I like to start the review with nice things. Server was great and tried his best which we appreciated. Went to dinner to wrap up the end of our girls trip as we wanted a nice dinner. Food was OK, however they seated us outside right next to a wedding. Which it was sweet at first hearing all the speeches and feeling like part of it. But when the 2000s Black Eyed Peas "I got a feeling" and Lady Gaga's "Telephone" started playing we knew we had to hurry up and finish our food. The music was sooo loud as we were next to the speakers. It was a funny experience for sure but mixed with the mid food it just wasn't it. We asked the server how long the music is going to go for and they said 9pm, it still didn't stop when we left at 9:15pm. I'd just wish they would've notified us when we made the reservation or sat us inside where it was more bearable, there were plenty of tables. The Beach House is a lively and popular Poipu restaurant. The view and the sunsets can be spectacular. We even saw the green flash. Park in the designated area in the condo lot across the street. I wouldn't call The Beach House a tourist trap, but it feels more like it than some of the other upscale restaurants, like Merriman's, Eating House 1849, The Plantation House, or Huilani's. The cocktails are expensive. My grilled scallops entrée was over $50, but I didn't love it. The scallops were undercooked, barely marked on the grill and too raw in the middle. The ahi and mahi are safer choices. Five stars for the atmosphere, it's fun to eat here. Three for the food value. It's as expensive as the aforementioned restaurants, fourth place among them for the food. read more

Came here for our anniversary. It was my first time coming here. We got there a little early so we can watch the sunset. I can see why there's so much people here for the restaurant. Luckily we got seated in a booth facing the ocean. We were offered complementary champagne for our anniversary which was very nice. There wasn't too much selection from the menu but we ordered the new ulu ravioli it was sooo delicious, then we both ordered the seafood pasta. I dont usually order pasta at restaurants since they tend to very buttery and rich but just had to! The first bite of lobster was delicious and the noodles was so good. We celebrated a family birthday at Beach House, hoping to get a glimpse of a Kauai's beautiful sunsets. The restaurant is set on Poipu Beach and offers the best sunsets. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating, but fortunately, our cocktails and entrees were superb. We enjoyed their wonderful Monkeypod Mai Tais, Black Manhattan, Lilikoi Ale and White Walker cocktails. Our server was great and attentive. He served our drinks and informed us of the daily specials. Had reservations here for the sunset of course. We ended up being way early for our reservation, but they accommodated us anyway. Service was excellent, Nick was just incredible. Fixed a slight issue with one of our orders super quick and with grace. Very attentive to keeping our drinks filled even though he had several more tables. Would definitely ask for him again. Food was excellent, poke tacos were flavorful and the ahi was super fresh. Two of our party had the filets, expertly cooked 'Pittsburgh blue' for one and rare for the other. Tender, flavorful and presentation was amazing. I had a delicious Ahi steak, enjoyed the japaleno mashed potatoes that accompanied it but could have used more heat from the jalapeños personally (I like things spicy). The final member of our party had the Lobster pasta and declared it was excellent. The Mai Tais lived up to the billing, as did the view. We were crammed into a dirty booth, my water glass had a thick smudge, my mai tai was flat, and service was slow and careless. My kids' desserts were melted soup by the time they arrived. The food was average at best and certainly not worth the price. The valet even gave me his personal Venmo for a tip after I prepaid through the app, which felt unprofessional. When I complained, the follow-up was worse than the dinner. The manager Tom was an absolute asshole on the phone, defensive and condescending, and the email response tried to "prove" my experience wrong instead of apologizing. Completely unacceptable. We will never return and I would warn anyone against booking here for a special occasion. read more

The views are spectacular during sunset and the food was just as delicious as it has been in the past. All awesome choices, the fish was light buttery and flavorful and the poke tacos had a really nice texture to them. One star for the Mai tai and Ambiance. Oh Beach House how we love your bar and set up! Been coming here for 17 years every time we visit. This time we reserved at the bar for dinner at sunset and it was a great view! We got stuck with Joshua as our server though...again. He remembered us but despite that mutual realization that we've been in this service situation with him before, he was very weird to us- the fake pleasantries were wasted on us because we are not new here. He then became incredibly passive aggressive, saying things like "well if u gave me a minute I was just going to go check on your drinks" and "you said you wanted to order apps first so I was giving you time, ALL the time u need" (huh? Rude. yeah but we said that 30mins ago and you never checked on us and now would like to get on with ordering, like SORRY dude jeez.) So he and his bitter and strange attitude made the night worse- had to wait a very long time and watch him check on all his tables right in front of us, and not check on us throughout many moments of the night. Had to ask for another round of drinks but I guess he was "checking" right before we flagged him down. Waited for said drink for 21 minutes before asking again (again made Joshua upset with us) and then the drinks came after our apps were served. He at one point said "oh i've been doing this for years and i know what i am doing." Then why are you asking in what order we want our food? And why can't you just be kind and normal? Not a fan of Joshua and will request to NOT sit in his section, if we ever come back. Felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable because of Joshua. The daily fish special I got was overcooked and dry, the tuna poke tacos were so disappointedly bland, and the green bean macnut were overly salted and seasoned. For our wedding, a friend of ours gifted us a gift card to The Beach House for our honeymoon stay in Kauai. While The Beach House wasn't