Moscow Mule
Allie G.

Sadly, I wasn't a huge fan of The Blue Crab. We visited for dinner on a Saturday night, having made a reservation in advance. However, the reservation wasn't necessary, considering the place was mostly empty. The space was also massive - three large dining rooms - it almost looked like two restaurants joined into one. The ambiance was very casual and we were seated in a booth near one of the exits. For drinks, I decided to try the Blueberry Mojito, which was a mistake. I generally love mojitos, but this one tasted like soda with juice in it - wayyyy too sweet. Our server was nice enough to let me exchange it for wine, since I really didn't want to drink it. However, my friend's Moscow Mule was better. They also brought over some complimentary potato chips with a creamy horseradish dipping sauce. I wasn't super hungry so I ended up just ordering the Cream of Crab Soup, which was very tasty! My friend got a half dozen oysters, which also weren't bad. Overall though, I probably wouldn't return.

After a 7 Hour Dr., we arrived at Bethany Beach at 7 o'clock at night and decided to go out to eat. The hotel recommended the blue crab so we walked there and were greeted by a friendly staff. The atmosphere didn't look great and we had our doubts. however, our waitress was very pleasant and promptly brought us two frosty cold beers, and we ordered steam shrimp and the crabcakes. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and presentation of the food. Generous portions and fair prices. We'll be back for steamed crabs next!

The blue crab feast. Came with corn on the cob, hush puppies, and fried chicken.

Visiting from Florida so we had to stop in for some blue crabs. The server was very attentive and checked on us multiple times. The restaurant wasn't fancy by any means but perfect to enjoy our seafood. We received a bucket for the shells and loved all the tools they provided. I had never had vinegar to dip my crab in but that was fun. The hush puppies were also great.

Second round of crab fest!

Friends and I came here for ayce crab feast! Man this place did not disappoint. Our waitress was great! She made sure we had everything we needed. I had a very refreshing blueberry mojito :) Ok to the crab! We got tons of medium sized male crabs that had tons of meat :) The meat tasted really fresh and the seasoning didn't make the crabs too salty and we enjoyed picking the crabs. The crab feast came with unlimited hush puppies, corn and fried chicken. Hush puppies were okay, corn was pretty good and omg the fried chicken was super delicious! I couldn't stop eating it (it was kinda salty so I stopped after awhile lol). We ate our fill and left the restaurant feeling stuffed and happy :) would def. Recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to do ayce crabs :)

Crab Dip

I visited the Blue Crab a few days ago with my family and had a very pleasant experience. Our waitress, unfortunately I don't remember her name, was beyond wonderful! She was so friendly and on top of things. She might even be the best waitress we had at any restaurant during our time in Bethany! Our family gets crab dip at pretty much every restaurant we visit, and out of many other restaurants, Blue Crab's crab dip topped our list. It's so creamy and rich with giant chunks of crab meat. The bread is soft and tasty that pairs perfectly with the dip! 1000000/10 for the crab dip! I ordered a steamer platter. It was all good, a little on the cold side. But I was full and satisfied at the end of the meal, so I guess it was a successful meal. The restaurant is a little plain looking on the inside, but I think I like that it's not so flashy and more of a "hometown" feel. We also greatly appreciate who we believe to be the owner stopping by our table to check in on our meal. A very kind gentleman who appears to be a class act business man. The Blue Crab is a wonderful family restaurant operated by wonderful people. I wish my meal was a bit warmer, but I won't hold that against them! We will be back!

Always a pleasure! We started with the best housemade chips and dip and split the mussels. Nice selection of beers and interesting citrus crushes! Fun place to crack crabs - comfortable and clean. Lots of space, roomy and airy. All you can eat crabs come with sweet corn, fried chicken and hush puppies. All are delicious! Had the beef tenderloin with mushrooms-perfectly cooked and a nice alternative if cracking isn't your thing. Key Lime pie was tart and creamy with a sweet graham crust. We made a reservation online so there was no wait. Grace was very attentive and checked in a bunch of times during our long stay. We go a few times over the summer and are always happy crab crackers!

Tasty Chargrilled Oysters even if they are $27 for ONLY 1/2 dozen!!

We decided to tryout this restaurant because of the great reviews & it was a hit for 3 out of the four of us!! Not pictured are a full rack of baby back ribs my nephew ordered. He said they were probably the best tasting ribs he'd ever eaten!! My Aunt ordered a crab cake sandwich w/ff, hush puppies & cream of crab soup. She was totally disappointed with her entire meal due to both the crab cake being & cream of crab soup being tasteless. My mother ordered the crab cake sandwich also, but the waitress forgot to put the order in. Anyway, mom ate off my & my nephews plate!! Our waitress was very nice but couldn't answer any questions we asked about the food.

