So, not overly impressed w/ this place. I was excited to see a Sea Food place open up over here and had high expectations. So, first, the positives. Hush puppies were really good and their plating portions are very good. And they play good country music in the background while you eat. And it's not so loud that you cannot carry on a conversation. Now, the negatives. I had the grilled white fish w/ a side of fried shrimp, fries and veggie plate. The food overall was average, nothing special at all. But two things really irritated me. One, they charged me $6.00 for a side of shrimp after I already ordered my fish. $6.00 just seems a bit much for an Add On of food. I could understand if that was the only thing I ordered. And two, they ask you for a tip when you place your order and pay at the beginning and there really is no wait service! They do bring out your food. But you get your drinks (and your refills) and your silverware and napkins and such. read more

Stepped in looking to satisfy my craving for some catfish and hush puppies. It wasn't to crazy busy with bar having what looked like regulars. Stood waiting for what seemed like 5 minutes. Asked if for a beer and she said it's easier on the bartender if you just order from the bar. Order taker said it came with fries and hush puppies. Got order no hush puppies. Questioned the person at register and she said oh we are out and it's a garnishment. Pretty flippant about everything and this has been experience on the past visits with exception. A really solid addition to the south Arlington area, tasty seafood served by friendly folks. The fried items are lightly battered and come out fresh. Their etouffee is very flavourful but was served at room temperature, gumbo is packed with proteins and not just cheap rice as a filler. Side standouts include the excellent hush puppies and well seasoned fries. Do yourself a favour and avoid the disgusting and overly greasy grilled veggies, they're an oily mushy mess of veg and onions that no one should be subjected to. Beers are served in cold schooners and are reasonably priced. It gets noisy and during busy times the tables are messy because the staff is busy keeping up running orders, but that shouldn't be enough to deter you from trying something new. read more

Will definitely return to this spot. My husband was craving catfish so we decided to give this place a try. We were not disappointed. I had the shrimp and crawfish and my husband had the fish and shrimp. We also shared a cup of gumbo. The gumbo was ok. My husband enjoyed it more than i did. But the fried fish, shrimp and crawfish was really good. It was served hot and fresh. The shrimp are big and juicy. And not overcooked. The service at this locatiin Irving, T. is AWFUL. The so called "General Manager" I think his name is Joe or Josh is unprofessional looking, not friendly, moody and just not inviting. The lady at the bar does a great job accommodating customers and she appears to be well liked and pleasant. Poor thing is always pulled in so many different directions - cooking, doing dishes, running the register and working the bar so sometimes there is a long wait at the bar. All while the others are outside in the parking lot smoking! The food would be much better is there was some attention to detail. Quite disappointing. read more

This place was absolutely packed! From arrival until the time we left the line remained out the door despite the incredibly quick service. It was just that good. The wait after ordering was not long at all. We may have waited 10-15 minutes. Served Fresh food in a neat laid back environment! Entire family was super satisfied with their meals. I did something here I don't normally do: went on their opening night. Usually it's a big mistake so I went with a really open mind. It was INCREDIBLE! I've been back numerous times since with normally great results. Their food is super consistent. Catch fried fish is my go-to, along with their awesome clam chowder (it has bacon in it!). Farm raised catfish is good too but more fishy. Chicken tenders are solid. Fried cod is good. Gumbo is excellent. Shrimp is excellent. My only complaint: sometimes they are just a tad understaffed at the register. I've waited in line out the door while only one register takes orders. Overall I love this place though. I strongly believe you are better off going to razoos. It's pretty basic, I believe the ratings are a bit off. The prices are about average but I don't the think the food is worth the price. Decent service but overall I wouldn't make the trip just eat here. My shrimp etoufee came with 3 baby shrimp, i had to ask for more. The fried shrimp were good but nothing that I haven't tasted. I used to love this place, but no more. Had our first visit tonight and we will be back. The place was rollicking on a mild Friday night so the patio was packed. They've done a good job renovating the old depressing Mijo's space. With the crowds they've got they should take out a couple of tables as it's hard to maneuver. Got an order of fried green tomatoes, a fried shrimp basket, a shrimp and oyster combo, some extra hush puppies, and an order of garlic bread. The fried green tomatoes were disappointing. They came to table hot, the green tomatoes the right thickness and piquancy. The issue here was the batter; they were coated in a thick flat shell that was just tough; they were a tad too brown. They need to switch this dish to a much lighter batter. This place knows how to fry seafood. The jumbo shrimp were fresh, sweet, and deveined but thankfully not butterflied. Butterflying is a great way to ruin good shrimps. I would have preferred a slightly lighter batter but the quality of the shrimp made up for it. The fried oysters were equally good; fresh oysters perfectly fried. The fries would benefit from a dual fry method. They were ok but not perfect. The hush puppies were a bit too dense but still very good ( hey how bout some butter?!) The garlic bread. Weird stuff. One side is buttered and put on the flat top and griddles. It wasn't flipped over, so it's just soft on that side. It should be really good but it's just odd. Next time I'll request it be griddles on both sides. I nearly got the oysters WRs Rockefeller but didn't. A neighboring table got them and they looked fantastic. Give it a shot UPDATE 08.25.2019 This is my third visit. Disappointing to say the least. There seemed to be some indifference in the staff tonight. Wife ordered grilled shrimp, potatoes and corn mild, and slaw. I ordered the half in half of fried shrimp and shrimp etoufee. Cheese grits. Red beans and rice. We were going to share the sides. Fried shrimp were perfect as usual. The grilled shrimp were over seasoned, slathered in their spice rib, and then overcooked. The shrimp etoufee was horrible, unlike any I've ever had. The shrimp were small, a bit past prime, and there was no real sauce. This is not etoufee anywhere is Louisiana, or anywhere on earth. Corn and potatoes were ordered mild. They came with a hot sauce that was anything but. Inedible. I don't know what they are trying for here but it's awful. Red beans and rice were abysmal, again unlike any I've had in New Orleans, or anywhere else really. Instead of a rich dish this was basically a bowl of whole beans with an acrid taste with an oily greasy thin broth. It was the worst I've had ever. My wife noticed this on several other tables( another problem here, tables don't get cleared quickly) the seasoning here seems to just be cayenne and burned bay leaves. Cheese grits were not creamy but a weird dry gluey paste. Inedible. What's with the garlic bread? They grill it in the flattop on one side so it's toasty on one side, cold bread on the other. It's weird and unappetizing. Service is poor with obviously poor management. Never saw a manager on the floor or talking to customers. Maybe they're tired of complaints. It's very self serve but the manager better be on the floor. A fish stinks from the head up. I'm done. A disappointing meal. Wife ain't coming back, which pretty much means I ain't coming back. read more
