We visited the Claw House on a Friday for lunch. It was a gorgeous spring day so we definitely wanted to sit outside. We entered through the back porch to see the waitress. Inside, it was vacant. Luckily there was a table outside close to the dock and water and we were seated right away. Our server was very attentive and quick. We both ordered the fish tacos. One with fries and the other with coleslaw. We got our fish blackened, per our waiter's suggestion. He said it is the most flavorful option. The tacos were good! Nothing extraordinary, but it was a nice sized fish portion. The mango sauce was tasty, but the tacos were light on toppings. I wish there was more filling in the taco... Wow, my family and I were just passing by on our way to Wilmington and wanted to get a bite to eat. I saw this place on Yelp, and I was confused on how it was the highest ranked restaurant in the area. I also was questioning going, because of the prices of the food, don't let that fool you, because these meals can easily feed 2. Pretzel bites were an 8/10, the cheese sauce was great. Surf and turf skewers were great, 9/10. The last appetizer we had was the Casino Dip, it was amazing easily 10/10. I ordered the grouper, it was a amazing and so was the risotto that came with it, 10/10. My dad said that his Shrimp Low-Country Boil and his raw oysters were a 9/10 and my moms shrimp and grits was an 8/10. The service was also great, food came out quick and the waitress was friendly. I think all the positive reviews must be paid reviewers. We went on Monday 7-31. The food was definitely not worth the price! The only thing semi worth the price was the all you can eat crab legs. Even tho they were really soggy - they came out quickly once my husband ordered more. My son had the grouper / crab cake stack for 30 dollars. It literally had 1/2 a cup of rice, 2 small pieces of grouper with a crab cake in the middle. He was still hungry after eating his dinner. I attempted to have the grouper and risotto. Inedible. The grouper was slimey and the risotto was cold. Sent it back and had the wedge salad with ranch instead of bleu cheese. Later that night, I developed food poisoning. The ONLY person in my whole family to get sick, which made for a long car ride home. We figured it was from the ranch or the few bites of fish since I was the only one that ate it. The special sauce in the side makes the oysters come alive and wiggle in their half shells. Toss the crackers, put a little horseradish-cocktail sauce, douse with special sauce and slurp it down (repeat repeat repeat)! We split the broiled sampler. It was cooked perfectly and portions large enough to share if you don't want to take anything home. Came with slaw but we ordered another as second side (too good to share). I finished with key lime pie and it was wonder. Don't know if made in-house, but too good to be store bought! So why the 4-stars? Sorry to say the service brought down the experience. Dinner came out before fresh oysters because "two separate departments". Servers should be on top of coordinating customer preferences. We got plastic cups of water while others around us had water glasses and straws. Beers arrived open with no chilled glass option, coasters, or napkins to contain the sweat. Had to ask for crackers (before I knew about the secret sauce) but I love a cracker with cocktail sauce while waiting for food. Porch is LOUD, but especially when large groups are drinking and laughing. Bring earplugs if sensitive! I will go again on my next trip to the area! read more

