My husband and I love everything about Baker's Table. It is our go-to lunch spot. Salads never disappoint. Tuesday is curried chicken salad day, always a treat. Amy, the owner, refuses to use out-of-season veges. So, get your BLT when the T are ripe and juicy...like right now! Had lunch here yesterday with a friend. We both had slice of quiche with side salad. The flavors were delicious and the crust was to die for. I took an almond croissant and slice of cranberry cake home and they were memorable. Want to visit there again soon to try other things on menu. Small interior space with several patio tables. wow, they have some amazing food and pastries!!!! We found this amazing place on yelp while traveling up the Pacific Coast on vacation. I enjoyed their Market salad with chicken and their turkey Club with avacado that was a special that day. The bread is crusty on the outside and perfect on the inside. Everything was so fresh and homemade. We had to get chocolate croissants to sustain us on our journey. I wish this bakery could be on the East coast. read more

I live locally and decided to give this place a try this weekend with my boyfriend. Upon entering the place was pretty packed for such a small space. My boyfriend ordered the Ruben and said it was delicious. I ordered the turkey and Brie dry and one of he mini cheesecakes. The mini cheesecake was pretty good and we waited quite a while for our sandwiches, but I understood they were busy (not a big deal to me). When I got my sandwich I notice that they still put mayonnaise on it and politely asked an older woman (who appeared to be the owner) with dark curly hair if they could fix it and I instantly received attitude. After that my boyfriend and I felt very uncomfortable for she kept telling me the progress of my new sandwich order and being fake and sarcastic about the mess up of the order. After receiving the sandwich it didn't have much on it and was quite small I thought for the price. There was way too much Brie on the sandwich and it tasted and smelled like fish for some reason. I assume the cheese possibly went bad. I didn't even bother to complain about the sandwich again not wanting to receive anymore attitude we left. I would probably give this place a second chance if it weren't for the atrocious customer service. Definitely the worst I have had so far in the SY Valley.. read more

Funny, how the comments are all over the place, mentioning "conservative vibes" and a few other peculiar references, everyone has their own experience of things. My own experiences have been nothing less than wonderful, food, baked goods, service, ambience and just plain relaxed. Santa Ynez is not a particularly conservative place, very eclectic in fact so, I'm just wondering what people's expectations were? The quality of the pastries is phenomenal, today I drove over from Los Alamos to pick up an order and took a box of them back to my crew and they were ecstatic, nothing left! Croissants are a real standout as are the cookies and scones. We've been in for Saturday breakfast just to people watch and have a great meal. The Baker's Table has a lot to recommend it. read more

Came here to pick up a Rueben Sandwich for lunch. This was one of the best Ruebens I have ever ate. The pastrami melted in my mouth and was not chewy. The perfect amount of kraut and sauce went well with the tasty rye bread. With all of the great lunch spots popping up around the valley, this place is not well known. I highly recommend for a good aandwich. read more

This is a fabulous find with delicious goodies. We started coming for the breads, got caught up in the pastries too. The salads and sandwiches are great too, and the service is homey and friendly. Beautiful bread, just gorgeous. Ask for butter and jam if you want. Salad greens are divine. Salad dressing is way above average. The only reason I'm holding back the fifth star is that I wish for tea service as good as the baked goods, but I am terribly fussy about that - nobody serves tea the way I like it. This is still one of my very favorite places. read more

What a find! Our first trip to this area and needed to find a little something for breakfast. This charming bakery offers more than wonderful croissants (although the chocolate croissant was great and so was the pecan roll) Highly recommend the corned beef and hash! My elderly parents stoped for a sandwich during a recent outing. The biggest issue is the handicap parking is at the opposite end of building from the handicap ramp. My dad who has Parkinson's and uses a walker had difficulty making his way to the ramp. Meanwhile my mom made her way up the steps to hold the door. The employees saw her standing there. After my dad finally made his way to the doorway, the employees told them that they are closing. Could have mentioned this a little sooner???The door was open and the open sign was up. Seems to me that with a little effort my parents could have been served the lunch that they drove a hour to enjoy. read more

