Nice little cafe. Vietnamese coffee was great! Food was above average. I'd visit again

We got muffins, açaí and the burrito. All were super delicious and well priced. Pretty sure we will eat here daily on this trip.

I really want to - and try to - support local businesses, but this place always takes forever. And not in a "were just too good and have too many customers" kind of way. It's like 15 minutes at a non-rush hour for a basic smoothie because the cashier is taking orders and cleaning and then makes eye contact with you and remembers to make your smoothie. It's happened on multiple occasions. Their food is decent and so are the drinks, but be prepared for a long wait for average stuff. read more

Everything on the menu is delicious I've been trying out all the items for the last month I'm addicted to that cooking coming from that kitchen! Healthy food items and juice and even French toast Cliffs cafe has it all and the staff is always so polite if you're in the area or a local I highly recommend making this your go to spot! read more

Food is good but service sucks. Dirty tables, unfriendly staff. Came in today on late Saturday morning and the server seemed to make it a point not to make eye contact at all. Weak coffee. Ordered their signature breakfast sandwich and it tasted bland and rubbery as if microwaved? And a bagel toasted with butter, and bagel was warm as if put in a toaster but not at all toasted - ie still white (If I put a steak on a grill for 30 seconds is it cooked?). Oh and when I got home and unwrapped the bagel a fly flew out of the wrapper. I'm new to the neighborhood and have them 2 chances... Very friendly staff. It's definitely their priority. I go to restaurants for good food as the priority,if friendly people that's a nice bonus, but not going to bury the lack of care about the quality of the food... read more

One of my fav places to get bfast/lunch at. The med. egg white sandwich on a sesame seed bagel is SO GOOD.

Stayed in San Diego for a vacation and stopped by this place for breakfast, the first time I came I got a cold brew French vanilla and it was the most AMAZING coffee I've ever had, I also got the pancake combo and again... AMAZING. I had to stop by a second time to get that coffee because it was just so dang good. 10/10 recommend!! And the girl in the front (I didn't get her name) was just the sweetest!! read more

Great Service! I was seated right away and they took and processed my order quickly. I simply ordered a Full stack of pancakes and the wait staff charged me for the "All You Can Eat" Special they had going on for significantly less. I was unaware of the special so that was Super nice of them. I'll definitely go back again! read more

Grabbed a breakfast sandwich to go on the way to Dog Beach and was very impressed. It was bacon, sausage, egg, cheese and a yummy layer of hashbrowns on top. The place itself has a beachy vibe with an ocean view and free wifi, perfect for getting light work done. Would definitely come here again for breakfast! read more

Not sure why this place gets good reviews. We walked in on a Friday morning around 8:15 and there was one unoccupied table which was still covered in spilled food and used coffee mugs. We didn't know if we should wait for someone to seat us so just seated ourselves at the dirty table. The rest of the place was not that clean either. The place is small -maybe 10 or so tables..We waited 10 minutes and no one acknowledged us or moved to clean up. Left and won't be back. read more

Had two breakfasts at Cliffs Cafe on our trip. All 4 of us thought it was amazing!! Highly recommend.

It's unfortunate how terrible the management treats their staff. This place could be a potentially great cafe...if the dishes were properly cleaned and health code was followed. The coffee is stale unless your an early bird and get there when they first open. It sits there for hours until it's all used up, and for the bagels and pastries....good luck getting a fresh one. The turnover is very low and the owner is too cheap to keep everything fresh so both the bagels and pastries could be sitting there for a good 3-4 days before they are sold. As for the "fresh squeezed oj," it comes out of a carton. read more

Great little place! I LOVE that they'll put hummus on bagels as an alternative to cream cheese! Perfect for vegans :). They also have super tasty wrap sandwiches. My husband loved his vegan wrap. We came in this morning and ordered 3 bagel sandwiches, a pancake burrito and the tropical delight acai bowl with a screamin banana frappe and 4 coffees. First off, the service was awesome all the way around. My daughter loved her pancake burrito. She was nice enough to give me one, count em one, bite and i can see why she was so stingy! The pancake with the syrup was amazing. All of my guys liked their sandwiches too. They actually toast their bagels unlike the donut shop next door who we have never received a toasted bun from even though we ask every time. My acai bowl was fantastic and huge! My first and only yelp review ever because I'm HANGRY. I just went in there to order a quick bagel and coffee to go home and enjoy. I ended up waiting 15 min, standing around while other people who got there after me were being served first. I go ask how long it will take and ends up the cashier never put the order in at all. At this point I'm so hungry and frustrated, I don't want to wait around anymore, so I ask for my money back. The cashier is unapologetic and very casual about it. I waited around for nothing, wasting time on my Sunday morning. What should have been a 10 minute food pick up for a bagel ended up being 30 minutes. I love their food but sadly their service isn't the best. read more

I love going to Cliff's. In my experience they offer great customer service with good food and coffee. The owners are funny and good people. Today, I am eating their Huevos Rancheros and I am very pleased. It hit the spot w the eggs done just right and a nice surprise of two different types of beans. Super yummy. I love their Funky Monkey frappe and Ive also had some of their Open Face Bagels like the Ultimate Salmon and the Greek Goddess and they are outrageously good :p Super satisfying. I feel like their serving sizes are very generous and I usually take half home to share or for another meal later, so that's nice and convenient . If you are in the mood for something small, they have great coffee and pastries or you can just order a kids meal even if you are a big kid like me :) They are under "Mini Cliff's" on the menu. Yup, I totally recommend this spot, nice vibe, close to the beach and dog friendly. I love coming here to do work on my laptop and soak in the OB vibes. I highly recommend Cliff's Cafe. read more

I'm a breakfast lover and I'm always looking to try breakfast in new places. This place has a great menu and caters towards the health conscious and the athlete - of which I am both. We came back the second day because it was so good and when we walked in we were greeted by our first names from one of the employees. We had only met them once! My run on Sunset Cliffs.. which has been more of a run/walk lately.. would not be complete without a visit to Newbreak where I buy my Birchermuesli (muse muse or muesli for short!)! Muse Muse is a combination of oats, yogurt, and fruit, made fresh daily... and... the kicker... is LOW CALORIE! Great place to meet up with friends for coffee / smoothies / breakfast / lunch.. and study for the NCLEX nursing exam...ick. I love inviting my dog along too! I made a visit to this coffee shop @ 0700 before work To grab a bite to eat and coffee. The woman was in the kitchen And did not acknowledge that I had been standing there waiting to order for 5 min. After being noticed she said she would be with me in a moment., after waiting she never attended to her original agreement. A man walked in and walked up to the counter and immediately the woman came out from the back to take his order. I was upset and walked out. I drove down to the drive thurs coffee place In a mobile drive thru and got excellent service and the gentleman was very friendly! Overall I give D coffee no stars! Horrible customer service! This place has a great food and coffee selection so I normally love coming here but the service is not the greatest. Have waited about 15-20 for a sandwich before, not a panini, just a regular sandwich. That was kindof a bummer. Recently went in, there were 2 people sitting in the restaurant and no one else, after being told to hold on I proceeded to wait (I timed it) 7 mins in front of the register ready to order and whoever was working on this particular Tuesday morning decided to keep me waiting so I just left. I'm not prepared to wait 10 mins to take my order only for my food to take another 10-15, that's just ridiculous.