We absolutely loved Blue Crab! My family and I were staying in Rehoboth Beach in a mini vacation and found this place through Yelp! We were all in the mood for crabs and boy, this just hit the spot! Huge dining room, however we chose to dine outdoors in one of their wood picnic benches protected by a huge sun umbrella! The service was exceptional! Attentive, friendly and fast! We ordered two family crab feasts! Oh my!!! Everything was solo good!!! From the fried chicken to crabs! Blue Crab is really a gem! Affordable, great food and excellent service!

Our first visit took place on Mother's Day around 4:00 PM. Because brunch was still being served and dinner didn't begin until 4:15 PM, I booked a table for two, and we passed the time at the bar. We caught some live music while I enjoyed a $16 Maker's Mark Manhattan before settling the bar tab. Once dinner service opened at 4:15 PM, we were seated inside at table 45 to escape a breezy outdoor deck. It turned out to be the debut day for their new menu. I ordered another $16 Maker's Mark Manhattan and the $36 seafood stew--a rich combination of fish, clams, shrimp, fennel, pepper, onion, Spanish chorizo, and tomato seafood broth accompanied by grilled bread. It was a generous portion, so I brought the remaining stew home to enjoy later that evening. To conclude the meal, I tried the Lucky 7 porter from Evolution Craft Brewing Company ($7), which featured dark dried fruit and sweet toffee tones balanced by notes of chocolate, coffee, and smoke. Our server, Brendan V., did an excellent job caring for us and demonstrated great knowledge of the new menu, even while managing a large outdoor table with five children. Our total bill for that evening came to $114, excluding gratuity. We returned on Memorial Day for a second dinner, this time in a group of five that included family and a friend visiting from Scottsdale, AZ. Since the outdoor fire tables were completely full, we secured a table on the left side of the restaurant. I began with a spicy mango margarita for $14, which featured tequila, mango, lime, agave, jalapeno, and a tajin rim, and opted for the $36 seafood stew once again. Unfortunately, the cocktails were inconsistent this time; I ordered a Maker's Mark Manhattan up, but it tasted like watered-down bourbon. When a second Manhattan tasted exactly the same, I decided to cancel the order. Nevertheless, our server Nadine K. provided excellent service throughout the evening, and our bill came out to $92 before gratuity. Ultimately, we all agreed that we would gladly visit again.

All food had outstanding flavor and all things were cooked perfectly. The short rib rub was thoughtfully done and you didn't even need a knife to cut though it. We also loved the creativity of the fruity pebbles in the dessert. Wait staff was a bit slow, sea bass was a bit dry but amazing skin on it, and the price was a bit high ($80) and that's coming from someone who lives in DC. Overall great place for a special night.

You know they are both the same owner or at least the same franchise even though slightly different names and a slight different array of offerings. This location at the inside area of the same plaza has seating and more seafood. They use quality bread for their oyster po-boy and and use slightly different ingredients compared to the po-boy at DB-Fries. I forget what the ingredients were at both places- you can investigate yourself, lol. I just wanted good food and to stay out of the slight rain on this particular day. The fries are fresh and well done. Better than Thrashers imo and not a line. Looking back, I probably should've gotten the lobster roll here and the po-boy at Henlopen instead because at Henlopen, it's a combination of seafood instead. Nonetheless, the seafood here was fresh and if it's not a bad day and love seafood, you probably can't really make a wrong choice Staff here is friendly.

The coleslaw had what I believe to be horseradish or something in it that set it aside from all the other local ones. It was super tasty. The fries were decent but nothing special just all around good fries (maybe the need a special sauce for those to set them off). Service was short and to the point and not much of a vibe or ambiance for a snack shack style.

We were first here with our friends around 4 PM on Friday for happy hour at the bar. I enjoyed my two pineapple juice with vodka for $5 each. I also enjoyed my whole one pound steamed lobster with drawn butter and a choice of two sides for $30. I enjoyed my two favorite sides namely the asparagus and sweet potato fries. My total bill was $70. I redeemed my $25 Toast birthday credit to my bill so my net cost was reduced from $70 down to $45. I also applied my balance to my gift card from November 2024, excluding gratuity. I returned here again around 4 PM with my friend for happy hour on lobster Tuesday. I enjoyed my two rum and cokes for $5 each. I also enjoyed my two Big Oyster Midnight Kraken draft stout beers in a snifter also for $5 each. I also enjoyed my lobster tail jambalaya for $22, which I was able to finish this time, since the quantity was decreased due to inflation. My total bill was $41.50 excluding gratuity, which again I used my gift card. We agreed we will continue to return here for happy hour.

The place was lively with the sound of the trivia game that was going on. Fortunately, we were seated in their dining area where things were a bit quieter. I ordered the fiery fingers (buffalo chicken tenders) and my son ordered the fried shrimp platter. Firstly, my chicken fingers, were literally the "best" I've ever had! No joke, they were fried with a light crispy breading and seasoned to perfection, not too hot, but just the right amount of spicy! My son enjoyed his shrimp and had nothing but good things to say about his meal - except for one little thing. He thought that for the price, they could have maybe added a couple more shrimp to the order (he had only eight). Other than that - Cottage Cafe is fantastic and five stars to the chef and staff!