Would go again for oysters down here. The ceviche was tasty but not really ceviche. It's mostly avocado. Fairly expensive for that, too. But decent nonetheless. The lobster roll we got hot. I don't recommend it. It's very small for the price. We split it and it would've been light for one. But we got full off the apps and beers. I still give it 4 stars. Why? Myrtle Beach has a lot of dumpy restaurants. This was some of the best food I've had here. Went with hubby and got the crab and lobster lettuce wrap. It was loaded with lobster set on top of a generous amount of crab, a slice of tomato set into 2 pieces of butter lettuce with a few slices of avocado on top. They served the sriracha mayo on the side for me. The avocado had large sections of bruised fruit in it . . I would not have served that at home, much less in a restaurant, but even with removing it there was plenty of avocado. What was impressive was there were 2 lettuce wraps and the lobster was literally spilling out it was so generously filled. Friends came to visit and THEY WANTED LOBSTER WRAPS! So off we went a second day and we ALL got the crab and lobster lettuce wraps. This time no bruised avocado on any of the wraps. But, they were not as generously filled as the day before. There certainly was a lot less lobster in them. But, everyone still enjoyed the wraps. Hubby and friends ordered selections of Cheesecake and Key Lime pie. No dessert for me as the waiter said nothing was gluten free . . bummer! I don't know current covid rules for SC but they were seating back to back and certainly not 6ft apart. You MUST see the fish tank in the lobby. The food is great and the fact they are PLASTIC free is music to my ears. Happy hour and dinner was very good. Skewers were impeccable, fish and meat were both juicy. Kids meals come with apple sauce or fries and are decent portions. Overall a great place you can sit inside or out. My husband and I were so excited to try this restaurant. Based on the menu and reviews it looked like a fantastic seafood place. I dont know if I've ever been so disappointed in a restaurant before. First of all, we were disgusted by the fact that we saw a cockroach not once, but twice on the covered patio. I wish we would have just left right then and there but we chalked it up to being outside and against better judgment stayed to finish our meal. We addressed it with the manager and he was minorly apologetic but that was about it. Then the food.... Our calamari appetizer was soggy, greasy and a joke of a portion size for $15. The biggest disappointment for me was my $35 seafood platter. My fish was overcooked, the shrimp was mediocre at best and although my scallops were cooked well the dish overall was underwhelming and bland. I am astonished that this dish and this place has such good reviews. I opted for onion rings as a side and they tasted like fast food quality. No one in my party was pleased with their food and we actually all left still feeling hungry but weren't about to order dessert after eveything else being such a let down. The only thing I actually enjoyed was my hazy IPA. However, I also found it disappointing and suprising that they dont offer flights of beer with how many different ones they have on tap. Came here for a dads birthday: of it being fairly new I didn't know if it would be packed so I called to make reservations... They do not take reservations but the lady on the phone was the most pleasant person I have spoke to in a while. She told me although they don't take reservations she could still write down that a group of x amount of people will be coming at x time. Very sweet, personable and attentive! Very tasty, hit the spot. My husband got the pesto chicken pasta, and wasn't too impressed the chicken was somewhat dry and the pasta could have had more pesto on it. Likely kept warm for too long. Just left The Claw House.... after a giant cockroach walked across our indoor table (nowhere near the door) and our check was subsequently discounted 10% after we could no longer eat our food. Unreal. 10%! After a monster insect crawled across our table as we ate our meal! We didn't argue the cockroach discount bc we aren't those people, but it's pretty alarming to me that they felt that experience only warranted $5 off our meal. The manager nonchalantly said, "it's just that time of year." There is no time of year when behemoth bugs should crawl across your lunch. read more

This experience was before the COVID I was Very excited to be going here for my birthday as I love love lobster. But it ended up being my worst experience ever!!! This review has nothing to do with the cost of the food !!! My lobster when cracked open had water pouring out of it and it was tough as shoe leather I guess it was a reheat of a lobster that had already been cooked at one point All of the sides were cold as were my families entrees and it was on a week night and not even busy I never got comped or a discount or a replacement meal or a sorry Since I live only a few miles from here it is sad that I will never go here again read more

My husband & I went here on a Wed. night during fall bike week. There were cars everywhere outside & I was prepared for a long wait. The area was buzzing. We sat at the bar & ordered a very cold glass of Reisling & a Bud Light from the great bartender but our table was ready in about 5-10 min. We had a great table under roof but outside. My family and I ordered several appetizers, and every bit of what we ordered was fantastic. We went for lunch on Sunday and couldn't have been more pleased with the food and service. Ambiance was nice also which was great because some of the neighboring restaurants lack in scenery and cleanliness. The mussels marinara were by far the best we have ever had and the crab nachos with wontons are so tasty. The nachos were nicely layered so everything was well spread out. All of the seafood we had was fresh and perfectly prepared. Hands down one of our more memorable restaurant visits in Murrels Inlet. I would certainly recommend trying Claw House. Our waitress was friendly. We started with beer wine and oysters on the half shell. I asked for some recommendations for dinner she suggested two things both of which we were not really interested in. Decided on the wedge salad and the grilled seafood platter. As we sat there noticed several trips made with crab legs. We were done and had been sitting awhile when another waiter came up and asked how we were and let us know she had asked him to check on us because she had a very large party she was closing out. We appreciated that she sent someone to take care of us and letting us know the situation. As we were talking to him this new waiter informed us it was AYCE crab legs today. Our dinner was good. The wedge salad is very impressive but honestly we would have preferred the crab legs had we known. Overall good experience but felt disappointed in our waitress. If I am asking for recommendations seems natural to suggest the special. She probably was overwhelmed and just one of those nights. The new waiter also told us about the beer garden underneath that had spiked hot chocolate. So we stopped there as we were leaving and tried two versions and both were excellent. I have ate here about 3 times this month and the only complaint I have is this place isn't closer to me. After reading a recent review, I feel that I have to reassure you because I don't want you to miss out on an amazing place. Here goes.... ***As I said before, I have ate here 3 times this month and 3 other occasions while traveling through. I have never, I mean NeVeR seen any bugs, especially roaches (or I would second guess eating there) on any occasion! This is one place I would bring someone to if I wanted to leave a positive lasting impression on them. The food is outstanding! The service is surprisingly fast given the volume of people that are there when I have been there. The staff are also professional and friendly down to earth people. This place is a must if you are visiting! Last, I want to thank The Claw House for another amazing time while visiting the beach! You all not only have an amazing menu, but a great staff as well!
