dined here a couple times; have nothing but great things to say. service is welcoming and efficient, server/manager/owner checking in on our meal, beverages refilled promptly. both times i was in there, I saw nothing but smiley faces; they all seem to like working there. owner who greeted us and walked through his menu with us at last visit takes great pride in this baby, and he should. food-wise, portion size is generous, price point affordable, and food quality decent. aside from their EXTENSIVE gluten-free menu including in-house pizza dough or flatbread (forgot which), what really puts them on top --at least for the environmentalist in me -- is the effort they exert in making conscious choices while running the tough, relentless restaurant business. i reckon that these decisions often come with a cost, and The Cabin seems undeterred by the money factor, committed to put people and the environment on the very top of their list. from the little note printed on the straw (see pic), and the kind of doggy bags they provide, every bit of that warms my heart. sure, I could have done better, as in declining the straw (which we did) and bringing our own boxes (which I forgot), but every sustainability effort counts for something and I want to commend The Cabin for playing a great part, by chipping their profits to "give back" to the community and the only world we have to live. we may not be in town often, but for the two big factors above, you bet you will be our number one choice whenever we return! for those looking for a neighborhood pub grub, there's a small bar area by the entrance, equipped with tv and bartender. with the nice people who work there, i have no doubt this would be as close to your personal Cheers as one can get. We had ordered 2 small Greek salads - 1 with chicken ... $7.00 for a piece of chicken!! The owner, John, rushed us right out the door!! After dinner we ordered a drink and was looking at the dessert menu. When asked we told waitress we were deciding - she said she would come back. Here comes John who asked abt dessert. We began going to this little jewel because my daughter is gluten free and they offer a complete menu of gluten free food. Actually, virtually the entire menu, which is very substantial and varied) is offered gluten free. She loves it for the variety and quality of the gluten free food. I love it for the food and the wait staff, especially Sheri! This is the only restaurant she has even been to that she hasn't at some point suffered gluten discomfort. That makes the Cabin truly unique. I also enjoy that the owner is often on hand and very interested in your satisfaction. That personal attention is refreshing to say the least. I recently dined at The Cabin Restaurant in Middleboro, MA, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. From the outset, the negative tone was set by the owner, Jon Pell, who made uncomfortable and inappropriate remarks to my friend before we got there based on the broken English of the person who made our reservation. Something to the effect of: "Why is someone from China coming here?" This initial encounter with the owner Jon cast a shadow over the entire holiday dining experience. Our server, Anna, displayed a consistently icy and passive-aggressive attitude throughout the meal. Her demeanor was downright rude, and it seemed like she had a frozen expression and glassed-over eyes, leading us to question whether there were other factors at play. The realization that the gratuity was included in the bill shed light on her behavior. It appeared as though she felt she had no obligation to be respectful or pleasant to us, given the already included tip. Our bill exceeded $300 and we planned on giving her an extra tip as it is the holiday season, and while we chose not to create a scene at the restaurant, the frustration lingered. When we attempted to address our concerns with the owner, Jon, he responded by yelling at us over the phone. His unfounded accusations about our kids being disruptive and him tripping over them all over the restaurant were both perplexing and untrue. In reality, our children enjoyed the food and were well-behaved throughout the evening. I would be first to drag the kids out of there if they were causing a scene. It's advertised as a family restaurant with food like macaroni and cheese hot dog pizza. Its not some high end French restaurant. Furthermore, Anna's supposed grievances with our party included minor issues such as our children's chairs occasionally sticking out, something she promptly corrected, as is her responsibility. Additionally, when my hat fell off my chair, she picked it up with some unnecessary and snide comment. Then my girlfriend forgot her name and called her miss, and she yelled : " My name is Anna!!" - great but who gives af really? Just do your job! Overall, the combination of inappropriate remarks from the owner, poor service from Anna, and an unprofessional response when addressing concerns make The Cabin Restaurant an establishment I cannot recommend, especially for minorities. The experience was beyond disappointing, and the treatment we received was racist, rude and unacceptable. read more

First time dining here in over 35 years. The owner greeted us, sat us, and conversed with us. The service was impeccable. The food we had was a pizza and calamari with scallops plate. I have never had a better seafood meal! It was such a delight that I used no tarter sauce for the first time in my life. The seafood melted like butter in my mouth. The pizza was a hit with my husband. He saved me a piece so I could comment. I was impressed. It was very delicious. I can't wait to go back!! Very pleased with my meal and exceptional waitress, Leona. Told her what kind of beverage and food I liked and she gave awesome suggestions for both. I ordered GF baked haddock with winter squash and onion rings. Someone ( kitchen help brought my food to the table) and shortly after- before I started to eat, Leona came over and asked me if it had a pick in it. I looked puzzled and she was relieved to see the the pick maked GF. She was concerned and wanted to make sure it was GF. It's always nice to have a waitress show concern. Will definitely be back. First time to The Cabin! I so wish we lived closer, because I would come here every week. I am thoroughly impressed with the amount of gluten free options, and the amazing quality of the food. The owner, John, seated us himself, and brought over a gluten free menu. He told us about himself, the restaurant, the menu, asked me how long I've been gluten free, where we're from, and went over the menu in detail. Our server, Ana, was very attentive and pleasant. Just the right combination of being available if needed, but not hovering. The bus boy was constantly scanning the room and immediately cleaning tables when diners left. The owner was also bussing and cleaning tables. I am 100% impressed by the entire experience! We will definitely be back! read more

