Great crabs for a hefty price tag. It is $60 for a dozen of crabs and $5 for each corn on the cob. The blue crab feast is about $43 but it comes with corn, hush puppies and fried chicken. Personally, as someone who needs to eat about 16 crabs to feel full, I would have gotten the blue crab feast. Unfortunately, I went with people who average about 6 crabs each.. so 4 people shared 2 dozen crabs. The crabs had a good amount of meat in them and were all medium size. Knocking a star off for service. Although the staff was very friendly, we had to ask our server multiple times for water and we didn't actually get our water until 30 minutes after we were seated. We also only saw our server at the beginning and end of our meal, and not at all during. That being said, I think this is a solid crab house that is conveniently located not far from Bethany Beach. Maryland Blue crab season is in full swing here! I've been down to the Maryland area for blue crab before and have often been disappointed with the preparation, too much or too little seasoning. Blue crab has got it right! I ordered the all you can eat feast and boy did I feast! Other than the perfectly cooked crabs, the fried chicken and shrimp included in the feast were also delicious. The crabs served were strangely green, not the yellow "mustard" as is typical. We tried a couple, but sent them back. The manager said it was because of all the rain and them eating sea grass. I've been eating crabs for 40 years and never saw anything like that. The waiter was really terrible. He said he usually tended bar, yet couldn't answer a single question about beer. If you are really hungry then this place is for you. They have AYCE feasts!!! Great option but too much food for me. They even offer a kids menu option at $16.95 but not sure how many under 10 really eat THAT much. They offer complimentary homemade chips to start off. We knew we were having snow crab legs contrary to the common Maryland ones so popular in the area and they were delicious. The crab dip was filled with fresh chunks of crab and a thick layer of melted cheddar. (By the way, it serves more than two). Nice size portions. However, a little disappointed that they were out of the fresh catch and the only other fish option was tacos. The food and service is excellent, but we have one serious concern, they bleached the bathrooms while customers were still eating. We were unaware of this and took our toddler in to use restroom. The bleach was so strong,it was difficult to breathe. We noticed later in the evening that the bleach actually ruined her pants. The manager offered to compensate the cost but our true concern was the use of straight bleach while customers are still eating. This was a potential health hazard. I wish it was better. Hit it Labor Day weekend and it appeared all the Eastern European waitresses just arrived back in town and were trying to get reacquainted with their roles. We arrived before the major rush but the restaurant was still crowded. They have now added a raw bar next door as well. Service started out super attentive and fast but as it got more crowded we noticed a definite drop-off in service and it is a little disconcerting to see the waitresses actually running around. Kids meals were wrong but we kept them to keep moving. The cream of crab soup was dreamy. The mussels were cold, suffering from a lack of broth and just plain limp. The crab cakes were a bit dry and also not absolutely off-the-broiler hot and tasty. The wait for our check and credit card receipt was interminable and cost the waitress a few bucks in tip because by this point the family was waiting outside and antsy to move on. Also, it's a pretty big place to have one male and one female single seater bathrooms. The Blue Crab is way cleaner than Mickey's and you don't have flies all over the place and we want to like it. The Blue Crab is one of my favorite places to eat when you are visiting Bethany Beach. My family and I always stop by for lunch or dinner when we are in Bethany Beach and we are never disappointed. We are not alone because when ever you go there is at least a twenty to forty minute wait list. The last time we were there, we went to the bar area and ate calamari and fresh oysters. I am not a huge fan of oysters, but these oysters were almost sweet and had a hearty taste. I felt like I had found the pearl of all oysters, also known as Chesapeake oysters. The seafood is fresh and prepared with attention to detail. The calamari was delicately fried and had a rich marinara sauce for dipping. That certainly helped pass the time waiting for a table. When we were seated,we ordered our main meal. I always order the all you can eat crabs. It comes with corn, hush puppies, fried chicken, and all you can eat crabs. Everything was terrific, but my only concern was the restaurant was out of both large and jumbo crabs. The mediums were prepared perfectly, but they were smaller and took a lot more work to enjoy the delectable crabmeat. One of the other diners ordered the crab cakes. They were prepared with huge chunks of crabmeat and absolutely no filler. Another diner ordered the blackened fish meal. It was artfully prepared and had a fabulous spicy taste. The macaroni and cheese was rich,creamy, and delicious. As usual, we left, stuffed to the gills and feeling happy. I almost broke into Pharell Williams song, "Happy!"as we left the restaurant to take a walk on the boardwalk. read more

SO GOOD. From the outside it doesn't look like much - but once you enter the place is clean calm and ready to serve. Had the cream of crab soup for lunch and ordered fried chicken by the piece - both were excellent. My friend had the chicken salad sandwich which was served with homemade chips. Good stuff. This is a great place for seafood, or if you are looking for something that didn't come out of the sea - both are done very well. Kudos! I was happy they seated the five of us after only a few minutes on a Thursday night in the summer. We ordered sodas, beer, 18 crabs and a fried shrimp platter in addition to a bowl of MD Crab Soup and Cream of Crab. The Cream of Crab was good, but there was not a lot of chunks of crab within the soup. The MD Crab was prepared with chicken stock instead of beef stock but was good anyway. Traditionally, it is made with beef stock. We waited a bit and the waitress said our food was taking awhile, so we got free fries/chips which were good. Our crabs came out but the shrimp platter was taking longer, which they apologized for....it took about 15 more minutes for the shrimp to come out. The crabs were okay...they were not local and two were bad so I sent them back for replacements since it was $54 for a dozen. The shrimp was pretty good, but we had to shuck the corn ourselves. It was sweet and tasty but pretty hot to shuck barehanded. Our drinks were refilled consistently, the service was good but the crabs were just okay for the price we paid. Had a great dinner at Blue Crab. My wife had the all lump crab cakes which we're ALL lump with very little breadcrumbs to bind it. It lacked some seasoning, but a good quality crabcake. I had the shrimp feast which included steamed shrimp (nicely seasoned with Old Bay), a super sweet corn on the cob, great hush puppies, and awesome fried chicken. I would definitely get it again! Would have gotten the crab feast, but we just had crabs the night before. The homemade chips with horseradish dipping sauce was also very good and addictive. I had to grab the hostess and show her that we had not been greeted after 15 minutes in order for her to "find" our waitress. The food choices were limited and not all that appealing. A trip to the bathroom revealed puke on the floor that looked like it had been there a while. OK so we read the positive reviews about this place and went on a weeknight -- got a table quickly which was good. Then started the bad. We had a young waitress, among a group there serving people around 8 PM. Too often through our 90 minutes or so we found ourselves having to ask another server to fetch our girl back to the table. This continued through to our getting the check. My wife got the all you can eat crabs, but soon found that most of them were small, rather than mediums, and many were pretty much empty -- this despite the newspaper articles in the place in which the owner boasts about his supplier. I got the crab cakes and sorry to say they were just mediocre. And the green beans were overlooked. It was lunch, so I didn't see the full menu and really wanted the fried chicken, but the only fried chicken listed was the all you can eat feast. Ooof! Too much. Thankfully, the waitress told us that you can order most things ala carte. Perfect! I got two fried chicken breasts and a side of hush puppies for $9.00. The chicken was really good. I'm not much of a skin eater on fried chicken, but I definitely nibbled on some of it here. And the hush puppies were SO good. It was a huge lunch for me but just try not to finish those suckers. Try. Not possible. My man got a soft shell crab sandwich, served with potato chips. He described it as "good." (Sorry folks, that's all we'll ever get out of his positive assessments.)
