The Bite of Korea is truly more of a Korean-American fusion spot than traditional Korean cuisine. I tried the bulgogi quesadillas and the chicken wings. Both were good but definitely lean more toward fusion than authentic Korean dishes. If you're expecting classic Korean flavors, this might not fully hit that mark. That said, if you go in with the mindset of enjoying creative, Korean-inspired comfort food, it's a solid option. We usually drive up to Duluth for Korean food so we were interested to try a spot a bit closer to home. The restaurant is very cute and has a good amount of seating inside (as well as a small patio). Our server was a trainee who was very friendly and gave us a good tip that we could see pictures of the dishes on their website. We started with the corn cheese and the rice cake/sausage skewer. We've had both before at different establishments and we're a bit underwhelmed. The corn cheese was the better of the two and the portion size was great. The skewer was just not great- the sausage had no char and the rice cakes were a bit flimsy. The bulgogi quesadilla was the best part of the meal. It came with spicy mayo and sour cream. The Gochujang chicken ricebowl was bad. It didn't taste like gochujang at all, moreso had a curry flavor. My partner was super disappointed since the whole reason he got it instead of the fried chicken was for the sauce. Overall giving it 4 stars but would be a 3.5 if I could do half ratings. We might go back in a pinch but might also just drive to Duluth for Korean food instead. read more

Had a great time at BOK for our first visit. Service was excellent from the get go. Terrell was our server and he was wonderful, so friendly and fast with everything! We both had the hot stone bibimbap with bulgogi beef which was very flavorful and a LOT of food. I wish the rice had gotten crispy on the hot stone, but it still tasted great. read more

They serve a little banchan (side dishes) of two kinds of kimchi and a pickled radish dish. We all enjoyed those. I had the creamy onion (Korean fried chicken) KFC chicken. It was sweet and creamy and the chicken was very crunchy, but still juicy. These are not frozen pieces of chicken. It's real Korean fried chicken bites. I think that's really where the name for this restaurant comes from... They do whole chickens in you know boat in chicken and stuff, but their signature dishes are the bite-size pieces of chicken with no bones. I hesitate to call them chicken nuggets because they're clearly better than chicken nuggets. The onions were crunchy and sweet not overpowering at all. The sauce was a mayo type of sauce, sweet and creamy - pretty good overall. My dad had the regular (Korean fried chicken) KFC chicken. His chicken came out without anything on it because he requested them to have the sauce on the side his sauce was something like a gauchjuang sauce with a little graininess to it, it was sweet, and little kick of spiciness. I think that a really nice twist would be to make the creamy onion KFC with a good drizzle of the gauchjuang sauce over top. I used my dad's sauce over my creamy onion KFC and it was superior in every way. My sister had the Bulgogi quesadilla. The meat was tender and sweet with the marinade sauce, but it was also gooey and cheesy and melting. The outside was crispy. My sister also got a bong bong drink? Basically grape juice with some peeled grapes in it. She said she liked it. The interior of the place was nicely decorated and clean. They still look brand new inside and out. The facilities are nice. The staff was very friendly except one lady who gave off some "Karen vibes". Overall, I would say this place is a thumbs up and you should definitely give them a shot. It's good for small groups, big groups, and all kinds of groups. They've got good drinks. They've got good food and the overall atmosphere is pretty chill it's not loud at all. It's nice and quiet. The only downside to the ambience would be having to sit so close to other people being that the place is a little bit small for the amount of seating that they put in some of the tables are a little bit close to each other. read more

We were originally going to have brunch at a place nearby, but they were much too busy to take us, so we settled here instead for lunch. It looked nice enough when we went in, and they sat us immediately. We did check, and the reviews seemed good, but perhaps they should be taken with a grain of salt... The five of us were unimpressed with most of the offerings, and in the end, it would've been more worth it to drive 15-30 minutes to go elsewhere, say for example Duluth, if we wanted good Korean food. I'll start with the stew. It wasn't spicy, which I was hoping for, and it was just mostly salty. It's fine with the rice, but I would feel bad if that was someone's first introduction to Korean food when I know how good it can be. How warm and tasty it could be. We all had a bite from each item we ordered because why not, so I'm not sure what they did with the bulgogi. The bulgogi in the rice bowl and japchae and bulgogi plate were dry and not well marinated, but the bulgogi in the quesadilla was much, much better, and isn't that kind of sad? The actual Korean dishes all fell short to the Asian fusion dish. In fact, it was the only good menu item. Like genuinely good. Everything else was alright, and I would never order again, but the quesadilla... it's worth getting for takeout. read more

