This place terrible. Save your time and go to Rialto. Food is mediocre at best. "Two waffles" is actually two quarters of a waffle, none of the beer offered is served, and the service is terrible. Theres a sign when you arrive that says something along the lines of "please wait here, or go inside to be seated The servers love to be greeted" we stood there for a good 10 minutes before heading inside where we had to get the attention of the server once inside to get a seated. The place wasn't busy, but most of the wait staff could care less. This place has potential to be really good it's located inside Villa Del Sol, which is a really old Spanish style courtyard with great landscaping, a fountain and a lot of history in Fullerton instead you're greeted with less that mediocre food and horrible service. Let me preface this review by noting that I am unable to successfully submit this review with 0 stars; otherwise, I would give this restaurant 0 stars. The service was inept and obviously overwhelmed. We were seated quickly, but then waited several minutes before we received menus. When our server reappeared about 10 minutes later, he stated that it would be about 10 minutes longer before he could take our orders. After some negotiating, we convinced him to bring us waters and take our drink orders. Why didn't we leave at this point? The food looked decent and everything else within walking distance was packed. About 15 minutes later our orders were taken, but we still had no drinks. We were reassured that our drinks would be right out. Our food was delivered about 15 minutes later (but still no drinks). Although the pastrami sandwich was decent, the soups were cold-lukewarm, and the salads were of poor quality and delivered without dressing. Visited the Brownstone Cafe in the heart of downtown Fullerton for brunch this past Sunday. WOW! What a hidden gem in Orange County. The staff was very welcoming and the wait for a table was short on this cold morning as my fiance and I elected to sit inside where it was toasty warm. The scents of fresh brewed coffee and a country breakfasts filled the area. My fiance ordered eggs which were cooked to order (over easy) and perfect. I made several substitutions to the breakfast burrito (which is smothered in country gravy!) and ate every last bite. Our food arrived after a bit however we didn't mind the wait as it gave us time to catch up and enjoy the ambiance of the cafe. What a relaxing morning, with great service and fantastic food. We will definitely frequent this cafe as the menu has much to offer! (they even offer off-site catering and on-site receptions for weddings/birthdays) I cannot wait to try the tomato bisque soup! read more

It started out delish until I pulled out what seemed like a pubic hair ( still cringing at the mere thought) . I think the pasta at this restaurant was ok. Salt and pepper needed to be added to increase the flavor. The side salad was very fresh and deliousous.it took 3 different people to ask us about drinks and 15 minutes to final get our drinks. The waiter took our order and came back to drop it off. We just left the restaurant after waiting over 15 mins just to get seated (with many tables opened). I read other reviews that encouraged me to take my father and daughter ther for Sunday breakfast. Cute little place with some outside seating in a courtyard. The service was good, and the waitress pleasant. However, the food apparently was more than the chef could handle. My father ordered eggs with no cheese, burnt toast (yes that is the way he likes it) and a pancake. My daughter ordered PB&J French toast. I ordered a Mediterranean omelette with very "well done" toast. My father got his eggs covered in cheese, with white bread that had no appearance of being toast whatsoever, let alone burnt. My daughter got a cinnamon and cream cheese French toast (on the menu, but NOT what she ordered). And my omelette was covered in melted Feta instead of in the omelette (perhaps that is normal here, just not what I expected), and Rye bread that also bore no resemblance to toast. The potatoes on all our plates were greasy and cold. To the servers credit she replaced my daughters meal with the correct one and offered to replace my fathers eggs to correct the cheese addition. She also offered to correct both our toast orders, but only brought my father a slightly more brown version of his original order. All in all the food was not what we ordered and not very hot. The place was about 50% full so the chef should not have been overwhelmed. Would not recommend this place on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Can't speak to during the week or other meals. read more

I love this restaurant in the courtyard. My friend and I went their today after Church at SRF. I had a Greek salad...highly recommend. It was in a large bowl no skimping on the mushrooms or feta cheese or lettace. My friend got a Panini Mediterranean sandwich and she loved it. It has a lot of options for you vegetarians. The decor is old English with a country feel. There is colorful art work on the walls, and visuals everywhere you look. You have an option of eating on the patio which is in a large courtyard...no traffic only a nice big fountain in the center of this large area. The square building is two stories and I'm sure in it's day fifty years ago it was the place to go to shop and din. There are many shops and also another restaurant in the plaza...not to mention another restaurant just across the street that is veggie only a tea shop next to that. You can spend hours entertaining yourself in just half of a block. If you like the old town unusual cozy feel you will not be disappointed. read more

