I love the Diner restaurants an this definitely fits the bill. As soon as you walk in your greeted with smiles a the smell of good food. It's very cozy but still has enough tables inside an out to seat a lot. They have pictures lining the walls which I'm assuming is all the past truck drivers who have eaten there hence the name The big Rig 2. It's very cute and I love the history that I'm sure the pictures bring. The food was definitely home comfort food that was very good. My husband had the trucker with biscuits and gravy and had the 2 eggs with bacon combo with an extra side of grits. It was all very good. The biscuits and gravy definitely homemade and absolutely delicious. The grits were also really good as well. The portions are way more enough a fill you up. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. They also have daily specials that they put up on the white boards. The menu has a white selection of breakfast items, lunch items and more. There's something for everyone we will definitely find what you're looking for. Highly recommend trying them. Can't wait to go back so glad we stopped here and had breakfast.

    Cornbread! Think cornbread 'cake'!

I rolled my 18 minus 14 wheeler into the parking lot. I voiced my best "PSSSHHH" air brake sound to complete the effect. Finding this place online, we had a big case of 'review envy', in a mouthwatering way. Welcomed in a Big Rig way by Bethany holding the door open for us was a real nice touch. Beth, as they call her was to be our server as well. Very impressed, I was already mind-writing this review. Understand that the menu is a teasing collection of homespun favorites mixed with intriguing combinations. Bologna, that oft-forgotten sausage plays a big role in several recipes. Grilled bologna and eggs. Egg, cheese & bologna sandwiches. Bologna grilled cheese. Etc. You can get a good ol' PB&J sandwich, with grape jelly. My Fav Fab One, also known as Beth, ordered the 4 Piece Fried Chicken Dinner. I had been considering a northern style pork cutlet sandwich. Or, a Philly Steak Hoagie and a cup of chili. Chili is awesome on a cool November day. Lots of tongue tingling choices, so many wonderful choices. But, when the 'other' Beth stepped in to take our orders, I was already imagining some Big Rig pigging out on some fine fried chicken! THE BEST fried chicken either one of us has EVER had! Sweet. Juicy through and through. Lip smacking, finger licking damn good! We were getting a lot of smiles per gallon on this poultry-leum! Ohhhhhhhhhh man! Cornbread. The cornbread raised the bar to a level that will never be matched. Think 'cornbread cake'! Moist. Sweet. Moist. Sweet. Heaven to eat. Hands down the bestest cornbread ever. By the time we put our forks down, we were in La La Land. The food. La WOW! The service. La Wow! The whole experience. Yep. La Wow! I could literally eat every meal, breakfast, lunch and dinner at this place. They are open 24/7 after all. It would be a real 'Weigh Station' expectation. Tell them John, and my Beth sent ya!

Open 24hrs, even on holidays (yes that includes the big ones), and the full menu available all the time? LOVE. This is a southern local diner in Deland that has one of the most extensive breakfast menus I've ever seen. We were driving home from Ocala and needing dinner on a Sunday night, when I spotted this gem and busted a U-turn! This place gives me Waffle House vibes, without the open kitchen. There were people eating, to-go orders being picked up, and a generally welcome-to-all energy. We came when the waitresses were swapping shifts, and it was nice that the one who clocked out checked on us before leaving. They have a very large menu with so many southern classics that I love. They also have specials boards around the restaurant, and tonight they had a pot roast that came with 3 sides, bread and a slice of banana cake for $15.50! Yes, that seems like a high price for a diner, but it was so much food and also they deserve to charge more in this ever increasing price market! It was worth it too. My husband got the fried chicken which was a half a chicken with 2 sides and bread. Our meals were so big, we could've shared one easily. We both have leftovers for lunch tomorrow! The food looked average but it tasted above. The pot roast was fall apart tender and the brown gravy really set it off. The mashed potatoes, yams and green beans were all solid choices and I really loved the cornbread. The banana cake was super cute and the perfect end to my meal! 100% will be back here again.

