I've been wanting to try this buffet since forever. And I must say the choice of food and quality of food is below average. Nothing here is authentic and it's more of an "American Chinese" buffet. It's the same thing you can get at your local Chinese take out restaurants down your block. The crab legs here are so tinyyy and unfresh. In fact, it was yelllow! My husband is a huge raw oyster fan, but even he was afraid to try it because it looked bad. The sushi rolls were so hard to chew- probably the seaweed has been sitting out for some time. The desserts was lacking. Limited selections. They had sprinkles, m&ms, Oreo crunch on the side for your ice cream. I saw a girl double dipped her spoon into the mix! And why bother with the chocolate fondue? This was my third time coming to The Buffet but my first time going to a buffet since Covid. I was nervous that the setup would be unhygienic but most of the workers wore masks and the window panes covered a good amount of the buffet areas. Food: as expected of a buffet, there is an amazing selection of hot foods, cold foods, and desserts. While there is a wide variety of Japanese, Korean, and Chinese dishes, I'd say they excel in Chinese cuisine more - think dim sum, stir-fry noodles, and banquet menu items. There is also a surprising amount of cook-to-order stations, such as a ramen/udon station, a Peking duck station, cotton candy station, and a crepe station. My husband was a big fan of the Peking duck station. While it's great that there is an abundance of options, only a few items were made to perfection. For example, the broth from the noodle station was too salty. The Korean pancake and fried chicken were alright but not the usual restaurant quality. The desserts were underwhelming, especially the bland coconut pudding and stiff marshmallow from the chocolate fountain. Skip the creme brulee (too eggy and big portion) and get the mango sago instead. Service: we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table around 1/2 pm on a rainy weekend. We got our drinks pretty quickly after getting seated and our dirty plates were cleared in a timely manner. They kept going around to the birthday peeps with a gong and cupcake, which I thought was a nice gesture. The only downside was the staff gave us our check once they saw that my party slowed down with the food, which was a little earlier than the 1.5 hrs we were supposed to have. Went back to the Buffet for a third time and omg it was such a great experience. The sashimi is no longer in little cups and is served on a platter so you can grab as much as you want! There was plenty of food including giant crab legs and employees walking around offering cuts of beef and meat on swords. Only improvement now would be to make sure employees are near by carving stations and keep the chocolate fountain clean (saw some straw wrappers in there) Don't forget to get your ticket validated and enjoy the free drinks! read more

If you're going to go to a buffet in Queens, this is probably your best bet. I'd give them four stars, but after going for so many years, I have to talk about their awful business practices. The food is good for a buffet. I've never gotten sick from eating here, and that includes indulging at their raw bar. That's impressive at a buffet, especially with people's grubby hands grabbing shared tongs and whatnot. The buffets are refreshed and refilled during peak hours. The restrooms are generally clean, and they're kept that way. The parking sucks. It's no longer free, only discounted, and the neighborhood isn't the best for street parking. I manage fine because I'm from the area, but for anyone who is visiting, I expect it to be very confusing. My gripe is with the way they handle business. For example, not disclosing increased holiday prices on a weekday when you arrive and ask for a table. This is even more of an issue for regular customer - usually Asian, who don't observe American holidays (like my parents). The price difference between a normal weekday lunch and a holiday lunch, charged the same as holiday dinner, isn't nominal either. We expected less than $30 a person, but ended up with a bill of well over $50 per person. Another issue I've had, which they no longer do, is that they used to add an undisclosed service charge to the check. I've complained about this before, and I know they haven't practiced this in years, but it just adds to the list of shady business conduct. Most recently, an issue I had is that they advertise to close at 10:30 on Saturdays. I called in advance to make sure they still serve food up until 10:30. Their response is that they do, but last table seating is at 9:45 - I found this reasonable. I finally decided to go later on a Saturday with a party of 6 to avoid the ridiculous crowds. During our meal, I found out that they stop bringing out fresh food around 9:15. In fact, by 9:30 they start cleaning off the buffets and tables. They took away our tables' soy sauces by 9:40. We were charged the full Saturday dinner price, only to not have any fresh food for the last hour and fifteen minutes of the dinner service (keeping in mind their hour and a half seating limit). We were essentially just eating leftover food, with no fresh seafood or decent cuts of meat. I've been here countless times over the years, and though their food is good (again, for a buffet), I'm starting to feel more and more irritated by their business practices, and my latest experience made me feel completely ripped off. My friend came across this place because of IG & it's definitely a great find! Buffet is $55 a person & it's non stop eating they have several stations, from noodles, rice so many different types of meat, fish & even a cooking station for Steak. On the meats , chicken skewers, short ribs, lamb chop, orange chicken & the duck were all very good, the Steak freshly cooked yumm. They have a good variety of Sushi I tried a few pieces, not bad. Noodles were decent but too spicy wasn't expecting that, Fried rice was very popular not sure why? Taste wise nothing special at least for me. Dumplings were