Just had breakfast with wife and kids here. I had the cali burrito. Wished there was more meat in it but the side of country potatoes was fresh and delicious. The server was very polite, place was super clean. Best part was we were able to get a table as soon as we walked in at about 11am. All 4 of us got a plate and my little one got a chocolate milk. Ambience was nice and calm we came on a Friday around 10:30am I ordered the ORO pancakes that are supposed to be to have port wine infused strawberries layers and a white creme sauce . Unfortunately strawberries weren't infused they were plain so that made pancakes kinda dry . White creme sauce tasted like a watered down condensed milk. It had a light taste not too sweet. I think if they would have add some of that in the layers it wouldn't have been so dry, after a few bites I decided to use all the pancake syrup and cream the whip topping all over it . Which I never use that much syrup,Couldn't finish them all still too dry. Presentation was gorgeous , I regret not bringing it to the attention of the waitress ( cook must of just forgot tom use the infused strawberries ?) , but I already had to ask for a new coffee as my cup had bright pink lipstick on it. Hate being that customer that nit picks. Especially she was the only waitress I saw and was really doing a good job ! I Will definitely speak up next time. Luckily I have learn to check my cups and glasses before drinking as I know how sticky our lipsticks can be. She was very apologetic and brought me a new coffee. Went this morning with a friend and got the biscuits and gravy. Perhaps my fault but there wasn't any thing in the gravy, very thin and tasted different from any i have had previously. My friend complained about the amount of oils in the build your own omelet the sausage and bacon appears to be fried in deep fryer. I will not be going back. read more

Happened upon this place this morning while visiting Legoland. Nice chilled atmosphere, and not far from hotels in the area. Good size portions and a varied selection. Happy to be the 1st to review this incredible eatery. Very possibly the best breakfast experience I've had living in Carlsbad. Wish I had brought my phone to post a photo of my Chicken Machaca plate topped with fresh avocado slices and in-house made salsa on the side. (Very large meal). The Breakfast Mugs coffee is equally as good as the food here. Beans are roasted right here on the coast and taste like Kona . For a guy who normally dinks 1 cup, I had 3 ! The outside patio is large . All table have umbrellas and plants that separate guest. This newest restaurant emits quality throughout. Surprisingly affordable, ambience and cuisine as well as attentive service. Looking forward to going back for lunch. read more

We went for breakfast. I had two eggs, bacon hash browns and pancakes. The had sugarfree syrup. Also, a hit stack brand black tea. Eggs were perfect easy over, bacon very crunchy, hash browns and pancakes was perfect. I love the hot tea so much I came home and ordered some tea bags. My husband had a breakfast burrito with tea and he really liked it. The ladies that waited on us was very sweet... You don't see the kitchen because it's behind a beautiful wall. It's in area with other restaurants called "The Island". We will be returning. We enjoyed it so much, so beautiful and calming. read more

We found plenty of easy parking in this... what we assume is a busy weekday corporate dining spot that includes a number of other eateries and gas station. There was plenty of available outdoor seating, a water feature, and significant room between tables. There were only two other parties outside with us and no one inside, so given how busy many breakfast places are we made a note of this as it contributed to a very relaxing ambiance! It was a warm day so we sat outside against the wall for some privacy under their large sun umbrella. There was no street noise on this Saturday morning. The service was exceptional, friendly, and quick. The food quality was good and the portions generous. We are locals so will definitely be going back, often. read more

I don't usually post negative reviews but I am hoping this may help them improve. This was our first time dining here. Service - everyone was very nice and welcoming. Ambiance - simple and clean Food - this is where they fell really short. When you walk in they have a sign that states, please have patience as we make all our food to order. I was happy to see that sign but unfortunately that was not the case for our meal. I ordered the two egg breakfast with bacon, hash browns extra crispy and a pancake. I also added a side of fruit. My food came out really fast. My pancake, hash browns and bacon were all lukewarm, you could tell they were premade and sat under a heat lamp. The bacon was stale and the hash browns were pale. My eggs ordered over medium were barley over easy. I never got my side order of fruit. My partner ordered the veggie omelette. It had ingredients in it that were not on the menu and his potatoes were also not made to order, lukewarm and tasted old. For a $30+ breakfast (only drank water) this not does fit the bill. I hope they can improve or at the very least remove the sign that says made to order. They did remove the fruit charge from our bill when requested. In response to the owner: The food was NOT made to order so please don't state that it had been. Your response is unfortunately defensive. As I stated above I can only hope this would help you improve. We did not pay is cash we paid by card. We do not need our money back that was not the purpose of this post. The ambiance was great. The food was ok. What made me write this review was the check out process. We are a family of 6. The gratuity was $20 which we had no problem with ofcourse. When we paid in cash, the waitress took our payment and didn't come back after with our change. Assumed the change was for her to keep. We had planned on giving it to her once we got our receipt and change but she never returned. When we asked for our change and receipt, she seemed shocked that we were asking for it. Came here last weekend after searching for a place to eat between soccer games. The prices are reasonable and the staff is amazing. They were very attentive and had some great recommendations. The restaurant and bathrooms were extremely clean and the atmosphere was very low key and comfortable. I ended up ordering the chilaquiles with steak and they were delicious. They salsa had a nice kick to it and my over easy eggs were cooked to perfection. If I have to go to Carlsbad again for any soccer matches. The Breakfast Mug will definitely be on my list! read more

Easy to find if you know the way. Had to ask in the parking lot where it was. Waiter was very prompt with coffee, but only 3 tables with people at 08:30. One waiter. After 10 minutes another waiter showed up, and took our order. Then we waited and waited. I saw our order taker move towards the kitchen, turned his cap around and never saw him again. I am thinking he was a cook. We continued to wait and saw people getting food before ours. Our order was eggs over hard and scrambled eggs. Thirty (30) minutes later the food showed up. It was OK, proper temperature and all that. But 30 min for food seems a bit long when we were the 3rd table with people. This was Sunday morning breakfast, so the restaurant was much fuller by 9 am and later. The 9 am, wait staff were active about 8;45, so early I think. Pretty noisy music for my taste on Sunday morning, and by nine the place was really noisy. All hard surfaces - high ceilings, hard walls, no sound damping materials were seen. My wife is in a wheel chair. plenty of parking, but a good trek to get from the parking lot to the back of the lunch court. the menu looked very, very good, but we stayed with a tried and true. The entire experience, long trek with a wheel chair, long wait time for breakfast, noisy place did not make for a pleasant experience. Not unpleasant either, but it does not want to make me take my guests there this Sunday. I wish them very good fortune. read more

My breakfast eggs were undercooked, the bacon which was advertised as crisp was anything but. It was undercooked and greasy. The hash browns were ok. The pancake wasn't very good.
