Typically not a huge fan of coming to The Boiling Crab these days given that the menu is limited compared to other seafood boil restaurants and the line is always long. But my friend wanted to do her birthday here, so we came. Waited nearly two damn hours before sitting down, but what can you do. Anyways, got four pounds of shrimp, one pound of clam, some sausages, and some potatoes with The Whole Sha-Bang. Wasn't feeling like paying premium price for king crab. Shrimp was fine, plenty of flavor as expected. I'm not really a potato guy, but they were actually pretty good with the sauce. And of course I always love me some sausages. Service is great here. They made sure to keep filling up our waters and bring gloves over, which you will need many of since the oil actually seeps through the gloves. Definitely were taken care of. One of the staple places for shrimp boil, and I'm so glad I visited this location in LA. Located in a shopping plaza, there is plenty of parking in nearby lots and a lively ambiance to walk around. They started to fill up around 12:30pm on a Sunday, and my large party of 10 got seated in 15-20 min. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and a handwashing station (comes in super handy for a big party!) My go to order is a pound of shrimp, the whole shebang, mild (5/5), and this location delivered. Food was out for our party in about 20 min. We also got the Cajun fries (5/5), side orders of rice, and potatoes and corn on the inside of our bags. I love dipping my peeled shrimp back in the sauce, and in the lemon, salt, and pepper mixture. The food is always amazing whichever boiling crab I go to. Yes the line to wait to get seated was ridiculous my party and I waited for an hour and a half! Once we sat down the service was great, the servers were all attentive of our wants and needs. I asked the server if I could have more limes because I love my shrimp lemony and the server with no hesitation brought me more. The ambiance well my party loved the fact that we were in a booth and kind of on our own which was refreshing from being in the sea of hungry people out there waiting to get seated. WE decided to come here for New Year's Eve dinner and not surprisingly, it was packed. We put our name down and walked around for a bit as we were told the wait would be 45 minutes. No big deal. We said we'd take the first available table which turned out to be outside. It was a bit cold but we were summoned back after about 30 minutes. We ordered king crab and shrimp with the medium spicy sauce and some corn and potatoes. In only a couple minutes of big bag of seafood arrived. We gloved up (I brought my own latex gloves as the loose plastic ones provided aren't quite as good.) and we hunkered down. The crab was tasty and big and the shrimp were nice. The corn seemed a bit overcooked but still pretty nice. The potatoes were good too. All in all it was 130 dollars including the tip but of course, seafood is expensive. Service was friendly and ambiance was nice even though it was a bit cold on the patio. Happy New Year! We'll be back again someday soonish. read more

Took my husband and the family to Boiling Crab yesterday for the first time in a long time. I had been going to a competitor for a minute I guess avoiding the long evening wait. I decided to go to the Burbank location because I thought we'd have a shorter wait but no, that was not the case. My family put our name down at 6:33 and was called at 8 to finally be seated. While waiting we did some shopping to pass the time. We were seated pretty quickly. The table was outside and it was a little chilly but prefer to be where there is fresh air. The table was covered in plastic wrap and we ordered. Our server was Honey and her and the other staff were really nice. They brought out the sauces, lime, salt etc. All of our food had made it to our table within twenty minutes. We ordered onion rings, fries, king/snow crab, corn. My husband and I got the whole shabang, and the kids, plain butter. The food was all good and so was the service ! No complaints from my family. I'm glad we beat the rush because when we were leaving it was packed and heard the wait was 45 mins. Our son ordered with my husband. 2 pounds of shrimp in garlic sauce w/ 5 corns, 4 white rice, fried calamari and $75 King crab legs for our bday boy who picked the spot. For drinks 2 sprites, 1 bud lite & one bud lite michilada. Server was nice but gets really busy and somehow swapped servers during our meal to a female that rarely was attentive. Overall, the food was delicious and you go for the experience but when the check finally arrived she stood there and made my husband and I uncomfortable. We had a reservation for 11 people; 9 of us arrived on time, and 2 friends were on their way. We kindly asked to be seated so we could order while waiting, especially since we were with kids. Unfortunately, we were refused seating until the entire party arrived. The staff's attitude was very rude and unaccommodating, which made the experience uncomfortable and disappointing. I have ordered takeout from this location multiple times. The food is always delicious. After a few years of this I felt the desire to finally try dining in. Big mistake. The restaurant is packed corner to corner with tables and booths tucked against the walls. It feels as though the management felt they could squeeze in a few extra tables to accommodate the high demand. Unfortunately this only made the place feel overwhelming and uncomfortably loud. I made the mistake of arriving on a Saturday. But this should not be the undoing of a wonderful place. The bathroom is in dire need of a mirror at least for the ladies. This place offers a messy meal requiring a bib for all guests why wouldnt you provide a mirror to check for sauce splashes? After an hour and a half wait we were directed outside to a table. In general this is not a deal breaker for me but with the night chill and the small child that had been invited along with our group the lack of any type of heating lamps or barriers from the wind made our meal less enjoyable. We were also not given the option to wait for inside but just hustled outdoors. Lastly, our server did not bring the comfort of a welcoming meal but the rush of the kitchen is shutting down and no longer taking orders so hurry up and order everything you want before we close. Sorry boiling crab but I had higher expectations. You've outgrown your location. Grow up somewhere larger or up your game with higher standards of service. This was my first time at this location and I came with a few people. I haven't eaten at a boiling crab in a few years due to the long wait time. We of course got the many pounds of shrimp with the whole shebang and some of the corn and fries and calamari. YUM YUM YUM. Never a bad time at boiling crab. 3.5 for me! It's been AGES since I've been to Boiling Crab so consider me thrilled when a friend decided he wanted to go for his birthday. Come on a weeknight, people! Maybe it was an unusually slow Wednesday, but we got there early to put our names down anticipating our group of 7 would have to wait an hour, and we didn't "officially" put our names in until about 10 minutes before we wanted to eat! I don't think the wait from about 5:30-6:30 was ever longer than 15-20 minutes. We got a whole feast for the table-- Whole Shebang Shrimp, Crawfish, and Snow Crab Legs with corn, fried catfish and calamari, and Cajun fries. We got both mild and medium spice levels for the shrimp, as I had remembered the medium spice level being pretty spicy the last time I went. To be honest, the medium was perfect and the mild was a little bland! The shrimp, corn, calamari, crab legs, and crawfish were all very good. I'm not an experienced crawfish eater, so maybe this is just how crawfish is/what it normally tastes like, but there seemed to be very little edible meat in ours and something tasted a bit off, if I'm being honest. But today we stopped by right when they opened and there was still about a 45 min wait. It was crazy busy because of the dodger parade, almost everyone in there was wearing dodger blue. Took my mom and aunt here for lunch, going pounds of shrimp with some fries and rice. We sat inside and I love the ambiance inside and the setup of everything because of all the TVs and lots of places to sit down. Been coming to boiling crab for years. Quality is way better than other locations so been coming to this one consistently. A few of the newer servers though just don't provide good service. Past 3 times get sat with the same server and just dont get checked on... go the entire meal without refills.