honestly, the most overrated restaurant on yelp. In fact, the most overrated restaurant anywhere. I was expecting a much nicer atmosphere based on the pricing and the reviews. The bar takes up a third of the restaurant, it's smelly and it's loud, that's really not the atmosphere I want to experience when trying to enjoy my dinner. On to the food. I don't understand what everyone else is ordering, but of all of the meals we ordered, none of them were anything special. And their cocktail list may be decent, but their wine list stinks. The food is OKish if you eat in person, but I don't recommend ordering to go or delivery. Their policy for orders placed on delivery apps seems to be not to start the order until the driver arrives, which means your order will be late. This has happened with more than one delivery app, and multiple drivers have confirmed it. Other restaurants don't do this, so it's very much a "them" problem. read more

We had a friend recommend this place when we moved into the area because my husband has celiacs. They're whole menu is gluten free or can be modified gluten free. The management and kitchen staff are so knowledgeable accommodating to the allergy itself, on top of the food is INCREDIBLE! We usually dine in, but tonight decided to pick up dinner and we've decided we're going to do so weekly this winter! Everything was clearly labeled gluten free and prepared perfectly. I love their salads so much, they're huge and always are the perfect flavor combos and my husband loves that he can have real French fries. Had an opportunity to dine here for the first time. It's a family/group atmosphere in the dining room. Tight bar area. It was busy as you would expect during dinner rush on a Saturday. Had the fried seafood combo of whole clams and haddock. Clams were lightly battered but quantity was lacking a bit (this is often the case on any fried whole clam plate). Haddock was flaky and also lightly battered. Cabin onion rings on top. Lots of food for sure. Seafood risotto was creamy. Well done. A little on the small side for $23 but not bad. Gluten free. App was roasted brussel sprouts with homemade ranch dressing. Not much for flavor. Well cooked. But light on flavoring. Ranch was kinda thin. Apple crisp dessert was ok. I like the add on of the cranberries. Nice touch. Gluten free too. So food was good. Not remarkable but good! Here is why I gave them 4 stars tho. You are greeted and seated by the Owner who is very very pleasant. He actually goes over the menu and specials before the server shows up (she was super nice too). I just like this! It makes you feel like your patronage is appreciated. Call me old fashioned but the Owner at your table for a a quick 1-2-3 is worth going back. I'm sure there are some other nice things on the menu. A couple of years ago when visiting my inlaws in the Bridgewater area, I was looking for an option for a large group after we visited Edaville during Christmas time. It was the middle of the week, The Cabin looked amazing, and they were quite accommodating for our large party, even though they are not that large of a restaurant. Since then, we have made it a dinner spot anytime I visit family. The Cabin is known primarily for 2 things: pizza and seafood. They have other items on the menu, including sandwiches, burgers, and other entrees like steak and chicken, but they provide a lot of menu real estate to both their pizza and seafood. It is understandable, too, as they prepare both fabulously. They have a nice variety of pizzas, many of which are quite unique. One of my favorites is the Fishing Hole, which is a marriage of both specialties. This particular pizza is topped with scallops, clams, shrimp, artichoke, and tomatoes. Pizzas are intended to be personal sized, and at a fully loaded 10" they are quite filling. The Cabin cooks the pizzas in a stone oven and has their own unique sauce and cheese blend resulting in pizza with delicious crust, great texture, and a robust flavor. They really do load on the toppings, making for a very hearty pizza. My son always gets the Taco Pizza which is smothered with typical taco components and is a feast for the taste buds. I don't think you can go wrong with a pizza from The Cabin. On my most recent visit, I decided not to order a pizza and go with a seafood entrée instead. The Baked Seafood Trio had my name written all over it. It combines fresh haddock, sea scallops, and jumbo shrimp served in a crock and roasted with seasoned buttered bread crumbs. I highly recommend getting it topped with the Lobster Newburg sauce, as it adds a really nice richness to the dish that is creamy and downright delicious. You get your choice of 2 sides with the entrée, and I went with the steamed broccoli and sautéed spinach. The broccoli was good but fairly straightforward. The spinach, on the other hand, was fabulous and insanely flavorful. The Cabin offers a variety of different side dishes, so it shouldn't be too difficult for anyone to find something they would like. I need to mention that their fresh seafood bisque is required eating. The base of the soup is much like a lobster bisque, and it is packed full of shrimp and scallops and then garnished with herbed croutons that are also quite yummy. It is a reasonably sized bowl (though not too large) and is definitely a bit rich. It is a great way to start your meal, and for those with lighter appetites, this paired with a side or 2 might be the perfect meal. I can't forget about the desserts either. My go to is the chocolate mousse cake, which is quite decadent and continues the rich trend of much of The Cabin's food. Their warm apple crisp (served ala mode) is also delicious. And if you are too full after eating all of your pre-dessert food, you can get your dessert to go! The service has always been good and helpful, and the atmosphere at the restaurant is bright and cheery. The prices are quite reasonable, particularly for the portions and quality you receive, and as already mentioned the food is delicious. They do get quite busy at rush dinner times, particularly on the weekends, so calling ahead for a reservation is recommended. The Cabin has become one of my family's favorite spots to hit whenever we visit them, and you should definitely check it out when you get the chance. read more