Ordered an omelette with no onion. I repeated myself twice that I did not want onion. Unfortunately when the food was brought out, what happens? It has onion! I mentioned it to the server, she took it back to have it remade without onion and by the time it was out everyone in my group had finished eating and I had finished the sides already. Service was terrible. Took over 15 minutes to be greeted by a server. Said they were busy. There were four tables besides us and three servers. Okay... They drop off a fruit cup for the kids. Never clear it after its empty. Ordered, my meal came with a salad beforehand. Salad never showed up. Everyone's good came out and then as I'm sitting there with no food in front of me out she asks if we are waiting on anything else. Yeah, my food. Brings salad. Awful. Never refills my husband's drink until I ask. Never offers me a second beer which I would have ordered. Brings my pasta, tastes mediocre at best. My daughters grilled cheese had burned cheese stuck to it. They came out while I was eating my salad with a tray of desserts and offered a free one cause they "felt bad for the kitchen mix up." We said no to dessert. Then while I was eating the pasta another server comes over and drops a carrot cake muffin in front of me and says "it is my fault you didn't get your food here you go." Again say we don't want dessert and she takes it away. Ask for check and never once did they pre-buss the table. How does this place stay in business? There was no music on so you can just hear the other diner's conversations. Was warm inside. And they still had a chalk board up for Mother's Day. Won't be back ever. Don't recommend. read more

Starve before you eat here. I had one of the worst lunch experiences I have had in a long time. Met friends for lunch and found the menu a little sparse but finally settled on spinach and salmon salad. Also included tomatoes but I can't eat them so I asked to have them left off. When my salad arrived it was nothing but a big plate of baby lettuce. Straight from the bag I buy at the market. There was a little very strong tasting salmon sprinkled on top...if the salad wasn't bad enough ,when I called the waitress her retort was "I don't cook the food" and walked away . So my friend, her sister, and myself decided to have breakfast at the Brownstone Cafe today, and boy was the food amazing! They had both told me that the food was really good and so I was excited going into it. First off, the ambiance is very nice. Kind of had a Spanish Mediterranean vibe with beautiful patio seating. There is a courtyard with a fountain and lots of lush plants and trees. We sat indoors because it was a bit chilly, but the interior decor was very cute. Our server was extremely nice and frequently checked up on us and would immediately refill my coffee cup once it got half way. GREAT SERVICE if you ask me! I got the pesto sausage omelette with a side of wheat toast and potatoes. It was very simple, tasty, and fulfilling. It wasn't greasy at all. They put some cheese on my omelette, but just the right amount. I hate it when my food is drenched with cheese because it makes me feel kinda queasy. Had seen a Living Social deal for this place and it was close by so I bought it. Went here on my lunch break with my husband and got there a few minutes after 11. I was looking forward to having brunch as Yelp has many pictures on their breakfast items. It was busy and there seemed to only be one server so by the time the server came by it was already 11:15. We didn't mind the wait but she told us they stop serving breakfast at 11. We told her that was the only reason why we went and if they could make an exception and she said no. We were really upset and ended up ordering off their lunch menu. The only side options were potato salad and pasta salad - no fries or any other items that you can add on by evening paying extra. We both got potato salad which lacked flavor. I got the southwestern wrap which was good and my husband got the chicken panini which was okay. Would have loved to tried their breakfast, but given the experience we had I don't think we would go back. read more

First time visiting this restaurant after an amazing week. We were the first guest for breakfast. Sat outside, very relaxing. We ordered food (typical breakfast) w/ a cup of soup. Without getting into specifics of service, except I did have to walk in to get my own food since my table was done with breakfast after an hour 1/2, and I want to mention, soup was a bowl of country gravy. After two hours and waiting for a bill. I went inside and was greeted by the owner who came out extremely aggressive. He asked WHAT DO I WANT? I proceeded to tell him that service was not good, food was cold and each of us got our food separately. He said VERY AGGRESSIVE. YELLInG. I HAD TO GO GET EGGS. I said well you shouldn't be taken that out on your patrons. He then said WELL EVERYONE HAS A BAD DAY, WHAT DO YOU WANT EVERYTHING FOR FREE!! I told him , I never asked for anything free. He continued screaming. I walked out and asked my sister to go in to pay as the owner was extremely aggressive and said he was having a bad day! After my sister went in to let him know the service was unacceptable and to split the bill with to CCs, he told her to get out or he would call police. My sister said that would be fine and to call. This was completely shocking. We are all professional adults, who just came in to enjoy breakfast. This was an unimaginable experience that I have never experienced in my life. The personnel were understaff, the french toast tasted very good but they didn't mentioned that the home potatoes were fried in pork grease even that I am vegetarian and asked what was in it. The bathroom was really dirty, they haven't scrub it in a while, the louvered glass was so filty and had dust from possibly years. What kind of management will let their customers have to go in a bathroom which stucco is crumbling all at the bottom, their trash cans were full, the plumbing problems they had are still evident and looks like the worst getto? This supposedly is a historical site and definetly charge food for being in such nice area but don't take care of their own infrastructure? Is it that a historical location needs a historical bathroom that hasn't been updated even that is falling apart? I asked the server about their filty bathroom and the person rolled the eyes and informed me that is such a commom complain.... Well management company, I will not go back or reccomend such a place for weddings, or any other event if you cannot spend a few hundreds making it better for the clients. Food practice is not only having a nice looking tasty meal in front of your eyes but the level of prompt and friendly service & cleanness you offer to your clients. Fun little out of the way restaurant in old town Fullerton. Yummy food and a great waitress. Her name was Linda. Super sweet! However her management should give her a little more support, she was taking orders, serving her customers, bussing tables, fulfilling every desire for her customers and having to clean up all the messes. She never lost her composure, just an all around lovely person. Hopefully the owners will get her more help and treat her really good. If I were a restaurant owner I would steal her away. read more
