A quick breakfast during my morning walk in OB on vacation last week. I ordered the chilaquiles with fried eggs. Green sauce was tangy, cheese was feta not queso fresca but avocado was plentiful. I should have ordered the eggs more done, and hold the sour cream but this was a pretty great dish at a reasonable price. Counter service was very friendly and patient while I tried to decide what I wanted. Dining room was bathed in sunshine and I roasted my back while consuming my meal. I would dine here again anytime, as their prices are really much better than any other restaurant nearby. read more

I came here twice during my weekend visit here at Ocean Beach. It was a quick walk from the AirBnb I was staying in the area with some friends. I tried the iced coffee and iced caramel macchiato- would recommend either, absolutely delicious!! I also tried one of the breakfast sandwiches; I got the cliffs on a toasted plain bagel. I loved it!! It was really filling and the bagel was stuffed with egg cheese sausage. Would highly recommend coming here to try breakfast/brunch and coffee!!! For the price and quality it is worth it! There is some seating inside and outside, no bathroom available though, fyi! You order and then pick a spot to sit or you can do take out. There is a mini line in the morning but it doesnt take very long. Everything is fresh!! read more

I got the Muscle Beach Bowl, and I love peanut butter and usually peanut butter smoothies don't have enough peanut butter to be tasted but this bowl.. if the bomb and has that yummy peanut buttery flavor. I love me a good medium roast with steamed 1/2 & 1/2 and cinnamon. They have an amazing coffee brand called 'Peerless' and it slaps! I went with the Mexican medium roast and it was exactly what I wanted. Strong yet smooth. Two girls running the shop with great smiles and our orders came out quick. On the plus side, the staff is very nice and accommodating. The food was acceptable but avoid the potatoes. They were really gross. They were nice enough to let me get fruit instead. The latte was very strong but I asked her to remove a third and add more cream and then it was good. My husband liked his breakfast burrito but it wasn't the best he'd had--more middle of the road. My kid found the Cliffs Cafe on Yelp and we went there for a pre- birthday breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised. Its a pretty chill spot, a spot OB locals seemed to enjoy. The young lady behind the counter, Andrea, was very friendly, greeting known customer and new customers with the same pleasantness. Cliffs Cafe is a staple breakfast in OB! The staff is so friendly and sweet, they are always willing to accommodate my dietary needs and they've never messed up a modification! Dropped in with a friend for coffee before heading back out to explore. My friend had gotten a breakfast bagel along with coffee and I must say that the bagel looked real good. Will plan on getting a bagel with my coffee next time! The place is small and has that community feel. There is street parking, seating inside and outside. Great place for grab n' go days. Wow - stopped in this place for a late breakfast on a Sunday. Scoped out the menu and decided on a breakfast burrito and a latte for myself, and my partner ordered the spicy egg white bagel with a matcha. We ordered at the counter and the server was very friendly and helpful when we had questions or needed suggestions. We sat outside at a table by the street and before long she delivered our drinks (the place was fairly busy on a Sunday morning). The food came out shortly after and we were both blown away. The burrito was HUGE and the flavor profile was ELECTRIC. The egg white sandwich was very good as well complimented by perfectly executed drinks. We will be back.... Tomorrow!! read more

This place is a small family owned business we have been coming to for years. Surprise it was delicious!They are not known for having many vegan options but...the kind folks that worked there insisted, they could make their power bowl vegan and guaranteed it would pass the taste test!!! A yummy breakfast spot and great way to start the day. We had the Mexican hot chocolate which was warm and delicious, a great way to warm up after walking over in the brisk morning air. I had Cliffs cafe bookmarked for awhile and was happy to stumble upon it while out for a walk. We stopped in and my husband got a sunsets delight sandwich with toast instead of pita and I got the classic açai bowl. The person taking our order was very nice and friendly. I really don't enjoy giving small businesses low rating reviews and so a lot of the time in those cases I just don't leave a review at all. But in this case, this review could be seen as constructive criticism and they could possibly make some changes/quality control to better their business. My açai bowl..I'm sorry but it was overall the worst açai bowl I've ever had. Upon looking at it, the "fresh" fruit was very old and far past its prime. You can see from my photos by the looks of the strawberries and blueberries - they were verrrry old and no longer fresh at all. The blueberries were visibly very wrinkled, ultra soft/squishy and definitely not firm like fresh blueberries are. A nice, fresh ripe blueberry is firm and has a dark yet opaque grey look from the natural bloom that forms on the outside. The strawberries were not firm or plump and missing that sheen that nicely ripe strawberries have. One of the strawberries even had a little bit of mold growing on it (as seen in the photo). Those strawberries and blueberries should've gone in the trash many days ago- not to a paying customer. To think that they have berries of this level in their fridge thinking it's fine to give to a customer is beyond me and kind of scary. It's almost offensive. Not to say that the owner or manager or all the employees think this is okay - but whoever made this açai bowl clearly does not care. What a huge disappointment. When I removed all the berries and decided to taste the açai base - I could barely even do that because the long spoon was so thin and flimsy that it was very hard to get a scoop out because the handle would just bend everytime I tried to pull the spoon up (as seen in the posted video). It was kind of hilarious. The base was softer than it should've been, it turned runny pretty quick. My husband said his sunsets delight sandwich was okay. Not saying that every açai bowl or all the berries they sell are like this - but what I got was terrible. The berries were completely unacceptable and it unfortunately ruined my first experience and I don't know if I'd ever come back. read more

