First time here as we were in the area. I had heard some good things about this place so took advantage and tried it. We ordered the lunch specials of haddock and cod with a side of gravy and curry sauce. The haddock was the way to go, the cod was good but the haddock was crispier and meatier. The fries had a great texture and the tartar sauce was on point, it did not overwhelm the fish. I've never had fish with gravy but that gravy was tasty. The curry had a good flavor but I wasn't a fan of the fish with the curry, I preferred the gravy. Overall, good meal and for the price, you can't go wrong.

Heard that this place had the best fish & chips in the area. Met up with friends for lunch today when it opened & got a table. You order at the front...got the catfish & chips and it was very good - I liked how it was lightly battered....not overpowering batter like other places. Their french fries were real good too. Will definitely come back to try some other items.

We ordered cod+chips+clam chowder ...fish is good, not seasoned, batter is fried well. When I went home to file the receipt away, I saw that they charged me Lunch combo for $2-3 more than à la carte, but no soft drink+side? My fault...I should have checked the bill right there at the restaurant...not honest from the establishment either!

Eureka! I've found it! I've seen a large number of videos from English fish & Chips shops. They feature a huge, flat piece of battered fish, set atop or beside a plate of chips (French fries). The Codfather restaurant is just such a place. The inside is fairly small, perhaps 20 tables or booths. One places their order at a counter near the entrance, gets a number, finds a table and places the plastic number on it. The wait is not instant, since the food is cooked to order. It arrived piping hot delivered by someone with an English accent. One feels like they might actually be in London. I ordered the Haddock & Chips, and a small bowl of Clam Chowder. The meal comes with a drink. (Miles got the chicken fingers & Chips -- he doesn't like fish). The Chowder was tasty with plenty of clam pieces. Not an intense flavor, but nicely seasoned. The main plated arrived in about 15 minutes. My plate looked exactly like that at the English Chippy -- a large piece of fish set atop nicely cooked fries. It came with a container of tartar sauce. I sprinkled salt and malt vinegar from special large containers on the table, on the chips and fish. The fish was exquisite, crispy outside and flaky, tasty flesh, inside. The fish was light tasting with a natural sweetness, the coating tasty. The tartar sauce was pleasantly tangy, a great addition to the fish. The chips had a very tasty flavor, probably from cooking in the battered fish -- it definitely took up some of that flavor. When we got there (just after 12:00) there were about four or five parties seated, there was no one in line, so we ordered right away. As we were sitting there, the place filled up. The line lengthened, with people filling it as others finished ordering. There were probably 15 or 20 parties ordering, most dining in, with a few to-go. I ate all the fish and most of the chips. It was very filling and the flavor was very satisfying, filling my desire for this fare. I very highly recommend the Codfather. It fulfilled everything I wanted in a Fish & Chips eatery.

Wonderful service and delicious fish and chips! I loved the haddock and chips and my husband loved the catfish. Love the tartar sauce. The poutine was tasty, too (I'm Canadian so I will always order poutine if I see it on a menu). I also tried the mushy peas based on other reviews and I was pleasantly surprised.

I had seen the Codfather multiple times driving around Henderson, and was so glad that I got to go there yesterday. What a treat this is, especially for people that love fish and chips One thing I have to say, is they actually have British people on staff! It's always cool when you're at a fish and chips place and someone comes up and gives you your food and speaks to you with a British accent. I know that's a small thing, but for me it really adds to the experience of dining here. Speaking of the staff, super friendly and helpful, offering. Great suggestions, and just generally are very warm and inviting when you step into the restaurant. The fish and chips were so on point! As someone who has traveled to England and Scotland, I have had some of the best fish and chips in the world. That being said, this place is as close to authentic English fish and chips as I've had yet. I did not have the cod, I decided to upgrade to the haddock, which is what the gentleman at the counter told me. And he was 100% right. Right, it is absolutely delicious flaky and tender with a great crispy batter. The chips were fried perfectly. Had a nice crunch to the outside and soft on the inside. Don't forget the vinegar, to complete the experience! Bottom line? This place is definitely at the top of my list for fish and chips in Las Vegas. I am definitely going to try others but for now the Codfather has made me an offer. I can't refuse!

