First off, if you are not from Tampa, you may want to visit for lunch or early dinner. Later in the day, this area may be dicey. Read the other reviews, the food choices the point out ate spot on. The peanut butter and Gouda, the Skanky Chai Latte, the Bird and the Pig, all good stuff. The vibe, hip cool meets death metal. The ambiance will either tell your wife/date that you have a secret or they are in for a wild night. I am not much of a drinker, but they had plenty of wine and beer choices. Service was prompt, food was good and after I fired a few shots in the air before heading for my car. The coast was clear. I had a good time at The Bricks of Ybor. The service is really spot on and the quality of the food's pretty good. I had the pulled pork sandwich. It was pretty good. Nothing memorable but what makes this place a four star place are the happy hour beer prices and the interesting art inside. We were in the area for the Florida Cane Distillery tour and tastings, so we decided to have some food first to soak up all the liquor. There's a parking lot conveniently located nearby. I really liked the look of the place and the local art on the walls. I only had water to drink but I appreciated that our waitress brought me a glass bottle so I wouldn't have to wait for her to come by and refill it. My dad said the iced tea was very good. Three of us had the Bird and Pig sandwich, which is roasted chicken, bacon, apple, brie, and honey, on pressed Hawaiian bread, which was delicious. All of the flavors melded together very well, and the bread had a great crunch. The Asian slaw on the side was nice and light; my brother got the potato salad instead, and that was also very flavorful. My dad had the Tasmanian bowl which he seemed to enjoy very much; the shrimp looked delicious across the table. For dessert, my mom and I split the coffee chocolate cake, which was delightful and I really enjoyed the sauce liberally poured atop it. My brother's open-faced ice cream sandwich also looked good, but I didn't try it. In all, a cool place with tasty food. I'll definitely return next time I'm in the area! read more

We were staying next door at the Hampton Inn and this place was super convenient. They had a nice menu. Loved their chicken B-L-T sandwich... can't remember the name. Love, love, LOVE! This place. It has such a open minded and urban atmosphere. There is local art hung for sale and the staff is always friendly. That coupled with the delicious food makes it a match made in heaven. I am so glad my old job used this place to cater because I can't get enough. I am super picky when it comes to veggies but their veggie cuban is beyond words for me. They also have great mac and cheese. I don't even like mac and cheese and I always make sure to order a side here. I went outside of my comfort zone and had one of their side salads and was pleasantly surprised. The Bricks in Ybor is a cool spot to check out. They have a variety of beers and offer a Sunday special drink. Their menu has everything: yummy salads, sandwiches, brisket, and even an Elvis (PB&aJ with bananas and bacon). They also have your basic apps and good vegetarian options. The atmosphere is very relaxed and they have TVs up to catch the game or whatever some cook Skateboard videos. This is a great place for a casual drink or meal And the bar staff is very nice and helpful. I only wish they carried gluten free bread so I could have tried one of their sandwiches! read more

