A quick breakfast during my morning walk in OB on vacation last week. I ordered the chilaquiles with fried eggs. Green sauce was tangy, cheese was feta not queso fresca but avocado was plentiful. I should have ordered the eggs more done, and hold the sour cream but this was a pretty great dish at a reasonable price. Counter service was very friendly and patient while I tried to decide what I wanted. Dining room was bathed in sunshine and I roasted my back while consuming my meal. I came here twice during my weekend visit here at Ocean Beach. It was a quick walk from the AirBnb I was staying in the area with some friends. I tried the iced coffee and iced caramel macchiato- would recommend either, absolutely delicious!! I also tried one of the breakfast sandwiches; I got the cliffs on a toasted plain bagel. I loved it!! It was really filling and the bagel was stuffed with egg cheese sausage. Would highly recommend coming here to try breakfast/brunch and coffee!!! For the price and quality it is worth it! There is some seating inside and outside, no bathroom available though, fyi! You order and then pick a spot to sit or you can do take out. I love me a good medium roast with steamed 1/2 & 1/2 and cinnamon. They have an amazing coffee brand called 'Peerless' and it slaps! I went with the Mexican medium roast and it was exactly what I wanted. Strong yet smooth. Two girls running the shop with great smiles and our orders came out quick. On the plus side, the staff is very nice and accommodating. The food was acceptable but avoid the potatoes. They were really gross. They were nice enough to let me get fruit instead. The latte was very strong but I asked her to remove a third and add more cream and then it was good. My husband liked his breakfast burrito but it wasn't the best he'd had--more middle of the road. In OB for only two days and we went here both mornings. Everything is worth it, from coffee to the açaí to the burritos. We enjoyed the casual dining and short wait for our food with ample tables. I highly recommend trying The Cliffs Cafe! read more

They are good with dietary restrictions; in all our time there (with many orders) they have never once messed up our food. The staff are all super sweet, especially Andrea!! Wow - stopped in this place for a late breakfast on a Sunday. Scoped out the menu and decided on a breakfast burrito and a latte for myself, and my partner ordered the spicy egg white bagel with a matcha. We ordered at the counter and the server was very friendly and helpful when we had questions or needed suggestions. We sat outside at a table by the street and before long she delivered our drinks (the place was fairly busy on a Sunday morning). The food came out shortly after and we were both blown away. I didn't feel very welcome; almost like I was an annoyance to the waitress lady. She kindly told me to go to Rite Aid down the street as I needed to use the bathroom. But it was closed. I had Cliffs cafe bookmarked for awhile and was happy to stumble upon it while out for a walk. We stopped in and my husband got a sunsets delight sandwich with toast instead of pita and I got the classic açai bowl. The person taking our order was very nice and friendly. I really don't enjoy giving small businesses low rating reviews and so a lot of the time in those cases I just don't leave a review at all. But in this case, this review could be seen as constructive criticism and they could possibly make some changes/quality control to better their business. My açai bowl..I'm sorry but it was overall the worst açai bowl I've ever had. Upon looking at it, the "fresh" fruit was very old and far past its prime. You can see from my photos by the looks of the strawberries and blueberries - they were verrrry old and no longer fresh at all. The blueberries were visibly very wrinkled, ultra soft/squishy and definitely not firm like fresh blueberries are. A nice, fresh ripe blueberry is firm and has a dark yet opaque grey look from the natural bloom that forms on the outside. The strawberries were not firm or plump and missing that sheen that nicely ripe strawberries have. One of the strawberries even had a little bit of mold growing on it (as seen in the photo). Those strawberries and blueberries should've gone in the trash many days ago- not to a paying customer. To think that they have berries of this level in their fridge thinking it's fine to give to a customer is beyond me and kind of scary. It's almost offensive. Not to say that the owner or manager or all the employees think this is okay - but whoever made this açai bowl clearly does not care. What a huge disappointment. When I removed all the berries and decided to taste the açai base - I could barely even do that because the long spoon was so thin and flimsy that it was very hard to get a scoop out because the handle would just bend everytime I tried to pull the spoon up (as seen in the posted video). It was kind of hilarious. The base was softer than it should've been, it turned runny pretty quick. My husband said his sunsets delight sandwich was okay. Not saying that every açai bowl or all the berries they sell are like this - but what I got was terrible. The berries were completely unacceptable and it unfortunately ruined my first experience and I don't know if I'd ever come back. read more

I am puppy sitting in OB this weekend so I decided to stop by here for breakfast. This is a very small place, seating is at a premium. I was getting annoyed watching people standing around looking for a table while people seated were finished eating and just sitting around playing on their phones. I ordered the breakfast burrito which so thought was average, however their salsa really added a nice kick to it. The girl at the register was very friendly and made a few suggestions to me. She was clearly very busy, but still made time to help me make a decision and she kept a smile on her face the entire time. I already had coffee, but saw a few people had coffee made for them. Every cup looked amazing, it made me wish I ordered some. The open faced bagel sandwich looked amazing as well, I try to avoid bread, but bagged seeing it, really wish I ordered it. I recommend trying this place out. They have a parking lot in the back that was full when I drove through. There is street parking as well, but this close to the ocean, be ready for parking to be tough. Also. As I mentioned earlier, finding a table maybe an issue as well. read more

This place is one of my favorite breakfast spots in OB. The woman that owns it is an absolute gem. Always professional, friendly and personable. Their food is very affordable and delicious. Their veggie breakfast burrito is my go to. Their homemade salsa is out of this world and always fresh! And their smoothies and shakes are all uniquely delicious. Not to mention, the inside is SO cute. Although it is tiny, it's inviting and cozy and there is some outdoor seating as well. Highly recommend trying this place out!