Great fried fish and tasty sides. Their gluten free batter was pretty amazing too. The fish came out fresh and hot. I suspect the British like their fries with a mix of crispy and more like steak fries. We love them crispy and this helped us not over do it. The only odd note was no beer. I had hoped for a pint to complete the experience, but the fish really fantastic so that had to wait.

This place has been on my list for a really long time. So happy that I was finally able to go! The service was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. I felt like I was visiting someone's home. Food was excellent. My boyfriend got the clam chowder and cod and chips. I'm vegan and yes they have vegan options! I had the vegan "fish and chips" and the mushy peas. The vegan fish is actually made of banana blossom and wrapped in nori (dried seaweed). They even gave me a vegan tartar sauce which I was very surprised they had available. The mushy peas were also very good. I really enjoyed my visit and would like to go back soon! :)

The Codfather has been on my must try list for some time now. I went in on a Friday night. They were quite busy and after dining there, I can see why. You order at the register and are given a number that you take to a table of your choosing. The service is friendly and the food is cooked to order. We ordered clam chowder, a battered sausage, the kids menu mini fish, the cod fish and chips, and the haddock fish and chips. Our soup arrived first and was a great start to our meal. The soup was full of clams and potatoes and was very filling. The fish and chips were so good. They were cooked fresh to order. The kids menu mini fish was a great size for a kids portion. The haddock was huge and the cod was a generous serving. The chips were cut large and were tasty. The tartar sauce was delicious. The restaurant has booths, tables, and a counter for eating at. The servers were all friendly and you can tell they want everyone to have a great experience.

I stopped by The Codfather for lunch earlier today while my car was in the shop for an oil change. The entire experience was top notch and a great start to my holiday break. SERVICE: Friendly & well-paced. AMBIANCE: The restaurant is homey with diner vibes (in the best way possible), and there's a variety of booths, tables, and high tops to accommodate groups of different sizes. The restaurant seems to have broad crossover appeal and attracted a wide range of customers during my visit. FOOD: This was easily one of my Top 5 fish and chip experiences! The chips and curry sauce combo was divine. I also curated four or five unique flavor profiles with different combinations of the fish, mushy peas, curry sauce, tartar sauce, and malt vinegar.

TLDR: Great local fish and chips spot in Henderson. A large piece of fish comes out freshly fried with a large side of chips. Staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. I would budget some time to eat here since it gets quite busy and the fish comes freshly fried. Food: I had the lunch combo which included haddock and chips, a side (I chose mushy peas), and either a water or soda. The fish was fried to order and came out incredibly hot and crispy. There was a nice bed of chips, tartar sauce, and a lemon. The table was stocked with ketchup and malt vinegar. I would absolutely come here just for the fish and chips. The mushy peas were not my favorite, but I am far from an expert on mushy peas. Compared to other restaurants, these ones were soupier and did not have added freshness of mint/herbs. Price: I believe the lunch combo was $20 before tax and tip which was fair considering how large the portions were and everything that comes with the combo Ambiance/Service: The service here was incredible. It seemed like only a few staff members were running the restaurant with over 30+ customers at the lunch rush. Despite it being busy they had a great attitude and were consistent in reminding us to let them know if we needed anything

The vegan choices here are EXCELLENT!!! I had never had a banana blossom before as a replacement... I suppose it's a lot like heart of palm... But at Codfathers, they up it a bit with some nori to give it that cod like flavor. It may be a bit too much nori, but it was wonderful. So even the vegan "fish" and chips are very traditional, but perhaps the real stars here are the vegan sausage and mashed peas and curry sauce! OMG! It was just all very traditional tasting, and it felt like nothing was missing. Thank you for these excellent plant based choices! My whole family will definitely be back! read more

Absolutely perfect fish and chips. Before The Codfather opened, there's never been anything close to the great fish and chips you get in the UK, Canada, New Zealand or Australia in Vegas. For some reason, whilst fish and chips is a staple on every bar's menu in town, it's always terrible - heavily over-battered, greasy and over-cooked. The phrase 'beer-battered' always signifies awfulness. There's a couple of British pubs that do a good job, but this is the real deal. Very light batter, no grease and perfectly fluffy cod. The chips are perfect too - nice and thick but not under or over cooked. Gravy and curry sauce are great to bring back memories of the UK, but a special mention to the mushy peas that show that mushy peas can have a nice complex taste - a lot of fish and chips shops in the UK could learn from the Codfather! 100% recommended. Let's keep this place thriving! read more

