Customer service is a 5 from the moment we walked in to ordering to leaving. So polite and very welcoming, the place is small so it has limited seating with a couple tables out front. Parking is available in the back or side street right in front of the cafe. Ordered the Cliffs Breakfast Sandwhich and the Avocado Toast, both were very filling and delicious. The avocado and toast for $9.25 was a bit much for me and adding the egg and pesto for $5-6 more didn't help much either. It was very good though, but probably order something different given what you get. Uploaded the menu prices for a more up to date one.

I'm so glad I finally checked this spot out. First off, it's absolutely adorable inside. I loved all the Easter decor. And secondly, the staff was so friendly and lovely to be around. I'm typically not a huge breakfast person, but this breakfast burrito was FANTASTIC. Like, sooo good. Can't wait to come back and try more off the menu.

Even though there are many breakfast and brunch spots to choose from in San Diego, I always circle back here because I know the food never misses. Dropped by again recently during a day trip and tried the Green Eggs and Ham on an everything bagel. Sensational. Loved every bite of it. In addition to the great food, the service is always impeccable. No matter how busy it is, and believe me this place can get pretty damn busy, they always get the food out in less than ten minutes. Cliffs is a cool place to drop by when in SD and you are looking for something good to have for breakfast. I promise that it will not disappoint.

This review is solely based on the breakfast burrito alone. The one word I have for it - BOMB. The café itself is so cute. Really great ambiance and very nice and cozy. They had so many coffee and smoothie options. Looking forward to grabbing a drink the next time I come back here. I ordered the breakfast burrito 2.0. This burrito was stacked. (Scrambled eggs, bacon, corn beef hash, sausage, onions, roasted potatoes, fire roasted chilies, and cheddar cheese.) Tasted super meaty and the eggs and potatoes were cooked just right. Burritos come with salsa and sour cream upon request. My only complaint is that for such a stacked burrito, they only gave one small container of salsa. I recommend requesting an additional.

This is one of the cutest and chillest cafes I've visited in San Diego. It's pretty tiny, no more than 20 people can fit inside. There's a handful of tables outside for sitting as well. The staff was fast and bubbly which is always a plus. The drink menu was dope. The speciality drinks and blended drinks seemed complex and you can't go wrong with any option. It all seemed super thoughtful. There's also frapples, smoothies, and your regular drips and lattes if you want something a bit more simple. Large menu for food but the food was a bit better than average in my opinion. Wouldn't run back to get food here but wouldn't be opposed. Basically.. it didn't blow my mind. We went with the: Greek Omelet Breakfast which consist of feta, spinach, bell peppers, tomatoes and oregano. Served with your choice of fruit, potatoes or hashbrowns and toast. Cliff's Delight which cosist of scrambled eggs, sun dried tomato, avocado, fresh basil, and goat cheese on pita bread. The omlete was the better of the two. The sandwich didn't smack and wasn't really filling. But it tasted super fresh and light. The menu in general has a lot of healthy options. Smooth place with good vibes, solid food, even better drinks, and perfect for a early morning coffee run.

Holy smokes this place hit the spot! Started out with impeccable service food came out hot tasty and fresh. The breakfast burrito potato to meat to egg ratio was fantastic. The green goddess bagel came out on a fresh. Everything bagel absolutely tasty and or outdoor seating perfect for a sunny day. We will be coming back!!

We visited this location after running along the cliffs. There was a lot of options to choose from and we were there around 9 and there was limited seating. Fortunately there was enough space for 4. The menu has a lot of options and we went with omelet and acai bowl. The build your own omelette was helpful as I got to choose what I wanted and it was delicious. The acai bowl on the other hand was good but it was more watery than most acai bowls we've had. The water station has these really small cups that you can use more than once but a funny feeling as it is already wet. The decor gave the location a cafe vibe and the service was nice and helpful. Their register does seem a bit older there were some specific modifications that they could not do because the register system did not allow it. Overall we enjoyed our time.

Pesto chicken panini was sooo delicious! Filling but light at the same time. Such a cute & intimate cafe. Best part was our host, Andrea!!! The sweetest gem in SD

