Passing through town and found this gem !!! Will definitely go out of my way to come here again. Everyone was very welcoming and the place had such a fun vibe. The bartender Romy never let my glass go empty. The bar was busy but she never missed a beat. I ended up having a few too many and I think she could tell. She asked if I was okay to go home and insisted to get my crew an Uber. She got one for me and made sure I got home safe. She really went above and beyond. This is my new go to spot !! I don't usually leave negative reviews but this was just an awful experience. First off, when you walk in it's smells of rotting wood. Then, the server was straight up rude and made us uncomfortable. We ordered the arugula pizza and clam pizza. The arugula pizza was average but the clam pizza was inedible. When we told the server, she just shrugged us off and still charged us. Went last night for the first time in a long time. The time before that we waited 55 minutes for a burger and a sandwich before leaving and going somewhere else. Last night I ordered the reuben sliders and requested no sauerkraut. I had a feeling that the waiter didn't understand and I almost changed my order because I knew I was getting sauerkraut. The sliders came with sauerkraut between the tough as shoe leather corned beef and the cheese. Nobody asked how our meal was or even questioned that my meal was untouched except for the tops of the 2 rolls that I ate for dinner last night. I am forever grateful to the cabin staff and manager for a most excellent meal comforting myself, family, and friends. I planned a luncheon after the sudden death of my father and they accommodated my semi large party with no problem. We had a nice, large, comfortable section in part of the main dining room. We dined on warm dinner rolls and a nice salad for starters. Guests had the choice of broiled salmon, chicken franchese, or sliced steak medallions. These scrumptious dinners were served with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh string beans or asparagus. Our waitress, Bliss, never missed a beat and was very patient with my elderly guests. We enjoyed our meal so much we came back 2 days later for amazing scallops and the very popular meatloaf. The pizza was also fresh and excellent with the pizza oven a focal point in the dining room. How could I not try it? Free parking and great handicapped access. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

I am truly disgusted and disheartened with this local Westchester restaurant located. Myself and another staff member have been there multiple times with individuals who have developmental disabilities. In order for them to continue to learn skills like money management we always ask for separate checks. When we were handed the check we told the waitress exactly what to change on each card. A rude waitress came over and actually yelled (made a scene) that they do not split checks and will not do it. On one hand to say that to people who have processing disorders who instantly think they did something wrong is disgusting. To make someone feel they did something wrong when there is no sign located anywhere saying "no splitting checks" really took these people who have special needs back to a place we have been working on with them to move forward from. Upon leaving the individuals could not stop talking about how that made them feel and one their parents called the restaurant to directly speak to the manager. When speaking with him not only did he not apologize to the parents on behalf of his waitstaff but he said oh next time you should sit separately to make things easier! Are you kidding me ... what a disgrace! I will be taking this further and they will 100% hear from me in regard to this situation. read more

I stopped in for a late lunch and ordered the open faced turkey sandwich. What a mistake. Anybody who knows anything about meat like turkey knows that it should be sliced on the thinner side. This was sliced in pieces about a half inch thick. I don't know if the cook was just lazy or if they don't like turkey. Heated in the microwave and served with beef gravy, tasteless mashed potatoes and stuffing. The best thing was the canned cranberry sauce. First off parking was a pain! Almost left. But once inside we were seated right away. I saw on other reviews the rave of garlic shrimp so I order it. What a disappointing dish. It was swimming in a sauce/oil. It was almost bland and just tasted like shrimp. The salad had three slices of peppered tuna which I cut up to mix within the salad. The dressing was delicious. Some kind of sesame sweet tangy. My other half had a burger which he said although was cooked to his liking was nothing special. He so wanted to like this place but unfortunately couldn't be impressed by his food. He said the truffle fries which came with his burger didn't taste like truffle and werent crispy. The food came out pretty quickly and the service was ok. Although I still don't understand why the waitress asked which items we wanted as an appetizer, as if the menu didn't have categories. The inside was woody, with pictures of trees, clearly sticking with the name 'cabin restaurant' theme. All in all I won't be dying to go back but probably will return if I crave the salad. Recently visited. Good food, less-then-adequate service (1 server for 20+ guests). Space was ridiculously small for attendees. Our party was booked more than 2 months in advance for a specific room but they switched rooms with no notification because of a larger party which resulted in our party being placed in very cramped quarters - totally inappropriate for our party's size. This was after verifying the room and arrangements the morning of and being told all was ready - nothing like being blindsided! I guess booking as many events as possible is more important then customer comfort and satisfaction. My advice to anyone planning an event in this particular restaurant would be to get all particulars in writing and leave a deposit for the room selected/confirmed. read more

