Such a fun speakeasy in Anaheim Packing House. Visited a couple times now, once for their Halloween (Harry Potter) experience. The updated ambiance is cute. I wouldn't recommend going with a bunch of friends, it's a small space so I found myself speaking in a low voice and we couldn't hear eachother across the way. Possibly for a date night would be perfect. Think twice about asking for a separate check, you'll get the comment of "being difficult". Putting three drinks and a burger on a separate check was "difficult" to our bartender. Wasn't really expecting that side ways comment after an okay night. This place is very interesting. I feel like it might be a bit over romanticized. Most of the reason why I deducted stars was due to the fact that they don't really communicate well with their guests. I made a reservation for my husband's birthday dinner, he doesn't drink (I know, it's a speak easy, he wanted to come) I made a reservation for 4 and no where was is stated that there was a chance I would be sitting at a bar and not a table suitable for 4 people. When we arrived we were sat at the bar. My first instinct was that maybe we would wait for our table and order a drink there but no that's where we were all night. It's fine and I knew going into it that it was going to be small but I had no idea that my husband wouldn't be able to talk to anyone except his neighbor for the whole meal and if I would have known this was a possibility I would have made reservations elsewhere for the specific occasion. The food is base level ok. It's not bad but it's nothing great, it would have been nice to know that the goat cheese dip was served cold, The Mac and cheese was great the chicken was okay the corn dogs were good and the burger was a burger. I love absinthe and was excited to do a full set up, the bartender talked us out of it though? I was annoyed at this, I told them I liked Absinthe but he seemed hell bent onus not getting it. I ordered the absinthe cocktail and it was INCREDIBLE. honestly it was so delicious everyone in our group ended up ordering it. I guess it was cool that he swayed us from my original order but also, I knew what I wanted and it would have equaled more of a tip for him as that was 3x more expensive. I would come here again for the drinks but make reservations for dinner elsewhere. My wife and I went here for our anniversary. Needles to say, we enjoyed the whole experience. Our anniversary was on Monday so there was barely anyone in the bar, which we loved. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday on 1/20, we were lost for about 10 min trying to find it, we just kept passing it. Finally we asked a worker if he knew where the place was and we found our way. I expected to have a much better experience and was disappointed since we were celebrating, but it is just not a place to surprise someone else. First, it is extremely small!! I expected it to be bigger :/. Second, the smell!!! It's is so overwhelmingly strong with all the scents of the drink making and cinnamon burning, so if you're sensitive to strong scents I do not recommend it. Towards the end we were a bit nose blind to it but the smells do come and go. It is also pretty dark. Third, I saw the bartender try a drink with a straw then flipped the straw and wiped it on her shirt and tried another drink, not very hygienic at all. She didn't sip it but she put her finger over the straw to get the liquid out, but still kinda gross. Fourth, we only got fries but they were pretty good! Just not a very big variety of food which I get being a speakeasy. My boyfriend got the Jack Frost and Early to Ryes and he really enjoyed them both! I got the Islands in the Heavens and I didn't enjoy it very much, the design was really nice but it was so overpowering I would drink water after every sip. Our bartender was very attentive though, always checking in! I will say it is definitely a place you go to just to enjoy drinks in a very intimate and dark place. My review is largely in reference to the food experience. This place was such a disappointment. Cool ambiance, yes, but overpriced and underwhelming. There was such a meager selection of dishes, the entrées were shockingly small and above all, none of the food was better than average. If you're going to go, go for the cocktails on date night. The drinks were at least more creative and satisfying and the absinthe was good quality, but don't be surprised by the exorbitant prices. If I were just rating cocktails I'd give 4 stars (maybe 5 if they actually had the drink I wanted to try). Overall though, I don't think this place is quite to the caliber the other reviews suggest and I can't roll my eyes hard enough at the time limit. read more