Tried the Codfather for the first time today. I must say that the quality was excellent - a real memory of home. However, what rankled, and the reason for only 3 stars rather than what would have been a 5 star review, was that I did not realise until I came to put petrol in the car on the way home, but I had been shortchanged by $50 , having paid for my fish and chips with a $100 note and was given change for $50. Kind of took the shine off the meal. I won't be driving over there from west Las Vegas again in a hurry. read more

Glynn is the owner from Sheffield and clearly very passionate about his food. Former celebrity chef, and knows his way around a chippie! We Brits love our fish & chips! My husband and I get take out haddock & chips every Friday with mushy peas, gravy and of course chip shop curry! I'm a Brit living in Vegas for 23 and the best fish & chips ever. Savaloy, battered sausage and Sheffield pie all good! Try it, you won't be disappointed. It's a 5-stars from me. Good luck Glynn, you are the best! read more

If you do anything come try this restaurant ! I came here looking for some good fish and chips and my expectations were beyond exceeded. We ordered 3 fish and chips, a side of coleslaw and a butter bread. The menu is pretty small but everything we tried was delicious. They have their main dish of fish and chips and then a few sides and appetizers which were all very affordable. The coleslaw was creamy and crisp and my mother in law said it was the best she ever had and she loves her coleslaw.They also have a small children's menu with about 2-3 different choices The fish had the perfect crunch and was seasoned to perfection. It came with tarter sauce that was the best I've ever had. It was tangy and creamy and just delish. The meal was about 13.50 and came with a drink, a big piece of fish, a basket of fries and a side of tarter sauce. The customer service was great and the food came out pretty fast. You can tell the owner takes pride in his restaurant and it shows. They have lemon as well you just have to ask for some. The fries come unsalted but they have salt on the table if you wanna add your own. The only thing I will say is I wish the fries were fried a little harder because they were a little soft but besides that everything was a 10/10.I will definitely be returning and telling everyone about this place. read more

Fanstatic, finally a chippy ( Fish & Chip shop) like back home in Yorkshire. Great value for money, the property is clean and welcoming. Its cooked to order so you know is fresh and you can not go wrong with anything of the menu. This was my first visit to The Codfather after hearing about it from one of my coworkers at Sadelles the fish and chips are absolutely delicious I had to drive all the way to mountains edge from the restaurant and it was still crunchy crispy and warm when I got home the mushy peas and the curry gravy were phenomenal on both the fish and chips I am so happy I was able to stop by there and give it a go I will definitely be back thank you so much cod father it was wonderful! GLUTEN FREE fish and chips... what a treat! Definitely give this small, very British restaurant a try. The mushy peas were delicious too. If we ever return to Las Vegas we will be back. Extra fun for the grand kids... guessing the airline as planes began their descent overhead! read more

A little hole in the wall- full of authenticity. So happy I read the reviews. As a Brit who moved to our wonderful USA over 50 years ago, I can happily say with much experience that Codfather is the best fish and chips shop I have encountered this side of the Atlantic. Other Brits will understand what this means. We are always searching, knowing much disappointment. Well, no more for me. Such a friendly welcome, great service and delicious food. I was excited to try the vegan "cod" made from banana blossom and it was delicious! Nice, crisp batter, tender & juicy inside, and the chips were perfect with a few shakes of vinegar. I've never had mushy peas so I just expected bland mashed peas, but I was so wrong as it was very well seasoned. The curry sauce also complimented it so well, I could have eaten a whole bowl of each. The place was bright and spotless with an open kitchen, small dining room, and a table for eating outside. Social distancing was enforced. The owner was quite nice and seemed happy to chat a bit as we ordered. Forgot to take pics but portions were generous. What a gem - we will be back for sure. read more

Being English I've been looking for good fish and chips for 18 years. This place blows all the competition out of the water. An authentic British fish and chip shop (chippie) - don't waste your money with the famous chef on the strip, get a cab/Uber here and get some amazing, authentic British food owned by a proper English gentleman. You won't regret it! read more