very good. The stations of the buffet is centered and the line got long at the meat station of where Peking duck and ribs are. The food could be hotter and station should be filled up more fuller. And the cold section of where sashimi and sushi are were mediocre. However, the staff are quite attentive and cleared up table as quickly as possible. We've been there a few times too many. :D My favorite dish is the Walnut Shrimp and I shamefully go back multiple times. Yes, I know it's filling because of the breading, but it's so good, I can't help myself. It's the Walnut Shrimp and Sashimi for me... I'm easy. We mainly stick to the sodas, water and if hubby is driving I get a beer or two. There's something for everyone, even my picky eater enjoyed his time there. The Buffet is a good solid choice for anyone who wants to test the elasticity of their stomachs. Food quality is good overall but it's an AYCE so don't expect too much. Their food selection is mainly Chinese inspired with steamed fish, dim sum such as shumai and chicken feet, "Peking duck", and various stir fried items. They also have a raw bar with oysters, clams, and various sushi rolls. Service is typically pretty fast as by the time you come back from the buffet "lines", your old plate is taken away already making room for you to pig out some more. I've rated The Buffet 3 stars and not higher for a couple of reasons. The bathrooms are a bit gross with slippery floors and non working faucets and soap dispensers. Although I understand that this kind of establishment is about quantity and not quality, food quality should be higher in my opinion. The stir fry items are very oily and their raw items are questionable most of the time. It's best to keep an eye out to see when they put our fresh raw foods. The other thing is (not really the establishment's fault) is you will likely not a great buffet line experience. There will be cuts, there will be shoving, and there will be that one person who waits for fresh raw oysters to come out and she will literally walk back with 3 plates full of oysters. I'm not really referencing to any kind of particular demographic...but to those who know...they know. And this one has a lot of variety, I'm especially fond of the fresh seafood choices. It wasn't very crowded when we went for lunch. My one complaint is that when the waitress asks you if you'd like drinks, they don't tell you which drinks are included & which are not, you gotta ask. I have never heard of this place before or knew it existed until a friend told me about it. It is tucked away in a hotel (I think), and with a private parking lot and with it being on the fourth floor, I would not have found it if it were not for my friend. When I arrived on a Saturday during dinner time, I was promptly seated. It costed around $50 per person all you can eat including free drinks like bubble tea and sodas. Their policy says that you do not need to tip. I loved the wide selection of food they had ranging from regular buffet food to lots of traditional Asian dishes as well as sushi. Another great thing was that they offered crab legs which I was surprised to see because of inflation (haha). Overall, I do think that this is a rare find since there aren't too many buffets in NY, and the quality of food that they served was not bad at all. We were impressed with the cleanliness, the tables being spaced out and all of the protocols being used to be COVID safe. Everything we had taste very fresh and was plentiful. We stopped at round three since our bellies couldn't handle anymore. An unexpected highlight for us was the Churrasco: a gentleman walks around from table to table giving cuts of meats. I came here recently during the pandemic - so I thought I'd update my review! This is still my go-to buffet in Queens. The dining area is huge, and we were happy that there was a decent amount of people that were dining in and we were able to get seated right away. The variety of different Asian foods in this buffet is a plus. There are so many different Asian foods that you can choose from and everything that I have tried was satisfying. I would say to try to get a little piece of everything so that you can try it all. Because of Covid, you obviously have to wear your mask and there are clear gloves around the buffet area for you to put on when you are grabbing your food. I haven't had any Chinese buffets near me for a number of years and this was a refreshing, well kept experience for the most part. Yes it is pricey at 57$ per person, but that solely isn't the reason for the 3-star. Admittedly, it is worth the price considering it is a no-tip restaurant. The buffet exceeded some of my expectations especially with the dessert selection. Upon entering the actual site, there is a large parking lot with many spaces for parking accommodations. Their prices have increased so lunchtime might be the best time to go for a better bargain. I appreciate their selection of hot dishes, soups and other food! Their sushi is not amazing, but some rolls are not bad. Their sashimi is pretty good especially their Toro and Salmon. Their dessert selection is the best I've seen in the variety of Chinese owned buffet places I've been to. I appreciate that they offer a great variety of Asian and American inspired desserts and in their own tiny containers/portions. I especially loved this one jelly with tiny goji berries in it. They have unlimited drinks as well as food, but most of their soda options are diluted with water. The staff was very attentive and helpful, and always around. Really amazing service! Onto food, the Buffet has range. They offer different types of Chinese foods, from Szechuan to Cantonese. There is a section for hibachi, where the chef will grill in front of you. They have a decent assortment of American fast food items and dessert. However, the star of the show was their carving board and fresh seafood. Their carving board offers Peking Duck with the cucumber, scallions, and sauce as well as sausages. They also have a TON of sashimi and fresh oysters and crab. Everything looked amazing