Our bartender, China, was amazing! I was expecting this to be some overrated bar with mediocre eats riding on the coat tails of the speakeasy trend, but I can admit when I'm wrong. I make a point of checking out speakeasies and cocktail bars anytime I visit a new city, and I've visited some of the best in the world. The Blind Rabbit is by far the best in Orange County, and in my top few (I can't pick just one) internationally. Robert and Ying, the owners, are true cocktail aficionados. They are passionate about what they do and I have had wonderful conversation with each of them, learning something new each time. The Blind Rabbit consistently produces drinks that I have trouble matching at any other cocktail bar. The ambiance here is classic 1920s style. The inside is dimly lit, closer resembling candlelight, and the mixologists and barbacks are dressed the part. There's a dress code for patrons, so make sure you look your best as well! You enter through a fake wall of sake barrels and exit through a bookshelf, in true speakeasy fashion. The restaurant has been in the top romantic restaurants on Yelp, so it's a great dinner date spot. The food is good (I love the truffle burger with egg), but not why I usually go, so I'll skip to the drinks. One of my favorite all time drinks is a creation of The Blind Rabbit. It's called The Boy From Detroit, and it's a whiskey based cocktail with coffee infused campari, amaro, mole bitters, vanilla, and smoked cinnamon. Their English Milk Punch is also outstanding. If you want a drink with a show, get the Wait For It and they'll set the drink and serving tray on fire in front of you. They have a rotating menu and these aren't always on it, so make sure to ask for them by name. Pro tip: Go on a Saturday or Sunday during lunch. It's not crowded, the dress code is more casual, and there's no 90 minute time minute, so you can hang out and chat with the bartenders. Otherwise, get a reservation for dinner far in advance. Rumor is, Robert and Ying are opening up a new project this year not too far away called Strongwater. I know I can't wait to try it! read more

I don't really know that there are words that can describe my experience at The Blind Rabbit. From the minute I walked in, until I walked out, the service was without the best I've ever had. The ambience of The Blind Rabbit is second to none. I felt like I was partaking in the movie and a scene from The Hobbit, a moment at The Shire. But for me, what made this place was our server Vanessa. Her welcome and her personality was fitting and perfect for this place. I bartended and served in my early 30's and she undoubtedly is the best I've had as a server. Her knowledge of the Holiday drink menu as well as the regular menus was as if she wrote it by hand. Not only will I return, but I will return regularly and I will return when Vanessa works. I recommend this place to any and everyone who wants a quality artistic cocktail with service that makes you feel like you're the most important guest in there. read more

This is hands down one of my favorite speakeasies in the states! Not only are the craft cocktails perfectly made, but the experience is one to never forget! I'm going to section this out, because every single person here contributes to the awesome experience at The Blind Rabbit. Hostess/Entrance: The first time my boyfriend and I came to this bar, we had no idea what to expect. We found The Blind Rabbit on TripAdvisor, and had no idea how to navigate Anaheim Packing House or how to even find it! When we did, we were greeted by Becky, and oh man did she make us feel so excited about the place. We came on a weekend and naturally it was busy! She told us about the reservation policy, and gave us some history on the place. She was SO polite and nice about everything, we just couldn't help but wait and hope we get in! We had no problem with doing that because she made us excited for it and we knew it would be worth it. After some waiting and checking out the rest of the stores, we were able to get in and Becky gave us the introduction and walked us through the hidden door into the best speakeasy around. Since that first time, my boyfriend and I have been back COUNTLESS times, and I honestly can say that if it hadn't been for Becky impressing us so much from the very beginning, we probably would've not come in, and would have never discovered how amazing this place is. Thank you so much Becky. Bartenders/Mixologists: We've been back so many times since our first experience, and every single time it's still as wonderful and fun as the first time. We've gotten to meet more of the bartenders over the visits, and each one is a true master of their craft. You can clearly see these people know what they're doing, and they love doing it! Irwin, Nickel (Nikki), Vanessa, and Alisha have been a few of our absolute favorites. They are true gems in this industry! We love bringing our friends here, and these people make such an impression on everyone we bring! Setting/Decor: The entire inside is decorated with the Speakeasy vibe. From entering through a hidden door (and hidden Rabbit handle) to the piano, books, and Bookcase exit... this is such a cool experience! The checkbooks are actual books! Some of them even have stamps from years ago and it's so cool to see which one you'll get next. I've been to a few speakeasy style bars all over the US and this one is definitely a top contender. Overall, this is definitely an experience you should have. Make a reservation, talk to the bartenders, be adventurous with cocktails, and try the amazing food! And to those reviews about "racism"... GROW UP! Make a reservation like an adult and stop relying on your looks to "get you in ahead of the line". My husband and I went here on a date night and we were not let down! This speak easy bar was the experience my husband and I needed to the celebrate the end of a work week. I made reservations on yelp about two weeks in advance. If you've never been here before, the entrance may be a little hard to find since it's, you know, hidden! Once inside you are literally shut out from the rest of the world, which was awesome! This bar is super cozy. My husband and I got bar seating, which