I took my friend here to celebrate her birthday and let's start with the highlights... The decor is kitschy cute and it was nice and cool in there which was much appreciated in this heatwave. She had a couple cocktails and really enjoyed them. We had the cheese breads (forgot the name) both ordered the French dip sliders and shared the creme brûlée. The portions were small but I know you're paying for atmosphere, etc. Now on to the bad... we both woke up the next day with terrible cramping and.. well to spare you the gory details, we both have been experiencing the symptoms of food poisoning for about 10 hours now. I wanted to call and inform them but they are closed for the holiday today so I sent an email through their website. With the prices/small portions, you would expect them to take a little more care with their food. This is a great bar to come for both a casual night and a special occasion. The service is excellent and the French dip sandwich surpassed all expectations. I'm not really a bar guy but I've been hitting up The Cauldron lately for it's unique atmosphere and superb drinks! It literally feels like Halloween all-year long with it's spooky decor and themed drinks. My favorite cocktails are the Hive Mind, which is smoky and citrusy Mezcal drink, and Greenman's Garden, a refreshing and sweet rum drink with cucumber. We made a quick stop for a night cap and dessert. The hubby had a lager beer (yellow can), it was okay. I had the bourbon and brimstone cocktail and we split the bread pudding. The cocktail was okay, it was a little too strong and perhaps the bartender ran out of thyme, and mint was added. The bread pudding was made with coconut and macadamia nuts, super moist, delicious and not overly sweet, the portion was enough share. The BEST parts were the ambiance, decor, and friendly service. The room we were seated in cast a shadow of a witch walking by followed by a cat, and apparitions on the glass wall. So cool. Came here with a girlfriend of mine for a ladies night out. The vibes were cute. Very dark witchy/vampy. Service was good. My margaritas were tasty and strong. The specialty drink wasn't worth the hype in my opinion. I'd rather have a margarita. We ordered the French dip sliders with garlic fries, so good, but our meatball dish~ not so much. Let's start with the food not all was bad. But the ones that were edible were just passable at best. The strawberry salad was the best thing followed by the french onion soup that was just ok. The dates were cold, the prosciutto was soggy and the sauce stayed on the plate a little too long. The chicken rosemary brie (where was the brie?) was not only cold, lacking flavor and the "creamy factor" you come to expect of brie you could also eat if in 2 bites the portion was so small. The filet mignon bites would it kill them to butter and actually toast the bread? And the filet was overcooked. But the worst dish were the wicked fries. I mean really screwing up fries? That is hard to do. Yet, the meat was so dry and the sauce so salty we simply couldn't eat it. Ended up telling the waiter to take it back. Sadly, we expected to enjoy our date night looking for a nice ambiance and that they have but, don't come here for the food. It was a busy night yet, there's really no excuse. We got food before we got silverware, had to ask for sharing plates sadly it was lacking all the way around. Was in desperate need of a drink over the weekend and we came across The Cauldron on Yelp! We pulled up around midnight and found that there was a good amount of parking. Their lot is pretty small, so I imagine on a busier night, parking could be difficult. I loved the purple and green lights that shone brightly on the outside of the building -- it definitely sets the vibe already before you even step foot inside. We walked in and were told we could grab a seat anywhere. We found a table and a male server quickly came over to us with menus and plenty of drink suggestions! He was super knowledgeable and tried to help us narrow down what drink we wanted. Definitely appreciate the attentiveness and how sweet the servers + bartenders are! We walked over to the bar to place our drink orders, where we decided on the French Margarita and the Cajun Peach Martini. I definitely preferred the French Margarita, which was so sweet and refreshing, to the point where I could barely taste the alcohol -- which I love LOL. The martini was a solid drink as well, it was just the cajun spice that gave it a pretty spicy aftertaste that I didn't entirely enjoy + the base of it was Ketel One vodka...and the bartenders here jussst might have a heavy hand LOL. (gotta appreciate that though!) Omg the ambience and decor of The Cauldron alone...I'm obsessed! They 100% nailed the theme for the bar, which is witch-y and Halloween/spooky kind of vibe. I want to give a 5 for service. Carter was a great host. We were on Yelp Waitlist and called as arrival time changed too quickly for us to make it to restaurant. He was courteous on phone and helpful when we arrived. Also, our server Jenna was great! Very knowledgeable about menu and when we had a problem, she took care of it right away. Overall, bar is fun with lots of creepy touches. Nice seating area and we enjoyed the vibe. We tried a couple of Martinis and Inside Out Whiskey drink. I came to the cauldron on a night that was pirate themed. It took some time to get in but what made the wait better was the "Purgatory Patio" just outside the front door. The drinks were strong and the vibe was spooky even though it was still September. We ordered a few snackies: the pretzel bites (delicious), the tartare (very rich), the shrimp wrapped in prosciutto (surprisingly, the flavors complemented one another) and the clam chowder (tasty). I also tried a few of their cocktails. The decor is amazing inside and perfect for those who love fall / Halloween / everything spooky and fun. My only suggestion is that the drink presentation should match the effort going into the restaurant's presentation. All they need is a spooky cup or a little extra flare put into the drinks.