Such a pretty spot! We visit Santa Ynez each year for a month and I was pleasantly surprised to come across this pretty bakery toward the end of our visit. Baked goods included tea cakes, cookies, a decadent looking cinnamon bun and scones. I chose a crystallized ginger and lemon scone. I think I picked poorly. Unfortunately the scone was very dry, hard, the bottom crust incredibly thick and not at all flaky, more crumbly than I have ever had before. I ate very little of it. The levain (bread) from this bakery is wonderful and I will absolutely be back, but not for a scone. read more

Why one star? Well, it's not the food, because we never got it. The very unhelpful, unfriendly woman behind the counter (long hair, glasses) didn't put the ticket in. Neither did she check on us to see why our food was taking so long. Further, she left the establishment while we were still waiting for our food (declaring loudly to us and other patrons, "Sweet freedom!" as she headed out the door). The owner actually told us our orders were on the grill--she must have been confusing our orders with someone else's, because there was no food on any grill. When the poor remaining employee behind the counter discovered the problem (after we had asked after 45 minutes about our food), she offered to put the order in, but by then, we were too angry and hungry to wait. An offer of anything from the case wasn't enough, either--we declined the offer and left. Clearly, the issue arose with that one employee who took our order. She was fairly rude, disinterested, and didn't know what she was doing. By having poor management skills of the counter, she has now cost her employer at least $60 a month in business. I don't like writing poor reviews, but I hope that perhaps if the management sees this, they can take corrective action and not lose more dollars. As it stands, we will not be returning. read more

This place is delicious! They made the cupcakes for my sisters wedding last May. I still dream about the carrot cake--seriously the best ever. What a great experience. I had a grilled cheese sandwich. It was the best ever. I have to say the house made bread was unbelievable. The quiche of the day was fantastic. A local diamond!! The poached eggs on toast with artichoke tapenade was to die for!! Not to mention that every dish comes with bacon cooked to perfection. Perfect meal size as well. The pastries are amazing as well and you can taste that they are made with wholesome ingredients. The only bad thing was when the meal was over. read more

One of the things lacking in this beautiful valley had been a gourmet bakery. Now we have an incredible bakery equalling or better than any in NY or Europe. The baguettes, sourdough bread, croissants; etc; are the BEST!!! Lunches are either sandwich or salad; I have four lunches, 2 of each so far and all were 5 star or above if possible. As a critic of cappuccino, good ones are hard to find, theirs is excellent!! read more

This place is one of my favorite places to visit in the Santa Ynez Valley! I love, love the corned beef hash on Saturdays and the sticky buns are fabulous. During the week, their croissants and breakfast sandwiches are the best you can get in the valley. Lunch always has great specials, and I particularly love the Salad Nicoise or the Reuben sandwich....delicious! The customer service is always friendly and courteous, I really don't understand what the previous reviewer. Erin K, was experiencing, but it could be the result of lousy customer attitude too. I popped into The Baker's Table in Santa Ynez this morning, hoping to buy one of their sandwiches to take with me to Santa Barbara. I asked the people behind the counter about the size and shape of the to go box for the Vegetable Tartine sandwich to make sure I could carry it on the Amtrak thru way bus. The young man and young woman behind the counter just went above and beyond. They spoke with the chef and had the vegetable tartine sandwich packaged in such a way where the vegetables would be easy for me to sauté when I got to SB from SY,the goat cheese, pesto mayonnaise and balsamic vinaigrette were packaged in separate containers and the bread and salad were put into the box so none of the vegetables would be soggy nor the bread would be soggy. I was just so touched at how thoughtful the people at The Baker's Table were to take the extra time to consider how the Vegetable Tartine sandwich would taste when I arrived in SB. The sandwich itself was SO DELICIOUS; fresh vegetables and salad along with tasty bread and a clean tasting pesto mayo and creamy goat cheese makes the Vegetable Tartine sandwich one of the yummiest vegetarian sandwiches I have ever had. Personally, I think veggie sandwiches are more challenging to make taste delicious than sandwiches with meat (I eat those too!) because the vegetables in a veggie sandwich have to be very fresh to get the taste just right. Baker's Table Vegetable tartine sandwich was delicious and the way the people at The Baker's Table went above and beyond to ensure the sandwich would taste and be just as fresh and warm as a to-go order as if I were eating it at the store was just so impressive to me. The community of Santa Ynez and the way people treat one another is something to experience. Check out The Baker's Table next time you visit SY Valley.