on our original itinerary plans for dinner, we were more than happy to change our plans to fit it in. First off, The Beach House is really popular, and gets packed! So a reservation in advance is highly recommended! They're available through OpenTable, so we booked our reservation there. The restaurant itself is located right next to a small strip of beach, and traverses a good length of the beautiful coast. We made our reservation earlier in the evening, so we were able to choose a table with a better view, but still shaded as spots with direct sun were uncomfortably hot to sit in. The view from The Beach House is amazing. And if you're fortunately enough to be there on a clear evening, the view of the sunset is breathtaking. This is also a popular spot for weddings, and we were fortunate enough to come on a day in which a wedding was taking place right outside! The service throughout our entire dining experience was genuinely wonderful! We had an amazing waiter named Kevin, who was not only extremely knowledgeable about the menu selection, but was patient, kind, and did not blink an eye when we asked if he could help us take some pictures at our table. He even went so far as to suggest we step outside for even better shots, and followed us out to take some more pictures of the beautiful coast. We went a bit crazy with our meal, but the food was too good not to. For our meal, we ordered the following: Appetizer: -OK Kings Farm Organic Kale Salad: we started off with a kale salad, consisting of: onions, raisins, slices of oranges, macadamia nuts, over a bed of kale, and topped with some miso sesame vinaigrette. The salad was very refreshing, and a nice start to a meal on a hot day. Kevin was kind enough to have the kitchen split the salad into two plates, without us even having asked. Drinks: -Monkeypod Mai Tai: This was highly recommended to us by our server, and appears to be the most popular drink on their menu. Consisting of rum, mixed with lime juice, macadamia nut orgeat, orange curacao topped with honey-lilikoi foam. It was pretty refreshing, and I could see why it was so popular. -Mango Iced Tea: The wife opted for something non-alcoholic, so chose a mango iced tea. I had a sip, and we both agreed that it was a perfect drink for beautiful Hawaii days. Refreshing, yet perfectly sweetened by the mango mix. Entrées: -Macadamia Nut Butter Sautéed Fresh Hawaiian Catch: The catch-of-the-day when we visited was mahi mahi. The filet was cooked to medium, and sat atop a citrus miso beurre blanc, with a side of bok choy, mushrooms, and cilantro sesame rice. My wife said she very much enjoyed her meal, and the small bite I had of her mahi was cooked perfectly. -Seared Ahi Steak: Ordered my ahi rare, as it is a shame to eat fresh ahi any other way. The fish was fresh, delicious, and garnished with a side of mashed potatoes and baby carrots. Dessert: -Lemon Semolina Cake: A fluffy lemon cake, topped with lilikoi whipped creme fraiche, plus pineapple and strawberry pieces. A nice, refreshing dessert after a full meal. -Chocolate Tart: A rich chocolate tart, topped with vanilla whipped cream. We knew we shouldn't have added this last dessert item, but calories don't count when you're on vacation right? The chocolate was rich, creamy, yet smooth. And was quite delightful to indulge in. What an amazing experience from start to finish. And one I highly recommend everyone experience when you're in the south-side of Kauai! The Potstickers were brilliantly balanced. The Poke Tacos were better then the vast majority. And the Ahi Steak minimally seared (everyone overdoes it) was cosmic and existentially changing. The menu was limited in terms of entree selections, so I was able to try most of their offerings, all of which were cooked perfectly. I ordered the Wasabi Buttered Fresh Island Fish, which was nairagi (striped marlin) during my visit, and it had a firm and meaty texture, yet still very tender. I was worried the wasabi would be overpowering, but it was actually quite mild. The accompanying lilikoi lemongrass beurre blanc and cilantro sesame rice complimented it nicely. This ended up being my favorite entree out of everything my party ordered since it was more unique. The Macadamia Nut Butter Sautéed Fresh Hawaiian Catch, which was mahi mahi during my visit, was soft and flaky. The Seared Ahi Steak was buttery in texture. Definitely a place that is there for the view and cocktails. Positives: The view. Obviously. It's perfect. Book a table for 5:30 and watch the sunset yourself. Options for seafood, meat, or vegan. They even have a kids menu, but it's sparse (and expensive) with basic pasta (for like 14 bucks!), chicken, or fish. Cocktails are divine but also $18 each. Negatives: Nothing was all that amazing except the drinks. My vegan Asian style noodles and veggies were fine. Nothing to write home about. My husband's fish was fine. My kids got box and boil pasta for way too much money. I think bread or something should be served, but it wasn't. Not to me or anyone around me. Valet should be free, but it's not. Watermelon salad was good, but not shockingly good or anything. I wouldn't order it again. Service was okay. It was massively busy and our server was a bit aloof. The drink was very tasty but not very strong and also not worth the $20. So many interesting restaurants on the island. Tried a variety of items including their green beans, kale salad, ahi, and a couple kids dishes and a bit of a mixed plate with the food that was served. The highlights of the evening were the kale salad which was bright in flavor and the green beans in their Asian sauce with Mac nuts. The ahi was not really seared well, but tasty enough to pass on a return. Kids meals were a red sauce on noodles without much attention paid to it. Service- the 1st time we ate here the service was horrid but I figured the island had just reopened so they didn't have their "groove" yet. After that the service has either been ok/ good to phenomenal. Food- again all over the board. Haven't had anything horrid but haven't had anything out of this world either. For the price I expect it to be a little better than ok. The view can be amazing if you are a lucky one to be near the window or outside. But if you are an inner table you don't see much other than people standing at the window taking photos. The noise- we have sat "outside" on a small lanai and it was perfect. We have sat inside not at the windows and it was so loud you couldn't have a conversation with your own table. read more
