This is a review for both their restaurant area which I went to last year and the cafe today ---- I loved the artichoke tacos. Not some thing I would think of ordering as it's not a usual thing on the menu, but the artichoke was deep-fried and the tacos were full of vegetables, so it was the best of both worlds. The two others in my party got the chicken tenders and the corn dogs with french fries. They thought it was a good value considering it's so expensive eating out these days. We were offered all kinds of condiments. We got there early and the window was open so we stood waiting until the worker told us that they don't open until 11:30 AM. Went to the Cafe next-door for coffee and a cinnamon bun Meanwhile. Once we could place our order we were able to pay with Apple Pay and got a buzzer. When the food was ready, we went to the other side of the little building to pick up our food. We sat on the upper patio with the dogs. They were trash cans, indicating where to put which kind of trash. Did not see any canned for regular trash that we had with us. They only serve recyclable and compostable trash, which is great. There is a restroom on the side of the building. The parking was easy at the end of the lot at the time we arrived, 11 AM on a Monday, but it was filling up as we sat at the restaurant. ---- Went to the cafe side for coffee and breakfast burritos. They have decaf espresso and my husband enjoyed his regular coffee. We both liked the bacon better than the veggie burrito and appreciated the hot sauce. WiFi password is on the board. There are some stairs that go to an outdoor seating area and there are two tables in the very front, but it was raining today so we sat inside next to the fireplace place. read more

Sooo happy to find my new favorite spot to get lunch at when Im on the coast. Good sized parking lot. A long-ish line but moves quickly. You order through the front bungalow and pick up in a small window in the back. We got the lobster roll w/fries, chicken strips w/fries & the clam chowder. Oh man...the food is freakin' delicious!! Every single item was soo good. They know how to do seafood/coastal food. One of the best lobster roll I have had outside of the East Coast. Food: (2.5/5) I almost didn't want to write this review because of the nice staff but we were served rotten oysters. We ordered 1 dozen raw and 1 dozen grilled. When I got the oysters, I could already smell a rotten one, but wasn't too sure until we ate one. It was a grilled one. I grill oysters all the time and trust me, you know when you got a dead oyster. The smell when cooking a dead oyster sticks up your whole house!!! I honestly feel like they shouldn't have served those oysters. It wasn't happy hour price or $1 oysters, it was about $3-$4 per oyster. All the oysters were mushy. It was just not good. We also ordered clam chowder and a salad, those were average! Hopefully they won't serve bad/dead oysters especially when it's not in season and we're paying a hefty price for one too. read more

We had an awesome afternoon here! I've driven by this place a million times and always wanted to stop, so today we did just that! The line was quite long but moved at a super reasonable pace. The food is cooked fresh to order so there is a bit of a wait but it's worth every moment. Plus, as you wait, all there is to do is stare out at the Bay, so who's complaining? Our tray of fried heaven was ready in about ten minutes, and man oh man was it good!!! We ended up having to tailgate bc our doggo just can't seem to handle herself around other dogs, but that's a "me" problem. This place had some of the best fish and chips I've ever tasted! I'm from Oregon and for years a friend and I would rate fish and chips up and down the Oregon coast. We found some really tasty places, but hands down, this beats all of them! The fries were even good, but the fish was amazing! My only suggestion would be to add some coleslaw to the meal. Took a short trip up to Bodega Bay and stumbled upon The Birds Cafe. Glad we did. It was so good, we ate lunch there 2 days in a row. First rate fish and chips. My wife opted for the crab roll. Second day, she read their corn dogs were supposed to be great, and since you can't find a Hot Dog on a Stick anywhere these days, she went for that. Said it was delicious. I had the shrimp tacos. Place your order at the window, and then find a seat on their deck looking out at the bay. The beer battered fish tacos are to die for and are consistently delicious. Oysters and Lobstah Rolls We spent Easter weekend in beautiful Sonoma County. Our home away from home was in Windsor... we took a scenic route and our plan was to have lunch in Bodega Bay. With all the stops we made along the way we still made it to Bodega Bay in time for lunch at 12:30p. The private parking lot was full so hubby had to find street parking across the street. The line was pretty long but I was determined to have my first taste of oysters here. Yes, you read that right... I've never had oysters before. The seating on the beautiful deck with large umbrellas (overlooking the bay) was completely full but we were able to find a table under a covered patio next to the gift shop. This was our first time here, I presume pre pandemic guests were able to go inside the building to place orders. During covid times we were not able to go inside, instead, when called, each party went around the building to place their orders. The menu is limited and casual but very good. We ordered the following: Lobster Roll $23.95 - 1/4-lb of lobster goodness in buttered brioche bun... love those big chunks of lobster. Delicious! 2-pc Fish & Chips $14.95 - excellent fish with batter and chips fried to perfection, not soggy, perfectly crispy. BBQ Oysters (6) $18 - fresh from Hog Island Oyster Co, the oysters were about the best I've ever enjoyed. The oysters were already detached from the shell and doused with delicious herb butter. Of course, it was my first time. Ooh la la! Love at first slurp! hahaha I must admit we were attracted by the Hitchcock theme but it had nothing to do with the movie. While driving through town we were super hungry and decided to check this place out. The name clearly capitalizes on the fact that Hitchcock filmed The Birds here in Bodega Bay, but if you're looking for the actual restaurant from the movie, that is The Tides just down the street (although it looks totally different now). This cafe had good reviews though, so we parked and headed to the window to order. The food was tasty and hit the spot! It was perfect especially during COVID since you order at the window and find outdoor seating. They also had a restroom on the side of the building which was convenient. I went with the prawns and chips which were very good. It came with a side of cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. My partner isn't a seafood person (which is the cafes focus) but she really enjoyed the chicken tenders and fries. Prices seemed reasonable especially for the location. They have a great selection of drinks as well as breakfast items. I believe they usually have baked goods as well, there was only almond cake when we were there. The service was fairly fast, we got there right at opening. The seating is very nice, they keep it very clean and tidy in the outdoor seating. The fish had ZERO seasoning, not even salt! It was the most bland fish that any of us had ever eaten. The clam chowder was also flavorless. They did not have salt or pepper on the table. They had to bring it to us from the kitchen. The best thing was the sautéed shrimp on the salad and the french fries.