and the smell was incredible. I had a little bit of everything, and nothing was lacking in flavor or freshness. I was absolutely expecting worse due to COVID, but that definitely wasn't the case here. 10/10 recommend. My experience at The Buffet was amazing and I can't wait to go back. I've been meaning to check this place out for some time . Here's the set up: $60 AYCE buffet (weekend dinner price, bit cheaper for lunch). Options skew heavily Asian like Cantonese and others. Emphasis here is seafood, although low quality, just being honest . Sushi was borderline inedible, defrosted cuts of fish that just tasted odd, and soggy. Tried the Peking duck and chicken skewers, tasted average. Not surprisingly, you see crowds loading up on snow and stone crab prepared cold and also sautéed with ginger and scallion. But hit or miss here as well. Some tasted ok others tasted chalky. I picked out the Cantonese dishes since it's what I like, with pan fried lamb chops and beef chow fun. There are a few oddball options like brasilian picanha and grilled pineapple on a skewer brought to your table. There is a habachi/plancha station where you can order a steak. Lastly fruit options were plenty with fresh watermelon, grapes and cantaloupe. Worth tracking from Manhattan? Probably not , but checked off my list lol read more

The quality of services and foods differ by a lot. I enjoyed a large selection, but not everything was good. They have a grill section, offering noodle, fish fillet, shrimp, beef, chicken, vegetables and also udon tempura. They cook in front of you (frozen). Good: grilled shrimp, peking duck, oyster, crab leg, lobster. Bad: i didnt really like rest of the foods. If you are a big eater, I would recommend this place. Huge selection. We came here a few days ago to celebrate a belated mother's day as a party of seven. Two of us are vegan and I had called ahead the day before to explain and ask if a kitchen staff member could help us identify which buffet items contained no animal products and were suitable for us to eat. We've been to other buffets before (notably Spring Shabu Shabu) and such a request is never an issue. Someone who identified himself as "Run" answered the phone and initially had a bit of trouble understanding the question, but finally told me to look for him the next day and he would help us. When we arrived the next day, there was some trouble figuring out who Run was. We realized he was the manager, but then he was busy. A server told us everyone else in the kitchen could only speak Mandarin fluently and directed us to the hibachi chef while we waited for the manager to be available. To his credit, the hibachi chef did try to help us, although his understanding and knowledge was somewhat limited. 5-10 minutes later (everyone else in our party had already started eating by now) Run came out and did start showing us around. He didn't have an intimate knowledge of all ingredients but did go to clarify a few dishes we had questions about. For some of the other items, we were told he just didn't know since they weren't made in house (although ingredients lists should always be available), and when I had another question about a noodle dish later, instead of trying to find out whether the noodles contained egg, he told me to just assume they did. I understand he was probably busy, but that response indicated a kind of laziness and disinterest in customer care that was really disappointing. In contrast, at a recent visit to Spring, we had a kitchen staff member actually find us at our table to correct some misinformation he had given us earlier about an item on the buffet so we'd know we could eat it. For the higher price point at The Buffet, you'd sort of expect more. Also, at the sushi bar, I asked one of the chefs if he could make me a custom roll. He asked me what I wanted on it, and I told him mango, avocado, cucumber. He then pointed to a premade roll with mango on top that also contained the imitation crab used in California roll. I told him that had fish and he started arguing with me that it wasn't fish. I said I wanted only vegetables and he insisted it was, but I could clearly see the piece of crab inside. I told him it was fish and he said it wasn't fish; it was kani. But kani is a kind of imitation crab that is made of fish according to Google. He argued with me at least six times, insisting he was right, instead of just making me a roll. It was really horrible customer service. I ended up just walking away. In summary, for any other vegetarians or vegans, don't expect this restaurant to care much or at all about your experience. In the future I'll be choosing a place like Spring Shabu Shabu instead. read more

I've heard/read many reviews about this place and they are all positive... met up with some friends for dinner and this was suggested by @getter3in1 . The buffet/food is located in the middle of the restaurant, and there are signs in the floor to indicate which direction you should be going (like Ikea), pretty sure it's due to the pandemic.. bc of that, I felt the path was very narrow and somewhat confusing. I mean for buffets, there is really no "direction" you just go to the dish you want and if someone is there, you stand behind them. But this felt more like lunchroom service.. I can't say I was much annoyed with the wait as I went on a weekday, I cannot imagine on a weekend if you wanted something specific but there was only one line for everything... do I make any sense? . The variety was nice and everything was made fresh, and they replenish dishes quite fast, I personally didn't feel as if I was getting any of the last pieces. No one wants those. Especially the seafood/raw bar. Dungeness Crab, snow crab legs, raw oysters and clams were always available... I mean, snow crab legs are where I get my money's worth.. . I was not able to eat every item they served but every item I ate, all were enjoyable. The best bite was the meat served on the stick - They recently added grilled meats like they do at Brazilian churrasco restaurants except they don't say what kind of meat/cut it is.