I also got an order of toast and I had to order a biscuit, since they are made in-house. The food was great, I really enjoyed how tasty everything was. The steak was a moderate size, but overall it was a good amount of food on the plate. I definitely enjoyed the gravy, never seen such great gravy, and the hash browns were absolutely perfect. The pancakes were really good also. The coffee was good quality and the staff kept coming around with a refill. Locals come to this restaurant, it really feels like a genuine diner where the community meets. Unfortunately, they were talking about politics and getting loud, so on my particular visit, that was a turnoff. But other than that, everything was extremely good. Definitely coming back. Lots of Philadelphia Eagles memorabilia lines the walls - and it did feel like a NE Diner. Great start! - but the food was, honestly, just so-so. The cheesesteak was roughly assembled and average. My son got breakfast burrito which was mostly fluffy egg, poorly wrapped and ill-conceived. It sounded so good on the menu, but did not live up to expectations. Perhaps we caught them on a bad day. But there are too many diners in the area to settle for this one.

Waitress should dress appropriately. who wants to see someone's flab sticking out of shorts. What a pathetic experience. A restaurant should have what's on the menu! He knew all about the show and thought we should be finished with our dining by 7:10 in order to get to the theater on time. Our waitress was Amber. When she asked for our order we said we'd like some wine and sip for a few minutes before we started eating. She replied that she knew we were going to the show and that they were booked pretty heavily and sometimes the kitchen might be backed up in that situation. She told us about the specials in excellent detail, all the while keeping a genuine smile on her face. We worked the timing details out and Amber was on top of it. My wife had the Cress Salad and I had the Escargot appetizer. Main course came out when we finished the salad and appetizer. We had the Hanger Steak and the Duck breast; both were absolutely perfectly well prepared and delicious. Let me explain... we thought the tuna tartar was delicious. The elk bolognese seems to enjoyable. My shirmp and grits was a bit on the salty side. I'm glad I asked for sauce on the side, and even with half the sauce, it was still too much. The most disappointing part is the chicken tikka masala. There was tiny bits of chicken, and too too much root vegetables, at different cooking levels, which make it both confusing and slighly annoying. Last, we tried the creme brulee, and the top was essentially a layer of slightly cooked sugar... I'll try the scallops next time. Maybe.

This place is really classy and authentic and isn't your everyday ordinary Cuban restaurant. This place is great if you just want to grab a sandwich or you want to have a special date night and relax while enjoying a meal you won't forget. Tey have indoor and outdoor dining, and I noticed the tabletops are made from high end Quartz with gold metal flake and the decor and lighting sets the mood for an incredible dining experience. My first time here I ordered a Cuban sandwich meal, and it was absolutely the most incredibly delicious Cuban sandwich I have ever had anywhere and the service was top notch.

We had friends visiting and decided to come in on a Saturday evening without reservations. We were…read moretold there would be a short wait, which was completely fine, and we didn't mind spending about 20 minutes upstairs on the rooftop enjoying the DJ and atmosphere. Once seated, we were placed in the second dining room and ordered drinks, four appetizers, and our entrees. Unfortunately, from the start, the table was not properly set. We had no silverware, no napkins, no side plates for sharing appetizers, no coasters, and really no table settings at all. For a party ordering multiple appetizers and drinks, this immediately made service feel disorganized and inattentive. The issue became even worse when our entrees arrived and, almost immediately after, staff started stacking chairs around us at approximately 9:12 p.m. We had only been seated maybe 15-20 minutes earlier, so as a party of five on a Saturday night, we certainly did not expect the restaurant to begin visibly shutting down while we were just starting our meal. What made it even more frustrating was that these tables were already available when we first walked in, despite being told there would be a wait. Since we were entertaining guests, we thought this would be a great opportunity to show off the rooftop, which is such a great feature for a small town like DeLand and has so much potential. Instead, the experience became embarrassing and disappointing. Having staff stack chairs and place them on tabletops in the middle of our meal felt incredibly rude and unprofessional. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere and made us feel rushed out rather than welcomed. When we asked to speak with a manager, the response we received was that "the servers have to go home." That explanation was unacceptable. Paying customers should never be made to feel like an inconvenience, especially while actively dining. With my own background in restaurant service and management, I found both the handling of the situation and the manager's response to be extremely poor. As a DeLand local, this was especially disappointing because this restaurant has been making improvements and adding entertainment, which we were excited to support. Unfortunately, the poor service and lack of professionalism completely overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable night out.
