This is a very long , overdue update. But since my husband and I don't get out much anymore we decided to order from Grubhub and it was fresh when we received it. The regular size chicken tenders and curly fries were more than enough for me as I'm trying to cut down on the portions I eat (diet plan). My husband also got a cheese steak sandwich. Quality of the food continues to be fantastic. Eventually we will be able to get back into the scene and dine in again but in the mean time The Cheese Steak Shop has an awesome partnership with Grubhub and we are more than happy with the delivery experiences. read more

All 3 No cheese No onions Dry meat cooked without any seasoning Virtually no peppers Two: No peppers No mushrooms One: 2 mushroom pieces ( paid for xtra) $36.84 with the $5 tip (15% for take out) I've been here before, along with most of the others in the Bay Area. Been going here for years, literally through f4 different owners and never have I been treated like this. Never will I be returning. I placed my order online like I always do but I happen to make a mistake. I ordered it chicken instead of stake. I noticed right away as soon as I submitted the order I didn't see a cancellation option on the app it said to call. I called several times because they didn't answer when they finally did. I was like OK I made this mistake. Can you correct it for me and they said no because steak cost extra I said I can pay the difference they said no because I did the order online and it was separate. I asked if my order could be canceled or rejected so I can place it again correctly and they said no I called back again and asked one more time. Can you cancel my order and I was told no that my order was done already at 5:12 and I said my order was done in the two minutes that I placed it. He said no it's been five minutes and 30 something seconds. And I asked again my order is ready. It's not supposed to be ready until 530 for my pick up time. I was coming from Oakland so I was just gonna pick up my food on the way home so I ordered it with enough time for me to pick it up so I will wait for it as opposed to it waiting for me and getting cold. Instead, I got a soggy nasty sandwich to top it off not the meat I wanted but I know that's my mistake. My only thing I'm a longtime customer. It was a one time mistake. You could've charged me an extra side of meat when I got there. I would've been even willing to pay the price of an order of fries. then the employee dares to ask me why was I mad that my sandwich was done 18 minutes before. I also don't understand why he told me my sandwich was done at 5:12 but didn't send me a confirmation text until 521. They could've just canceled my order and let me submit it correctly and it would've been a done deal now they lost a reoccurring customer literally go every pay. Period. To top it off The king of Philly doesn't even look like the king of Philly anymore. It's half the meat. He was super courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable about his cheesesteaks. Antonio was on the grill and the man can cook! You could tell he was passionate about his craft. The experience was so bad that I didn't even get help and needed to leave a review. Only 2 people were working and the place was not even busy to the point where he kept telling me, "2 seconds". 2 seconds turned into 10 minutes waiting for them to just take my order. Ended up just walking out cause it's been over 10 minutes and my order was still not taken. Avoid this place at all costs. Management should look into hiring more people, or come in themselves and work so they can keep up with one guest who simply walks in the door. read more

I have been regularly ordering from this location (about once a week on average) and over the last couple months the quality has steadily declined. It started with sloppily made sandwiches where half of the meat is outside the roll. And then they cut way back on the sweat peppers. And now it appears they've cut back on cleaning as my latest sandwich was full of burnt chunks of previous orders. I wouldn't complain about a one-time issue so much but this is clearly a problem that is getting worse as time goes by. I've also been to the location and many times and have seen arguments between staff. I've never seen anything that looks like management. There is another location that is a little bit further away from me that still shows some pride in their product. I will be using them from now on. Shame. read more

This is a good cheese steak shop, the service was very good and the atmosphere was very welcoming. With the employees conversing with the customers, laughing and joking around with them while making their food. The music and tv channel were a really good selection too! It definitely made the vibe welcoming. When I got the food it was really warm in my hands and when I got home 15 minutes later... the food was still pretty warm! Shelter In Place Review: Ordered for pickup via Yelp, was finished on time. 2 King Phillies and the fries w/ cajun seasoning. All in, about 30 bucks. OK for what it is, luckily for me the sandwich was able to be 2 meals as there was a LOT of meat. Cheese seemed to be hidden under everything though. Vegetables were kind of half-effort-cut. This review is based solely on the customer service provided by Jennifer and the lack of cleanliness. I placed an online order and did not get a text and I didn't see the email confirmation. I did see the screen after my order was placed with the pick up time but was unable to retrieve the screen when we got there. I sent hubby in to pick up food at the designated time where he was immediately met with a very rude cashier named Jennifer that demanded he have the order number. He gave her the name, what the order contained and eventually I came in and even showed her the charge on my card and she simply said no number, no food. She even elaborated and said she saw my order but wouldn't do anything to assist without the order number. I asked her to please refund my money and she also refused. Not once once did she offer any help in trying to resend the number or help me find it. I eventually found the email under "heartland" which would have saved everyone some frustration had she tried to help and tell me that. I had to wait to wait 20 minutes longer than the stated pick up time which is not their fault they were busy but meanwhile she is mumbling she has the right to refuse service and she doesn't have to deal with people like me. She then left the 2 cooks who were slammed with orders while she called someone saying I was being aggressive with her?? While I continued to wait I looked around and saw how absolutely filthy the place was and that a can of RAID was in plain sight. Uggh gross! Instead of being confrontational with customers she should have been cleaning and helping her hardworking coworkers. After I already got home I got not 1 but 2 texts saying my food is ready for pick up with the order number. Seriously?!