This is the second time in as many visits that I was unhappy with The Cabin. The food is excellent, no problem there, but portions have gotten smaller since we first started going. It's the service that needs to be better. We waited 15 minutes before the waitress came to take our orders, 20 minutes after that before our appetizers came out and 40 minutes later before we got served the main course, I had to ask the waitress where our meals were. then another 15 minute wait to pay the bill after the meal. Everyone is super friendly but I feel they are under staffed for the volume of patrons they get. I will continue to eat there only because the food is that good, but be prepared to spend two and a half hours from start to finish for your meal. read more

Overall this restaurant is nothing special. They did not have any regular soda only some bottled "Crafted " stuff but they have a bar so they must have a soda gun for when someone orders a cocktail like rum and coke.. Then we waited a really long time for our food. I ordered a Reuben sandwich .The menu said that it came with fries and Cole slaw, That sounds like two sides to me, but I asked if I could have something else and the waitress told me I could have anything on the side order menu. I asked two other things. A short while later she brought out this tray with these tiny little cups with the coleslaw. There was only about a tablespoon of it. It came out before we even got our sandwiches. When the food finally arrived I only got one side and she told me the coleslaw was " free". There was very little corned beef on my sandwich. I asked for the manager and she really wasn't very apologetic, but she did take it off the check .All and all not great experience. read more

dined at The Cabin last night, 4 of us, and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. we made a reservatio, not required but one of us is in a wheelchair, and we were seated right away. waitress was friendly, personabel, and did a great job. I had fried clams, the others had fish platter, Cobb salad, and chicken, all of it was great. the fried clams were light golden brown meaning the oil was fresh, really good. one of the best surprises was the details; for example I ordered a martini straight up, the glass was chilled and they brought some "dirty ice on the side. Nobody does that, another nicety was a napkin on the coffee saucer to stop drips. nobody does that either. these things don't cost money but rather show a professIona level of service. read more

On this visit we had the fried green beans special appetizer, I had the Baked Seafood Trio for my entree and my boyfriend devoured the Shrimp Scampi entree special. My red sangria was also quite delish! The staff is super friendly and attentive. A bonus that on each of our visits the owner comes over to greet you and checks in at the end of the meal to find out how everything was (he also runs food and helps bus tables - nice that the owner is also a team player!). That should be plenty of time to handle having some basic food order completed efficiently and correctly, right?! Twice the orders were incorrectly packaged!! Now on THREE separate occasions... show up and wait.... standing and waiting... an additional 35-45 minutes!! Absolutely deplorable, unacceptable and unprofessional!! Hacks!! No regard for the appreciation of having customers and ZERO respect for the value of time wasted from people's lives!! NEVER AGAIN AND FAIRLY WILL WARN ALL WHO WILL LISTEN!!! Prior to Covid-19, I had left an unfortunate review, but would like to change my previous thoughts. COVID-19 has changed everything, and I believe that The Cabin has really stepped up to the plate by providing safe meals for essential workers who had to go out into the community during the outbreak. During the thick of it, the cabin had signed on to delivery services and made sure that our food was safe by securing meals with safety seals that would prevent tampering and contamination. After the virus was starting to get under control I started to pick up my order before work, making sure that the workers of The Cabin got the full benefit of my tip without getting gypped by a third-party provider. I want to thank the workers at The Cabin, for continuing to work and providing safety measures at their restaurant, so that I could do my job during the pandemic. read more

Believe me that takes a long time as a 50 plus year in the food business and 30 plus year as owner of 5 restaurants. Sent it back assuming the owner would come me to ascertain why.