She was fantastic and kept our waters filled on a hot day. The food took a little bit since they were busy. It was worth the wait. We had the popular bird and pig which lived up to the hype. The brie really worked well and gave it that creamy goodness. I had the veggie cuban as suggested by my waitress. I'm not a vegetarian, but for 30 minutes I was on a strict veggie cuban diet. So amazingly good and light if you intend to walk the length of ybor on a full stomach. I understand the criticism that the sandwich portions could be small, especially the bird and pig. We came here for the Goth Brunch on Saturday. We both got the breakfast burritos. The ingredients did not taste fresh at all, and we were kind of sick afterwards. We ordered the liquid heroin drink hot, and it came out kind of cold. The music was kind of all over the place; not really "goth". There was supposed to be a Hocus Pocus theme, but aside from that movie playing on a tv, there was no evidence of it. Very cool place! Even for the kids! The Bricks is a large high ceiling, open wide restaurant with many tables to choose from without being crowded together. My grandkids and I were starving but weren't ready to head home yet. I really wanted a cup of coffee (which a check-in on Yelp) offers for FREE. Free is one of my favorites. Well, at first I thought this is not the right place for the kids. With help from our fabulous waitress we all ate like champs! The hummus with crustini bread is delicious as is the black bean dip (it's called by another name). Our waitress accommodated the kids needs with patience, a smile and genuine interest for full belly exit! There are some sweets on the counter for purchase for your sweet-tooth. Just behind the counter is the shining espresso machine waiting to be brewing for your perfect cup to be ordered. Beside that is a bar with stools and from what I could see a great selection of alcoholic beverages also waiting to be whisked up by the bartender for your tasting. Check this place out. Full disclosure: My experience might just have been an isolated, rare occurrence. I arrived to The Brick and sat myself at the bar. After 15 minutes of zero service I was getting ready to leave but I noticed the waiting staff on the main floor looked active and on top of things. I decided to transition from the lack of service bar to the main floor and, literally, as soon as I sat down I had a waiter hand me a menu, take my drink order and before even a blink I had a Bloody Mary in front on me. Moral of this story, careful sitting at the bar since the service there seemed to be lacking. I'm sure it was the timing since my overall experience was a thumbs up. I ordered the loaded Bloody Mary. The drink was simple but very delightful, clearly proving that less is more. The drink had a little satisfying kick that's normal to any Bloody Mary. Overall- very satisfied with their Bloody Mary, so much in fact I ordered two. Maybe a little more body to it but not a must. Food: I ordered the Tuna BLT with the side of Asian slaw. Overall: GREAT. The theme here is clearly simple. They exploit every taste which is gratifying since that's the most important thing. The slaw was crisp and surprisingly very refreshing. Now, the tuna can only be described as crafted by a masterful craftsman! Yes, I said it. It tasted better than it looked and that's hard todo since it looked as if out of a magazine. This is the second time that I have been here and I have not been disappointed! The first time I came here I have the vegetarian Cuban which was wonderful because I love a good pressed Cuban sandwich but it's hard to find a vegetarian option. The reason why we came here today was because we were excited to learn every Sunday in October is Goth Brunch. We came in a little bit later so we didn't see the DJ's full set but she definitely did not disappoint with wonderful goth classic songs mixed with modern goth songs. The specials were all Halloween based from the drinks to the food. We decided on a vegetarian burrito and it was delicious. Originally it is a vegan burrito with no cheese but we added the cheese. The bartender forgot to add the cheese but then offered us queso instead, and it was an amazing idea because that was one of the best vegetarian burritos I've ever had in my entire life. We appreciated not only the delicious food but the bartender offering the option because it was not only really considerate of her but absolutely so good! I was very happy to have come here today. All the bartenders dressed in a very fun, spooky style clothing which made us feel really comfortable walking in and feeling comfortable in our own skin, dressed gothy to the max! I honestly wish Orlando had an option like this because this is very unique and definitely was a main reason why we even traveled into Tampa today instead of going straight home from St Pete. Considering I've only been here twice I would absolutely put this on the list of a place I would return to again in the future. I went there about 3pm on a Tuesday...which happened to be my birthday to have lunch with my mother. Not only were we not greeted by the 3 staff standing around with NO other customers, but we were also not brought any menus or given direction about seating. We sat down and waited for a server to come by and ask for our drink order and bring menus. No one ever did. We got up and grabbed our own menus close to where the staff were standing. They paid no attention. After 3 or 4 more minutes we stood up to leave and they didn't care. So we walked out and I had my birthday lunch elsewhere. I wrote to them on Facebook about our service and they promptly deleted my comment and ignored my message. I used to go to the Bricks all the time, but we've never been back since and I warn any new friends to not go there as well. read more

And today not only did I get 50% off wine all night, I also got David Bowie and The Cure blasted while I played Connect Four with my buddy most of the evening. If this does not appeal to you... well, I don't really want to be your friend anyway. Look, I know it's in Ybor. I understand Ybor is mostly awful at this point, and there aren't many reasons for any self-respecting South Tampanian to ever head to 7th Ave. But this is the rare exception to the rule. It's a great bar with beer, wine, booze, and great food in a super-chill atmosphere. We're probably 10 more places like this from making Tampa become a true cultural home of awesome. You'll find as nice a diversity of our fair city as in any place between the city limits. It's an absolute treasure, and should be packed with people 24/7. We need more businesses like this, not less. And if you're a skateboarder (which I'm certainly not), this place should be your nirvana. Check out the awesome custom-painted decks all over the walls. You can either skate them or just put them on your wall as the art they are. So incredibly super sweet! If you really need to see Ybor City, and the type of place it should be, make sure to stop in here. Between The Bricks, King Corona, Bernini, and The Columbia, there are still reasons to head that way. And hopefully someday the city and county will get it right, and turn this national treasure of an area into the mixed use district it should have become decades ago. read more

I stopped by this place while in Tampa for the day and was super impressed. I was craving something fresh and delicious and that's exactly what Brick's gave me. There were multiple vegetarian options that all sounded amazing (along with plenty of meat options!) I went with the veggie Cuban (mostly because I was craving avocado) and the quinoa salad side and loved it! It was fresh and had all the flavors I love in a Cuban without all the meat. My favorite part was actually the pickles: they were the kind of pickles you'd pay $9 for at the Farmer's market and then eat them all in a week. They added so much goodness to the meal. We ended up going at a time when nothing extra was happening here, but the atmosphere was fun and unique, just like most of Ybor. Even the bathrooms were fun/covered in paintings. The coffee selection also looked amazing and this place is full of natural light in the front and exposed brick, making it a rest place to come and enjoy coffee and a book as well (on a quiet day).