One of the best little breakfast spots in OB! We have been in love with everything we have tried on the menu thus far and crave their frappes. I went here a couple weeks ago and ordered a bagel and cream cheese that cost close to five dollars, I didn't tip and the rude waitress with the long brown black curly hair let my food sit on the counter and then pushed it towards me and said "this is yours" after 5 minutes. Went back today and she started screaming at me in front of customers that I was being rude by standing and waiting for my food. Absolute obnoxious cashier who used to be completely nice to me until I stopped tipping but paying five dollars to have a bagel thrown at you really isn't worth a tip. Read the owner's comments, he misstates what happened but it's to be expected, he never reached out to me to discuss so it's a one sided story that he received, moral of the story, tip your waitress on a $4 bagel or get poor service, try Newbreak Coffee, good eats, great location, good customer service, Jorge if you want the truth, I'm happy to speak with you or read it here Update: Jorge did reach out and was respectful. Can't say enough about this place! Best iced dirty chai I've ever had. A great space to get breakfast, lunch, a snack, or just coffee. My friends and I worked on our laptops for a couple hours with their complementary Wifi. Andrea is seriously the nicest human and remembered my friends and I the next day we came because of course we had to come back! I also recommend the açaí bowls! This is an amazing cafe! The customer service is beyond that of anywhere I've visited in San Diego (which is saying a lot because the customer service everywhere we've gone has been wonderful). I love how they greet their regulars by name and talk about topics they've obviously spoken about previously like they're old friends. I loved the quality of the food and coffee! Everything was so fresh and great portions for the price! This is a place I'll visit again and again and hopefully become a regular if I ever move nearby. Chill environment, food is exactly what you order, no big frills but still delicious, always hitting the spot. They have a huge list of possible accompanying beverages: coffee of all kinds, even Vietnamese coffee, loose leaf green, black and herbal teas or your typical latte blends, a huge list of smoothies and a unique list of frappes- this place really does have it all. Health junkies will love the açaí bowls with heaps of fruit, kids will enjoy the more basic pancakes and French toast, everyone can enjoy no-fuss breakfast sandwiches that are flavorful and well made, but no additions of the too-oft-used micro-green toppings. I recently moved to OB and have been looking for nice cafes to get quick breakfast/lunch and this place did not disappoint! I first went with my boyfriend and we got breakfast sandwiches on bagels and an iced chai latte. The second time I took a friend and I got a breakfast plate (eggs, hash browns, sausage, toast). Each visit we had exceptional customer service and the food was made pretty quickly. Definitely found my new little neighborhood spot. read more

My friend & I went here yesterday... The second star is for the nice guy at the counter. Other than his friendly demeanor, I would not advice this restaurant. The menu taped to the front window was filled with dead flies. (Ew but okay..) Both my friend and her order was messed up & the meals had to be "remade". She has an allergy to cheese and the error with the first bowl had cheese when she said explicitly no cheese. After eating through part of the "corrected" bowl, my friend discovered cheese was still baked on the side of the bowl.. meaning they just had taken off the cheese off the top. My friend was violently was puking last night. Literally horrible. read more

This is a decent breakfast cafe. It's a very small spot but doable. The service and food were great. It took me a bit to get a table outside because I had my dog. Things worked out great once I got a table. It would be great to see this cafe expand and offer more outdoor seating. Meanwhile, it is a great place to eat and is dog-friendly which I appreciate. My favorite breakfast spot in OB. My husband and I discovered this place after church one day and it's so cute! The employees are super friendly and the food is amazing! I had the French toast combo the first time and it was amazing the portion size was so big for the price! We played checkers and enjoyed a nice breakfast! I picked my sister up today who is in visiting and we both got Cliff sandwiches on an everything bagel and they were very good! The place was crowded (which is always a good sign on a weekday morning at 8:30 am) we got them to go because we live close. Everyone is just so friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend. read more

I had an iced vanilla chai latte and the power bowl. Both were so delicious! It was my first time at The Cliffs Cafe, but I definitely want to go back to try more of their breakfast options. I couldn't love this place anymore than I already do. Super cute and cozy interior with ~9 tables. Walk to the back, absorb everything on the chalk menu if you want but I suggest you cut to the bagel sandwiches. So. Darn. Good. Really awesome selection of drinks like matcha, Kombucha, you name it. Bottled selection is great and they also make a lot of blended/ frappé drinks. Vegan chia pudding will be the next thing I put a fork into and devour like a wild beast. Or maybe one of those muffins lovingly wrapped in a craft paper wrapper. read more

I ordered a chocolate croissant and a chocolate chip & blueberry scone. They also offer day-old scones for $2, which I love that they offer to reduce food waste.

What made this worse was the employee's attitude--smirking and appearing amused rather than providing basic customer service. This was not a request for anything free. It was a reasonable, paid customization that other Starbucks locations have accommodated without issue. Because of this interaction, my husband and I chose not to purchase anything and left feeling disrespected--on the first day of our 30th wedding anniversary. This level of service is unacceptable and not what your brand represents. I expect this to be addressed.

Ruined our morning. Stopped in to get our breakfast to go to share with someone. Ordered an egg burrito and specifically said NO onions. Took almost 30 minutes to get the burrito with no apology for the horrible service. Wait staff all seemed clueless. When we got home burrito had huge onion slices, 80% hard undercooked potatoes, with almost no egg. Gross and inedible and we threw it in the trash. Waste of time and money. Love the location on Abbott and have never had one issue. Will NEVER visit this location again. read more

I have never wrote a review and never thought I would. This place is really vibey and has great energy. I was reading their reviews and from the looks of it, a lot of other people have a similar experience to mine. I don't usually drink black coffee but the vanilla nut has the best taste and smell I have come across any coffee bean. Came down for a business meeting and ended up at this gem. I became an instant fan, it was packed when I went this morning but the barista was really friendly and had great customer service!
