since sampling it I thought I liked it. My friend had the bartender make her a cocktail with grapefruit since they did not have pineapple. She was looking for a French martini but seemed to enjoy what they made her. My husband's espresso martini was very good I thought and light but could've used some bailey's. We already had dessert so we did not plan on anything else but I know I am interested in returning for dinner. The restaurant is very small inside but I loved the warm lights and decor. It was a very sexy and attractive vibe! If you are ever in Warren I highly recommend coming here for either drinks, dinner, or both. Dress warm if you plan on heading outside to sit near the fire...it does not give off that much heat! Cheers!