was awesome because we got to see the bartenders work their magic, like literally. I've never seen so many techniques being used to infuse flavors into different cocktail drinks! I'm so sad that I can't remember the name of the cocktail (you really just need one, because although the drink was like nothing I've had before in my life, it had some kick to it!) because it was ridiculously delicious! I've NEVER had a scrumptious cocktail until I visited this place. You are alloted 90 minutes to eat, drink, and be merry, which I think is awesome to keep wait times low. The kitchen is open until 8:45pm. My husband ordered the blind rabbit burger and I ordered the fish and chips. I think I'm going to order the blind rabbit burger next time! I came here for dinner/drinks on Saturday night after I'd made a very big deal about needing to come here. Sadly, as much as we both loved the ambience and the whole experience, my date and I were both very underwhelmed. We first ordered a round of drinks, which we both loved. He got the Gangs of New York and I got the cocktail that had Pisco (something about gardens? I don't remember). However, (almost) everything went completely downhill from there. James and the Giant Peach- I hated this drink, but I'm also not a whisky drinker so take that criticism with a grain of salt. Duck Mac and Cheese- We ordered this as an appetizer to share and after a couple bites we'd both decided that it was and I quote, "kinda good but also kind of really disgusting." This was our own fault though, neither of us are big fans of duck and the fuck flavor is VERY strong in this dish. Would not order again. Loaded Tots- I thought this was fine, he thought it was mediocre at best. The tots did not hold up and had turn into a weird fried mashed potato type thing, so it definitely wasn't the best. Probably would not order again. Buffalo Chicken Sliders- He ordered this as his entree. Interestingly, the buffalo sauce for these sliders comes on the side. We both agreed this was just "okay." Would not order again. Burger- Good. However, when it first came out the my burger bun was black because it was literally burnt to a crisp. I pointed it out to our waiter who profusely apologized, brought me out a new one and comped us for it. I thought the bacon aioli that comes on it was overpowering, however this was definitely the best thing we ordered. Fried M&M Cookie Dough Balls- AMAZING. I would come back here just for this. The crispy batted shell + the gooey cookie dough center was fantastic. I would come back, but I would come only for drinks and dessert. Honestly, none of the appetizers /entrees are worth ordering, so go somewhere for dinner and stop by here after afterwards to end your night. read more

I wanted to give this place a 3 and a half star but since they don't do that then I'll give it a 4. The concept of this place is actually really cool. Entry through the barrel side and exit through the book case. When you walk in you got to let your eyes adjust because it's dark in there but once your eyes get use to it, it isn't so bad. Before you make reservations, make sure you don't go in thinking you'll get all these full meal. There's only like about 8 items on there. We only order the burger, Mac and cheese and bone marrow. Duck Mac and cheese was good..burger was too much..big portion but was so much oil that it made the buns fall apart. Waitress barely came to our table so I was stuck with one napkin to wipe all that oil off and no water to drink. Any ways...everyone loves bone marrow... but this place had nothing special about it at all. Two bones with the hard bread...didn't taste like it was seasoned either. All in all...small.. go there esp if you just want to grab a quick drink and something small to snack on then it's the place to go to. Had a super frustrating experience tonight which was sad because we were out to celebrate a close friends birthday. We had a reservation for 8:15pm and were told that the kitchen closes at 8:30 pm...no problem! But when the waitress writes down the wrong order, the wrong food comes out...problem! Then no one checked on us for 10 minutes...one of my friends had dietary restrictions and her food never came. A bartender came but to tell us sorry, but the kitchen was closed and nothing he could do but gave her one free drink. I get the whole speakeasy vibe, but don't be fake. This secret speakeasy in the Anaheim packing district is really awesome! The experience of looking for the place and discovering it in an unassuming and obscure area was really entertaining. Finding how to get out was equally interesting as everything looks like they shouldn't move. The most entertaining part is seeing the reactions on peoples faces when you exit the bar through another inconspicuous place. We sat by the entrance so it was fun to see all the people who look surprised and afraid to come in when they open the door. The staff is really friendly and nice here. I like their house rules. I wanted hot water and they were nice to go get it from a restaurant next door. My friend ordered the peach old fashioned and he said it was really good and liked the gigantic styled ice cube in it. We also had a tater tots which was pretty tasty. I'm not that big of a mashed tater tot fan because I like the whole one you can pop in your mouth but it was still pretty good. The ambiance gets five stars. It's dark and vintage in a classy and artistic way. Love it. Will return. read more