I've been slowly catching up on reviews from my past few months of check-ins, but this one demanded to be written immediately -- because some experiences are too disappointing to put off. After leaving the gym, my fiancée stopped at Publix to handle a quick return that, as always, turned into a bit of shopping. After about 30 minutes, I started getting hungry and wanted something light. I noticed the sign for The Bite of Korea in the same plaza, looked it up online, and saw they offered a House Soup (Korean Radish & Green Onion Soup) for just $1.50. Sounded like an easy win, so I decided to give it a try. When I walked in, I was greeted right away and ordered two cups of the house soup to go. As I sat waiting, I happened to notice the 90 health score posted on the wall -- not the worst, but not exactly comforting either. Still, I was already invested, so I brushed it off. When my order came up, I took the first cup and downed it pretty quickly. Hunger'll do that to you. The flavor was okay -- warm, simple, a bit salty, nothing special. Then came the second cup. I pulled the lid off, and right there floating near the top was a gnat. My appetite was gone instantly. That moment made me question if the first cup -- the one I'd already devoured -- had one too and I just didn't notice. To make matters worse, the whole pickup process felt disorganized. A staff member walked out, asked my name, looked around, and casually said, "oh, here you go," like my food had been sitting out for a while. That was all I needed to see. Between the questionable handling, the gnat, and the uneasy feeling that came with it, this was my first and last visit to The Bite of Korea. I've been meaning to try this spot for the longest time. As a veteran I was stationed in Seoul Korea and beside the beauty of the country and people, the food is what sustained me while I was there. I ordered some fried veggie mandu and the bulgogi and rice, 2 of my favorite items. The appetizers and all of the crunchy veggies like the kimchee, radishes etc, were all very delish. I hate to say this but the bulgogi was just "Meh", it lacked any real depth of flavor like I used to get in Korea and other restaurants. I was not impressed at all and I don't think I finished it. The rice was very mushy too so my initial experience as far as the actual meal was just okay. The restaurant is lovely inside and very cozy and the wait staff was EXCEPTIONAL and so attentive. I may give it another try but will try another dish to see if it was just the bulgogi. It's nice to see this restaurant in my neighborhood as diversity is key!! read more

Bite of Korea didn't miss. Get the cornsilk tea with honey if you can - it tasted kind of like corn cereal with a nutty, earthy taste. The banchan appetizers were crisp, crunchy, fresh, full of spice / zest / heat. The glass noodles were cooked perfectly, the beef well-seasoned, and the fried egg was a perfectly complement to a great meal. I want to try the drinks next time but had to pass for this visit. We dined at The Bite of Korea 3 years ago for lunch. We love Korean food and have been dining regularly at Korean restaurants in GA, Tokyo and Osaka for many years. We were looking forward to a good Korean restaurant near by our neighborhood, but so disappointed. They had been open for a little over a year, so we felt the restaurant should have had the kinks worked out by that time. The interior was pleasant. The server was courteous, but lacking knowledge of their food. (To be fair, it may have changed by now) Panchan (little plates that come with dinner) was very disappointing. Limited varieties of literary a tiny bite on 3-4 plates. We were told to ask for seconds if we wish. I understand looking at the clients who were mostly older non Asians (I was the only Asian there), so most likely the restaurant did not want to waste food. Panchan was just okay. We've had much better ones. Seafood Pageon (pancake) was skimpy on seafood and Dolsot Bibimbap (hot stone bowl) was okay. Korean boneless fried chicken serving was skimpy and extremely sweet! Everything we ordered were tasted on the sweet side. I've never had food that tastes so sweet at other Korean restaurants, so the impression of this restaurant was food geared toward non Asians. Our non Asian neighbors love their food. (I've been to a Vietnamese restaurant like that where all their food were sweet. Mother-in-law loved it!) I have mixed feelings on this place. I'm not sure if I ordered a dish that authentically comes with heavy sauce slopped on it or if they are doing that for non Korean taste buds. A bit more context.....Recently I ate at an authentic Korean restaurant, tasting an entire table full of different dishes where sauces were infused, accompanied and elevated the taste profile, I loved every dish and I thought this place would be the same. A BOK, everything was going well from getting seated right away and having a nice attentive server. There are small apps that came without being ordered. Pickled daikon and kimchi sliced cucumber and they both were surprisingly great! The menu options seemed limited. I wanted the short ribs, La Galbi but it only gave the option to order a shareable plate. No option for a smaller plate for 1 person. That really sucks.... So I had a bit if trouble picking what I ordered and settled on the Gochujang chicken rice bowl. The description says drizzled with sauce...... The entire chicken portion was SLOPPED with sauce. Extremely disappointing. Sauces should compliment the dish but this was more of, I ordered sauce with a side of chicken and rice. I know this isn't a 5 star restaurant but glopping sauce on food, is disgusting. Now, although my review isn't that great, my husband ordered a non slopped dish and enjoyed it. They have a bar (really cool cocktails). Inside outside seating. Menu items include a few appetizers, and menu includes Korean fusion items. They even have a kimchi Bloody Mary, very creative. I like the condiments (not sure if pickled radishes, cucumbers and kimchi are considered condiments - excuse my ignorance). It was a great compliment to my meal. read more