I will say, this place has amazing flavor. Their clam chowder was AWESOME and the fish and chips were great. I appreciated how hands on the owner was and it really gives you the small business feel when you walk in. I've noticed reviews complaining about the chips and I do not agree with them at all. Just because these chips are not your usual "crunchy fries" you'd get at other places does not mean they're not great. The inside of the fries was perfectly soft and they weren't covered in gross grease or oil. I really enjoyed them. The one disappointment from my whole experience here was actually the fish. The top of the fish was amazing, crunch was on point, fried great and everything. Unfortunately when I turned the fish over the bottom is covered in grease which caused it to be a bit too soggy and a lot of the breading peeled away. Also there were parts of the fish that were a little tough. Could have just been unlucky but other than that, everything was amazing. Definitely give this place a look! read more

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile, and it didn't disappoint at all. Traditional Fish N Chips shop with the standard fare. I ordered the Cod N Chips. It was 2 decent size pieces and a heaping serving of chips. Everything is made to order. Service was great! Thank you!!! read more

Great fish n chips!! Food came out quickly and was cooked perfectly. Gravy and peas were a nice add on. They even have a vegan fish option! The workers were very friendly and seemed to love what they are doing which makes a pleasant atmosphere. I hope to come back again soon. They need to change their batter well done and brown on the outside but still mushy on the inside like wet bread. I asked for crispy fries after reading other reviews but still soggy and barely cooked. Thanks but not the place for me. read more

We were there today for lunch! We shared the fish and chips and mushy peas, of course!! The menu is simple and easy to understand..just order fish and chips!!.Very delicious and outstanding. If you are a Brit or even if you aren't--take the drive as we did. My British Hubby loved it. The place is simple, and we loved the Union Jack flags all over..adorable. We have been looking for a chippy for sometime!!! We usually have to fly to West Yorkshire..a 10 hour non stop flight!! Lol lol. This was closer than that. We will be regulars. First time eating here, very happy to say that I have found a new go-to place. The portion size is perfect, the food tastes excellent, the atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming, and the place is exceptionally clean. What better place to get Fish and Chips then somewhere right here in Henderson. 10/10 recommend and will be returning. Cheers read more

I ordered coippino which at $46 was expensive but I wanted a treat. Hubby ordered large clam chowder in bread bowl and Caesar salad. Cioppino lists first ingredient as crab. What I was served had no crab, 2 overcooked shrimp and rubbery calamari. The sauce was flavorful but so disappointing otherwise. I asked about the crab and was told "no crab" and I was offered additional scallops as compensation. He brought three small scallops on a plate. Hubby was served two small bread bowls of chowder with the explanation of "we are out of large bowls". Again, it should have been discussed prior to serving that there was a substitution. Who wants two big loaves of bread bowl??? The salad adequate-- a big bowl of romaine with croutons with a side of dressing. All in all not worth the over $150 it cost. Not in the least! And they charge an extra 3% if you use a credit card. We will not be back.

We mentioned it to our server, who was very sweet, but of course there was nothing she could do about it - nor did we seek resolution. I'm an Australian who has lived in Las Vegas for 7 years and had no idea The Codfather existed. I was craving some fish and chips so I looked around to see if there were any authentic Australian or British fish and chip places in Las Vegas and came across The Codfather. I am so happy I found it. The service is fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly. Just be prepared to wait a little. Fish and chips is not fast food. That is normal. The wait is worth it though. The food was amazing. The quality was incredible. Everything was delicious and my full stomach is very happy. The portion sizes look small in many of the pictures posted but trust me you will be full when you're done. They are huge portions. Make sure to order yourself a trifle for dessert. That was also delicious and I can't wait to go back for more. If you want some real fish and chips I promise you will not regret going to The Codfather. read more

This place is no frills old English style fish & chips and it just simply works. It's really, really good and worth the trip if you are craving Fish n Chips. If you like Clam Chowder, you will certainly want to try there version and it's delicious. Great small spot and if you want a change of pace with something that's not the norm, this is your place. Served hot with all the fixings on the side including malt vinegar, you can't have fish n chips without that! Give it a whirl and you won't be disappointed! Avast ye, scurvy dogs! I've sailed the seven seas and plundered many a galley, but I've never encountered such a sorry excuse for a fish fry as the Cod Father. I expected a hearty meal fit for a pirate, but what I got was a watery, flavorless mess. The fish was as dry as a sailor's joke and the fries were limp and greasy. It was as if the cook had never heard of seasoning, or perhaps he was just too lazy to bother. I'd sooner eat a boot than dine at the Cod Father again. I'll be sure to warn me fellow pirates to steer clear of this watery grave. read more