I came here after a funeral, and my meal was the saddest thing about my day. But seriously folks... I've actually been here several times, and while it's a very charming looking place from the outside, the food the last time couple of times have been incredibly disappointing. The content of the menu is torn between good 'ol fashioned rustic cabin cooking and pseudo-fancy city restaurant, but the pricing hews to the fancy/city side. The Black Angus Meatloaf was drenched in a sickly sweet sauce that made me want to ask the ownership to come out and personally apologize to my Mom for the insultingly false "better than Mom's" menu blurb. Speaking of Mom, she - who never complains about anything - was pretty unhappy with her Chicken Parm, which looked and tasted more like a frozen chicken cutlet microwaved to melt some cheese on top than a real Italian classic. My cousin ordered the burger, which came out overcooked compared to her requested order. I've had better experiences here in the past, but this last time was so disappointing, I don't plan on coming back. Unless there's another Gate of Heaven service with a post-funeral lunch here. Im a regular here and love the food. I love the clam pizza to the cold meatloaf sandwich. However, I have noticed that the service has started to go downhill. I took my family for my wife's 35th bday. The service was awful. It took me to go to the manager to even get a first round of drinks. They brought out the main dish pizza for me and my son before the appetizers even came out. And the solution...one free drink. To their credit they did sing for my wife's bday. I have to drive my kids over the Tappan Zee *alot*. Sometimes, the traffic is so bad Waze sends me over secondary roads. One night, it was rainy and the traffic was insane, and I saw all kinds of parts of White Plains on my Waze. At one point, we came to an intersection and I saw 'The Cabin' and fell in love - there was just about something about it, and its full parking lot, which screamed 'local landmark' - and I filed it away for later. Last week, I finally brought my kids there. The inside is definitely Cabin-y, cozy, and busy, although the some of the decor was less authentic then I had hoped. They out the pizza oven out in the dining room, which is a nice touch. There is an attached bar which is massive and was fully manned by dudes who look like they spend a lot of Sundays there. A few widescreens with sports. I really liked the size and atmosphere of the bar. I don't drink a lot, but if I had my choice, I would go to this bar. Much of the dining room that day seemed much older, like 60+, and many came in larger groups. There is a robust kids menu of the common offerings - chicken tenders, mini-burgers, grilled cheese, etc. The general menu, as I had hoped, was on the large side with good variety of American eats and pizza. I ordered the Thanksgiving Sandwich and Cabin Bloody Mary. The kids had the 2-mini burger and grilled cheese. I ordered a Shrimp Cocktail to share. I wish they had had crayons for the kids as it took a little bit for the food to arrive and they were antsy. The shrimp cocktail was beautiful, our whole family loves shrimp and Jumbo shrimp were huge and looked great. Unfortunately, each of us took a bite and made a face. They were flavorless with a soapy aftertaste. It was the first time I've sent anything back in years. This might sound like a review killer but I considered it an anomaly, the waitress was glad to bring it back, and it didn't spoil our meal in any way. When the food came out, everyone's eye popped out of their head, because each dish was comprised of MASSIVE portions. The kid's grilled cheese was huge - my daughter's 'two mini burgers' we simply two regular cheeseburgers. A normal adult would need to be on the brink of starvation to finish my Thanksgiving sandwich, which featured at least 6-7 large slabs of turkey. Everyone liked their food very much and tummies were full and satisfied. The price I considered to be perfect, and definitely a bargain considering the portions. The waitress forgot to deduct our shrimp cocktail, but caught her own mistake and fixed it immediately. I had also noticed earlier in the meal when my daughter went to use the ladies room, some older folks were kind of caught up in conversation and blocking the door - the waitress saw this and immediately and politely asked the folks to step aside - very thoughtful. Overall the waitress seemed busy but polite and friendly. I would gladly go to The Cabin again for drinks and apps with friends and/or to bring the kids. Great place!! Our Thanksgiving plans were canceled when a family member contacted COVID19 so we scrambled looking for a place w/out needing a reservation.