Breakfast burrito is massive. I couldn't finish it. It was delicious. It's a nice little place. The service is questionable. I didn't feel very welcome; almost like I was an annoyance to the waitress lady. She kindly told me to go to Rite Aid down the street as I needed to use the bathroom. But it was closed. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot for the food. The bagel was a hit, and I'd come back to try more from the menu..and maybe give a different coffee a shot next time!

I also know mistakes can happen and can easily roll with it. That is what makes today's situation extremely bizarre. I ordered a Black 'n Blue sandwich without onion rings, on a toasted rosemary bagel with a small black coffee. My coffee came out first with the wonderful employee with dark curly hair worn in two buns. She called out "Anda", (my name); and handed me my coffee. About 7 minutes later she walked up to me with my sandwich and handed me my sandwich and said, "Here you go, Anda." I said, "Thank you! Have a good day!" and left. I drove home, opened the box and realized it was not at all the sandwich I ordered. Disappointing but things happen. Since I found out with a previous order months ago I'm allergic to an ingredient in one of their sauces, I couldn't risk it. I called Nomad Donuts and spoke with a kind employee who told me my sandwich was waiting there and they accidentally gave me "Anna's" order. I told her I couldn't make it back there and requested a refund. She said no problem and I would receive the refund in a week and apologized again. I said, "No problem, I know mistakes happen and told her to have a good day." Less than three minutes later the supervisor called me back. I missed the call and returned her call immediately. This is where things got strange. She told me the previous employee I spoke with got things mixed up. She told me I TOOK the wrong sandwich. I corrected her and said, "I didn't take anything. I was handed my sandwich." She asked if it was the person that took my order. I said, "No. It was the lovely woman with the dark, curly hair in two buns." The supervisor said, "You're going to get your refund but know we have name mix-ups all of the time so you know for the future. I'm going to talk to all of the staff." I told her, "I told the last employee I understood mistakes happen and I wasn't upset just asking for the refund." The supervisor then said, "You must have misheard your name." I said, "I didn't mishear anything. She walked up to me, handed me my sandwich and said, 'Here you go, Anda.' I thanked her and told her to have a good day." I then explained to the supervisor that it's really strange she was calling me to blame me for their mistake. She said, "I'm not blaming you." I said, "You are. I didn't take anything and didn't mishear anything." She said, "I'm just letting you know for the future." This whole interaction was so bizarre. The supervisor took the time to call me back after I originally called to request a refund politely and kindly and understood mistakes happen. In the process she blamed me for the store's mistake. My questions are: Why did this supervisor even call me in the first place? To blame me for their mistake? To warn me this happens all the time with them to know for the future. An easy fix would be confirming the order with the name. Or was it to try and avoid giving me a refund when they were the ones that made the mistake? I wish I told the supervisor to watch their security footage as that would be proof the employee came up to me. Seems silly over a sandwich but the supervisor is the one who mishandled things. It's a bummer and shocking this is how things were handled. It is especially disappointing as I have been a customer since Day 1 and always knew of Matt to be really kind and hire top notch employees. am only writing this review as the situation has been bothering me since the call two hours ago and thought Matt should know. Unfortunately I will have to think twice about returning moving forward as this was extremely bizarre to me. Hopefully this supervisor was just having an off-day and it's not the norm.

Ruined our morning. Stopped in to get our breakfast to go to share with someone. Ordered an egg burrito and specifically said NO onions. Took almost 30 minutes to get the burrito with no apology for the horrible service. Wait staff all seemed clueless. When we got home burrito had huge onion slices, 80% hard undercooked potatoes, with almost no egg. Gross and inedible and we threw it in the trash. Waste of time and money. Service is fast but a very relaxed vibe...it is only a block from the beach after all. The coffee, particularly the cold brew, was FANTASTIC though a bit pricey at $7. The kids menu featured pancake for $5, fruit for $4.50, and eggs for $3, among others, in a very easy mix and match sort of way. I tried the Mission Chilaquiles for $17. A great CaliMex meal that had the right amount of ingredients, perfectly cooked eggs with the right amount of spice. I also ordered a piece of Rosemary Bread (though really toast) for $4.5 on the side and it had an excellent flavor. Highly recommended!