Went here based on all the rave reviews and the Kentucky fried mushrooms that looked amazing. Personally I wasn't impressed by the taste of the food, but the portions and preparation were noteworthy. I came here with friends for dinner. The service was good and I liked the bartender and her sassiness. The restaurant was kind enough to let us stay 30 minutes past closing time. My friends and I ordered a pitcher of Mohito which was delicious a d strong. I had ordered sweet and spicy fried portabella which was a lot of and delicious but I was hoping it would be spicier. The lunch special was a feast, it came with 7 different items. I felt I was at a Korean Thanksgiving! A salad, main course of KFC, a soupy, a vegetable dumpling, a beef one, fried rice, and a fried veggie. It was all so filling. Easily the best thing was the KFC, the flavor and quality were phenomenal. The dumplings were solid. The only thing I didn't like was the friend rice. It was very bland, and only took two bites. The quesadilla had soooo much meat, not the best I've had, but really solid. The ambience is very casual, close to a fast casual feel but with waiters. I see this more as a lunch spot, or a lets not get dressed up and somewhere kind of place. Don't get to excited about the robot server. It's kind of a gimmick and needs a human escort. I recently tried this Korean fusion restaurant and had a mixed experience. On the plus side, the service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and impressively quick. We were seated right away, and our food came out in no time, which is always appreciated. Ambience was nice and comfortable. However, the food leaned a bit too heavily toward the "fusion" side, and not in the best way. Many of the dishes were overly sweet, almost dessert-like, which overshadowed the deeper, spicier, and more savory flavors I typically expect from Korean cuisine. It felt like the recipes had been heavily Americanized, possibly to cater to a wider audience, but at the expense of authenticity and balance. If you're new to Korean food or enjoy sweeter flavors, this spot might still work for you. But if you're craving more traditional or boldly flavored dishes, this might not hit the mark. Now when I think soy I think just salt, but this was DELICIOUS and extremely flavorful. Food: This was a full meal. Soup. Salad. Veggies. Rice and Entree. I've never had fried sweet potato but I can see this in my life. A real fried onion ring. The clarity of the broth and the tastefulness of the soup, just perfection. The vegan Fried Chicken was very tasty and had a good texture. The scallion pancakes were okay I've had better at other restaurants, they tasted a little bit burnt. We were pleased with the restaurant as far as decor, ambience, friendliness, cleanliness, and service. The prices were also good, less than most Atlanta sit-down places with similarly starred reviews, and portions were a good dinner size. My main issue is that I specifically wanted scallion pancakes because we can't buy them anywhere near where we live in Tennessee. The pajeon pancake they have here is similar to a Chinese scallion pancake in that it is the same shape, has scallions, and is fried. What it is missing is the thin layers and the taste of what I'm familiar with. That isn't necessarily the restaurants fault, but I was disappointed since we only chose this restaurant based on my craving for the pancakes. I couldn't even eat one whole slice out of the pizza-sized portion. Our younger teen also didn't like it at all. My husband thought it was OK but not good enough to keep eating. That left one in our party who actually liked it enough to box up the leftovers, but he's a growing teenager and eats everything. 3/10 My husband's bulgogi and rice bowl was good, but it's a lot to eat with basically just one flavor. 8/10 My younger kid got the Korean fried chicken with a side of rice, and we both thought it was really good. 10/10 My older teen got the portabella with glass noodles and rice. We thought that the glass noodles were a bit flavorless, and rice is obviously just unflavored white rice. The mushrooms were lightly flavored, but overall the dish was bland. He wished he'd ordered something else. 3/10 We didn't like the food enough to visit again even if we lived nearby, but if you order something you like then you'll probably have a good experience. The right amount of attention and good vibes/energy. I ordered the sausage and fried rice rolls skewer. The sauces were delicious, and I loved the texture of the rice rolls. I also ordered the chicken bowl. I loved the chicken and the rice but the veggie choice was shredded lettuce (romaine probably) and I was not a fan. A nice mix of cabbage, carrot and corn would have been better. They have wine specials on Wednesday and soju specials on Thursdays.
